His teams are structured into small, specialized silos with dedicated investment, client service, and business development professionals. He stresses relationship-building over transactional sales, ensuring long-term partnerships. Silvercrest also leverages subadvisory relationships, allowing distribution through larger platforms without engaging in retail sales.Communication and transparency are essential to Allen's leadership. Silvercrest tracks an "actionable pipeline", focusing on opportunities likely to close within six months. His trust-based leadership allows experienced professionals the freedom to execute their responsibilities while maintaining accountability. He prioritizes hiring skilled individuals, providing them with the right tools, and minimizing bureaucracy.For young professionals entering the fundraising business, Allen advises deep investment knowledge beyond sales materials. Understanding market dynamics, analyzing performance data, and maintaining transparency in tough times are key to success. After a stint in the Navy and forty years teaching history, Larry Kidder was curios about the lives of ordinary people in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.  He could not find a good book on the subject, so he started writing , and how he has told stories of the Revolution from the vantage point of New Jersey's militia. On Christmas Eve he joins us to share the epic story of General Washington crossing the Delaware, and  introduces us to the Revolutionary World of Jacob Francis, a Free Black man from New Jersey who, as a "Massachusetts" soldier, participated inn the crossing.  Larry Kidder tells us of Jacob Francis and other stories from New Jersey in the Revolution's ten crucial days--from the Delaware crossing to the Battle of Princeton. Tell us what you think! On this episode of Small Town Life, host Dave Warner interviews author William L. Kidder, who just completed the book 'Defending Fort Stanwix.' It's a story of the New York Frontier during the American Revolution. The book focuses on the successful defense of Fort Stanwix, located in what is today Rome, New York. Fort Stanwix played an important role in the 1777 Saratoga campaign, which resulted in the capture of British forces led by General John Burgoyne. This campaign is widely considered to be a major turning point in the American Revolution. Burgoyne's surrender raised Patriot morale and contributed to the formation of the alliance with France, which contributed greatly to victory in the War for Independence. In the epilogue, Kidder sketches the postwar lives of some of the fort's prominent defenders, outlines the fort's decommissioning and fall into ruin, and describes its late twentieth-century reconstruction and designation as a national monument.
