In this episode, we are joined by Bruce Bailey, a passionate advocate against human trafficking, dedicated to its eradication. In 2009, he was deeply moved by the harrowing stories of children being sold to traffickers in remote Nepalese villages and the Himalayas. This revelation sparked his journey to combat trafficking and led him to establish SAFE in the Panhandle, uniting individuals who share his mission. Bruce's commitment intensified as he delved into the issue within the United States and researched organizations to support. Recognizing his dedication, he became a volunteer and eventually joined the board of The Wellhouse, a prominent safe house dedicated to rescuing, sheltering, and rehabilitating women and children affected by sex trafficking. Today's the day! We are starting a new series on the Problem of Evil. On this episode of Pints and Perspectives we look at the question of the problem of evil from a 30,000 foot view. We also introduce the outline and structure of our series (which I mistakenly say in this episode will only be 3 episodes.). We are going to approach this from three different perspectives: 1) evil; 2) God; and 3) the human perspective. We are really looking forward to this series as it is a huge problem, maybe the problem, for both of us in our theology. Its the problem that had me (Cullen) take a three year agnostic leave. So, WellHouse has returned to a New Testament expression of our faith by meeting in homes and dedicating ourselves to: the teaching of the scriptures, the fellowship of the believers, the breaking of bread together, and praying together for one another. We are focused on being a genuine expression of Christian hospitality and service to our community and the people of our community. At WellHouse we want to be a place where people can Be Real, Be Relational, and Be Restored. As our leadership was dreaming up this vision, we looked at Scripture and saw that the earliest expressions of the church met in homes and it was rare that all of the believers were together. Today, most churches have found themselves spending a large portion of their budget on buildings that they rarely use. Not WellHouse. We want to keep our overhead low so we can spend our money on the things that matter, being the hands and feet of Jesus. So, we meet in the homes of our members for the majority of our meetings. Once per month, we all come together at a rented facility to devote our selves together as the whole church for the purpose of worshipping God together.

Carolyn Potter is the Chief Executive Officer of The WellHouse.   Our Purpose: We provide residential, therapeutic programs to female victims of human trafficking who have been sexually exploited, offering medical, spiritual, mental, and emotional care. We welcome women and girls of all ages, and mothers with their children. Regardless of race, color, creed, or religion, survivors in pain can be assured they will find love and acceptance at The WellHouse.   Our Services: We offer emergency-, short-, and long-term restoration programs to female victims of human trafficking.   Our Story: The WellHouse began when a survivor of human trafficking determined that there needed to be a place of safety and trust for victims not yet rescued. Her outreach, and that of others, to women in the Woodlawn area, close to the I-20 corridor, led her to realize that there were no shelters solely for trafficked victims. She then conceived the idea of a home with no prerequisites or requirements that often hinder victims from obtaining needed assistance.   The WellHouse was born from this vision. We are a 24-hour shelter offering immediate assistance to trafficked women who are rescued from anywhere in the United States. Entry requirements to programs, such as a state identification, proof of homelessness and a birth certificate, can undermine a woman's access to an immediate, safe environment; therefore, these have been eliminated. We welcome victim survivors who desire help and who want to move toward becoming Overcomers! There is nothing lacking at The WellHouse that would hinder success, and there is everything to gain for a life that was once hopeless! The WellHouse Name: The name, The WellHouse, is taken from The Bible's story of the Samaritan woman at the well, because we are a “a place where women never have to thirst again, ” - John 4:11-15. “A place where women never have to thirst again.”“Sir,” the woman said, “You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his flocks and herds?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.
