I've been practicing meditation again, now through a new App called “The Way.” It's been teaching a simple framework for noticing more about how our minds work. What can you do about being stressed, having anxious, coming back into the present? The framework is very useful for getting yourself out of your head and back into the present. It all starts with awareness and noticing – catching yourself getting out of presence. There are so many different ways that we stop being present. So it helps for you to get a basic understanding about how you, specifically, leave the present moment:Presence/Out of Presence:Audio/Past: We remember a conversation that we were having (and maybe cringe about it). Audio/Future: We're practicing a conversation that we're going to have.Audio/Present: You're hearing something in the room you're in, right now.Visual/Past: We see images of some past event or person.Visual/Future: We are imagining how we'll act, we're in a fantasy of the future.Visual/Present: You're seeing the room you're in, the color, the texture. Etc.Those senses, those same senses that were distracting you become an anchor to getting present again. Talk about a counter-intuitive move! Start by “labeling” what you're noticing. Understand a bit better and get curious about yourself in this way. And, you can download the app the way if that's helpful to you. What helps you get outta your head and back into the present?

If I want my children to be open to hearing the messages I have for them, I must listen to the ones they have for me.

Cameras clicking, children laughing, turkey roasting, presents yet to be wrapped, quietude of "silent night, holy night". The holidays are a magical moment of our year, where we set aside time and energy to celebrate, remember, enjoy, and connect with family and friends. Yet in all that beauty, it's often a time when stress, past hurt, present pain, the desire to create something magical for our spouse, children, loved ones, and dirty laundry can become a monumental practice exacerbating lies we believe about ourselves, God, and our ability to be connect and be present with those who really matter. Join Joy Prouty, author of Practicing Presence and Jennifer Pepito to talk about how the process of becoming present creates connection, and offers restorative practices for engaging in the difficult tasks of life. With both practical steps for stepping back from the madness to find the beauty, return to present, and capture the moment, as well as a gentle understanding of how stressful life can be, but how good and sufficient God is, this episode is a perfect forerunner to the holidays and the rest of your life. Welcome to another episode of the A Free Spirit Life Podcast, where we dive deep into topics that resonate with your heart and soul. In this episode #70, we explore the powerful theme of awakening to a new level of consciousness, grieving and shedding the layers of the old and embracing the 5D way of being.Embracing the Shift: From 3D to 5D ConsciousnessAs we navigate the profound changes in our world today, many of us are experiencing a spiritual awakening unlike anything we've felt before. We're transitioning from the old 3D way of existence to the new 5D consciousness - heart-centered living and leading with love.Navigating the Messy TransitionThe mess we may be feeling reminds me of when I saw Marianne Williamson speak many years ago, as she was talking about the #metoo movement. The energy we initially felt during that time was like when an old bathtub faucet that hasn't been used in years and gets turns on. At first, the water gushes out chaotically, carrying with it all the accumulated gunk and rust. Similarly, as we awaken, we're confronted with anger, frustration, and a sense of being duped by systems that no longer serve us. It's a messy process.Shaking Off the MuckBut here's the beautiful part: we're shedding the accumulated muck from our wings. Imagine that you've always had wings, but they've been burdened by this heavy layer. As we shake off this muck, our wingspan expands, and we begin to soar. This is happening to people all around us as we release the old and make space for the new.Learning to Flow with the CurrentIn this transformative journey, we're learning how to go with the flow. Think about the water you might find around mountains – powerful yet graceful. It knows its path and doesn't let obstacles deter it. It smoothly carves its own way, never stopping its flow. This is what's happening as we awaken; we're learning to move gracefully and authentically through life.Choosing Love Over FearThe shift from 3D to 5D is about choosing love, compassion, and empathy over fear, anxiety, and worry. It's a choice between building our lives on the foundation of love or fear. Ask yourself: "Do I want a life rooted in fear or one built on love, compassion, and empathy?" The Courage to Choose LoveIt's not easy to choose love in a world that often thrives on judgment and division. But choosing love, compassion, and empathy is our calling. It's about embracing our uniqueness and lifting each other up, rather than tearing one another down. The Path to AuthenticityAs we walk forward on this journey, it can feel like a spew of dirty water, full of blame, judgment, and fear from those who haven't yet awakened. If you find yourself wanting to blame, judge, or mock those who choose love and authenticity, look within. Examine where that judgment comes from. And use this time to set healthy boundaries to honor and protect your energy.Reclaiming Your PowerFrom the moment we enter this world, we're conditioned to doubt ourselves and our innate gifts. It's time to grieve the moments we were consumed with self-doubt, and step fully into your authentic power. You have wings; it's time to soar...Our Mother EarthIt's heartbreaking to witness the harm we've inflicted on Mother Earth. But we're raising a generation that values nature and understands our interconnectedness with it. Times are changing.Letting Go of 3D ControlThe shift to 5D consciousness involves surrendering control to the heart. While the human mind resists this, it's essential to let the heart lead and co-create with your mind. Your heart knows the way; your mind can be the co-creator.Practicing Presence and PeaceWhenever you feel overwhelmed by the mind's doubt or restless chatter, place your hands on your heart, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Your breath is the anchor to the present moment, where your inner peace resides. Quiet the mind, and let the heart guide you.New BeginningsAs we transition into September 2023, we're entering a season of new beginnings. It's a time to let go of the old, the 3D way of life, and embrace the 5D path. It's a time to live with love, light, peace, and authenticity. Remember, you are a light worker, here to make a positive impact. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world.Stay ConnectedIf you're seeking support during this transformative journey, here are my 1:1 healing session options. Share this episode with fellow light workers and kindred spirits who are feeling the call to create a new life rooted in love, light, and empowered authenticity. We need each other as we navigate this shift together. Ever have the check engine light come on in your car, but ignore it? Been there, done that. Let it go too long and you may end up somewhere you don't wanna be. The same is true when the check engine light comes on in your spirit…you can pretend it's not flashing or be completely oblivious by your busyness, but eventually it will catch up with you…and by that point, you're further down a road you may not want to be on. External warning signs like feeling separated, stretched, or stressed are an indication of an internal problem. So what's the solution when living in a really busy and distracting world? Artist Rebecca Collins returns to The Spiritual Artist Podcast. Rebecca Collins is a mixed media artist working in mosaic, collage, watercolor and digital arts and was Chris' first podcast interview more than two year ago. Rebecca reminds listeners about the importance of slowing down and being present to the process both as a teacher and as an artist. As a teacher Rebecca is very aware of time; she wants to ensure that each student completes the process. Rebecca has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer for more than 8 years and shares the importance of enjoying each day and recalls a lifetime of meeting deadlines and high productivity. As a greeting card illustrator, she produced a dozen/dozen card sets at one time. Learning to group her tasks as a mosaic artist. At this time, she has decided to focus more on her larger pieces that take longer to produce. Rebecca revisits her mantra, “The more you do, the more you can do.” She realizes that it's a true statement but it no longer serves her. We can choose new beliefs. As Spiritual Artists we constantly reexamine our beliefs. Rebecca notes that when we work slower, we increase our stamina and can work longer. Rebecca explains that by slowing her body she can slow down her thoughts. Mosaics are very therapeutic because they are like working a puzzle. Rebecca uses drawing to slow her mind and be present. She explains how to see by drawing upside down. It's learning to see what what is there and not what we think is there. She emphasizes the importance of seeing with fresh eyes. When receiving her 3-hour transfusions, Rebecca started a series of healthy cell drawings and self-portraits to chronicle her journey through healing. Rebecca teaches at the Creative Arts Center, Makers Connect Gallery and in her home studio. For more information, visit

What makes a moment beautiful? Is it all about what's happening? Where we are?Who we are with? What we're doing?Or maybe it's simply about our willingness to pay attention… To be aware of what's unfolding in our lives and find beauty in the big moments and the most mundane. What if finding more beautiful moments in your life came down to being present and paying attention? My friend, this meditation is all about helping you do that.

The words “being present” have recently become common vernacular. But what do they really mean? Most people mean, by presence, that we are attendant, that we notice; we are aware and responsive. What we don't always know and are not always present with is the fact that presence is something that heals us, that holds us, that awakens us to the deeper nature of who we are. And practicing presence, yes, means being attendant, aware and responsive—but of and to that deeper essence. What we don't often know is that our mental and physical illnesses are often made up of lack of presence—that somehow we are floating around outside of our own awareness and we do not connect self to Self. So, today, we are going to be talking about both the floating around and the presence that heals. Don't miss it.

To give someone our undivided attention is one of the greatest gifts we can give. In this episode, Scott Stoner talks about practicing presence--with ourselves, with others, and with God.
We are passionate about the presence of God, and we live with a spirit of gratitude. In this experience, we respond to these two values by practicing God's presence and expressing our gratitude together. God's presence holds us together, His presence surrounds us, His presence is within us, His presence is in our godly relationships, His presence is tangible in our worship, and His presence is in our humility, hunger, and holiness. And because of His presence in our lives, we have so much to be grateful for. So, what are you grateful for today?
Today I am sharing a podcast episode that could transform your holiday season…maybe even your whole life. Seriously, that's a big claim, but have a listen and I think you'll agree — it's that powerful. I'm so happy to bring back this conversation I had with Kate Merrick in 2019. If you aren't familiar with Kate yet, you'll fall in love with her quickly. In this episode I get to tell the funny story of how Kate and I met, and all of the wild ways our lives now intersect. Kate shares her story of embracing presence in the hardest season of her life and how much she does not regret that now. Friends, this episode is both convicting, and inspiring. I hope you can dive in and listen! And then go have a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season! www.monicaswanson.com/episode-185 Podcast page (for all episodes) www.monicaswanson.com/podcast
