Julen Lopetegui was confirmed as West Ham's new manager just hours before the FA announced Lucas Paqueta has been hit with six charges - four relating to suspicious betting and two for non-compliance with an investigation.  It capped a mad end to yet another rollercoaster campaign for the Hammers as legend David Moyes waved goodbye after spearheading the club's most successful period in decades.  And to cap of the season, Will Pugh is joined by three top journalists and friends of the podcast: Tom Rennie from TalkSPORT International and Sirius XM plus Hammers correspondents Jacob Steinberg (The Guardian) and Jack Rosser (The Sun). The guys talk all things Moyes, Lopetegui, Tim Steidten, Paqueta, David Sullivan, summer transfer plans, hopes and fears for next season and beyond, and of course how many more decades Michail Antonio will play up front for the Irons.  It's a truly brilliant episode with some razor sharp insight from proper professionals with contacts at every level of the club.  As always, thanks for listening! West Ham must beat Freiburg at home in Thursday's Europa League last 16 second leg after last week's 1-0 defeat in Germany.  That would mean a third European quarter-final in three years for the Hammers which would be a quite simply staggering achievement.  The last two results have not been great but West Ham were not a million miles away from a positive result in either game.  Freiburg fan Michael from the Fuchsletalk podcast joins Will Pugh to look back on last week's game in Germany and ahead to Thursday's clash in London.  It promises to be a nerve-wracking and exciting evening at London Stadium and here's hoping David Moyes' boys can get it over the line.  As always, thanks for listening! West Ham United are safe… well pretty much. A fantastic 1-0 win over Manchester United at London Stadium on Sunday put the Hammers seven points clear of the drop zone and only a miracle from the sides below would see the Irons drop into the Championship. And that means all our focus can now switch to winning the Europa Conference League, starting with this Thursday's semi-final first-leg at London Stadium against AZ Alkmaar. James Jones has jetted off to Montreal AGAIN for work so Will Pugh holds the fort but the listeners are likely to be pretty impressed with James' replacement for the week. It is none other than Hammers legend Tony Cottee! Tony lifts the lid on all things PAI Capital, David Moyes, Declan Rice and much more as well as looking back and forward to some huge games for West Ham United. After a month or so of mediocre performances and signs that West Ham's top-six challenge might be on the verge of collapse, things are suddenly looking promising again. Last week's Europa League draw saw us matched with LaLiga giants Sevilla in the last-16 and then we secured a huge win over top-six rivals Wolves at London Stadium on Sunday.  The draw is literally the stuff of dreams.  No one could've imaged we'd be preparing to face six-time Europa League champions Sevilla in the last 16 of the competition just two years ago when David Moyes returned to the club.  Now, West Ham are not only making that a reality but we're also battling for consecutive top-six finishes in the Premier League. It's incredible.  Despite being off the boil over the last month or so, there are signs that this season still might have a really happy ending but the next seven days are going to be crucial to that.  On Wednesday we travel to St. Mary's Stadium to face Southampton in the FA Cup 5th round, and then on Saturday, we visit Anfield, where we've won just once in the last 59 years.  On this week's show, James Jones and Will Pugh discuss the Sevilla draw, the win over Wolves and also look ahead to this week's fixtures against Southampton and Liverpool. Also this week, we're joined by Saints fan and sports journalist James Beavis to preview the FA Cup clash and then Red Men TV's Ste Hoare to get the lowdown on all things Liverpool. It was just another week at 'same ol' West Ham', wasn't it?  It started with Declan Rice having to come off the bench to save us from the biggest upset in FA Cup history against sixth-tier Kidderminster Harriers. And it ended with an underwhelming 1-0 victory over Watford at home. In between, we had the not-so-small matter of Kurt Zouma drop-kicking and slapping his cat. The decision to play Zouma against Watford 24 hours after said cat video emerged on social media led to widespread outrage from the general public, which was understandable.  David Moyes fluffed his lines when pressed on the matter after the game by describing it as a footballing decision, while some club sponsors moved to disassociate themselves with the club.  All in all, it was a complete and utter car crash and unfortunately, we probably haven't heard the last of it just yet. Back on the football pitch, West Ham are back in the top-four after Tuesday's win and have a chance to keep that Champions League qualification flame flicking for a little bit longer with a win against Leicester City on Sunday.  Trouble is, so many teams have games in hand on us that finishing in the top four is currently out of our hands.  All we can do is keep winning, and what better place to continue that than Leicester, who have been shipping goals for fun and seem like a club in disarray after Brendan Rodgers publicly questioned his players' commitment last weekend.  Friend of the show and big Leicester fan, TalkSPORT's Jake Watson, joined us this week to preview this game at the King Power. Also on this week's show, Will Pugh and Jame James Jones give their thoughts on the Zouma story, discuss the Hammers' near miss in the FA Cup, make their Betway charity bet selections, hail West Ham Women for yet another WSL victory and much more! West Ham fans around the world were heartbroken to learn of Isla Caton's passing last week as supporters from many clubs came together to pay tribute to the little princess. Her brave battle, along with her mum Nikki and the rest of Isla's family, against neuroblastoma over the past few years has captured the hearts and minds of the fanbase and produced some heartwarming and inspiring stories. Isla may no longer be with us in body, but she will stay with us in our minds and in our hearts for decades to come as her astounding legacy will outlive most of the people reading / listening to this. Will Pugh and James Jones start the show with a tribute to Super Isla and her family and send all the love and support they can. Such an incident puts life into perspective and that's what the boys cling onto in the second part of the show as they discuss West Ham's complete lack of transfer activity, who is to blame and where that leaves the club. The Hammers return to match action this weekend in the FA Cup Fourth Round away at Kidderminster Harriers, and lifelong Harriers fan Nick Haycox dials in to look ahead to the clash. 169: VARcical scenes at Man Utd - ft. West Ham correspondent Tom Clark

Once again, West Ham did a West Ham by losing a game that had 0-0 written all over it.  Except, against Man Utd, it was because of a controversial VAR call in the 93rd minute and a severe lapse in concentration.  The 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford hurt more than it has done in the past.  The Hammers are no strangers to losing there, but to do so in such fashion and at the expense of our position in the Premier League's top four was a tough one to take.  But despite that, David Moyes' men look forward to a potentially fruitful FA Cup run, the latter stages of the Europa League and another potential top-six finish. So it's not all bad. Yet. As we enter the final week of the January transfer window, David Moyes, Rob Newman and the club are yet to add to West Ham's unacceptably thin squad. And if they don't then all of the above might be a stretch too far for what is fast becoming a very tired group of players. This time next week fans will know more about what we should expect.  On this week's show, James Jones and Will Pugh give their thoughts on the controversy at Old Trafford, the performance and what they hope for after the international break.  Football.London's West Ham Correspondent Tom Clark dials in to chat about the defeat last weekend, West Ham's thriving bunch of academy prospects, Moyes' January transfer intentions and much more. The lads also talk through their Betway Charity Bets, which were all way off the mark this time around. And finally, we discuss West Ham Women's 4-2 Conti Cup defeat to Chelsea and the superb 3-0 win over Everton in the WSL as Oli Harder continues to turn the team's fortunes around after last season's battle to survive relegation.  There's then time for some final thoughts before the boys say goodbye for another week. West Ham did a West Ham against Leeds and lost 3-2 at home just a week after dispatching them with ease in the FA Cup. They also beat hapless Norwich 2-0 at home since the last We Are West Ham podcast but even that left a slightly flat feel given the countless fluffed chances. Jarrod Bowen continued his excellent form with three goals in two games but he bizarrely felt the need to apologise to fans on social media after missing a sitter which would have made it 3-3 against Leeds at the death. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones to discuss all of that as well as give the low down on Issa Diop and his time at the club after two of his mistakes directly led to two of Jack Harrison's three goals – the first hat-trick of his career. Sports journalist and Man Utd fan Matt Beadle dials in to chat all things Red Devils ahead of David Moyes' men trip to Old Trafford on Saturday. The lads then make their Betway charity bet selections after a winner in the Norwich game. And then the Daily Mail's Kathryn Batte joins again after watching West Ham Women nick a 1-1 draw away at Tottenham thanks to Kate Longhurst's last minute headed winner. West Ham continued their perfect start to 2022 with a reasonably comfortable 2-0 win against Leeds at London Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup. And the great day got even better for the Hammers who were draw against National League North side Kidderminster Harriers in the fourth round. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones to react to the Leeds win with the help of SunSport's Kieran Benn who also looks ahead to the Whites' second visit to the London Stadium in eight days. West Ham United have just had the best 12 months in living memory. European qualification, their highest Premier League finish since the 90s, and some giant scalps along the way. Some stars have cemented themselves as cult heroes and in Declan Rice, Hammers fans have an icon they'll remember forever. Will Pugh and James Jones are here for the last time in 2021 to look back on an unforgettable year of football for their beloved Hammers. From the near-perfect start in January and Jesse Lingard's arrival to sealing that sixth place spot. The historic Euros and England's run to the final with Rice at the heart of it making Hammers everywhere oh-so-proud. And when you thought it couldn't get any better, David Moyes' men kicked off the 2021-22 campaign in scintillating fashion – roaring to third in the Premier League and winning their Europa League group with a game to spare. Granted the year has finished with the worst run of form the team has been through in 2021, but bigger picture, it's been a whirlwind dream that Irons fans can all be proud of. The lads recorded this show on Christmas Eve after the Tottenham defeat in the League Cup so don't know what happened in the Southampton match. They run through the year month-by-month, game-by-game before handing out their end of year awards. It's been a blast this year and they'll be back at it in January.   Thank you so much for all your support in 2021, it's been phenomenal and we are both really grateful.   We both hope you have a fantastic new year and look forward to the show getting back on the road in 2022.   You can follow the podcast here:   Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. West Ham United lost 2-0 at Arsenal last Wednesday thanks to a combination of a much-changed Hammers team and the ref Anthony Taylor. Vladimir Coufal was sent off for two ridiculously soft yellow cards and after that, David Moyes' men weren't able to fight back from 1-0 down. In fact they let Emile Smith Rowe in to wrap up the points for the home side after Gabriel Martinelli had put them 1-0 up. The Irons looked like they had a good chance to bounce back with a home game against Norwich on Saturday but it was postponed after a Covid-related request from the Canaries. Will Pugh was at the Emirates and he is joined by James Jones to look back at that game as well as to look ahead to West Ham's next two fixtures – Tottenham away in the Carabao Cup and Southampton at home on Boxing Day. Daily Express sports editor and huge Spurs fan Alex Milne dials in to chat all things Lilywhites with Antonio Conte having turned them around since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo. And the Evening Standard's West Ham correspondent, and massive Saints fan, Jack Rosser also joins to look ahead to that Southampton clash. The lads make their Betway charity selections after failing to pick a winner for the Gunners game. They look back at a decent League Cup win and a solid transitional year for West Ham Women under Ollie Harder. All of that before saying goodbye for 2021. There will be a pre-recorded review of the year show that goes out between Christmas and new year but this will be the last ‘proper format' show of the year. It's not often West Ham United can look back on a defeat and feel quite content.  To be fair, it's not often the Hammers have to look back on a defeat at all these days, such is the superb job David Moyes is doing. The 1-0 defeat at Wolves last weekend was deserved, so there are no complaints from James Jones and Will Pugh on this week's podcast. The likes of Michail Antonio in particular felt the effects of travelling thousands of miles on international duty. But one thing we can be sure of is the team's ability to bounce back quickly from defeat and they've got a good opportunity to do that on Thursday night against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League. It's so disappointing fans won't be there to see it but the blow of having supporters banned by UEFA was softened slightly by Austria going into another national lockdown this week, meaning the game will be played behind closed doors. All of that and much more is discussed on this week's show, as well as West Ham Women's huge 1-0 victory over Spurs with Kathryn Batte from the Daily Mail. Ahead of Sunday's trip to the Etihad, the lads are joined by David Mooney from the Blue Moon Podcast to get the lowdown on Man City for this week's Opposition View chat. And the lads talk through their Betway Charity Bet selections ahead of the weekend, with a couple of very, very attractive bets with decent odds! Well for the first time in what seems months, the We Are West Ham boys have something negative to talk about. After 150 ticket-less West Ham supporters stormed the turnstiles at the Hammers' last Europa League away game at GENK, Uefa have fined the club and banned away fans from their next European fixture - Rapid Vienna away. That has left the 1,700 ticket holders plus hundreds more Hammers fans planning to head to Austria for the celebration out of pocket to the tune of hundreds of pounds on money spent on flights and hotel. West Ham have criticised Uefa for the timing of the announcement and decided not to appeal having seen evidence. Will Pugh and James Jones are directly affected having booked flights and accommodation and the lads do not hold back when giving their opinion on the parties concerned. Having not had a chance to discuss last week, the chaps give their thoughts on Daniel Kretinsky's £180million investment into the club. The lads also make their Betway charity bets ahead of West Ham's visit to Molineux on Saturday. And Dan from the Wolves 77 club pod joins the lads to chat about the game as eighth-placed Wolves go into the game in middling form. Will and James look back at West Ham Women's 2-2 draw against Reading when the girls threw away a lead AGAIN! All that before some final thoughts and the usual dollop of banter and peeks behind the curtain. Thanks so much for listening - last week's pod made our top three most listened which is superb. West Ham are almost through yet another international break, but thankfully James Jones and Will Pugh are at your service once again to make things a bit more interesting. With no fewer than eight players out on international duty, it's great to finally see West Ham's superstars getting recognition on the international stage, albeit with the added anxiety of them all returning injured and prepared to get back to the more important job of keeping up our strong start to the season. That's more important than ever before as we embark on a crazy fixture schedule that sees David Moyes' men play five games across 19 days in three different competitions. So on this week's show, James and Will discuss the players out on international duty, compare outfits ahead of the Football Content Awards on Thursday night (we're nominated for a gong!) and give their views on the controversial takeover of Newcastle, which sees them become the richest club in world football under questionable new ownership. It was a weird week for West Ham.  After comfortably brushing aside Rapid Vienna in the club's first-ever home Europa League group stage match, David Moyes' side conceded a a 94th-minute goal to newly-promoted Brentford at London Stadium in the Premier League. But despite the negative thoughts that inevitably follow a defeat - especially in those circumstances - we must not lose sight of the fact West Ham are still having a really good season.  It was only the Hammers' second defeat in all competitions since the 1-0 home loss to Everton back in May, so there's absolutely no reason to start panicking just yet. West Ham have taken to European football like a duck to water with a 100 per cent record in Group H without conceding a goal.  And that's the general consensus on this week's episode as James Jones and Will Pugh - in Reece's absence - discuss the win over Vienna and defeat to Brentford in detail.  The lads touch on the Vienna fans and the 'trouble' on Thursday night, Peter Bankes' performance in the middle against Brentford, Tomas Soucek's worrying form, Jarrod Bowen's epic fitness levels and much, much more! Despite it being an international break, there's still so much to discuss on this week's show. The lads also chat about PAI Capital's decision to step back from their attempts to buy the club, Sunday's protests and the lovely new statue of Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters outside the stadium. Last week's Betway charity bet selections are reviewed. And lastly, the lads are joined by The Daily Mail's Kathryn Batte, who gave her thoughts on West Ham Women's outstanding 2-0 away victory over Manchester City in the WSL. It's an epic show and plenty to get through so whack the kettle on and enjoy! Hello to all our new listeners! We've had a few record-breaking weeks on the listener front this season so welcome. West Ham won two fantastic back-to-back away games since the last podcast. A first win at Old Trafford in 14 years followed by a dramatic late winner at Leeds thanks to Michail Antonio. The Carabao Cup win at Man Utd was somewhat dampened by immediately drawing Man City in the next round but the 1-0 win thanks to Manuel Lanzini's early goal was a stunning achievement nonetheless. That was followed by an important 2-1 win at Leeds which the travelling fans loved. But West Ham have no time to rest on their laurels as it's another double header before the next pod. Rapid Vienna roll into town on Thursday for West Ham's first ever home Europa League group stage game. Tom from the 'Other Bundesliga podcast' dials in to give a view on the opposition for that one. Before Billy Grant from the Beesotted pod joins to look ahead to Brentford's first ever visit to the London Stadium on Sunday. Will Pugh is joined by Reece Bayliss and James Jones to discuss all of that and make their Betway charity bets selections after ANOTHER winner in the Leeds game. Our loyal listeners can also win TWO free tickets to the Europa League game at London Stadium on Thursday. Visit @WeAre_WestHam on Twitter to find out how. In one of the most dramatic and heartbreaking ends to a football match in living memory, David Moyes' decision to sub on Mark Noble to take a last minute penalty against Man Utd backfired in dramatic fashion on Sunday. The Hammers legend hadn't warmed up and was thrust into the action at London Stadium to try and make it 2-2 after ex-West Ham man Jesse Lingard had oh-so predictably broke Hammers hearts - coming off the bench to complete the Red Devils' comeback after Said Benrahma and Cristiano Ronaldo had scored in the first-half. Will Pugh, James Jones and Reece Bayliss discuss the rollercoaster ride and also cover the Irons' historic win at Dinamo Zagreb in their first ever Europa League group game on Thursday. The lads also make their Betway charity bets with some money landing after the Man Utd defeat. Moyes' men have the opportunity for immediate revenge as they travel to Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. SunSport's Kieran Benn dials in to look ahead to the Hammers' visit to Leeds on Saturday before some final thoughts from the boys who then say goodbye for another week. West Ham United play their first ever Europa League group stage game away at Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday. And the Hammers cap off a historic week by welcoming a Cristiano Ronaldo led Manchester United to the London Stadium on Sunday. It all comes after a dull 0-0 draw at Southampton in the Premier League where Michail Antonio's stupid sending off means he will miss the Red Devils' visit. But the point means David Moyes' men are unbeaten in their first four Premier League games and are sitting reasonably pretty in seventh. Will Pugh is back from Portugal and is joined by Reece Bayliss for this week's show with James Jones taking a holiday of his own. The lads react to the Saints draw and ask if Craig Dawson's time is up with Kurt Zouma surprisingly left on the bench. There are TWO opposition views as Lovre Nikolac from the Croatian Football Podcast dials in from Dalmatia to let West Ham fans know what to expect from Zagreb. And sports journalist Matt Beadle gives the Man Utd perspective with the Reds looking strong domestically after Ronaldo's arrival. The boys of course make their Betway charity bet selections. And discuss West Ham Women who've had a disappointing start to the season – losing 2-0 at Brighton on the opening day before late heartbreak in week two saw Aston Villa equalise at the death in a 1-1 draw. All in all, it's a fantastic show at the start of a historic week for the Hammers. Hello to all our new listeners, we've had a couple of record breaking weeks on the listener front so welcome. West Ham are still in the Europa League group stage! It's not a dream. And that was proved by Friday's draw when the Hammers were picked to play against Dinamo Zagreb, Genk and Rapid Vienna. It's an exciting time to be a West Ham fan and even Saturday's slightly disappointing 2-2 home draw with Crystal Palace couldn't put a dent in most Hammers' positive vibes. So imagine how they felt when the club actually made three signings in the last week of the transfer window! Kurt Zouma arrived from Chelsea, Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow and Alex Kral from Spartak Moscow. Still no striker but all in all, it was a solid enough window and with Irons fans' expectations on the floor in recent times, there seemed a pretty buoyant mood among the fanbase after Tuesday's deadline. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Reece Bayliss to discuss all of that and more. There's Palace reaction, Betway charity bets, West Ham Women with the Daily Mail's Kathryn Batte, a quiz and plenty beyond. Thanks so much for listening!
