Wenn Menschen in deutschen Städten gegen die Bombardierung von Gaza auf die Straße gehen, sind naturgemäß viele unter ihnen, die sich den arabischen Palästinensern besonders verbunden fühlen. Von „importiertem“ Antisemitismus wird dann gesprochen, als hätten sich die schlimmsten Formen des Antisemitismus nicht im „christlichen Abendland“ manifestiert. Noch wichtiger ist allerdings die Frage, ob es sich bei der aktuell wieder aufflammenden Kritik an israelischem Staatshandeln überhaupt um „Antisemitismus“ handelt. Yakov Rabkin sprach von einer Politik „ethnischer Dominanz“ seitens der israelischen Regierung. Wenn Deutschland seine „Lehren aus der Geschichte“ gezogen hätte, würde es gerade hier aufseiten der Opfer eingreifen oder wenigstens einen neutralen, vermittelnden Standpunkt einnehmen. Dazu scheint speziell Außenminister Heiko Maas jedoch weder fähig noch willens. Nibelungentreue und eine ausgeweitete militärische und sicherheitspolitische Zusammenarbeit prägen das Verhältnis zwischen Israel und Deutschland. Das Land in Nahost exportiert zudem Methoden des „Sicherheitsstaats“ und der Aufstandsbekämpfung und positioniert sich als Vorreiter eines neuen Illiberalismus. Nach 11 furchtbaren Tagen der Gewalt in Palästina/Israel und der Bombardierung Gazas mit über 230 Toten, darunter mindestens 64 Kinder, fast 1.400 Verletzten und Zehntausenden Wohnungslosen gibt es seit der Nacht zum 21. Mai einen Waffenstillstand. Die ökologischen, materiellen, aber auch insbesondere die psychologischen Schäden und die Traumatisierungen, vor allem die der Kinder, sind unbeschreiblich und werden sehr lange nachwirken, in Gaza und in Palästina/Israel. Deutsche Politiker wiederholen das Selbstverteidigungsrecht Israels wie ein Mantra, ständig ist die Rede von den militanten Palästinensern und der radikal-islamistischen Hamas. Ständig wird die Gefahr vor dem „importierten Antisemitismus“ beschworen, da viele Teilnehmende bei den sogenannten „israelfeindlichen und antisemitischen Demonstrationen“ migrantischen Ursprungs mit muslimischer Religionszugehörigkeit sind. Es ist höchst besorgniserregend, wenn Politiker wie Philipp Amthor ausgerechnet anlässlich des Jahrestags der Befreiung von Auschwitz davon spricht, Judenhass sei „natürlich vor allem in muslimisch geprägten Kulturkreisen stark vertreten“. Dieser unsäglichen geschichtsverfälschenden Behauptung widerspricht Ronen Steinke und betont, dass diese Aussage „schon rein faktisch Unfug“ ist. „Juden haben zwar auch unter muslimischer Herrschaft jahrhundertelang keine Gleichberechtigung genossen. Von regelmäßigen blutigen Pogromen à la Europa war man dort aber weit entfernt. Nirgends ist die Unterdrückung von Juden harscher gewesen als im christlichen Abendland“ (1). Wenn Politiker und Politikerinnen, Antisemitismusbeauftragte oder andere „Berufene“ von „importiertem Antisemitismus“ schwadronieren, sollte man ihnen diese klare Zurückweisung von Ronen Steinke um die Ohren hauen. Die einseitigen Solidaritätsbekundungen von Bundesaußenminister Heiko Maas für den rechten israelischen Premierminister Benjamin Netanjahu und sein Besuch in Israel sind mehr als peinlich. Ich schäme mich dafür und frage mich, ob Maas, ein Mitglied der SPD, sich jetzt mit dem rechtsextremen ungarischen Premierminister Victor Orban auf eine Stufe stellt. Ungarn verhinderte einen Aufruf zu einem Waffenstillstand vonseiten der EU-Mitgliedsstaaten durch sein Veto. At a time when violence in the Israel-Palestine conflict is making major world headlines, we'll take a closer look at some of the dynamics playing out in the region with three guests. Ron Rousseau is one of the Canadiand participating in this year's Freedom Flotilla attempting to breach the ISraeli imposed blockade on Gaza. Sean Clinton is a Palestine solidarity activist based in Limerick Ireland. He speaks about the lucrative 'Blood Diamond' industry in Israel and the potential of a boycott to pressure the government and military. Yakov Rabkin is a Professor of History at the University of Montreal, and the author of two books on the history of Modern Israel and the Zionist movement. He outlines some of this history and the internal and external forces continuing to drive Israeli expansionist policies and violence.
