This is One Luckygirliegirl — the podcast where I talk about random stuff with my awesome friends. I’m Christina Aldan. Growing up in poverty in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I remember lying down in the tall grass and staring up at the sky, trying to escape the trauma being inflicted on me and dreaming of moving out of my small town. I never would have believed that I'd be lucky enough to build a career as an international speaker, trainer, and brand consultant but that’s where I am today. I have traveled the globe, speaking in front of thousands about how they can create their own luck, just like I did. I’ve met a lot of cool folks along the way and this show is a chance to grab time with some of the best people I know and talk. I hope you enjoy these conversations as much as I do.
I met Aaron Phillips, The Voice, at a networking group about a decade ago. We've remained friends ever since. He has hosted hundreds of shows and events in the time that I've known him, from local events to national-level. The best part about our friendship is watching how much we have both grown and changed in the last few years. He had a life-changing wake-up call that caused him to dramatically change his weight and his attitudes. He wrote a book about his journey and on this podcast episode, he shares a bit of his journey with us, like getting off his medications and learning to jump rope at age 52. Everyone, please enjoy this conversation we had when Ceciley and I took the time to catch up last month. She's the first person to "play hooky" on my show.
If there was a conversation where you want to be a fly on the wall, this is it. Leisa and I have been friends for ...wooooo! 8 years? 9 years? I tell her that I measure the timeline of our friendship by the age of her kids. I think I was mentoring her daughter, Kyndl, when she was just becoming a teenager. And then her other wonderful daughter, Kevyn. And now they both have blossomed into smart, helpful, headstrong young women. I enjoy hanging out with ALL of Leisa's kids and I think that really says a lot about her approach to parenting and to life, in general. She has been an active organizer in our Las Vegas community ever since I've known her, and she has managed many political campaigns for numerous local women. Tune-in to this episode, where I talk to Leisa Moseley about guilt, raising 4 wonderful children, and having the best year of her life.. https://eatmydessertfirst.com
Dr. Venkat Subramaniam is an award-winning author, founder of Agile Developer, Inc, and creator of agilelearner.com. He's trained tens of thousands of software developers worldwide. He's also among my most humble and generous friends. Plus, he's a pretty funny guy. I sat down to chat with my friend, Venkat, at the end of last year, about not-technology this may be a side of him you've never seen before. I hope you enjoy this podcast episode of 1 Luckygirliegirl. Connect with Dr. Subramaniam at http://agiledeveloper.com. p.s. Sorry apologies Acropolis, I had just been researching The Colosseum earlier and my brain just grabbed onto the first monument that came to mind. I blame the brain fog. Lol. I wasn't sure about putting out any content lately. I was supposed to put out this interview last month, but the political climate in the United States has just been tumultuous, what with that armed milita storming the US Capitol. It's been quite chaotic. Regardless, it seems like governments are beginning to distribute the COVID vaccines and the United States is moving forward from the failed coup, so I decided to put out this podcast episode that I recorded in November with one of my favorite people on the planet. Jeff Strauss is one of those people who helps you feel at ease within moments of meeting him. He's got a sharp mind built to solve problems through connecting people. I always enjoy our conversations. I've missed our conversations during conferences. Betchya didn't know he solves Rubik's cubes in a flash! What else don't you know about Strauss? Tune-in to this podcast episode of "1 Luckygirliegirl" to learn more about my friend, Jeff Strauss. We cover a lot of topics like having young kids in school, naming our cars, book-writing, self-care, and the importance of moving your whole body ESPECIALLY when you sit in front of a computer doing repetitive movements every day for work. And. So. Here it is: The episode of the first person to ever be censored from my podcast... before the coup tried to stop our democratic process, before the vaccines started being administered... recorded in a slightly happier, but-still-uncertain time: Episode 3 of "1 Luckygirligirl." https://www.linkedin.com/in/straussjeffrey/

I met Shawn Wildermuth and his wife, Reza when we attended AntarctiConf in January 2020. It was the first-ever Tech Mastermind Conference in Coastal Antarctic Waters. Shawn is a really sensitive and empathetic person. I enjoyed dinner conversations or singing karaoke with him and Reza on the cruise ship to Antarctica. Listen to this interview as we discuss overcoming poverty, bullying, and his new documentary "Hello World" which will be released on December 15th to encourage diversity and inclusion in technology.
