What if the secret to productivity isn't another to-do list or time‑hack, but a universal map of what it means to be human? In this episode, host Gerald J. Leonard welcomes Dr. James Smith, systems thinker, author of The Real Map of Life, and a man who has lived every corner of his own framework. From delivering newspapers and working on a farm to becoming a hospice chaplain, a banker, and finally earning a PhD, Dr. James discovered four dimensions that underpin every decision, every goal, and every moment of fulfillment. Gerald and Dr. James explore these four universal categories: Energy & Emotions, Human Relationships, Physical Things, and Money. They dive into why energy is the most overlooked pillar of productivity, how a broken rudder sank a battleship (and what that means for your goals), and why focusing only on money makes you lose your soul. Dr. James also shares how leaders can use a simple matrix to transform team dynamics without manipulation or fear – and why creativity and imagination are the true drivers of human development. Additionally, Gerald opens up about his own recovery from severe vertigo and how shifting his focus to energy and relationships attracted unexpected success, including a book deal and a new home. If you've ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure which part of your life needs attention first, this episode offers a science‑backed, deeply human compass. Ready to stop drifting and start steering? Listen now and discover your own Real Map of Life. What We Discuss [00:00] Introduction [02:01] Meet Dr. James Smith and The Real Map of Life [04:30] The four universal dimensions of human life [06:04] What "energy & emotions" really mean [08:34] Why physical things are separate from energy [10:20] How Dr. James became "the map of life" [12:52] Using the four dimensions to prioritize what you need most [14:34] Advice for overwhelmed professionals [17:11] Gerald shares his vertigo recovery story [22:32] Goals as your rudder [23:56] "Creativity takes a system and manipulates it" – the Rubik's Cube analogy [28:45] Money as a human system [31:04] Gerald's lesson to his kids [33:11] How leaders can use the Real Map matrix [38:06] Where to find Dr. James and his book [40:44] Outro Notable Quotes [05:04] "These are the universal categories in the universe and they're real. They're not fanciful. They give us a sense of: I can do something with this." – Dr. James Smith [06:04] "There's bioelectric energy in our body, the same as sunlight, the same as a photon and it activates hormones, gives us emotions, and connects synapses for everything that makes our body work." – Dr. James Smith [16:05] "When we focus only on money, that's when we lose our soul. Your soul is your relationships and your feelings — and your money and your things will follow those." – Dr. James Smith [21:56] " I didn't call what I had a disability. I called it a constraint because words creates our world." – Gerald J. Leonard [23:46] "The most important goal is to keep our creativity and imagination alive — because that is the driver of human development." – Dr. James Smith [25:13] "Create and imagine upon what you want until you have the skills to get what you want. Then there'll be less fear, less uncertainty, less doubt." – Dr. James Smith [29:19] "Understanding that 99% of people only receive money from other people is the key. We must serve one another — all money comes from other people." – Dr. James Smith [31:09] "The size of your paycheck is based on the value that you deliver. If you invest in yourself and become more valuable, people will figure out how to keep you around." – Gerald J. Guided Question How should believers respond when Scripture challenges modern cultural assumptions about gender roles, authority, and visible expressions of faith? Summary In this sermon on 1 Corinthians 11:2–16, Dr. Robert Lewis addresses one of the New Testament's most debated and culturally sensitive passages: head coverings in worship. Framing the chapter as a theological “Rubik's Cube,” he carefully examines Paul's teaching on Christian tradition, authority, and God's design for order. Dr. Lewis explains that 1 Corinthians 11 discusses two traditions—head coverings and the Lord's Supper—and focuses here on the doctrine behind head coverings: the principle of headship. Drawing from the relationship between God the Father and Christ, he highlights the biblical pattern of equality in essence with distinction in function. Applying this to men and women, he argues that Paul's instruction was rooted not in temporary culture, but in creation order. Rather than promoting legalism, the message calls believers to wrestle honestly with Scripture, to understand the meaning behind tradition, and to consider how visible practices can reflect spiritual realities. The ultimate aim is harmony, humility, and faithfulness to God's design within the church. Outline I. Christian Tradition and Context (1 Corinthians 11:2, 17–34) Two traditions addressed: head coverings and the Lord's Supper The importance of understanding the meaning behind church practices II. The Principle of Headship (1 Corinthians 11:3) God → Christ → Man → Woman Equality in essence, distinction in function Order as part of God's design III. Head Coverings in Worship (1 Corinthians 11:4–6) Worn during public prayer and prophecy A visible symbol of authority and distinction IV. Rooted in Creation (1 Corinthians 11:7–12; Genesis 2) Creation order as the foundation Mutual dependence “in the Lord” V. Nature and Symbolism (1 Corinthians 11:13–16) Hair length as a natural distinction Head covering as a spiritual symbol Affirmed as apostolic practice among the churches Key Takeaways Christian traditions are meant to communicate theological truth. Biblical headship reflects order, not inequality. Equality of worth does not eliminate functional distinction. Visible practices can teach and reinforce spiritual realities. Scripture must be wrestled with, not ignored. Cultural shifts do not automatically nullify biblical principles. Faithfulness to God's design requires humility and courage. Scripture References 1 Corinthians 11:2–16 — Head coverings reflect divine order in worship. 1 Corinthians 11:3 — The order of headship is established. John 5:30 — Jesus submits to the Father's will. John 6:38 — Christ fulfills the Father's purpose. Philippians 2:6–11 — Equal with God, Christ humbles Himself. Colossians 2:9 — Christ possesses full deity. 1 Peter 2:23 — Jesus models trusting submission. Genesis 2 — Creation establishes male–female order. 1 Corinthians 11:7–9 — Creation order shapes distinct roles. 1 Corinthians 11:11–12 — Men and women are mutually dependent. 1 Peter 3:7 — Husband and wife are fellow heirs. 1 Corinthians 11:17–34 — Worship must reflect reverence and order. 1 Corinthians 14 — Corporate worship requires structure and clarity. **Discussion begins at 4:15**In this chaotic rapid-fire episode, we put the deep dives aside and let the conspiracy theories fly. This week we're discussing viral internet theories, and with only two minutes on the clock, listen to the 3SQ react, debate, and dissect them in real time. We dive into a number of theories, including claims that Mountain Dew can predict the future, that Timothée Chalamet might secretly have an alter ego, the parallels between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy, and even asked whether the Rubik's Cube could somehow unlock the secret to time travel. Some theories sounded almost believable. Others completely unraveled within seconds. All of them sparked instant chaos. This episode is fast, funny, unhinged, and full of the kind of wild conversations that happen when three conspiracy-loving hosts are forced to rely purely on instinct. Expect hot takes, accidental comedy, and a whirlwind tour through some of the internet's strangest viral theories.Send us Fan MailSupport the showTheme song by INDA

How the science of the vagus nerve explains anxiety, ambition, burnout, and the art of becoming who you actually are. Humans, might be the most sophisticated organism on Earth (capable of writing symphonies, landing on the moon, and inventing artisanal sourdough). Yet at our core, we are running threat-detection software that predates the dinosaurs. Stephen Porges, the scientist who mapped the vagus nerve's extraordinary influence on human behaviour, joins us to explain why this ancient wiring is quietly making most of your big life decisions for you. The good news is that evolution, for once, gave us a rather elegant solution. Safety — genuine, physiological safety — unlocks curiosity, creativity, and the particular satisfaction of becoming who you actually are. The even better news is it's achievable without a retreat, a cold plunge, or a subscription. What you'll take away: Why your gut reactions are data, not drama How the environments we build either cage or liberate our best thinking Why the most calming people aren't trying to be calm Your nervous system has been waiting for this conversation. What are ProducerHead Loops? Gems from past conversations worth running back. Perfect for when you need a quick hit of inspiration.Basic Printer has a term for the gap between making music and doing something with it.Interfacing with the world. And in his view, that interface is a Rubik's Cube most independent musicians haven't even picked up yet.The full stack mentality isn't about doing everything alone. It's about understanding enough of the whole picture to have a real plan, not just a dream. Because as he puts it, there's a road to run between here and that dream that won't just show up for you. What landed for me was how he thinks about the plan itself. Not as a rigid structure but as a trick of the mind. Something to get you out of the chair and moving. The plan leads to the next question, which leads to the next skill, which leads to the show. And by the time you're there, you've already become someone different in the process. He also said something that doesn't get said enough: if you keep laying plans and can't find the motivation to execute any of them, maybe the honest answer is that you don't actually want this very much. Not as a judgment. As permission. The world asks how serious you are the moment you make your first song. Not everyone has to answer the same way.The part I keep coming back to is a moment he described on tour in San Diego. Mid-run, out of nowhere, a dip in confidence. Suddenly convinced his music sounded like the Wiggles. Talking to his keyboardist, genuinely questioning whether he could stand behind the stuff he'd made. He said you just know when that's a real voice or just the dragon you're slaying. The fact that he went on stage anyway tells you everything about what kind of stress he's dealing with. The good kind.ProducerHead is a podcast and publication for producers who want conversations that go beyond gear. Your gym staff isn't bad at sales. You just never gave them what they actually need to close. In this episode, Mike Arce breaks down the CPT Sales Machine — the 3-part framework behind the gyms GSD works with that consistently hit 80%+ close rates, even as they raise prices. Here's the hard truth most gym owners miss: you're great at sales because you have conviction no employee will ever naturally match. Your gym is your baby. Theirs is a job. But conviction can be built — and when you pair it with the right process and the right training rhythms, your staff starts outselling you. One of our member gyms went from 15 new members a month to 35–40 — not by hiring better people. By fixing these three things. In this episode: Why you're the only one closing at your gym (and why it's not your staff's fault) The CPT Sales Machine: Conviction, Process, and Training — in order of importance How to build real belief in your team using daily wins, mission talks, and monthly member stories The pre, during, and post sales process your staff needs to stop winging it The 3 training rhythms that separate gyms with 80%+ close rates from everyone else BONUS: The 4 Levels of Certainty every prospect needs before they'll buy If you're tired of being the only one who can sell at your gym — this one's for you.

Episode 165 Atlas Ocean Voyages Review: Is the World Voyager Worth It for Antarctica? We just returned from one of the most bucket-list trips on the planet, an Antarctica expedition cruise aboard Atlas Ocean Voyages World Voyager, and we're breaking down everything: the ship, the staterooms, the food, the service, the expedition experience, and whether the $10,000–$15,000 price tag is actually worth it. This wasn't just a cruise review. This was one of our hosted group trips through Sunshine Travelers Experiences, so we lived this voyage alongside a group that had been planning it for years. We were intentional about every choice, ship size, itinerary, and overall value, and Atlas Ocean Voyages delivered across all three. If you're researching Antarctica expedition cruises, trying to decide between small ships vs. large ships, or wondering whether Atlas Ocean Voyages is the right fit for you, this episode is the deep dive you've been looking for. What We Cover in This Episode Why Ship Size Is Everything for AntarcticaWith Antarctica's strict rule that only 100 passengers can be on land at any one time, choosing a ship under 200 passengers changes the entire experience. On the World Voyager (153 passengers on our voyage), everyone gets to land on each expedition. Larger ships in the 200–499 passenger range technically qualify for Antarctica, but the rushed logistics mean you spend more time waiting than exploring. The Boarding ExperienceFrom the moment we arrived in Ushuaia, the experience felt like boarding a private yacht. Luggage was whisked directly to the ship, champagne and canapés were waiting in the lounge, and we were escorted to our stateroom with no long lines, no chaos. Stateroom Breakdown: Horizon Stateroom vs. BalconyWe booked the Horizon Stateroom, which features a floor-to-ceiling window that lowers halfway, giving you open-air views from the comfort of your cabin. In Antarctica's cold, this turned out to be the perfect choice over a balcony. The rooms also come with:- Oversized rain-head shower with body jets and a bench (no tiny cruise ship shower here)- Premium L'Occitane*bath amenities- Ultra-soft bedding, plush pillows, robes and slippers- Mini fridge stocked with your preferred beverages at no extra charge- Chaise lounge sofa, desk, and satellite TV with a curated film library *Note: Starting April 1, 2026, the Horizon Stateroom is being reclassified as a Junior Suite and will include Butler service. Daily Life & Expedition StructureEvery day was structured around two expeditions, typically one Zodiac tour and one shore landing. Passengers were divided into two rotating groups (ours was the "Weddell Seals"), so no single group always had priority. Plans changed constantly based on weather and ice conditions, and flexibility is key, but the expedition team handled every pivot seamlessly. The boot room (mud room) was central to the experience. Atlas provided parkas rated for extreme cold, rubber boots, and cleaned your gear between every landing to protect Antarctica's ecosystem. You keep the parka at the end of your voyage. Food & Dining: Better Than You'd ExpectDining was consistently one of the strongest parts of the ship. Here's what's included:- Main Dining Room: Buffet-style breakfast and lunch plus a rotating themed set menu for dinner (Italian, Asian, etc.) with multiple courses- Paula's Pantry- Counter service from 6:30 a.m. serving pastries, coffee, sandwiches, and daily rotating snacks- Afternoon Tea: Daily in the lounge with an extensive Kusmi Tea selection- 24-Hour Room Service: Full menu available any time — the midnight burger was excellent- All alcohol included: Beer, wine, and spirits all day, every day (except before excursions abd they enforce a strict no-alcohol policy before Zodiac tours and landings)- Fresh bread, pastries, and desserts baked daily by one dedicated baker and two pastry chefs using European-sourced ingredients What's Included in the PriceAt $10,000–$15,000+ per person (shoulder seasons like November and March on the lower end; peak and suites on the higher end), here's what's covered: the pre-voyage hotel night in Ushuaia, your flight to Ushuaia, the day tour before embarkation, all meals, all beverages (including alcohol and specialty coffees), gratuities, parkas, water bottles, and all expedition activities. Optional add-ons include kayaking, overnight camping on the continent, the Chef's Table, and spa treatments. Service: Nearly 1-to-1 Staff-to-Guest RatioWith approximately 130 crew members serving 153 guests, the service was personal in a way that's simply impossible on a mega-ship. Within a few days, staff knew every passenger's name. Our waiters remembered our preferences from the first meal. Gratuities are included, but the culture of going above and beyond was evident everywhere. The Expedition TeamSixteen experts from 11 countries — glaciologists, marine biologists, geologists, wildlife specialists — led every shore excursion with genuine enthusiasm. Sign up for a dinner with an expedition team member if you can; it's complimentary and completely worth it. Onboard Highlights You Wouldn't Expect- Crew Talent Show: One of the best evenings of the trip. Staff who you'd only seen behind the counter transformed into dancers, musicians, and a Rubik's cube speed-solver — all live.- Galley Tour: Met the executive chef and toured the immaculate kitchen — complimentary, not an upcharge.- Open Bridge Access: Visit the ship's bridge and talk with the captain and expedition leader — no extra fee.- Ship Stabilizers: Made a real difference in comfort during Drake Passage crossings.- Spa & Sauna: The sauna and heated loungers with panoramic windows overlooking Antarctica were unforgettable. Basic access is included; spa treatments are extra. Who Is This Ship Right For? The Atlas Ocean Voyages World Voyager is for travelers who want an immersive, destination-first expedition, not entertainment-heavy cruise-ship nightlife. Expect educational lectures, wildlife encounters, and an intimate atmosphere rather than big Broadway-style shows. If you want everyone on the ship to know your name by day two, and you care more about getting *on* Antarctic soil than watching it from a deck far above the water, this is your ship. Atlas also sails Arctic itineraries(summer), Mediterranean routes (summer), and a few Caribbean itineraries during transitions, and much of what we've described (small ship intimacy, included inclusions, exceptional service) applies to those voyages too. A Way with Words — language, linguistics, and callers from all over
Whether it's a Rubik's cube or a round of Wordle, why do so many of us find puzzles irresistible? A new book celebrates the allure and psychological benefits of brain teasers. Plus, powerful new language for talking about the chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities that sap a person's energy and focus. And what would you wear to a wet dress rehearsal? (Hint: You'll need a helmet.) Plus ditloid, eat a peck of dirt before you die, a game to make you sigh, apologizing to fellow drivers, how to pronounce aunt, why we call a qualifying race a heat, prejudice about dialects, and age-old advice about delegating responsibilities. It's so good, it'll make your tongue slap your brains out! Hear hundreds of free episodes and learn more on the A Way with Words website: https://waywordradio.org.
