Known for exposing government corruption, Travis aims to continue public service by ensuring efficient use of tax dollars. He will challenge incumbent Austin Thompson, focusing on keeping taxes low, supporting diverse housing, and aiding small businesses. A Lawrenceville resident, Travis has served as a poll worker and on the city’s Financial Review Citizen Committee. Married for 41 years, he values community ties, Georgia Gwinnett College, and small business growth. His campaign emphasizes a safe, vibrant future for Lawrenceville. STORY 2: Gwinnett man killed, woman injured in shooting at Norcross area hotel A shooting at the Horizon Inn & Suites in Gwinnett County late Tuesday left 29-year-old Andre Jones dead and a woman injured. Police found Jones with a gunshot wound to the chest; he later died at the hospital. The woman, an apparent bystander, sustained a leg injury but was not involved in the altercation. Detectives are investigating the motive and pursuing leads. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Gwinnett police or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. at the hotel on Dawson Blvd. Police continue to seek answers in this tragic case. STORY 3: Socialist group to hold immigration protest in downtown Lawrenceville Protestors will gather in downtown Lawrenceville on Saturday afternoon to oppose immigration raids and arrests, organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation. The "Hands Off Immigrants" protest will take place at 2 p.m. at Bicentennial Plaza, a busy area near Lawrenceville Lawn. The group advocates for socialism, criticizing capitalism for creating a "repressive state" and endorsing revolutionary change. Police have warned of potential traffic disruptions from 2 to 6 p.m. but pledged neutrality while ensuring safety. The event follows a tense immigration protest in DeKalb County last weekend, where tear gas was used, and arrests, including a journalist, were made. Originally awaiting a job offer from Central Arkansas, they found their calling at GAC, where they viewed their work as a ministry. Kristy coached softball and volleyball, winning multiple championships, while Cliff led the baseball team to a record number of victories and served as associate athletic director. Honored with the "Shelton Stands" at GAC’s baseball park, the couple plans to move to Arkansas to be near family. They look forward to new pursuits like writing, golfing, and fishing while continuing to find purpose in helping others. The charges, including reckless driving and running a red light, stem from incidents in May and June, unrelated to his June 14 arrest. Guevara, known for live-streaming ICE arrests in metro Atlanta, was detained by ICE after being granted bond. His attorneys question the timing of the charges, emphasizing his innocence. Guevara, in the U.S. on a valid work permit, is currently held at ICE’s Folkston Detention Facility while pursuing permanent residency. STORY 7: Georgia Senate Republicans vote on new leadership amid big shuffle The Georgia Senate is undergoing a major leadership shakeup as Republicans elected Sen. Jason Anavitarte, R-Dallas, as the new majority leader and nominated Sen. Larry Walker III, R-Perry, as president pro tempore. Anavitarte, serving since 2021, steps into the third-highest Senate role, leaving his caucus chair position vacant. Walker’s promotion, pending a full Senate vote in January, would also create a leadership gap. These changes follow Lt. Gov. Burt Jones’ anticipated gubernatorial run, triggering leadership shifts as Sen. Steve Gooch and Sen. John F. Kennedy vie for Jones’ position. Four of six top Republican Senate roles will change next session. What do Pathfinder classes, Muppet horror, and himbo culture have in common? Absolutely nothing—so obviously we made a whole episode about it. Big thanks to Dungeon Master Adamantine for sponsoring this episode—if you want to roll dice in Greece with a professional GM who can out-roleplay Zeus himself, summon Nick at dungeonmasteradamantine.com or book him Startplaying: https://startplaying.games/gm/dmadamantine (but maybe not during a boss fight). In the third (and arguably most chaotic) installment of our deep dive into Pathfinder classes, the RPGBOT.Podcast crew goes full gremlin. Join Ash, Randall, and Tyler as they discuss the remastering of Pathfinder, family hijinks, the unexpected depth of 'himbo' culture, the musical Wicked, and how to reimagine Sesame Street as a TTRPG murder mystery. Also, yes—we talk about actual Pathfinder classes. Probably more than you'd expect given how much time we spend dunking on action economy and imagining eldritch Elmo. This episode features critical evaluations of the Animist, Exemplar, Gunslinger, Inventor, Kineticist, Magus, Psychic, Summoner, and Thaumaturge classes. Which ones are too complex for beginners? Which are secretly brilliant? Which would Kermit play? All this and more in an episode that sounds like it was brainstormed on a sticky note found in a Waffle House parking lot. Archives of Nethys (affiliate link) Sesame Street Content from RPGBOT.news PF2 Character Optimization RPGBOT.Podcast Episodes PF2 Starting Classes Part 1 PF2 Starting Classes Part 2 Dark Archive Review Guns and Gears Remastered Review Rage of Elements Review War of Immortals Review Key Takeaways The Vibes: Podcasting is hard. Podcasting while discussing Muppet horror fiction? Harder. Humor is a necessary survival skill—especially in family life and game design. Yes, you can enjoy Wicked without knowing the entire Wizard of Oz lore tree. Himbo culture is more than just muscles and charm—it's a way of life. Classy Evaluations: Animist – “What if your divine caster was also a spirit medium with an emotional support ghost?” Surprisingly elegant. Exemplar – A mythic powerhouse designed for epic-level play. Great if you like spreadsheets and divine empowerment. Gunslinger – Surprisingly tactical. Better than expected. Imagine Yosemite Sam, but with feat optimization. Inventor – Simple. Straightforward. Hits things with science. Ideal for players who want to cosplay as Iron Goblin. Kineticist – Offers power and flavor, but the mechanical complexity is dense. Approach with coffee and patience. Magus – Action economy is a problem. Looks amazing on paper, but in practice, it's like juggling flaming swords while solving a Rubik's Cube. Psychic – Big flavor, intimidating mechanics. Could be brilliant, could be brain-melting. Much like psychic powers, really. Summoner – You share HP with your pet kaiju. It's a relationship built on trust, trauma, and tactical retreat. Thaumaturge – A fan favorite. Big bag of tricks, satisfying mechanics, and good for players who like yelling “Your weakness is friendship!” Creative Chaos: Elmo as an unknowable horror from the Darkest House? Canon. Kermit the Frog: bard? gunslinger? morally neutral cleric? All viable builds. You can adapt Sesame Street to a Pathfinder game, but you probably shouldn't. But if you do, please invite us. Meta Moments: Some Paizo devs are probably listening. Hi! We love you. Please don't smite us. Podcast guests matter. Good ones make everything better. Bad ones get reincarnated as spellcasters with 3-action teleports and no way to cast them. The community continues to influence Paizo's design—your feedback does matter. Listener Homework Build a Thaumaturge with a Sesame Street theme. Bonus points for cursed items shaped like puppets. Try Wicked. Then stat out Elphaba as a Witch with the Hex trait. Rubik's is Life by Pierce by 826 Valencia
Prepare to have your understanding of human potential completely shattered. In this mind-bending episode, Dr. Edith Ubuntu Chan reveals how children as young as 5 – and some even earlier than that – are learning to see perfectly while completely blindfolded: reading books, playing chess, solving Rubik's cubes, and even perceiving objects thousands of miles away through video calls. This isn't magic or trickery; it's a documented phenomenon that's quietly spreading across the world, with kids activating these abilities within minutes of their first training session. Dr. Edith argues we're witnessing the emergence of a new generation of children who are here to show us dormant abilities we all once possessed – abilities that challenge everything we think we know about consciousness, reality, and what it truly means to be human. With growing communities of families experiencing these "impossible" phenomena firsthand, the question isn't whether this is real, but whether you're ready to accept that we're on the cusp of a fundamental shift in human consciousness that will obsolete our current understanding of education, science, and the very nature of perception itself. https://www.dredithubuntu.com/ http://www.blindfold.vision Subscribe to Here for the Truth Fridays. This Week on America's Podcast: Coheed and Cambria Strap on your space helmets and tighten your prog-rock seatbelts, because this week on America's Podcast, we descend into the melodically twisted, comic book-fueled universe of Coheed and Cambria—specifically, their tongue-twisting opus Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. (Yes, that's the full title—breathe now.) We wrangled in the ever-insightful Favio Vegas to help us untangle this prog-rock Rubik's Cube. Is this album a poetic masterpiece that'll make you grab your 10-speed bike and ride toward destiny? Or does it leave you staring into the void, waiting to be Welcomed Home by better decisions? No spoilers—but expect plenty of interdimensional confusion, some mild existential dread, and a whole lotta guitar wizardry. Tracks of the Week slap harder than a caffeine crash at 4AM: Marc goes full nocturnal with “4am T.M.” by Heavy Bones—because nothing says productivity like insomnia and power chords. Jerry walks the straight and sinister path with “Devils Row” by The Reality of Yourself—spooky, soulful, and possibly cursed. Favio chooses the narrative path with “The Story” by Envy of None—turns out even envy has layers. When a winemaker builds a giant Rubik’s cube in McLaren Vale, fills it with Salvador Dali sculptures and art, and creates wines that pair with songs and poems, you know you’re about to discover something extraordinary. Chester Osborn has constructed what shouldn’t work but absolutely does – a surrealist manifesto planted in the heart of South Australian wine country that would make André Breton proud and the Márek Brothers, those Czech surrealist pioneers who shocked Adelaide in 1948, absolutely delighted. Our SA Drink of the Week flows directly from the architect of this impossible vision, as Chester pours his Vociferous Dipsomaniac 2010 – a wine that transforms before our very palate, revealing violet gardens and a scattering of spices whilst teaching us that great winemaking is really just the elegant management of faults. Like the Cube itself, this shiraz demonstrates that the most revolutionary act might simply be saying “yes, and” to the impossible. The Musical Pilgrimage takes an unprecedented turn as we hear both Chester’s stream-of-consciousness theory connecting wine to quantum physics and time dilation, followed by Steve Davis’ original piece called “Folded Clocks” – a meditation on Salvador Dali’s persistence of memory, created in response to his visit to the Cube where he experienced its artistic revelations firsthand. Running Sheet: Surrealism In Wine And Life With Chester Osborn 00:00:00 Intro Introduction 00:01:56 SA Drink Of The Week The South Australian Drink Of The Week is d’Arenberg‘s 2010 The Vociferate Dipsomaniac, which Steve tastes with winemaker, Chester Osborn at the Duke Of Brunswick, which has a full suite of these intrepid wines. The name alone suggests Chester Osborn’s approach to wine nomenclature – dreamt up, he cheerfully admits, during morning toilet contemplation whilst reading the dictionary for “really interesting words.” This particular shiraz demands vigorous pursuit because it’s so compelling you’ll vigorously drink it, potentially earning the archaic designation of “dipsomaniac” – an alcoholic, for those unfamiliar with the term’s English parlance. What unfolds in the glass defies every expectation of a fifteen-year-old wine. Where vintage wines typically announce their age with that slightly pruny, sweaty character, this Vociferous Dipsomaniac reveals itself like a perfectly adjusted doona on a winter’s night – balanced, enveloping, with tannins that recline gently into your tongue like a tired person settling into an armchair. The secret lies in Chester’s philosophy of elegant fault management: picking at relatively low sugar levels to avoid shrivel, eschewing nitrogen fertilisation since the nineties, and using super-light toast French oak that lets the 34-to-56-million-year-old limestone terroir speak its chocolatey, bloody truth. As the wine breathes – and Chester insists it breathes better in the bottle than in the glass, for complex reasons involving condensation and molecular romance – it evolves from subtle violet gardens to dark chocolate and beyond, revealing why this particular vineyard, nestled beside the d’Arenberg Cube, consistently produces the only wine in their 23 single-vineyard collection that always carries a whisper of violet. After our toast to Queen Adelaide and an hour of conversation, the wine has transformed into something resembling an IMAX cinema experience for the palate – bigger, bolder, more ornate, yet somehow more at home with itself. 00:21:21 Chester Osborn Chester Osborn has achieved something that should be impossible: he’s built a giant Rubik’s cube in McLaren Vale that functions as both architectural marvel and alternate reality museum, creating a space where Salvador Dali’s melting clocks teach visitors about the fluidity of time while wine ages gracefully in barrels around the sprawling property. The d’Arenberg Cube stands as testament to the “yes, and” principle of improvisational theatre – that beautiful concept of taking an idea and running with it, which Chester has literally fermenting in his cube through careful design. When Chester woke up in the early hours and abandoned plans for another “fake heritage” homestead in favour of “something iconic, something like the Opera House,” he wasn’t just changing architectural plans – he was embarking on a surrealist manifesto. The Cube doesn’t merely showcase wine; it’s an Alternate Realities Museum where eight parameters of weather transform into real-time sound as you approach, where hundreds of Chester’s sculptures tell stories connecting rocks, flowers and fruit to wine, and where 30-second surreal videos play on loop in a 360-degree room, each one representing a different wine in their collection. The building itself challenges conventional wisdom at every turn. Engineers, architects and builders all declared various elements impossible, leading to the invention of new glass sealing systems, wind tunnel testing in Melbourne, and the development of facade techniques that won national glass awards. “There is nothing impossible,” Chester declares, channelling his mother’s wisdom that “out of every bit of bad that happens, twice as much good happens.” This philosophy permeates not just the Cube’s construction but his entire approach to winemaking, where managing faults becomes an art form and time dilation theories merge with tannin structure. What makes the Cube truly revolutionary isn’t just its architectural audacity but how it functions as a catalyst for unexpected conversation. Chester describes watching visitors – including tourism professionals who know each other well – suddenly following tangents, becoming more open to possibility when surrounded by surrealist art. It’s as if Dali’s telephone with a lobster on top starts conversations about what we might be when we’re talking, whether we’re boiling away like lobsters, whether some people really do chew our ears off. The Cube becomes a space where lateral thinking flourishes, where Chester’s Asperger’s brain – storing wine knowledge in imagination rather than automation – finds kindred spirits among visitors ready to embrace the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary. Perhaps most remarkably, Chester pairs each of his 85 wines with a specific song and poem, creating a multimedia sensory experience that will be captured in his forthcoming book. For the Vociferous Dipsomaniac, he’s chosen The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm,” paired with his own poem connecting Morrison’s soft voice to wine’s penetrating vigour. It’s this integration of art, music, literature and wine that transforms the Cube from novelty to necessity – a place where South Australians discover that their square metre of earth punches well above its weight, where time becomes malleable as Dali’s clocks, and where saying yes to the impossible becomes the most natural thing in the world. 01:03:20 Musical Pilgrimage In the Musical Pilgrimage, we listen to Folded Clocks by Steve Davis and his Virtualosos. The Musical Pilgrimage takes an unprecedented turn with a dual revelation of consciousness and creativity. First, Chester shares his stream-of-consciousness theory recorded whilst driving – a spontaneous exploration of how energetic wines might age slower through quantum mechanics, where tannin tension creates light-speed vibrations that literally slow the aging process. His “Energetic Wines Explained Theory” suggests that great wines contain atoms vibrating near the speed of light, creating time dilation effects that preserve the wine’s essence – a notion that would make Salvador Dali proud with its beautiful impossibility. Following this quantum leap of imagination, we hear “Folded Clocks” – Steve’s original meditation on time, memory and surrealism created in response to experiencing Dali’s sculptures within the Cube. Using virtual tools to bring his words to musical life, the piece captures that transfixing quality of standing before art that refuses to be easily categorised, where melting timepieces suggest that our rigid relationship with chronology might be the real illusion.Support the show: https://theadelaideshow.com.au/listen-or-download-the-podcast/adelaide-in-crowd/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week's EYE ON NPI is renowned world-wide, it's onsemi's ARX383CS 1/8-inch 0.3 Mp Global Shutter CMOS Digital Image Sensor (https://www.digikey.com/short/45p5vfvr), a tiny pick-and-placeable vision sensor that is perfect for your next AI or robotics - or AI robotics - product! With the global shutter, you'll be able to get clear and complete photos each time, no matter your lighting and subject speed. We stock low-cost simple camera sensors like the OV5640 at the Adafruit shop (https://www.adafruit.com/product/5839) these cameras can do color, up to 720p or greater, and can even do internal JPEG compression before piping the image out of an 8-bit parallel interface. One thing that you'll quickly realized about these cameras is that they, like almost all cameras used for basic photography are rolling-shutter type. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_shutter) That means the sensor reads each individual pixel in a row before moving to the next column, perfectly fine as long as the thing you're photographing is moving slowly compared to the speed of the sensor iterator. For robotics vision projects, this often gives smeared or blurry images, and since time = money and thus you need to run the motor as fast as possible. For example, our SM481 pick and place (https://www.hanwha-pm.com/en-mo/product/detail.asp?product_info_id=189&cate_id=50) can do up to 40,000 components per hour, each one with vision inspection: that's 10 a second! Whether you are building the fastest Rubik's-cube solver (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59qgzzSD1tk) or a license plate reader (https://www.digikey.com/short/45p5vfvr) getting crisp-clear full-frame images is essential to make sure you get the best image. The ARX383CS (https://www.digikey.com/short/45p5vfvr) is sold as a chip-scale-package, meant for pick and placing directly onto a PCB or FPC. It'll need various power supplies and clock signal, as well as configuration over I2C and of course a lens and lighting. Once set up, images can be captured and sent over DSI/MIPI single-lane, at VGA 640x480 up to 120 FPS or quarter-VGA 320x240 up to 245 FPS. The available datasheet doesn't have all the details, you'll need to contact onsemi to sign an NDA for the full specifications. onsemi has also developed a read-to-go plug-in camera module that you can quickly integrate called the PRISM1M-ARX383CSSM130110-GEVB (https://www.onsemi.com/design/evaluation-board/PRISM1M-ARX383CSSM130110-GEVB) which is not in stock right now at DigiKey yet (https://www.digikey.com/short/zfm5d7tj) but we're sure that if you need it you can try contacting DigiKey's sales reps and they'll be able to get you samples and quantity pricing. If you don't mind a bulkier eval board, the ARX383CSSM28SMKAH3-GEVB (https://www.digikey.com/short/78p2c3dq) is available immediately for purchase. If you've needed to add fast video or photography to your next product, the onsemi ARX383CS 1/8-inch 0.3 Mp Global Shutter CMOS Digital Image Sensor (https://www.digikey.com/short/45p5vfvr) is an excellent way to add a VGA global-shutter sensor with 125 FPS VGA-resolution output and I2C control. Best of all DigiKey has tons in stock for immediate shipment, book today and they'll send you as many as you want in the blink of an eye so you can start getting high speed video integrated by tomorrow afternoon. Okay, put on your theological thinking caps, because in this podcast episode of The Patrick Madrid Show, you'll get a great answer to a BIG question: How do we know Jesus founded the Catholic Church and not some other Christian group? Patrick brings the receipts, the analogies, and yes… the flat earth references. The Question That Sparked It All A listener named Timothy emails Patrick this question: “Hey Patrick, aren’t you being a little harsh? You call out Protestants for coming down on Catholics, but then don’t you come down just as hard on non-Catholics? Aren’t both sides just passionate about what they believe?” Timothy’s tone is respectful. And Patrick loves it. He takes it seriously. He gives a full, no-punches-pulled response: rooted in reason, history, and good old-fashioned Catholic confidence. The Flat Earth Analogy Patrick compares Protestantism to… flat earth theory. Not because Protestants are dumb (he’s clear about that; they’re very sincere, smart, and well-meaning), but because: You can be sincere… and still be sincerely wrong. He argues that Protestant theology, like flat earth theory, is demonstrably false. It just doesn’t hold up when you look at Scripture, history, and the writings of the early Church Fathers. Just as science clearly disproves a flat earth, Church history disproves that Protestantism was ever the original Christianity. So, What Does the Bible Say? Patrick points out that Protestantism often relies on concepts like: Sola Scriptura ("Bible alone") Once Saved, Always Saved …which aren’t in the Bible... and in some cases are even contradicted by the Bible. He brings up passages like: 2 Thessalonians 2:15: Hold fast to the traditions, oral and written. 1 Corinthians 11: Keep the traditions as I delivered them. These support Catholic teachings about Scripture and Tradition. Patrick says that trusting only personal Bible interpretation turns the faith into a theological Rubik’s Cube: everyone has their own twist on it. That’s just not how Jesus set it up. Early Christians Weren’t Protestant, They Were... Catholic He brings up St. John Henry Newman, the Anglican scholar who tried to disprove Catholicism… and ended up converting because the evidence was so overwhelming. The early Church: Believed in the Real Presence in the Eucharist Celebrated the Mass as a sacrifice Had sacraments, priests, apostolic authority Baptized babies Defended Trinitarian doctrine against heresies And all this was happening centuries before the Reformation. Protestantism, Patrick argues, is a latecomer: a break from the historical Church, not a return to it. The Church is Noah’s Ark Patrick closes with a beautiful, personal touch: The Catholic Church is the Ark Jesus built to carry us through the flood of confusion, division, and error. He didn’t leave us a Rubik’s Cube Bible to figure out solo. He left us a Church: one, holy, catholic, and apostolic. That’s why Patrick is confident, not just passionate. He's not trying to win arguments. He’s trying to show that there’s an unbroken, visible, historical Church founded by Christ, and it’s Catholic.

Bhuwan Pyakurel, a former refugee from Bhutan, resettled in the United States in 2009. He and his family moved to Ohio in 2014 and he became a U.S. citizen in 2015. They bought their first home in Reynoldsburg and immediately became involved in the community. Bhuwan and his wife, Dil, have been married for 14 years and they have two children, Aditi and Dev, both who attend Reynoldsburg Public Schools. Aditi loves reading and volunteers her time to raise funds to protect the environment. Dev loves sports and plays basketball and soccer, and enjoys skateboarding, karate, chess, and solving the Rubik's Cube. As a community leader, Bhuwan has worked with the Reynoldsburg Police Department and residents ever since he moved to the city. He believes education is the most important tool to bridge the gap and build trust between those in public safety and the community. Since 2015, Bhuwan has been a manager of interpretive services for Primary One Health, which operates 10 clinics in Central Ohio, and he also serves on the Board of the new Reynoldsburg YMCA. He has also served as President of the Bhutanese Community of Central Ohio (BCCO). For Ward 3 residents and all of Reynoldsburg, Bhuwan's plans include: helping keep Reynoldsburg residents safer by fixing sidewalks, roads and infrastructure and improving lighting, increasing the number of code enforcement officers in the City, boosting communications and transparency between City Council and citizens by using modern technologies, and making City government work better for the people of Reynoldsburg by holding regular town hall forums with constituents. Bhuwan, who has a Bachelor of Science degree from North Bengal University in India, and the City of Reynoldsburg made history in November 2019 when he became the first Bhutanese American to be elected to public office in the United States. After he and 120,000 fellow Bhutanese-Nepali's were forcibly pushed out of Bhutan and their civil, human and political rights stripped away, Bhuwan says he will “always be grateful to this nation for giving me a second chance to live my life and enjoy these freedoms in the greatest country in the world.” Bhuwan deeply values his American citizenship and its inalienable protected rights, and he now works to “pay it forward” and create new opportunities for the people of Reynoldsburg.

We can't believe it. Can you believe it? We actually finished reading Finnegans Wake. What started out as a podcast to read an "unreadable book" has turned into a journey that has endeared us to a magical community, connected with our family and friends, and reawakened our sense of what art can be. While sometimes it felt like climbing a sheer cliff-face, the toeholds we gained along the way made this a delightfully fulfilling project. For this final episode, Toby and TJ look back on WAKE and consider how you know when a project is over, embracing confusion, and how much we appreciate the spectators at the end of a marathon. We talk Joyce on film, Pinter, the Beatles, Lord of the Rings, and hypertexts, and pinpoint the exact moment the Harry Potter franchise lost TJ. We take on translation, and gimmicks, and mountaineering, and the question of how-fast-is-too-fast-to-read-the-Wake. Then, as we consider the stadium-sized Rubik's Cube that is the Wake, we are visited by the Patron Saint of WAKE for words of congratulations. In this episode, we're tackling the boss-level challenge of parenting teens headed for college with Dave Kozak of Elite College Planning. The fellas get real about the stress of saving for college (spoiler: most families feel behind), the ever-growing cost of tuition, and whether the whole college experience is actually worth the hype—or just a very expensive four-year experiment. Enter Dave Kozak, our financial Yoda for the episode. He breaks down college savings like it's Money 101 for Hogwarts parents—especially 529 plans, which are basically your magical vault at Gringotts. He also explains the difference between “green money” (the scholarships and grants—aka free money, the good stuff) and “red money” (loans, aka the dark side). Plus, he's all about helping parents level up their strategy when it comes to understanding financial aid, college pricing games, and how to help your kid channel their inner Elle Woods and advocate for themselves. So if college planning feels like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube blindfolded, this episode's here to help you figure it out—and have a little fun along the way. #586: If you are a complete beginner at finances, or if you know someone who is, this episode is for you. The biggest hurdle for beginners? Money seems complex and intimidating. But Scott Yamamura, author of Financial Epiphany, explains personal finance doesn't have to be complicated. He breaks compound interest into three easy-to-grasp frameworks: Money as a Multiplying Ability: Just like athletes have peak physical abilities in their 20s, your money has its greatest multiplying power when you're young. At age 22, every dollar invested can multiply 16 times by retirement (assuming a 40-year career and 7.2 percent returns). The Doubling Framework: Money can double approximately every 10 years with average market returns. This explains why a dollar invested at 22 becomes $2 by 32, $4 by 42, $8 by 52, and $16 by 62. The Halving Concept: With each decade that passes, your money's multiplying power gets cut in half. This is the inverse of the above idea. Scott shares how these simple frameworks helped him front-load his son's college savings. "We can stop now because it's going to double," he said. For beginners struggling with analysis paralysis, Scott offers a Rubik's Cube analogy: You don't need to understand all 43 quintillion possible combinations to solve it — you just need one simple method to get started. Similarly, you don't need to master every financial concept to begin investing. The most important step is just to get started. You can learn the complexities later, but starting early gives your money more time to grow. Scott also emphasizes finding your "why" — a purpose bigger than just accumulating wealth. He shares a moving story about a man named Ernie who funded his mission trip to Sierra Leone, showing how money can be used to make a profound difference in people's lives.
