At the Barbell is a podcast about fitness.
In this episode Joe and I ramble on about what strength training means to us and how it has impacted our lives. This episode we will elaborate more on in another show when it comes to trends in the social media world. Some are not trends and here to stay, some are click bate. Strength Training is something that is not only for the right now but also the long haul. It's there to build your body up stronger and more resilient towards what life can throw at you..... biggest one getting older. If you enjoy the episode please share it on the socials or with someone you know might enjoy it! Please feel free to tag us @serenitystrong @barbellsboltsandbourbon
Today I ramble on about joy and what it can do for our lives. That there are times it can be hard to find the joy in the sorrow/sadness. That the darkness we are in almost blinds us to the fact we can still find the joy. You are human to feel emotions other than JOY, sadness is apart of life. Though if we are not careful we can pull ourselves into a deeper, darker sadness. Why having humans around you that you can reach out to and help you slowly start to climb back up out of the darkness and start to see the light in life :)
I come out of hiding to record a much needed episode! I ramble on about fixed vs growth mindset and how both of them can be helpful as you navigate life. How you can do anything you put your mind to, how powerful the mindset is, & give you tips to get some actionable steps towards your goals or dream! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/serenitystrongpodcast/message
Apologies a head of time for the botched editing. Still trying to figure it all out + getting kicked off my recording a couple of times. This episode is talking about the brain and how each one is different. From everything we go through, who we have early on in life, experiences all shape us into who we are and who we will become, Come hang out with me as I ramble on about life, Environment, mindset and how you can change all of them to have a much different outcome than you currently do. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/serenitystrongpodcast/message
Today I ramble on about the power of words, especially the ones we say to ourself & how they can change our view. How the words we say to start our day can truly set the tone. Change the way you talk to yourself & start to feel/see the magic that comes with it. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/serenitystrongpodcast/message
Today I ramble on about how we have to let go of hate. Yes I get there are humans out there that do very shitty and horrible things to others. While we can very much dislike them continually breeding hate will never get us in the duration we truly want to go with life. You can not like how someone lives their lives but it doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong you just see it like that. Remember that kindness, love, understanding will get you farther in life than anything will. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/serenitystrongpodcast/message
Today the talk is about the agreements we have with ourselves and the one we collect from others along the way. Knowing that you have the ability to change your life every damn day. To not be afraid to live life how you want to & do things you have never done before! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/serenitystrongpodcast/message

Owning Your Shit, easier said than done. How does one own they're shit? For me is that you drop the victim mentally. That doesn't mean what has happened to you doesn't matter, you do not let it define you. You own your shit knowing that good and bad things will happen. You wake up daily and make choices that have outcomes. You do your best to live life how you want to while knowing you will have to tweak things along the way. Love who you are, make peace with your past, know you are human and will be right and wrong, own your actions and choices, & fall more involve with life that you did before. You are a strong human and can overcome more than you ever imagined. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTuElM6T50wJoe Rogan has a great YouTube video called "be the hero of your story" its the cup of coffee you need in the mornings to get you going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTuElM6T50w --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/serenitystrongpodcast/message

This week, Shelby interviews Cliff Rudzki of 5 Seasons CrossFit in Cedar Rapids. Cliff talks about how he found CrossFit and what led him to owning and leading his own gym. He also talks about his journey battling cancer both vicariously through his son and then firsthand a couple of years later. Through those tough times, the gym helped Cliff maintain his sanity and remember that attitude is everything. Cliff grew up in a south suburb of Chicago. He'd say he’s lived a pretty privileged life, with a very modest upbringing. He was always good at sports (except basketball...), and he started playing ice hockey in middle school, and played through high school. He was pretty talented, enough to gain "assistant captain" status, but never really had the grit to take it to the next level. His hockey career ended when high school ended. He was more concerned about getting a college education, chasing girls, and partying. After a short couple years at an Illinois state school, where he met his now, beautiful wife, Nikki, he transferred to Iowa State University, to pursue chemical engineering. He knew zero people at the school. All he had was his Volkswagen Jetta, time, and a hunger to do something athletic. He literally tripped over a sign, advertising "Crew" club and decided that sounded bad ass and he should go check it out. He met lots of friends in the next few years rowing, and in the process built some incredible physical strength & endurance, but he thinks more importantly mental strength: the piece he was lacking as a young high school hockey player.
