There were numerous occasions in the life of David when all that is expressed in the psalm might have been said by him, just as there are many occasions, in the lives of all of us, to which the sentiments of the psalm would be appropriate.
In todays podcast, Dr. Ablon explores how conventional deiscipline methods often backfire, creating a downward spiral of resentment and frustration, and a missed opportunity for growth. In this refreshing approach of changing problem behavior, Dr. Ablon helps parents to understand that often behaviour is a result of "skill, not will". He looks at how like flexibility, frustration tolerance, and problem solving are all required to help a child to move through challenging moments- and how often these skills need to be nurtured in our kids. In the podcast, Dr. Ablon walks a parent through how to use collaborative problem solving when her child refuses to get off of his xbox! We were treated to a fantastic British GP that saw Hamilton get back on the top step of the podium after 56 races, which would make 2 yrs, and 7 months. Changeable conditions and thrilling race moves is always what Silverstone produces ! Gutted for Russell who had scored pole for Mercedes who were 1-2 in qualifying showing just how much speed and pace thier car has now acquired, but only to retired mid race with a suspected water pump issue. Another pretty miserable race for Ferrari especially on the Lecric garage. McLaren especially Norris were gutted not to get the win after a strong performance by them and Piastri. Strong drive from Max & RB !!
Changeable weather conditions in both qualifying and the race combined to make this a Canadian GP to remember. Mercedes' George Russell and McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris both looked strong in various stages of Saturday and Sunday but in the closing moments of the race, on a dry track, in a Safety Car re-start, it was Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen who drove impeccably to win. McLaren and Mercedes picked up the minor placings, with Sir Lewis Hamilton setting fastest race lap, but it was a mediocre day for Aston Martin and a deplorable weekend for Ferrari, who, with both cars, failed to make Q3 and finished short of the chequered flag on Sunday. As Peter details in this podcast, there was also a sour note in the closing stages when Red Bull Racing, in order to try to avoid a Safety Car deployment, instructed their second driver, Sergio Perez, to drive slowly back to the pits after leaving the road and damaging his RB20. Send me your thoughts in a Text MessageMeet Dr Amy Johnson. In the episode, Amy shared her awakening story and together we explored what awakening is.Your biggest problem as a seeker is that you don't know how to stop seeking, so the seeking continues. And it shows up as thoughts and associated feelings of not enough, this is not it, there needs to be more, something better, this cannot be accepted and so on. And you can see these patterns play out as soon as you stop for a minute and do nothing. In the moment of listening and looking deeply at what is already here, the habitual thought patterns are clearly revealed. Something opens. And you are suddenly aware and awake. Amy Johnson, PhD is a psychologist, coach, author, and speaker who shares a groundbreaking new approach that helps people find lasting freedom from unwanted habits, anxiety, and self-doubt via insight rather than willpower. She is the author of Being Human, The Little Book of Big Change: The No-Willpower Approach to Breaking Any Habit, and Just a Thought: A No-Willpower Approach to End Self-Doubt and Make Peace with Your Mind. Morning Mantra: “Change is not an event, it's a process.”Everyone understands that if you don't like something you should change it. And if you can't change it, you have to accept it. It's easy to think that once you make the difficult decision to change something in your life that it's done. Now, everything is different, better, fixed. The decision to change is only the first step. There are a million small steps that are taken to achieve big change. There will even be sone steps in the wrong direction thrown in. Just remember, your desire to change isn't going anywhere unless you keep moving towards your goal.Compassionate self-awareness will guide you; harsh self-criticism will only hold the pattern in place. Every day adjust and take a step in the right direction. Then another.
