Couple things: The painting is called The Nightmare, but no, the term "nightmare" predates it by approximately forever. So, I was totally wrong. As far as the horrifying painter and the nightmarish sculptor I was talking about, I had to go digging through an ancient, humming external hard drive I haven't used since college to find their names. They're buried in the ether of the internet; luckily, I wrote a travel piece for The Drummond Island Digest back in 2010, in which I describe my excursion to the back-alley art gallery. The painter's name is Sereirrof, and his work is every bit as haunting as I remember. You can check out his website HERE.Here are some of his paintings: These Haunted My Dreams The Sculptor's name is Yoann Penard. I cannot recommend his work highly enough. In my opinion, he's one of the most talented and visionary artists I've ever encountered, and I've never forgotten the day I first experienced his work. Take some time and look through his website (above). I saw a lot of those sculptures while I was in France, and his new work is only getting better.
