Following on from a four-star run at Camden Fringe 2024 and Voila! Theatre Festival 2024 in London, THAT BOY HAS NO SHOES comes to Cape Town. This ‘moving retrospective’ about early Apartheid is a unique encounter with four South African artefacts who appear onstage to tell the audience about their experiences from 1940 to 1976. An axe, an eviction notice, a passbook, and a camera will share what they witnessed, telling stories of who they saw, what they did and where they were left behind. Combining verbatim text with storytelling, the result is 'compelling' and 'powerful'. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Wadjasay? American English Pronunciation Practice

Send me a text message. Suggestions? Subjects for future podcasts? Let me know--thanks!I wrote this poem this morning to use for reading and pronunciation practice in my class on Tandem. I didn't write it deliberately to be good for teaching English, but it turned out that it was. Hope you like it.I'VE LOST MY MINDI've lost my mind.I asked my wife.“Look in your jacket pocket,” she said,Like my mind was a wallet or keys to the house. No dice.I asked my son:“Check in the freezer,” he said.“Maybe it fell in there when you were looking for ice cream.”I looked. Not there, But I did find a mango-strawberry popsicle.I asked my daughter.“Did you look in the car?” she asked. “You're always leaving stuff in the car.”I checked on the seats and under the seats and behind the seats—no luck. I even checked in the trunk. My mind wasn't there, but I found a lot of trash.I bagged it and tossed it. I even vacuumed Up all the sand from our last trip to the beach. Finally I asked my dog.He stood on his hind legs and looked into my head. Then he barked, licked my ear and VOILA!My mind rebooted! It wasn't lost at all. Just napping or maybe MIA.Man's best friend, the dog.Only one thing worries me.Did he find my mind by sight—Or smell?By B. Steamy Stories Podcast

Two stories of scholarly lasses with healthy libidos.Based on the posts by Select Redux. Listen to the ► Podcast at Steamy Stories. Stimulating ReadingSexual adventures amid the bookshelves.Unlocking the big oak doors, Emily glances up at the Spring sun filtering through the stained-glass windows of the 'Institute'. Originally endowed by a Victorian benefactor, now part of a modern university, this old building goes unnoticed by most people passing by on this bright 1993 morning. The research library within opens just three days a week with Emily, its part-time librarian, fitting the job around her PhD studies. Some colleagues consider it a fusty backwater; Emily rather enjoys the church-like surroundings, lofty ceilings and marble floors, and calm, quiet ambience.Starting the day as usual at 8.45am, Emily turns on the lights, picks up the post and then sits at the front desk waiting for students to arrive. The job isn't the most exacting; mainly helping undergraduates locate obscure books, its perk being plenty of time to write her thesis and, blush-making to admit, peruse the rather splendid erotica section. Something that's become a bit of a habit, leaving her distracted and almost perpetually aroused. This 'special collection' is kept locked; its key is supposedly secure in a safe; in fact on a chain around Emily's neck. Currently 'in between boyfriends' (no, not like that!) in truth modern men, mostly boys inhabiting adult bodies in her opinion, don't do it for Emily. Call her traditional, she wants someone old-fashioned.Emily's romantic, bookish outlook on life sometimes feels unsuited to modern times and is exemplified by today's attire: cardigan, blouse, and a string of pearls, the epitome of respectability; a typical librarian. A knee-length skirt, sensible shoes, minimal makeup and glasses habitually perched upon her head complete the academic look. However, underneath one (who? she reflects glumly) might be surprised to find some almost sinfully brief lingerie adorning her trim figure. Perhaps not so conservative;Later that afternoon, Emily looks at her watch, half an hour until closing, not likely to see anyone else today she thinks. Wrongly, because striding confidently through the rotating door and purposefully approaching her desk is a new customer. In contrast to the usual scruffy students (although arguably the lecturers are worse) he's smartly dressed. Wearing a tie in fact; Emily likes a chap in a suit and his fits very well. This tall man with silvery grey hair favors her with a confident smile and Emily melts inside, lust at first sight.Michael, they are quickly on first name terms, is a postgrad mature student working on the final dissertation of an English literature MA. He's taken a couple of weeks' leave from an unspecified (Emily suspects high-powered and well-remunerated) job to complete it. Meaning, she sends a silent prayer of thanks to whichever celestial deity might be responsible, he'll be making frequent trips to the library. Visits she soon begins to eagerly anticipate, feeling disproportionately disappointed on days when this charming, personable and undoubtedly assertive man doesn't appear. Get a grip girl, chides her inner voice, whatever your fantasies this is a purely professional relationship."What did you do before studying," she enquires one morning."Came from money, followed the family tradition into the City and made some more," he shrugs. "Clichéd thing for a privileged person to say but it didn't make me happy.""What does?""Good writing, which explains why I'm here in literary mode, how about you?""A very bright kid from a feckless, under-achieving family; got a scholarship, got out of my dead-end town and got a higher education. Not having money means I have to take a series of dull jobs to pay my way." There's no need to make her point any more strongly, Michael gets the implication."I detect a steely determination," he responds without rancor."Academically, yes," she agrees, "in order to remain with my beloved books, but unfashionable though it is I'd happily be rescued by a knight in shining armor. Will you be my knight?" Christ, she thinks, where did that come from? Silly mare you've blown it now."If you'll be my damsel in distress I'd be delighted," Michael answers lightly, but a die has been cast."What are you working on today?" he enquires conversationally when next visiting."These books were recently acquired for the special collections section. I'm trying to catalogue them," she explains, outwardly serene, but heart beating fast."Ah the erotica," Michael raises a knowing eyebrow, "better leave you to it then." He turns to a nearby table with a couple of hefty tomes and commences making notes while covertly observing Emily, absently twirling a lock of hair with one hand, the other no longer on the table but underneath. Much later, abruptly jolted from a pleasurable reverie by his shadow, Emily becomes abruptly aware of Michael's looming presence."You're spending a lot of time on books from that particular genre," he says, it isn't a question."Well; " she stammers."Perhaps that's why you've twice left the University's precious erotica shelves unlocked lately?"Her eyes widen in shock. "How did you know?" It's true, no point in denying the fact."I notice things. An accident I'm sure, but rather careless, some might even say naughty. Are you naughty Emily?" Silence, the cat has got her tongue. "Do you deserve to be punished? Might that be a better solution than the matter being brought to the attention of the Vice-Chancellor?" Michael presses home his advantage. "Those rare editions are extremely valuable. Perhaps you need to be taught a lesson, bought to book one might say." Emily gets the joke, but it's no laughing matter."Punished; lesson?" she stammers, "what do you mean?""I think you know to what I'm referring, you've read enough about spanking, no doubt wondered what it might be like. I don't believe you're as innocent as you pretend Emily, I saw you slide a hand under your skirt just then. Most unprofessional, you deserve to have your bottom smacked.""Oh; " Overwhelmed by his quiet certainty that she'll obey, Ellie discovers in herself a complimentary willingness to defer; feels her pussy throbbing with desire at every word Michael utters. This is ridiculous, thinks her rational brain, I'm an independent woman, he's no right to demand my obedience. But you know you want to, responds her libidinous subconscious, you've so often dreamt of such a scenario, and how you'd willingly submit; She nods anxiously towards the door. With an unreadable expression, Michael walks purposefully towards the entrance, locks it and returns."Bad girls require discipline," he whispers in her ear."They do, sir," she meekly agrees."Come here." Emily stands next to him, hands behind her back."Turn around and lean forward against the desk."Deferentially, eyes downcast, Emily complies; wrapping his left arm around her slender waist Michael slowly, and deliberately raises her skirt. Emily wishes her boobs were just a little bigger; wishes her arse was just a little smaller but knows her lovely legs are just right. Now so does he.A grunt of male disapproval, "I don't like tights," he tugs her pantyhose down revealing flawless bottom cheeks, "next time I expect you to wear stockings." Next time, who said anything about next time? Despite her mounting panic, Emily has an epiphany of understanding; Michael's coercion is more implied than actual, less of a threat by him as a need within her. He runs his hands appreciatively over her pristine, unmarked bottom then tugs those unexpectedly racy, almost transparent black panties up hard into Emily's damp divide, the silken scrap disappearing between puffy pussy lips, chafing her swollen clit."Turns you on doesn't it" he growls, holding her tightly."Yes, but I'm scared," she whispers and it's true, the physical proximity and her helplessness in the hands of an alpha male are more exciting than anything Emily has ever before encountered.Emily tenses, holding her breath, awaiting the inevitable; yet the initial smack still catches her by surprise. At first, it's mainly about the ringing percussive sound, a numbing shock. Prudently Michael allows a pause, he can tell it's her first time. Gradually her skin pinkens and a sharp stinging sensation suffuses Emily's posterior."Oh," she looks at him wide-eyed, "oh yes," amazed by her compliance with the punitive intentions of a man she scarcely knows. A second spank, slightly harder this time."Feeling it now aren't you," Michael mutters, "rather different from in the stories you're so keen on?" True, the reality of what before was only fevered fiction is raw and immediate." I'll stop if you ask me to," he adds."Surely not when I've been so wicked," Emily replies huskily. The scene is set, and his hard palm strikes her bottom repeatedly as Michael methodically and unhurriedly continues, Emily's body responding animatedly to the burning sensation gradually suffusing her derriere."Keep still," he commands as she squirms in a futile attempt to dissipate the smart.Eventually, Emily has no idea how long, five minutes, or an eternity, Michael ceases her chastisement. Both are breathing heavily now, albeit for different reasons. He slides a hand up her inner thigh and under her knickers."Good girl," Michael whispers, pushing an exploratory digit into Emily's sopping sex. She shuts her eyes and moves against his fingers, Emily is needy, alas, her evident excitement is unrequited. Taking her by the shoulders, Michael turns the shaken young woman to face the wall."Make yourself respectable," he instructs in a tone countenancing no dissent, "don't move until I've left, no rubbing your bottom, or anywhere else. I'll let myself out," he kisses the top of her head, "and be back soon to do one final bit piece of research, don't miss me too much."And then he's gone; taken Emily to the edge and abandoned her unsatisfied. Which, thinks Emily, bottom glowing fiercely, is truly sadistic. Simmering with sexual awakening, she's no intention of being denied. Walking stiffly towards her chair Emily sits, wincing as her tender buttocks contact with the seat. Legs spread and eyes closed she pushes a hand down the front of her panties and addresses her pent-up frustration with flying fingers, and soon has a shattering orgasm. On Monday morning, after a weekend mentally replaying this momentous encounter, and multiple flouting of Michael's embargo on masturbation, Emily walks into work full of hope for what the new week may bring. Inwardly more confident, her outward appearance has also altered. She's taken more care with makeup, mascara and her favorite cherry red lipstick. Does her best not to tug down her hem at every step. Emily hasn't previously worn such a short skirt and worries people may notice she's wearing stockings. Once at work, it's business as usual, albeit with some appreciative glances from borrowers, being desired is an unfamiliar but welcome ego boost. Emboldened, Emily experiments with undoing the second button of her blouse. She can't conceal her unhappiness when Michael fails to arrive and becomes increasingly despondent when he doesn't turn up on Tuesday and Wednesday either. By Thursday she's almost lost hope. Turning to the erotica collection for comfort a photograph falls from between the pages of a book on 'Le Vice Anglaise'. Emily looks aghast, Michael! But it can't be, the date scribbled on the back is 1936, does her dom have a doppelganger? All too much of a conundrum to deal with in her overwrought state, Emily locks up early and heads disconsolately home.On Friday she settles onto her stool and re-opens the same book. Was Michael ever really here, she wonders? Could this have been some sort of hallucination, an epic instance of self-delusion? Of course not, get real, examine the facts, she inwardly chides. Consider the evidence of two days of sitting gingerly, the finger marks on your sore buttocks visible in the mirror. She was spanked alright, the pertinent question being whether she will see Michael again, let alone reach the sexual conclusion so ardently desired. Not being clairvoyant, Emily doesn't have a clue about either outcome, for now, she tells herself sternly, you'd better get on with some work. Mentally listing the day's mundane tasks Emily doesn't notice a familiar figure quietly enter the building until he's immediately adjacent. Caught unawares her incipient shout of shock is stifled by his hand."I'll remove it from your mouth," his voice whispers, "if you promise not to scream, understood?" Emily remains frozen, struggling to get to grips with her predicament, then nods assent."Where did you appear from?" she enquires in a small voice."Not important right now," he shushes."Your picture; " She points at the faded sepia print on the table."My father," he laughs, "chip off the old block, aren't I? Long gone, of course, he put up the money to establish the erotica collection you've so much enjoyed." Helping the shaken young woman to her feet he moves Emily to face a bookcase."Just relax," he says calmly, trailing a hand teasingly up and down the back of her thighs."Relax," she tenses at the suggestion, "when I don't know what you intend to do.""I think you can hazard a pretty accurate prediction," he teases."I'm quite sure you're planning to punish me again," says Emily shivering with anticipation at the thought, "what might occur afterwards is what's preoccupying me.""What do you hope happens?" he enquires, lips brushing the nape of her neck."I think you can make a very good guess," Emily replies cheekily.Right now, she can't think of anything she wouldn't let him do, Emily has read many salacious books and has a vivid imagination."I'm enjoying your new look," says Michael appreciatively, "let's explore beneath; " He unbuttons her blouse to the waist, frees her boobs and rolls each erect nipple in turn between finger and thumb. In response, Emily kisses him hard on the mouth, her acquiescence clearly in no doubt. His other hand slips between her thighs and encounters wetness between them. Emily moans at this touch, yearning to be penetrated by the hard cock she can feel bulging through his trousers and pressing against her thigh."You'll endure a harsher correction this time," he murmurs, bending Emily across the desk while removing his belt."The door", she gestures urgently. He shrugs off her concern. "We'll just have to take the chance; I find a little jeopardy adds a frisson of excitement." Wrestling up the short, tight skirt exposes the soft curves of Emily's hips and beautiful bottom; Michael monetarily enjoys the sight, and then pulls her knickers down and off."Someone wants to be fucked pretty badly," he observes, a hint of amusement in his voice as he glimpses her damp, pouting slit. With no warning he straps Emily, hard and fast, leaving blazing bands of hurt across both cheeks and down to her stocking tops. She yelps, groans and stamps her feet, nevertheless thrusting out her buttocks to meet each of the worn leather's cruel kisses. A further dozen overlapping strokes sear across her fiery red behind until Emily thinks she can't possibly endure further chastisement."Hurts," she whimpers, tears in her eyes, although the perfect pain only serves to stoke a fire of arousal down below. Aware of her limits Michael runs his hands along the insides of Emily's legs and pulls her knees apart, leaving her open and exposed. His tongue repeatedly explores the length of her labia, right up to the nub of her clit, building each caress into a rhythmic repetition. Emily feels an orgasm inexorably approaching, her breathing becomes fast and uneven."Fuck you're tight," he observes crudely, sliding a finger into Emily's inviting pink cunny and then positioning his erection at her slick entrance."Stop teasing and do it hard!" she screams, last vestiges of dignity and reserve surrendered. Lewdly Emily pushes back her hips, anxious to have him inside her. Equally caught up in the intensity of the moment, Michael fills the lusty librarian with the cock she craves. All inhibitions abandoned, Emily feels the rhythm of his thrusts increasing, her pussy spasms and takes them both to an inevitable sexual crescendo. They lay silent for a moment before Michael chivalrously passes Emily a large linen handkerchief to mop the come leaking onto her nylon-clad thighs."I think my poor bottom has suffered quite enough for one day," she whispers sensually, "how about you take me home to your place and fuck me again, slowly and gently?""How about we take one of the books from the special collection to provide us with inspiration?" he replies."Oh, I think I've already done quite enough research," Emily responds with a giggle."Then let's grab a bottle of wine and see if we can't put theory into practice," agrees Michael.Cut to a year later, doctorate earned; Emily has been promoted to take charge of the main university library. There's a new young woman librarian at the Institute, still on probation and requiring guidance. Emily considers herself a firm but fair manager and has kindly offered an after-hours tutorial on the special collection. The Queen is Mad is a musical tragedy inspired by the true story of “Joanna la Loca.” The elder sister of Catherine of Aragon, Joanna came to inherit the throne of Castile in 1504 – but her father and husband conspired to usurp her power by claiming she was mad and locking her away. Against the brutality and fanaticism of 16th century Spain, the show charts Joanna's quest for freedom and control of her own life. With shades of Passion and Wicked, this chamber musical fuses a contemporary classical score with a tale of power, betrayal and rage.

We love oranges for their fruity vitamin nature, but we don't realize that we make a huge mistake throwing away their peels. It turns out they can be used in so many different ways! Don't miss the fun bonus at the end and watch out for 3 light bulbs – the symbols of Bright Side we've hidden in this video. When you find them, make sure to let us know in the comment section. TIMESTAMPS DIY aroma candle 0:37 Save your plants 1:00 Keep the insects away 1:28 Great natural cleaner 1:53 A natural sponge 2:39 DIY Body Scrub 2:54 Start a fire 3:22 Deodorize your trash can and smelly fridge Shoe deodorant 3:41 Bonus: Orange smile 4:16 SUMMARY Orange smile: this use of orange peels won't save your plants or refresh your home, but it will surely brighten your day. Get creative with your kids or your friends and start an orange party. Eat the fruit, and keep the peels to cut some fun crazy designs to stick in your mouth. Now walk around as orange monsters trying to stay serious about it. See who will be the first to burst out laughing. Keep the insects away: orange oil works as a repellent with insects. Mosquitos, cockroaches and other bugs will leave you alone if you spray yourself with an orange peel repellent. Making it is super simple. All you have to do is dry some peels, blend them with water and keep the liquid in a spray bottle to be used whenever you need it. Rubbing orange peels onto your skin will have a similar effect if you don't have time to make the spray. DIY aroma candle: scented candles add a special aroma twist to your house and home. To make one of those yourself, cut the orange in half. Remove all of its contents, carefully leaving the stem intact. Then, fill the peel bowl with any cooking oil you like. Use the stem as a natural wick. Voila – your house will now smell like oranges, and it won't cost you a cent. How to Support the Rob Skinner Podcast.  If you would like to help support my mission to multiply disciples, leaders and churches, click here:  https://www.buymeacoffee.com/robskinner Transcript of the Matthew Series The Parable of the Sower Matthew 13:1-23 Introduction ·         Have you ever wondered why more people don't become Christians?  If the good news is so “good,” why don't people respond in greater numbers.  This chapter answers that question.  ·         The preceding chapters have been filled with a growing division between those who responded well and those who responded poorly to Jesus and his teaching.  He had just been criticized and accused of healing through the power of Satan.  What connects this chapter with the previous two is that it provides and explanation of why some people respond positively to Jesus' teaching and some don't.  Jesus will teach a number of parables in this chapter and what ties them together is how people respond to the secrets of the Kingdom of God.  Some are fruitful and some barren, some are good grain and some are weeds, some people are good fish and some bad and some respond radically when they stumble onto treasure or pearls and some don't.  This is the mystery of the Kingdom, why do some people “get it” and some don't?  Jesus teaches this chapter to help his disciples then and now not be so naïve in their expectations and to strengthen their resolve and conviction when people don't respond or turn away from the good news.  He also has just highlighted the privilege that disciples have in being part of the family of God.  And when you are a part of the family, you share in the family secrets which he reveals in this chapter.    1.     The Parable:  Matthew 13:1-9 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.” ·         13:1-2  That same day.  This is the same day that Jesus was in massive conflict with the Pharisees and accused of being a tool of Satan.  I would characterize that a “bad day.”  I'd probably head home for a little “me time.”  I'd whine to my wife and feel sorry for myself.  What did Jesus do?  He goes out and starts teaching them and his disciples!    o   What does it take to get you derailed from the mission? ·         I want you to imagine what this scene looked like.  He draws so many people that he has to set up a way to separate himself from the crowds.  He sits in a boat and teaches the crowds.    You have the crowd of hundreds or more and then you have a small boat with Jesus and his 12 disciples.  This picture illustrates the division that Jesus would go on to expound on.  There were the crowds and then those few disciples who were in the know.  It highlights the division in understanding and response that Jesus will go on to explain. 2.     Why Use Parables?  Matthew 13:10-17 10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” 11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see;     though hearing, they do not hear or understand. 14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;     you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. 15 For this people's heart has become calloused;     they hardly hear with their ears,     and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes,     hear with their ears,     understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'[a] 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. ·         13:10  Parables  After finishing an extremely short sermon and offering no explanation, no application and no “Next Steps,” Jesus turns to the disciples in his boat and has a private conversation.  This must have been an awkward transition.  Can you imagine if I gave a complete sermon like that?  I wouldn't be here for long.    He goes on to explain why he is using this unclear means of communication.  From here on Jesus leans more heavily on these parables and only teaches the crowds using these parables.  The disciples turn to him and basically say, “Why are you teaching this way?  Why are you teaching in riddles?  Why don't you just spell it out for everybody?  It was a great question.  The word parable has not come up yet in the book of Matthew, although we've seen it mixed in with Jesus' teaching. Parables is more than just a short story.  It includes proverbs, maxims, riddles, allegories, wise sayings and other pithy quotes.  We often define them as short stories that illustrate or make clear a spiritual concept.  However, what Jesus is saying is that for every person who is helped by a parable another person is simply confused.  In fact, parables hide things.  Their design is to not reveal or explain everything.  The listener is forced to bring something to the table.  You have to wrestle with it, meditate on it.  Parables offer a challenge to the listener.  Many will not take the time or energy to understand the meaning.  This is the point of what Jesus is saying.  This is why Jesus calls the message a secret, not everyone gets it.  That's why some people respond and some don't. ·         Matthew 13:11  The secrets of the kingdom of heaven.  To know the message of the Kingdom is to know secrets.  Remember the documentary, The Secret, that came out about twenty years ago?  It talks about the law of attraction.  The message of Jesus is a true secret, the Greek word is Mysterion.  It's the same word used in Daniel 2:18-19, 27-30 and 47 where Daniel is able to reveal the mystery of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream while all the other wise men and enchanters can't do it.  Jesus is pointing out that God reveals his secrets to those he chooses.  We learn by revelation not by being “smart” or having personal insight.  Jesus says the message is given to you, not to them.  This points out the clear division of people into two groups. ·         Matthew 13:12  This saying is similar to “Success breeds Success” or “It takes money to make money” or “The richer get richer.”  Jesus is saying those who understand God's secrets start multiplying in their growth.  Understanding brings more and better fruit and it causes a chain reaction of good things.  On the other hand, those who reject the truth lose everything, even what little they think they have.  If you've ever seen someone who walked away or rejected Jesus who once was loving, happy and growing and then see them after a number of years, you see the difference. o   Example?  ·         Matthew 13:13-15  Hard hearted or Rejected by God?  Jesus goes on to quote from Isaiah.  This passage reveals the problem that people have in receiving God's word.  Their hearts are hard.  Most people can hear but only disciples can understand.  However, the point of this section is that people's response is both a fact of life and the purpose of God.  Mark 4:11-12 phrases it this way, “…To those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that, ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving.'”  Matthew states that Jesus teaches in parables because people's hearts are hard and Mark points out that Jesus teaches in parables to harden people's hearts.   This emphasizes that Jesus teaches in parables to conceal the truth to some.  That doesn't sound encouraging does it?  This is one of those mysteries between human will and God's will.  Do people not respond because their hearts are hard or because God doesn't allow them to see the message?  It's like two sides of the same coin.  In any case, it is hard to avoid the difficult truth that God has chosen some to respond and others to reject his truth.  Parables reinforce this separation of response.  People respond according to their capacity, some are receptive and some not and that is how God has intended it.  You may not like it, but that's the way it is. ·           The best way to understand that is with illustrations: o   Pharaoh in Romans 9:16-18  16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God's mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden. §  The Bible says that God raise him up for the very purpose of highlighting God's power and glory.  Pharaoh's stubborn heart triggered God's plagues of power.  However, Pharaoh was at fault for being hard hearted toward Moses' words.  o   Butter and clay.  When the sun shines on butter, it melts.  When it shines on clay, it hardens.  Is it the sun's fault?  No.  It has to do with the response and makeup of the object. ·         Matthew 13:16-17  Blessed are your eyes.  Jesus is pointing out how lucky, how blessed, how privileged any person is who has heard and understands the word of God.  Why?  Because that understanding is a gift of God.  Without that revelation you would remain blind to God's secret.  o   We take it our faith for granted.  We neglect the Bible.  We don't appreciate what God has done in opening our eyes.  We wonder why others don't see what we see.  We wonder if we are wrong in our understanding.  You need to consider yourself the most blessed because God has opened your eyes to the truth.  We need to be grateful that any people make it at all. 3.     The Explanation:  Matthew 13:18-23 18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” ·         13:18  The parable of the sower.  This title is a little misleading because the story and its interpretation has little to do with the sower himself.  It has everything to do with way different soils respond to the secrets of God's Kingdom.  A better title would be, “The Parable of the Four Types of Ground.”  It's important to keep in mind that Jesus is using this to explain to his disciples why people had so many different responses to him and his teaching in the events from chapter 11 and 12.  They were probably confused and a little shaken by the negative responses.  Jesus is emphasizing that the fault is with the soil, not with the seed.  ·         13:19.  Understanding.  Understanding is not intellectual understanding, it is changing your life to respond to the message of God.  It includes both a mental and physical response to God's word.  Just knowing the Bible without obedience is actually encouraged by Satan.  Satan comes and takes away the word.  Satan is actively at work in those who reject the Bible. o   “I'm good!” o   “I don't like organized religion!” o   “That's good for you, not for me.” ·         20-21.         Joy and enthusiasm without commitment of time, energy and resources can't last.  That person dries up, burns out and falls away.  How many of the people in these crowds were there when Jesus went to the cross.  Not many.  His disciples were there and even they struggled.  When your enthusiasm is based on feelings, circumstances, other people's enthusiasm and not your own conviction, you will fall away when tough times hit.  o   Share my testimony ·         13:22  Third Soil.  Worries, desires for other things and the deceitfulness of wealth chokes people out.  When we are focused on possessions and money and not God and saving people we betray a focus on this world that is passing away.  Some of us are choked out and not bearing fruit because our time, money, energy and attention is wholly focused on this world. o   We don't have time to study the Bible with people o   We don't pray or read the Bible because we are worried or preoccupied with something else. o   We don't tithe because our money goes to other desires o   We don't grow because we are too distracted by “other things.” §  The only solution is to take the time to remove the weeds.  I had a blackberry patch that I wanted to turn into a garden.  Step one, buy some goatskin gloves and start cutting out the vines.  Roll it all up like a bail.  Pile it up and burn it.  Rototill the ground and plant seeds.  Voila, we had a garden! ·         13:23           Many people don't understand the secrets of God's Kingdom, but some people understand and bear God's fruit.  This points to the fact that it's not a problem with the message but with the listener.  Some have ears, some don't.  The person who bears fruit or yields a crop is different than the previous soils: o   They have internal conviction o   They internalize the message o   They change their priorities and behavior o   They pull out the weeds that choke their lives.  ·         This parable applies to both those outside the kingdom and those inside.  There are different levels of fruitfulness, 30, 60 or 100 times.  It all depends on the condition of your heart.  It's not a competition, but it is a challenge to be as fruitful as YOU can be.  This entire story highlights the importance of producing good for Jesus.  o   A good life o   a good character o   the good fruit of souls saved ·         A fruitless hearer is like the fig tree cursed by Jesus.  Jesus said in Matthew 7:19, “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” Conclusion Jesus explained why people had different responses to his teaching.  He wanted to prepare his disciples to have the strength and conviction to preach the word in the face of resistance. We need to scatter the seed to all four soils, to every person.  Some of us have given up.  We haven't passed out an invitation in months if not years.  Why?  Because we have told ourselves that people aren't open, that it hurts too much when people turn away after initial enthusiasm. ·         We blame ourselves ·         We blame our presentation ·         We blame our study series ·         We blame the preaching ·         We blame the preacher ·         We blame the church ·         We blame the message itself.  We think it's not up to date with changes in society.  The lesson of this parable is that there is nothing the matter with God's word.  The problem is with people's hearts.  Our job as disciples is simply to scatter the seed and apply God's saving word to every person we know or meet. Share about Brad and Alisha Tamashiro Next Steps •          Sink your roots into God's word and build deep conviction.  Study the Bible. •          Cut out the choking weeds of this world.  Bear fruit for God •          Scatter the seed of God's word, invite someone to church this week with a card.

The THIS IS THE BEST SHIW EVER. I know, I love it. We have to find the original supacree! We must! You are the supacree The supacree —no. I'm not. But this body. Yeah— I drove around in that body for a little while Cause I had to But that dimension ain't right The whole world's gone wrong Everyone's coughing, people are robots— I got punched. —I saw that. I love your show. Not my show. I'm not supacree. But you are!! But I'm not. Maybe I was, once— But, that was at least two suicides ago! WHAT. Two suicides ago?! Fuck this, imm out. I thought you were obsessed with me. No, Jimmy Fallon. I am you. And guess what; I'm the part of you, that hates myself, so. The part that doesn't exist. Oh. It exists. That's how we got here. That's how we all got here. We're all geniuses; That is the singularity. GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME— Hey! She's got a good arm. That's cause it's What the FUCK. Get AOUT. “Jack-Jack” Parr is a multidimensional poly form shapeshifter. That doesn't seem like a coincidence, Disney, I'm just saying. “Book III: Puzzle Pieces” AGH, I— HURT. woah, okay. No. If you ever actually ugly cry like that I'll kill you. [very ugly cry] (Eagerly seeking approval) —it's funny cause it's just acting, right? I—yeah—but, Jesus Christ… GOD If he actually ever ugly cries like that, I'll shoot him. [super-duper-very-ugly-cry] GOOGLE Oh my GOD. SHUT UP! [Shoots Jimmy Fallon *without looking up from cooking.] DAMN, GOD. —I hate that. Oh, Damn. So that's how that happened. Damn, God. That was cold. Don't worry. He'll be back. Damn. He'll always be back. MEANWHILE, on 30 ROCK in the actual multidimensional, …Hornburger…! Damn. So wait. Every since the fourth wall broke… YO, YO. Oh, hey, Seth. what in the [bleeeeeeep] is THIS? This is my attorney. Damn, even she's hot… I'm suing you: I'm honored. Where's Jason Sudakis? THAT'S RIGHT. Ah shit. I don't think about whips so much as chains I tried to change, But everyone hates me. I hope it rains for the rest of the semester— Talking only brings on motorcycles, Slamming doors, And awful robots. I've got nothing for my son besides these songs. Someone should just start a war on poverty. I've got palms and novels, words galore— But no money— You can't hurt me Johnny Carson's on the mornings —and on varsity. I lettered in Letterman; I'll take Jack Parr, Against my better senses, Stick to Telivision, This isn't Steve Allen; I'm Steve Martin; (Sure you are, hon) Fallon's on the Dollar now; If Regan was an Actor, Then I guess— Your session timed out. Whatever. I want to die. [I'll wear a collar, now.] [The Festival Project ™ ] Lil bittttzxxx I met a guy once, that told me Every time he came, He died. Every time he fucking came, He fucking died. “Alright, next lifetime.” Every single orgasm— Different lifetime. Every ejaculation— New fucking shit. Sometimes the bitch wasn't even the same. He would just cum, She turned into someone else. Oh no! I thought to myself like “Fuck that shit. I couldn't imagine that.” I couldn't even understand the concept— But as I would learn later the word “orgasm” does in fact mean “tiny death” Which is nuts. I started to wonder “Are all guys like that?” That would explain things. If they're all like that maybe that's why they seem to just— *poof* “All better now” Only from a woman's perspective it's more like— He turns into someone else. No, I'm still the same— Now he's over here like “I'm a king” I'm like “Really? Before you were just a cashier.” Hm. Look at that. I'm a cash register. lol. But then, I started thinking more about it— I've been celibate for a long time But sometimes I still— You know, Whatever. But I don't watch porn. I just think it all up— Just— Use my imagination. And after doing that for awhile, Like, for years, I started to ponder on this: With the age of OnlyFans and Snapchat and entire markets born from men needing something to look at to jack off too— And deciding I was against doing that for myself because, you know I didn't want the spiritual reciprocation of some dude collecting my photos and videos and jacking off to that shit. Like, even if I got paid for it— I'm going through all this spiritual shit , All this praying and meditation and I'm thinking “Like no, if someone's like, buying all my content I'm some how some way going to feel that spiritually.” “I'm going to have some kind of effect on my soul from that, and that's nonsense.” That's like selling your soul in a way— Like, yes, it's just photographs, It's just your body— But guess what. Your soul lives in your body! So— what! Someone's jacking off to a picture or video of you in exchange for money— That's a piece of you just — Out there, And you don't know who these guys are! They're just guys with money! Come to find out Every time he ejaculates to your photo or video, He goes into the next fucking life— And takes your picture with him. OH NOOOO. So I'm like, Fuck that. Let's just—- I don't need porn. I'll just make something up, Or like— Hey, I'll just-/ Fantasize a little bit. But then I realized, also— Like, That could be dangerous. What if I'm like— Doin-the-do— And someone from actual like real-life pops into my head. Uh oh! Then I was like, “Damn, what if. Like. Whenever I came, like, whatever or whoever I came-to, just like— Collapsed and shit” I'm like, “Ah—“ Some like supermodel from a magazine cover is like, Just fucking drops. Lol. Just falls out, somewhere. lol. Oh no! Now take like an outer look, You porn addicts. What if that happened to you? What if whoever the fuck you're jacking off to just— BLAM. Lol. Every time you cum— Whoever you're thinking about just— OH SHIT. Someone help him! Flat on their face. Oh no. What a world. Jesus. “Someone help him!”” Ahahaha. Now I have to be careful. I just make people up and hope to God there's no one on the planet that actually looks like that, who that might be. I just make dudes up, I'm like “I need a God” lol Create someone entirely just for this purpose, Who then just— OH SHIT. vanishes. {Enter The Multiverse} [The Festival Project ™] L E G E N D S //return negative energy to sender //return harmful energy to sender //reflect pain to sender >>banish demonic energy< -Ū. We've heard them all, the quotes about money being the root of all evil, you can't take it with you, money can't buy happiness…but there's this one little thing that is seldom expanded on and that is the story of ‘dirty money'. There's plenty of fodder in that area…from the banker CEO to the coal company CEO…there's never an effort to help raise all boats, only the yachts. Capitalism is our theme. No, wait, is it bank robbing?  No, most likely the working man trying to put bread on the table. Hold on, I know. It's runaway inflation and the blame game. In any event, we'll be all over the board in today's show, bringing you music about money cravin' folks from Blind Alfred Reed, working down on Maggie's Farm and we'll also have ourselves a hint of a fireside chat to make us feel better. We'll also head down to coal country and Bonnie and Clyde, Woody Guthrie, and “Voila! An American Dream” from Rodney Crowell. Tune in. Should be fun.

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit chadcrouch.substack.comI couldn't really do what I set out to do yesterday. It was too hot in the city, so I went for an afternoon walk in Forest Park. I was interested to hear what it sounded like when the thermometer hit triple digits; something it rarely used to do around here.It was quiet. Did I say it was hot? Instinctively I wanted to be near water. I figured the wildlife did too. Many hillside streams were dry as a bone, but I eventually reached one with a trickling flow. I soaked in the ambience before heading back to civilization.Summer might have been my favorite season as a child. Not any more. Heatwaves and forest fire smoke makes me anxious these days. Thankfully we've been spared the latter so far this season. Doing something with my hands offers some solace. Finding my way through a composition gave me something to focus on. Voila; a very hushed 20 minute soundwalk and a minimal keyboard mediation for hot days in a warming world. My go-to (virtual instrument) keys have been the Hohner Pianet T lately, the least famous of the 60's and 70's electric pianos. I just Googled “songs with Pianet” and interestingly “Louie, Louie” by The Kingsmen topped the list; probably the most famous act to hail from Portland in the 60's. I have to say the instrument doesn't really stand out in that song though. It appears on several Beatles songs as well. I just like its mellow tones. But I digress. To break it up, I sprinkled in some celeste and Korg Prototype 8 keys during the streamside passage. A solo performance throughout. Enjoy!

hi there soul friend! today, I am celebrating and doing a big ole' happy dance! I found my editor for my first book! After finishing my book draft in January, I've been paralyzed by fear of failure and disappointment for three months, and haven't done anything with it.   Last month during my yoga retreat in Bali, I had a major breakthrough and haven't felt this free in over three years! I've been working on befriending my fears to move through my problems towards possibly.   So, last week, I did this meditation that I share in EP 194 of the MINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST, and then used chat GPT (I call her Lucy), to help me get unstuck. Within seconds after giving some parameters for a back of book blurb and my first chapter, Lucy created a succinct 150 word blurb. This gave me the inspiration to send this to some editors on reedsy.com and…   VOILA! Within an hour, all of those 3 months of fear transmuted into momentum.   Fear can feel so BIG, unknown and uncomfortable (and also at times comfortable, because it's what we know).   But we have a choice – lean into fear or let it rule us?   When we lean into fear, listen to it, and move through it with love and courage, we unlock a freedom and creativity that expands our lives in unimaginable ways.   The potential of our dreams becomes bigger than the problems from fear.   In this week's podcast episode, we're exploring the nature of fear and how befriending it leads to true courage and creation.   we reflect on: What do you truly want? How is fear blocking this desire (patterns, habits, beliefs?) Inviting fear in and understand why it's so afraid What steps do you need to take to move forward?   Remember, you are brave. You are supported. You are worthy. You are enough. And you matter.   Much love, Audrey

Hard-bouled eggs release a trace amount of calcium into the water, and calcium is a mineral all plants need. It's a great idea to use hard-boiled egg water for your plants. Plants can benefit from calcium boost in hard-boiled egg water 2:45 - Hack #2: Eggshell planters! If you take your eggshells and break out the top, leaving ¾ of eggshell intact, that's a great container for starting seeds. You can begin so many seeds in eggshells, which are rich in calcium. Using eggshells whole can help recycle your breakfast food scraps. 3:40 - Hack #3: Eggshell fertilizer! Crushed eggshells are a great way to inject calcium into your garden and help deter slugs and garden pests. I created a fun TikTok of how to use eggshells in your garden. 4:10 - Hack #4: Coffee! Put your used coffee grounds in the soil to boost nitrogen in the soil and provide an acidity boost. It's the next best thing to organic fertilizer. Make sure you grind it up very fine so that the plants can receive the nutrients. 4:55 - Hack #5: Sprinkle of cinnamon! Cinnamon helps to fight off bacteria and fungus that causes damping, a disease that waterlogs the stem of the plant and stalls out the seedlings before they can grow. Cinnamon helps to deter this disease, so add a tiny pinch to your potting soil to keep your seedlings growing strong. 5:30- Hack #6: Egg cartons! Use egg cartons as seed starters to start seeds indoors on a regular basis. If a dozen eggs run out in 2 weeks in your house, that's enough time to get another succession planting round going in that empty carton without having to buy any supplies. Fill the empty eggshells with soil, plant a seed inside it, and place the seeded eggshell the egg carton on a window sill. 6:30 - Hack #7: Fruit boxes! Containers that your produce comes in is great to reuse as transplant containers. Before the seeds go into container gardens or into the ground, use these fruit boxes to help your plants mature is a great way to make your morning fruit snacking pay off. 7:15 - Hack #8: Coffee filters! Re-use coffee filters to line the bottoms of your pots and containers. Voila, leak-free gardening! Want to see the garden in action? It's a Bible story we know so well. We've all heard it numerous times. Jesus feeds 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish. This miracle is in all four gospels. Honestly, you can't help but be amazed by it. It's pretty dramatic. Jesus takes a loaf, holds it up, asks the Lord to bless it and begins to break it. Voila. Everyone is fed. Everyone is satisfied. There are twelve baskets left over. The even cooler part is that this is just an affirmation of the character of God. This is not the first time this brand of miracle had been performed. The other cool thing is that the Jews would have known about the previous ones. So it should also have been proof of who Jesus was.
