Dr. Rick explains how to break the Catch-22 of disorganized attachment, and how fully embracing and expressing your needs can be the key to finding stability. Leucomethylene Blue Eliminates IBS; Research: Photobiomodulation for Dentin Hypersensitivity & Importance of NIR Light For Penetration Into Teeth

It's been awhile since we've gotten back to our roots on this podcast by reviewing some red light therapy research. By happenstance, both studies are concerning the oral cavity. The first article looks at photobiomodulation's effect on dentin hypersensitivity (one big reason why I wish I had RLT back when I was a kid!). The second study looks at various wavelengths, amongst red and NIR light, to see their impact on penetrating the tooth and, ultimately, having an effect on the dental pulp. Before we talk about the research in today's episode, I do review the newest, updated version of the BioBlue Capsules. While there are no changes relative to the recipe of those supplements, there has been an improvement with how the supplement is produced that drastically alters the color of the capsules and likely improves its delivery to the body.Lastly, I wanted to cover an amazing testimonial that we received about our BioBlue Leuco products and how it completely abolished a customer's IBS symptoms. The interesting part is that they were initially using the supplement in an effort to mitigate and reverse eyesight issues. In the end, they were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the life-changing results they received when their chronic IBS disappeared. While there isn't much research on MB or leucoMB on gut health, it does makes sense that this person saw positive results, as we do have plenty of mitochondrion living in our gut. Mitochondria did evolve from bacteria after all!  If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. #248 Is Being HIGHLY SENSITIVE Linked to High-Risk HPV and Abnormal PAP Smears?

How Humans Heal

Have you wondered if being a highly sensitive person might increase your risk of high-risk HPV and abnormal pap smears? I'm Dr. Doni Wilson, a naturopathic doctor and women's health expert. I help women who test positive for high-risk HPV virus, including women who have abnormal cells on the cervix or in the vagina, to eliminate high-risk HPV so they don't have to continue getting ongoing procedures and potentially develop cancer. Most women find out they're testing positive for high-risk HPV after having a gynecology exam and pap smear. More practitioners are now testing for high-risk HPV at the time of a pap smear. Some women go into shock when they discover they're testing positive, wondering how this happened. Others might have been testing positive for more than five years and feel frustrated that they can't get it to go away. As a women's health expert specializing in high-risk HPV, I've helped thousands of women worldwide over the last 25 years. I've seen the patterns, read the research, and identified a protocol to help women, and that's why I'm so passionate about sharing this information with you. In this episode, Dr Prina Ruparelia, joint clinical director for respiratory medicine at St Bartholomew's and Royal London Hospitals, talks to Dawn Liz Powell about identifying and managing chronic cough in primary care.Dr Ruparelia explains that after ‘worrying conditions', such as lung cancer, have been excluded in patients with chronic cough, a thorough history should be taken to identify any potentially ‘treatable traits'. Treatable traits, she says, are factors (for example, smoking) that might cause a cough. Once identified, these traits can be addressed to help manage the cough. One trait, in particular, discussed in this episode is cough hypersensitivity. Dr Ruparelia explains that this is ‘under-recognised' and probably relates to a dysregulation of the neuronal pathways that control cough — resulting in a cough response to relatively minor irritants, such as perfume or laughing. Send us a textIn this episode of BLA Connections: A Clear Voice, host Natalie Watson speaks with Professors James Hull and Surinder Birring, leading experts in respiratory medicine, to discuss the challenges of diagnosing and treating chronic cough.Chronic cough, affecting 5-10% of the population (primarily women), is a debilitating condition often misdiagnosed and misunderstood. It can significantly impact quality of life with symptoms such as urinary incontinence, throat irritation, and headaches.Professors Hull and Birring explain how chronic cough is now recognised as a neurological condition linked to nerve hypersensitivity, moving away from being seen as just a symptom of asthma, reflux, or nasal disease. Questions explored and answered in this episode cover why chronic cough is frequently misdiagnosed. How is cough hypersensitivity syndrome changing the approach to treatment? and what are the latest advancements in therapies, including new treatments like Gefapixant, that offer hope for managing nerve sensitivity and improving patient outcomes?Top three takeaways:Chronic cough is common and frequently misdiagnosed, leading to a cycle of treatments for conditions like asthma, reflux, or nasal disease, which may not be the root cause.Cough hypersensitivity syndrome reframes chronic cough as a neurological condition, prompting a shift in treatment focus.Promising treatments, such as Gefapixant, aim to address nerve sensitivity, offering new hope for chronic cough sufferers. We hope you enjoy this episode.Contact InformationVisit www.britishlaryngological.org and our podcast library.Join our waitlist for the 2025 conference at the Royal Society of Medicine London here. Joey answers this question: "Is hypersensitivity a type of neurodivergence? Any specific recommendations for highly sensitive people dealing with Tinnitus and other NQR sensations?" Yes, high sensitivity can be considered a divergence from what is typically experienced neurologically. It can be thought of as increased neural loading, more physiological activity that the body needs to work through and digest. Learning to understand your brain, your body and your bodymind is key to harnessing the gift of sensitivity without burning out. -- 3 WAYS TO GET STARTED ON YOUR HEALING JOURNEY:

Why do some of us minimize and reduce the number of choices while others seek excitement and novelty? Why do some of us need everything listed out while others need to just try something blindly? The secret? Different types of ADHD and different ways our ADHD shows up in different environments! David and Isabelle are joined by Bobby and Noah, who also have ADHD, and talk about things like trying to leave the house, deciding what to eat, and why their accommodations all look so different.-----Transitions and choices are hard. Isabelle and David are joined by Isabelle's husband, Bobby, and David's friend and fellow clinician, Noah, both of whom also have ADHD to talk about different types of ADHD. We don't remember all the stuff we have to do to leave the house. Isabelle describes a detailed whiteboard and just how long it took to get into the habit of not forgetting things like lip balm. David puts everything into his bag at night. Isabelle has to do a one-touch rule. Noah's and Bobby's work bag are empty. Bobby's really into minimizing things, which David points out is a wonderful intervention, especially for inattentive type— decision fatigue. Noah does this for going out, always ordering a blackened chicken sandwich. How exhausting it is to make decisions all the time. Noah's experience in a blind restaurant. Bobby's picky eating is connected to something ADHD-related—hypersensitivity around texture. David's experience of this is big after decades of vegetarianism, experiencing the texture of meat for the first time (bacon and hot dogs are great. Other meat for him? Not so much). Isabelle references the Paradox of Choice book (TLDR) and describes the phenomena of randomly remembering facts she's read, but struggling to remember what she read on command. Recognizing that when there is an overabundance of choice, we think we made the wrong one (or are left more disatisfied) because we always think we could've picked better. This relates to Isabelle's reaction to Tinder as something that makes her nauseous thinking about it: too many choices. Same with old school diner menus. Or Cheesecake Factory menus. David agrees. Isabelle describes novelty seeking with food, whereas Bobby wants the same thing. David went to Superdawg and got everything on the menu he wanted because he couldn't make a decision. Noah would go there, deliberate what to get for 20 minutes, and leave with nothing. Why do we all sound so different and yet similar? We're talking about the distinctions between inattentive and impulsive ADHD types. What about combined type? Depends on the mastery of the environment: the more mastery, the more impulsive we can be, the less mastery, the more inattentive. What is Superdawg? If you're in and around Chicago, you're welcome to check it out. If you're not, it's still a fun place to look into.  From the bottom of our pure beefy hearts. Paradox of Choice - book by Barry Schwartz (TLDR for Isabelle but an interesting summary appears on wikipedia). DEFINITIONSADHD types explained through how we order at a restaurant:inattentive type: struggles to figure out what to order, stares at menu (accommodations: always orders the same thing or same type of thing, asking the server for their choice/having the chef or someone else choose for you)impulsive type: orders three different entrees (to try them all), or the novel/strange seeming thing on the menu (accommodations: finding new places to eat or food bars where you can throw on whatever you want in that moment)combination type: see above and experience BOTH, often depending on your level of mastery/comfort (more mastery in the environment, the more your impulsivity shows up). Decision fatigue: the more decisions we make, the more our quality of decisions (or ability to do so well) deteriorates. Too many decisions can lead to an overwhelming feeling, burnout and poor decisions. Avoiding the complexity of decisions, can be an adaptive tool for individuals to preserve brain power for more important decisions, especially when the inattentive-type ADHD experience is loud. Here's an article on how to notice when it's happening to you.Hypersensitivity around texture: some textures are going to make people feel more yucky inside than you would think they could. Often times it can be really helpful to honor these sensitivities, and not try to push through them unless there's serious impact on food and nutrition. Here's a quick article on how to cope with hypersensitivities to sound, texture, taste, smell, etc. -----Cover Art by: Sol VázquezTechnical Support by: Bobby Richards

Common antigens include molds, bacteria, bird droppings, bird feathers, agricultural dusts, bioaerosols and chemicals from paints or plastics. People affected by this type of lung inflammation (pneumonitis) are commonly exposed to the antigens by their occupations, hobbies, the environment and animals. The inhaled antigens produce a hypersensitivity immune reaction causing inflammation of the airspaces (alveoli) and small airways (bronchioles) within the lung. From subtle tail twitches to silent yowls, cats have mastered the art of hiding their discomfort, leaving us humans scratching our heads feeling somewhat purr-plexed when it comes to decoding the mysteries of recognizing and managing pain in this stoic species. In this episode, we are going to sink our claws into feline osteoarthritis pain management by discussing the newest drug to hit the market designed to diminish feline osteoarthritic pain: Solensia. Solensia (frunevetmab) is a monthly injection administered at a veterinary clinic that can help control pain from osteoarthritis in cats. Our guide to understand this new and revolutionary medication is Dr. Kristin Kirby-Shaw, a board-certified veterinary surgeon and animal rehabilitation specialist who currently serves as a Pain and Osteoarthritis Specialist at Zoetis. Together with host Dr. Bonnie Gatson, they will discuss tools that can help veterinarians and pet owners recognize osteoarthritis pain in cats, summarize how Solensia provides pain control in this population of cats, and review important clinical trial and safety information to ensure we are using this innovative drug efficaciously to its full potential in our feline companions. Listen now to learn how Solensia helps our cats feel-ine good! We want to inform our listeners about important safety information regarding Solensia (frunevetmab). Solensia is for use in cats only. Women who are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding should take extreme care to avoid self-injection. Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, could occur with self-injection. Solensia should not be used in breastfeeding cats, or in pregnant or lactating queens. Solensia should not be used in cats with a known hypersensitivity to frunevetmab. The most common adverse events reported in a clinical study were vomiting and injection site pain. Review important safety information and prescribing information on the Zoetis website. Welcome to a new episode of the Pain Matters Podcast, where we dive into the intricate world of pain science with leading expert Professor Lorimer Moseley to explore the concept of pain system hypersensitivity. In our journey through the realms of pain, we encounter terminology that seeks to capture the essence of patients' experiences. One such term, "pain system hypersensitivity," emerges from a meticulous study where patients themselves were asked to articulate their ongoing pain states. In this episode, we unravel the significance of this term, delving into its connections with primary and secondary hyperalgesia, as well as allodynia. The introduction of "pain system hypersensitivity" stems from a profound understanding of patients' perspectives and preferences. As we navigate through this discussion, we will explore how this term reflects the lived experiences of individuals grappling with persistent pain. Interestingly, alternatives like "nociplastic pain" and "oversensitivity" were considered but did not resonate with the patients. Our exploration today aims to shed light on the intricacies of pain system hypersensitivity, offering insights that could reshape our understanding of chronic pain and guide us towards more empathetic and effective approaches to pain management. So, join us on this enlightening journey with Professor Lorimer Moseley as we delve into the nuanced world of pain system hypersensitivity on the Pain Matters Podcast.

We can read that 5G is dangerous and can be used as a weapon! Is it true? The phenomenon of electrical hypersensitivity is it just hypersensitivity or can it be proven in studies?   To solve our questions about 5G and radiation from wireless devices. We have invited a scientist that has been doing experiments in this field since the 1980`s.                                                        Professor Olle Johansson is a world-leading  authority in the field of EMF radiation and health effects. He has published more than 800 original articles, reviews, book chapters and conference reports within the fields of basic and applied neuroscience, dermatoscience, epidemiology, and biophysiology.   Among many  achievements he coined the term ”screen dermatitis” which later on was  developed into the functional impairment electrohypersensitivity which  recognition mainly is due to his work. He has also been a guest  professor as well as adjunct professor in basic and clinical  neuroscience at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.           In 2011, Prof. Olle Johansson, was instrumental in producing the Seletun Scientific Statement, a consensus agreement among international scientists on the need to reduce EMF (electromagnetic field) exposures to the population. The paper was published in the journal, Reviews on Environmental Health. The Seletun Scientific Panel's recommendations are extremely important given the unchecked proliferation of wireless radiation over the past decade, such as from cell towers, wireless networks, wireless routers, and cell phones, as well as because of the plans by many ignorant governments to blanket neighborhoods in new, radiation-emitting utility 'smart' meters.   Olle Johansson is – or has been – a member of, i.a., The European Neuroscience Association (ENA), The European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR), IBAS Users of Scandinavia (IBUS), The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), The International Society for Stereology (ISS), The New York Academy of Sciences, The Royal Microscopical Society (RMS), Scandinavian Society for Electron Microscopy (SCANDEM), The Skin Pharmacology Society (SPS), Society for Neuroscience, Svenska Fysiologföreningen, Svenska Intressegruppen för Grafisk Databehandling (SIGRAD), Svenska Läkaresällskapet, and the Svenska Sällskapet för Automatiserad Bildanalys (SSAB).   He has received a number of awards, including the Nokia Consumer Electronics Award, The Grand Environment Award of the Cancer and Allergy Foundation, the SIF Award, Tandvårdsskadeförbundets Pris, and many more. In 2016, Johansson was one of the authors of a report that concluded the health risks of mobile radiation and wireless networks, but this was retracted shortly after because research fraud was pointed out? The reason for this you will hear Olle answer in this episode.   We talk about: Being a guest on the James Delingpole podcast The mobile and insurance industry are exempt from radiation liability since 1990`s Clinical trials done to prove electrical hypersensitivity What is 5G and are there any good studies to prove harm? Why are there so many insects dying? What happens when bacteria are exposed to wireless radiation What can we do? And lots more! If you want to help Olle financing new studies? EP11 - Clinical Experiences, Education Efforts & Upcoming Research Studies w/Dr. Dzifa Dordunoo, PhD., RN Dr. Dzifa Dordunoo is an Associate Professor at the University of Victoria School of Nursing in B.C., Canada. With over 20 years of clinical experience in general medicine and coronary care units, spending the past decade as a nurse educator, after beginning her teaching career in 2011 as a clinical instructor at John Hopkins School of Nursing. She is the director of the University of Victoria Center for Evidence-Informed Nursing and Healthcare, A JBI Center of Excellence. Dzifa shares experience and research studies in the realm of metal hypersensitivity, which began during the time of her doctoral studies with one of her cardiac care patients, when she became aware of, and investigated the patient's metal allergy as a possible cause for patient's complications. Dzifa then goes on to share her story of walking her son through a metal-allergy diagnosis to dental hardware and expresses the frustration of not being heard and taken seriously as a professional in the field, even once the situation was brought to full resolution of symptoms after the removal of the offending hardware.  After these experiences Dzifa started polling colleagues about their metal hypersensitivity knowledge, as well as sharing publications with them, quickly realizing that her curiosity and scientific musings were not met with equal excitement in the realm of her peers….with some even thinking she was a little “out there.”. Even wondering why something as simple as pre-screening patients for metal allergies was so difficult. Many didn't believe in the science or current evidence, while others stated that screening was futile. Dzifa goes on to share her opinions on informed consent.  Dr. Dordunoo shares about her clinical studies, past and present, including several recently published papers, along with info about clinical trials now underway. One of her future goals is to create an implantable device registry. She also shares her thoughts on  Metal Hypersensitivity as a future medical sub-specialty.  In this episode you will learn: How knowledge of metal-hypersensitivity within the medical field is often misunderstood and under-reported.  That even providers within the field have difficulties convincing peers that metal hypersensitivity is real and a pervasive issue for many in the worldwide population.  About upcoming clinical advancements and trials, as well as proposed enhancements to medical device reporting.  ~Links and Resources~ Articles: Patient Journey Map: Metal hypersensitivity Hypersensitivityhttps://journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10.1177/23743735231183576 Hypersensitivity in patients receiving metal implants: a scoping review protocol  https://journals.lww.com/jbisrir/Fulltext/2021/06000/Hypersensitivity_in_patients_receiving_metal.12.aspx Metal hypersensitivity screening among frontline healthcare workers—A descriptive study https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jocn.15571 Youtube: Hypersensitivity reactions to metal implants https://youtu.be/NGOfWOuMHYw Consenting patients about metal hypersensitivity https://youtu.be/ItdSr7gV_oU~To learn more visit HeavilyMetalled.com. ~ Check out the “Heavily Metalled” resource page: https://www.heavilymetalled.com/p/patient-resources/ ~ Follow Heavily Metalled on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HeavilyMetalled ~ Follow Heavily Metalled on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heavilymetalled/ ~ Subscribe to Heavily Metalled on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@HeavilyMetalled ~ Check out our sponsor MELISA.org ***Many WONDERFUL, supportive special-interest communities exist for metal allergies and diet, hardware issues, medical devices, etc., online and on social media. Do you constantly struggle with feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you forget things, lack concentration or focus, or even find yourself distracted with daydreams & desires that you just can't seem to DO anything about? Today I share with you my personal experience with ADHD & the self-awareness it gave me being diagnosed as an adult. While it may seem unrelated & yet I never seemed to put the pieces together that my battle with an eating disorder could in fact have a direct correlation to ADHD, researches have discovered a link between the two mental health illnesses. In fact, statistics show that those with ADHD are at risk for developing an eating disorder 3 to 6 times higher than the average of someone without ADHD. But what is the link between the two mental conditions? According to Community Health Network, "A study showed that images of food stimulated the brain's reward center at a higher level in people with ADHD than people in the same study who do not have been diagnosed with ADHD. In addition, the researchers discovered that this brain response could be why having ADHD increases the risk of developing an eating disorder.  ADHD is often associated with irregularities in how the brain interprets signals and cues from the rest of the body. For instance, signals about hunger become distorted in those with ADHD. This can make it challenging to know when to stop eating or the opposite. Many people with ADHD are extremely sensitive; this sensitivity is called hypersensitivity. Hypersensitivity is characterized as being extremely sensitive to the physical senses such as smell, taste, touch, or even the surrounding environment.  As a result, A hypersensitive person with ADHD could have more difficulty eating certain foods than someone who does not have ADHD. This can lead to food restriction behaviors & binge purge episodes." If you struggle with symptoms of ADHD, or you have been diagnosed, I truly feel today's show with bless you. In this episode, we chat with Ben Ahrens, the founder of Re-Origin, about his inspiring journey to recover from Chronic Neurological Lyme Disease using neuroplasticity. At the age of 25, Ben found himself bedridden for over 3 years, despite conventional medical treatment. It was then that he discovered neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to reorganize itself and form new neural connections. Ben attended an online class in neuroanatomy at UC Berkeley and learned about the incredible results that applied neuroscience or "neuroplasticity training" had achieved with chronic pain, physical rehab, and even immune-related conditions. He realized that the brain is the "chief orchestrator" of all mental, physical, and emotional processes and decided to heal himself with this approach. Over the years, Ben consulted with top neuroscientists and doctors from around the world, eventually developing a program and process called The Brain Trust™ that could replicate his success at scale for a wide range of debilitating conditions. This program serves as the cornerstone of Re-Origin. Through the power of neuroplasticity, Ben healed himself from Lyme, CFS, and Hypersensitivity disorder. He joined forces with Innovative Medicine, earning advanced certifications in biological medicine and becoming an AADP Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner in the state of New York. Together, they work on untangling some of the world's most complex chronic conditions. If you're interested in learning more about how the power of neuroplasticity could provide hope for a new path to recovery, tune in now!

Struggling with your interoception is an everyday occurrence for people with ADHD. How can you strengthen your awareness and tune into your body's cues so that you feel more sturdy, stable, and present throughout your day?  Today's guests and friends, Elizabeth Brink and Anna Lopez share how you can begin to listen to your body and feel connected to your brain, body, and feelings.  Anna Lopez is a neurodivergent, single, mom of two boys living in Austin, TX. She's a psychotherapist, psychiatric PA, and neurodivergent coach, who loves helping people learn about their brain and lift the shame of the way it shapes how they show up in the world.   Elizabeth Brink is a trauma-informed, body-based coach for neurodivergent people. Elizabeth believes the wisdom of the body offers a unique shortcut to fully embracing the self, which is critical for lasting change.
