This is the year we decided to put our house, yes our house, on Airbnb and have an adventure filled year with our toddler. It started as a desire to get away more on the weekends and quickly turned into a little side hustle that is helping us pay for nicer trips away, car payments, you name it. We get into how this started and quickly escalated into our house being booked out every weekend, becoming a profitable side hustle. We went from booking cheaper airbnbs to just buying our own caravan for weekends of adventure while other people enjoyed our countryside home. Did our house get totally trashed? We dive into exactly how it's gone so far when people have stayed at our place, we've had over 20 bookings at this point and spoiler alert, it hasn't been trashed yet. We also talk about details like cleaning and logistics of how we actually turned our personal home into a holiday rental, becoming a space people could stay in and what we do with all of our stuff. Today we talk through the Hero's Journey following four stages and how this can be applied to our life, past and present. We like this framework as it helps us put challenging times into the context of the big picture, and also see when we're stuck or trying to push a gut feeling down with numbing behaviour. We discuss the narrative self, doing things for the story, like the story of what we want our life to look like in our 30s and how it's linked to the hero's journey. In this episode we talk about how we strive for balance and manage all our competing priorities; parenting, full-time jobs, wellness and everything in between.
