Everything on the Internet is true, right? What can Tik Tok (and social media) teach us about getting out of debt? How much of the advice is legitimate and how much is, shall we say, a bit "out there"? On this week's episode of the Crushing Debt Podccast, Shawn & George watch (or listen to) Tik Tok videos from influencers who are trying to help people get out of debt. We'll then comment on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the advice given. As with any social media platform, you have to do your own due diligence and utilize strategies that will work for you. Rory Sutherland is back and he's as hilariously unconventional as ever. I genuinely think this might be the best we've ever gotten him. As the Vice Chairman of Ogilvy UK and a pioneer in behavioral science, Rory has spent decades unraveling the quirks of human behavior and the illogical decisions that drive us.In this episode, we dive into everything from the economics of nicotine to the psychology behind airport lounges, and even the unexpected lessons gleaned from serial killer investigations. This week the girls catch up and Leslie gets to hear all about Rochelle's great painting adventure in Texas! But first, an update on her mom, Pat who just had a scary injury. Rochelle's Texas trip involved not quilting, but PAINTING a chair and a teapot. It was her first adventure off doing something where she didn't know anyone and they didn't know her. So, this was a great experience for her, but exhausting! It was an Alice in Wonderland theme party and there were costumes involved. She is also heading to Nebraska soon to visit our other friends and have some quilty time with them. She will head back Tuesday though in order to be here for our friend, Melissa's husband Steve's funeral service. He was a dear friend to our local quilting community and a true hard-working supporter of his wife and best friend. He will be truly missed by many. This episode is dedicated to the memory of Steve Struttmann and the honor of our friend, Melissa Struttmann. To help Melissa during this time of grief, please consider buying a pattern on her website osagehillsretreat.com. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We're back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships. Before getting to our callers, we discuss disenfranchised men and whether or not there's a divide between young men and women in modern dating? We then get to our callers. Our first caller is wondering whether a lot of little things add up to a non-negotiable, or is that Girl Math, because she's considering ending her marriage. She's not sure whether her grievances with her husband are pet-peeves or a deeper underlying issue in their relationship, and wants to know if it's a marriage worth fighting for. Our second caller wants to get back together with the love of her life, but he's currently dating the girl her ex cheated on her with. They broke up because of infidelity on her part, but she feels she's worked on herself and is ready to start fresh with him. However, is it too late? Our final caller is wondering whether she should shoot her shot with a guy who has a boyfriend. She initially met him at a time when she was in a relationship, but remembers having instant chemistry with him. She's now single, and wondering if she should reconnect with him, despite his relationship status. “You can't base the rest of your life on someone's potential.” Start your 7 Day Free Trial of Viall Files + here: https://viallfiles.supportingcast.fm/ Please make sure to subscribe so you don't miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.
