Listeners of Haunted Happenstance that love the show mention: ghosts in the burbs,It's been a while, but that doesn't mean nothing has been happening, time to start back up, where it all began!
We're back in the woods, it's muddy, it's messy, it's just how the story progresses....
Time to get back up north, and into the story. This episode we'll be getting a glimpse of what's happening, and what's happened, in others' words.
Before we jump back into the storyline, I figured I'd get us caught up with who we know and what's happened - all with a few new voices!
In the strange days that blur between Christmas and New Years, several of the Residents at the Lofts have found themselves stuck in a strange place as well.
It's Halloween time at Birchwood Ridge, and the residents of the community have a few seasonal issues hanging over them. But don't we all?
The podcast turns 3 today! To celebrate, we've got a bonus episode chronicling three ghostly encounters at the cabin!
It's Episode 13, and just like in Season 1, this one has a bit of a different perspective. Enjoy a look at the Lofts and the Ridge through a lower set of eyes.
In observance of Independence Day, we're going to visit some of my favorite haunts of Philadelphia - including many of those from the founding souls of our the country!
We're back in the woods at the Ridge, and we're picking back up a story from last fall, one that was ended abruptly thanks to a zoom glitch, or was it? ;)
As spring spills into summer, we head back to Birchwood Ridge and catch up with Max, Nyles, Adelaide and Jennifer as they navigate some new paths, and reconcile some old pasts.
This bonus episode is short, sweet, and very much needed.
Season Two is officially back after a hiatus - it's just about spring at the Lofts and at the Ridge, and it's time to check in with what's happening in light of the time away. Ready to go back?
A little tease to get us back into the Season Two - after far too long, Jennifer returns to the cabin to get it ready for an upcoming storm.
One last tale to revisit our characters from Season 1, and this time, to tie up one family's unfinished story.
Is it even a holiday without some sort of household maintenance issue? Not if your job is keeping the Lofts in running order!
We're not all natural believers, but sometimes even skeptics might take the leap of faith when it comes to the afterlife. In this episode, we'll hear things in a whole new voice when it comes to ghosts.
This ninth day we'll reconnect with a family, and their missing friendly ghost, or is it?
This winter solstice a few of our favorites are doing their best to bring in a new season of light and hope, all too ready to usher out the darkness.
On this seventh day, we meet our seventh ghost, and spend time with two ladies who never had the chance to take center stage, but are ready for their spotlight now!
With six days until Christmas, we get to spend a movie marathon afternoon with Claudia and Tidbit -- and it's an obscene amount of fun.....until it isn't. Special thanks to one of our patrons for lending their cinematic vocal talents for a clip in this bonus!
This fifth ghost and day of Christmas, we get to check in with three of our favorite folks from the fifth floor!
He's back! No, not Charlie, although he is too, but Roho! Our favorite calling bird, and he's got a lot to say, and see, this Hanukkah!
On this third day, with third ghost, we spend more time at the Lofts with a married couple just trying to keep some old family traditions alive.
For the second day, and ghost, of Christmas, we're heading to the first floor of the Lofts to share in the experience of one family's very first, and enlightening, Christmas Tree!
This holiday season we want to keep everyone in the spirit, by keeping alive the tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas, and revisiting some of our favorite characters from season one! On the first day, we have a Partridge and Charity, featuring Mallory!
In this episode we split our time between the Lofts and the Ridge, but some things are overlapping the locations - and nothing is exactly as it appears, at least at first.
Halloween is over, but the spooky times have only just started. In this episode, an entire community comes together to try and find a lost dog at the Ridge, while the trees have been keeping secrets.
As with all things in 2020, even Halloween has been made a bit different, a bit more strange, but scary, all the same, whether you're at the Lofts of the Ridge.
It's almost Halloween, and that means it's almost time for some Halloween festivities - both at the Lofts and at the Ridge, who is ready to be invited to a little fun, and a lot of spooks?
We spend some time in a dark place with Jennifer, at the lofts, before returning back to the Ridge. And regardless of where people are, it seems like everyone is nearing their breaking point.
In this second part of our special 2-year anniversary bonus, we cover some more recent paranormal experiences for Jennifer (and John) - and even have a true crime tie-in. *Disclaimer* this episode contains more graphic content than our typical story, as some details surrounding a murder are included. Skip out after Jennifer's first story if you'd like to avoid that content. We are celebrating two years of the show this week, and it couldn't have happened without all of you! As part of our thanks, there will be a two-part Bonus Episode, and here is the first! Figured some of you might be curious about the first ghost, the one that started it all! Ready?
In this return to the cabin we will meet the Freeling family, as well as get to catch up with so many other Neighbors new and old, at the Ridge, and at the Lofts.
Before we launch back into the regular season episodes fully, Jennifer catches us all up with what's been happening at the Lofts and at the Ridge, including a few new details, and even a spooky sneak peak into what comes next. But first, where were we?
Quarantine has lasted somehow longer than 2020 itself, and it might be high time to get back to the cabin, back to "real life" or whatever that is nowadays. Are you ready?
This short story was also based on a suggestion from a Neighbor and Patron! We'll take a ride with a health care professional as she starts her long day working through the pandemic -- and as if that wasn't a scary enough, she'll have even more tagging along.
This short story was chosen by the Neighbors in the podcast Facebook discussion group....and I swore I'd never go /there/ :) In this little tale, we'll spend some time trying to figure out just what is going on with all the missing people at the lake.
In this little story, we find out from Lyric if there is anything more relaxing than a wonderful, and perfect bath. Turns out, yes, yes there is.
What happens when you've been forced to stay home, but home has grown to be the last place you'd like to stay? You take as much time as you can before going back...
So many are trying to do what they can to help out during this pandemic, and some have found distraction and production in pulling out their dusty sewing machines and making masks. In this shorter tale, two roommates do what they can to help, and just stay safe, and alive during self-isolation.
This next short little spook takes place in a neighborhood Jennifer knows well -- but we'll hear about it from Trish, and her townhouse neighbor Connor. Special thanks to listener Jules Anne for providing the name of a character in this Quaran-teeny! She also wins an e-copy of the Anthology "Asylum" of which listener Marie Sterling is a contributing writer.
People are stuck home, they're watching a lot of tv, they're getting a lot of grandiose ideas about their prospective talents...you know how this often goes terribly awry...
Our second "Quaran-teeny" touches on one of all of our biggest nightmares right now --- running out of toilet paper! Join Jack as he does a little at-home amateur ghost-hunting to catch the spirit who he believes is stealing his precious commode-ity!
As announced, we will be releasing an anthology of short spooky tales while the quarantine continues. When folks are ready and life is less topsy-turvy, we'll return to the regular storyline episodes. Our first "Quaran-teeny" was based on requests from a special listener, Neighbor and Patron, Jennifer S. She was looking for a spooky tale about gardening, spring time and spending time with her flowers. We also incorporated a few names that are favorites of hers. Enjoy!
With things more than unsettled in the city, we'll spend this episode watching the woods. Round back with Max and Theo, meet new neighbor Nyles, and share a chilling afternoon with Adelaide, all at the Ridge in this fourth episode.
It's April 1st, and it seems that ghosts keep track of the date, even when the calendar means nothing to the living anymore.
Times are complicated, and everyone at the Lofts is just doing their best to get through it all, together.
Things have grown a bit dark at both the Lofts and the Ridge in this episode, but we'll meet a new neighbor, Evie, and hear her story. We'll also check back in with Jennifer, John, Dani and Benjamin too - plus get an update on the renovations at the cabin.
Since some expressed a bit of concern for Alabaster and his well-being after Episode 2, I thought it was a fine time to let his voice be heard. Sit back for a different kind of ghost story from days before the Lofts! Alabaster is voiced by the crazy-talented CK of Mirths & Monsters. In this second episode of Season Two, we'll split our time between the Lofts and the Ridge, where things get a bit chilly. We will also get to meet Theo and Max, as well as Josef and Whisper.
