SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE, the 2nd beautifully bizarre edition of “the Sunday funny papers of metal”, brought to you by El Sobrante, California's genius weirdo trio, PRIMUS, is the gold standard of the eccentric sound of “boxless” progressive, funk metal overtones filtered through a heroic dose of psychedelic infused absurdity and combined with an ample sized bowl of surreal silliness.   With drum beats that are right, smack dab ”in the pocket”, bass lines that defy the laws of music and reality, orchestrated, atonal, guitar noise that's always a tad off, and lyrics covering a vast array of peculiar and unusual topics, ranging from promiscuous cats to reckless race car drivers to weird time signatures to sheer luck, SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE is one of those recordings that every metal head with a well-defined sillier side (and a “sophisticated palette”) must possess.     Grab a handful of relaxation and enjoy “a positive Applebee's experience” while also noting that this is our 2nd PRIMUS episode featuring a story about Applebee's (seriously, what are the odds of that happening almost 3 years later!?). Discover the reason McDonald's is diabolical and why it's exactly like something else that's “not even the same ballpark”, understand that it's perfectly okay to have “different tastes” with regard to entertainment shown “in slow motion”, and brace yourself for a first time Steve Harvey impression that morphed into a Katt Williams impression that was followed by an even better, more impressive Katt Williams impression when you JOIN US as we gear up to go snorkeling through the caverns of queso while SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182   Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, or wherever you get your Podcasts. The Grace Filled Leader-Work Life Balance, Productivity, Time Management, Emotional Intelligence, People Pleasing, Overwhelm

Hey, Friend! Have you ever heard people say “God told  me", or "God said", or "I feel God telling me to (fill in the blank)”? Have you found yourself thinking, "Geesh…. I wish God would talk to me a bit more clearly!"   I certainly have found myself thinking that.  Sometimes I think God needs to literally send me a neon blinking sign for me to be certain He is trying to tell me something.  Recently, however, I am learning a bit more about how to better seek and discern God's voice when facing certain decisions and circumstances. In case you aren't sure, God does want you to seek Him, depend on Him and be able to discern His will for all parts of your life.   Learning to discern God's voice, however, takes some practice.   It's not as difficult as we might think, and there are ways to determine whether what we are being led to is truly of God.  Rick Warren describes 7 ways to test an impression or discern God's voice. Today we discuss those as well as some other tidbits about how to discern and decipher God's voice in our lives and leadership. I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to. Over the last 30 years childhood obesity has more than tripled in the United States and now over 12.7 million children are obese. The annual health care cost of childhood obesity is over 14 billion dollars per year and climbing! These overweight children can expect to live 14 years less than children of normal weight. If this problem continues to grow over the next decade, the average life expectancy in the U.S. will decrease by 5 years. We are going to continue to focus on our kiddos today in this episode. So last episode we talked about nutrient deficiencies in our children that are linked to ADHD. Today we are talking about obesity. Why are our kids obese? And what can we do about it?This is Actually a pretty hot topic right now so I wanted to weigh in with my two cents. The Worst Movies of 2022

Life Through the Big Screen

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 21, 2022 25:40

With 2022 behind us, I'm sure you've experienced some ups and downs like I have, but nothing was more bumpy and unpredictable than the movies we got this year. This is going to be a two-part podcast, where part 1 will be on the top worst movies of 2022 and the second part will be a bit more optimistic being about the best movies of the year. Now there's a film critic who I often like named Chris Stuckman, you've probably heard of him, but he has a philosophy of not sharing his worst movies of the year because he believes that the filmmakers worked hard on their projects and he doesn't want to pass off bad judgment. I respect him for that, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I think filmmakers need to be held accountable for the material they present to the world. Many of them get paid more than most of us, and we're not only entrusting them with our hard-earned money, but two, or two and a half hours of our valuable time. And if a movie robs me of either of those, I want to warn those in my circle - you guys - to stay the hell away. Now, please bear in mind that these two lists are purely subjective. I'm not trying to start a fight, although if you want to come on the show and debate me on any of these choices, I invite you to bring your A-game and I'll spar with you, but we have to agree to end it amicably, even if we can't agree on the film. Deal? So that brings me to number 10 on my top worst movies of 2022.  But before I start, know that what I did was simply make a list of the 25 movies that were released this year and I ranked them from best to worst. Then I meticulously drew a line separating the ones I'd watch again, and the ones I really don't care to. With that in mind, the first four I'm about to mention, I'd be willing to give them another chance if the mood presented itself, but overall, I was disappointed after my first viewing. So the the number 10 worst movie of 2022 is The Batman. Like a few other movies on my list, I really struggled with this one, because there's the whole movie that I actually enjoyed quite a bit, but then the ending just really ruined it for me. Spoilers if you haven't seen it, but I just feel like Batman just turned into this Disney character at the end where he was grappling with dumb morality issues that he should have figured out when he was twelve. I understand that in today's violent and angry culture it's good to see a superhero lay down his arms and focus on defending the weak instead of fighting the baddies - hell, that's what I teach my kids. But I go to the movies to watch the baddies get beat up and their heads blown off. As a moviegoer that brings me joy and it's fun to watch. Because I'm mature enough to know that it's fake, and in any real life situation, we need to avoid violence at all costs. I loved Collin Ferrell as The Penguin, I thought Robert Pattinson was a more than passable Batman, but a little weird and spooky to be Bruce Wayne. Jeffrey Wright was an impressive Lt. Gordon. Paul Dano nailed it as The Riddler. And I was even impressed with Andy Serkis's take on Alfred. However, no casting lineup can possibly outdo Christopher Nolan's Batman characters -- particularly Michael Caine's Alfred, which will never ever be matched. Like I said, I'd be more than willing to give this movie another try, especially since I'll be able to brace myself for the ending, and perhaps ease into it with a little more acceptance. Number 9 is Elvis. This was a fun movie, filmed in a very loud and obnoxious way. I'm not familiar with any of Bad Luhrmann's work outside of this one, but I just didn't feel like the style necessarily fit the story being told. That's just my opinion, and I'm willing to say I'm wrong about that. Can you tell it takes me a while to adjust to anything new? I thought Austin Butler was astounding as Elvis. I of course loved the music, and it was fun to finally have a film that gave us a peak into his life. It was a bit jarring to see Tom Hanks be in the antagonist role, but at least he wasn't just being Tom Hanks again. I feel like from 2019 and to now we're stuck on the Polar Express where it's just Tom Hanks everywhere we look. Number 8 out of the gate is Scream 2022. Not really called that, but if you're going to give your movie the same title as its originator, then I'm going to attach the release year to it. On any other day, I would actually put this as number 10, or at least the bottom of my Best Of list. My problem with this horror flick is quite obvious - it just didn't come close to capturing the magic of the 1996 original. That '96 film is so special and funny and original, that of course none of its sequels ever had a chance. But I want to be clear, this is easily the best of the Scream sequels, and the more I talk about it, the more I want to rewatch it, because honestly, I watched it so long ago that I don't remember a thing about it. I do remember that Courtney Cox's facelift made me keep mistaking her for Ghostface. A word to anyone who's aging: Don't get plastic on your face. It makes you look like a secondhand Barbie doll trying to come to life. Number 7. This one's bound to give some people hot flashes, and the controversy is welcome. But Thor: Love and Thunder underwhelmed the absolute shit out of me. Thor: Ragnarok and the Infinity War movies set the precedent for Thor going forward. But the entire movie just wasn't funny. And it's not like I went into it with crossed arms, making the movie prove itself to me. My arms were wide open and I was welcome to whatever good humor was to deliver me, but it failed miserably. Not only was it not funny, but I felt like there was not much of consequence for most of the film, like I had to slug through the first 3/4 to get to the meat of the movie. And I'll be honest, I enjoyed the ending. I'm anxious to see Thor interact as a bumbling father in the next film. I was impressed that (spoiler) Marvel had the balls to kill Jane Foster, and it looks like it's a permanent death. And Christian Bale - do I even need to echo literally every other person who saw the movie? - he crushed it so hard as an incredible foe who's nearly as great as Thanos. It was a shame that he died, because I'd love to see him again, or maybe we'll get a prequel or a Marvel miniseries? But yeah, this one hurt me deeply because I was so looking forward to it. My only hope is that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 doesn't pull this same bait and switch nonsenses. Now we're getting to the portion of the list where I just don't ever want to revisit the following movies because of how trashy and dull they were. Number 6 is Disney's Pinocchio 2022. There I go again adding the year of release. This weirdo film is not to be mistaken by the 1940's Pinocchio, one of the greatest technical and cinematic achievements in the history of film. Can you tell I have quite a love for that movie? Pinocchio 2022 basically copied the original shot-by-shot, Lion King style, but not nearly as pretty, and it made changes that weakened the story altogether. For instance, in this version, Pinocchio actually goes to school, but he then gets kicked out because he's different. What kind of message does that send kids? That if you get made fun of, you're allowed to just go off and get into trouble? Or what's with Pinocchio having to lie again to get out of the trouble he caused himself by lying? The whole point of the scene where he's in the birdcage is for him to ask and receive forgiveness by the Blue Fairy. It's character growth, because it shows that he's starting to feel remorse for his wrongdoings. And don't get me started on the whole subplot they shoehorned in with the girl and her puppet. Every time that happened I went half asleep. And it's funny too, that this CGI Pinocchio had only a quarter of the personality and charm the original Pinocchio had. Now I will say that the voice of Pinocchio was really impressive, and Joseph Gordon Levitt absolutely crushed it as Jimney. And I did really like the Easter eggs with the wooden clocks. Tom Hanks was fine, I guess, but I would have preferred to see a newer actor in that role. Like, Geesh, Tom, there are other actors hungrier that you - give them a chance. Number 5 is the Ethan Hawk movie Black Phone. I went into this like I do for almost every other movie I watch, which is completely blind. I refuse to watch trailers if I can help it. But if it's just a teaser or It's far enough out that I'll forget, then those are the only times I'll treat myself. But I went into this stone-cold blind. And honestly, it was very forgettable. It was a run-of-the mill indie horror film that really didn't shock or awe me in any way. I only watched it two or three months ago and I can only tell you it's about a boy who gets kidnapped and he's being held captive in a guy's basement. I remember snippets of the end, but that's it. So that's the problem with doing these best and worst of podcasts I guess: Maybe I need to start taking notes on every new movie I watch so I can remember what the hell I watched several months ago. I have such a bad memory as is, so it might be worth doing. The Bob's Burgers Movie is number 4. This one is kind of a cheat, because it was late at night and my wife was asleep, so I had to keep the volume down super low, and I didn't have my glasses at the time because they were broken, so I couldn't see the subtitle very well. I went into this movie never having seen an episode of Bob's Burgers, but I figured it was like the Simpsons. The jokes that I did see or hear were pretty funny, the song was catchy, but when it got into the whole murder mystery aspect, I really didn't care about it. So I'm just being honest when I say that I actually fell asleep before the movie ended, probably because my eyes were so tired from straining, but I also didn't care enough to go back and rewatch what I'd missed. That's a really bad sign, so it went pretty low on my list. The Simpson's Movie, though, that's a different conversation that I'd love to have with a guest one day. My high school and college self would never believe it that there would be a day when a Pixar movie would be amongst the worst movies I've seen. Now, I do have some explaining to do, so bear with me. Turning Red is number 3 on my list. First, let me just clarify that I know I'm not the target audience for this coming-of-age movie. I get it. But the problem is, Pixar never needed a target audience in the past. They had the ability to reach every single person whatever the story was. So that's one major strike agains this weird film. Also, I'm not one of those people who say this was an inappropriate movie for my kids. Sure, it was a little early for them to watch, seeing as it dealt mostly with puberty and periods, but I think it stayed well within the bounds of acceptability, and for that I give it credit. I think the idea for the story is actually pretty great. But it just felt so rushed, like the movie was trying to get to the big explosive climax as quickly as possible. I don't know, maybe it's just me and my inability to connect with moms and grandmas and daughters all fighting it out dressed as giant red pandas. So for me this film is firmly toward the bottom of my list, but I get it if it's higher on your list. All I'm saying is, and I don't know if I influenced them or not, that my kids even though it was a weird movie. Pixar is better than this. They should know better. But I will say, I forget when he did or said (there's my bad memory again), but the dad totally stole the movie for me. Two left. Number 9 is Uncharted. This movie was boooooring. It was predictable in the absolute worst way. It was unfunny, even though I really like Mark Wahlberg - I just had the sense that he didn't want to be there. Tom Holland was still Spider-Man in every way. Did I mention this was the most predictable movie I've ever seen? The screenwriters weren't even trying to shock us, and I say shame on them. If you can't give us something new, then don't write. I will say, the flying ships as the end was pretty cool, so I would recommend you YouTube that, but skip the rest of this trash pile movie. And that leaves us with number 10, the absolute worst movie of 2022. But first a word from my sponsor. It pains me so deeply to say this, but Jurassic Park: Dominion sucked, sucked, sucked so bad. One of the guys I was with was ready to walk out 15 minutes in. This movie did EVERYthing wrong. Absolutely everything. So much, that I don't even know where to begin. But first, how did we get from the majesty and glory of 1993 Jurassic Park to this toilet water? I mean, how is it possible that these two films are even related? In my mind, they're not. Not even close. It's like comparing Goodfellas to Clifford the Big Red Dog. What's so bothersome about Jurassic World: Dominion is that it had the blueprint laid down for it. It's like one of those situations where I get to yell, "You had ONE job!" Except, I never get to yell that, my wife does. But they couldn't even pull off a movie about dinosaurs chasing people and eating them. No, they had to do this weird mosquito subplot, with chicken dinosaurs (okay, the chicken dinosaur was the one cool thing in this movie, but it was so freaking brief), and some stupid thing about a little-girl clone. Did ANYbody ask for this movie? Actually, yes. Everyone wanted what Universal had been advertising for over a year. Remember that short film called Battle at Big Rock? Check that shit out! That 10-minute film was better than Fallen Kingdom and Dominon put together. It gave us what we were promised and what everyone on literally planet earth wanted. Did I put "literally" in the wrong place there? That's how flustered I am. Guys, I have a whole podcast on just how much of a shit-show this movie was. Check it out: It's episode 14. But all we wanted was a movie about the dangerous world of dinosaurs and humans cohabitating, but instead we got some idiot-ass movie about an underworld where they needed something, that I can't even remember. And as far as I can tell, not one single animatronic. What made them think 100% CGI was the way to go? I'll relent, I think the raptor heads were robots, but that's about it. I mean, they had the original cast handed to them on a golden plate with a sign that said: "You're welcome, have fun!" But even they were delegated to the most asinine and pointless storyline. They had Laura Dern say, "You can slip into my DM's." Was this movie written by a bunch of brain-dead millennials? I don't say this often, but every writer and unit director and producer needs to be fired or banned from Hollywood for five years. But that won't happen because people out there liked it and kept going back to see it to give this nipple-circus money. So! How's that for ending on a positive note? Sorry folks, I can't do it today. I've had a terrible week and I've been forced to revisit Jurassic Park: Dominion in the dark recesses of my mind. But the silver lining is that the next episode will be all about the best movies of 2022, so it'll end on a real head-lifter, and no, Top Gun: Maverick is NOT the number one movie on that list, surprisingly, though it was close. I'm talking, splitting Tom Cruise's beautiful hair. Yes, I have a huge man crush on Mr. Curise and also on the A-lister who's in my number one movie. If you have a movie you want me to review, old or new, email me at author.andrewtoy@gmail.com. I'd be super honored if you'd leave a review and rate my show because I've been told that's what helps the show grow. Although as of now, 11 people have rated my show and only one has left a review. And that one was my wife, and I'm pretty sure she was responsible for at least five of those 11 reviews. To be honest, I'm a bit butt-hurt by that. I see the downloads, the downloads are kicking in like crazy, so I know people are out there listening. I just can't believe that everyone out there is Switzerland and have no opinion. Write in, let me know what you think. Oh, and I'm going to leave you with a question I want you to answer for me. Call or text; I might play your answer on the next episode. The question is, what are the top 3 worst movies you saw last year? And they don't even have to be made in 2022. It could be something from 2002 you picked up from the library, you've been told for the last 20 years that it's the greatest movie ever and when you watched it, you began to question society as a whole. Text your answer to 863-303-6268 and leave your name and where you live. Remember, for every bad movie out there, there's half of a good movie somewhere else. Lest we forget he also turned down a whopping $440 million contract extension from the Washington Nationals. Geesh! The second biggest story to come out on Monday involved the Los Angeles Lakers as it was reported that LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis all got on a call together to reiterate their dedication to one another... should the Lakers decide to actually keep Russ. Only time will tell on that one. Later, FOX Sports MLB betting analyst and FanDuel sports analytics expert Edward Egros swings by to discuss why the total number of home runs is down this season, whether or not New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge should be viewed as the best player in baseball, the likelihood that we'll see another two-way star like Shohei Ohtani anytime soon, why he believes the Chicago White Sox have been the most surprising team through the first half of the MLB season – and not in a good way, Clayton Kershaw's future with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and much more! What is a freemartin heifer? That’s today’s topic. It is related to one of our cows having twins. Stay tuned for those details. In other news, “is that a skunk?” That’s what I thought yesterday when I was walking out to get the cows. You never know what you are going to run into on the homestead. And the dogwood trees are in bloom what a treat. It’s different for us out here in the country. Driving along the highway, there are lots of dogwood trees in everybody’s yard. These are well-trimmed and very round trees. They are quite lovely. The dogwood trees here on the homestead are sprinkled through the woods. It looks like it is snowing in patches everywhere. I love this time of year. I want to take a minute and say welcome to all the new listeners and welcome back to the veteran homestead-loving regulars who stop by the FarmCast for every episode. I appreciate you all so much. What would I do without You? I have no idea. I’m so glad you are here. I’m so excited to share with you are the various stuff going on at the farm this week. There is a lot of it. Our Virginia Homestead Life Updates This time of year, everything is kicked into high gear. It seems like one thing is happening right on top of another. And when you have the odd thing pop up – like your windshield getting a ding by a flying rock on the highway that quickly expanded to a lengthy crack requiring a windshield replacement, it makes it that much busier. To top off that cute little story, you never question how much it is going to cost for those great auto-driving gadgets if something breaks. The windshield has a camera right behind the rear-view mirror that required recalibration after the glass was replaced. That lovely service cost one and half times the cost of the windshield replacement itself. A day later I find out that the automatic headlight features are no longer working. I have to make a second trip to town for some codes to get cleared out. That fixed the problem but it took another three hours out of my day. Do you guys have days like that? You have so much to do and you end up doing something completely unrelated to anything on your “to-do” list. I still have a pending “to-do” regarding that windshield replacement. In Virginia, every county has an annual inspection that requires a sticker to be displayed on the windshield. Yup! You guessed it. That little feature didn’t survive the procedure. I got it back in pieces with an apology and a reminder that I would need to get that inspection sticker replaced. When am I going to get that done? Geesh. It has been one of those weeks. On to the homestead happenings in and around these minor annoyances. Gardens and Orchard The strawberries are doing really well. I can’t wait for them to start blooming. Speaking of blooming, the blueberries are busting out all over. Keep the second week of June in mind. That’s likely when we will have blueberries available at the farmer’s markets. I’ll be making lots of blueberry jam again this year. At least I hope I will be. If you’ve been around the podcast a while, you might remember that we have had some trouble with racoons in the past. These are really cute creatures and I’m willing to share a little of our abundance with them. However, when they start eating the entire crop of blueberries, that’s where I draw the line. We put up an electric fence two years ago. It worked beautifully. In fact, it worked so well that we didn’t even have it working last year and we still got all the berries. I guess the experience the previous year was so “shocking” that these little guys decided not to even try last year. I wonder if that caution will hold up for another year. Naw, let’s not test it. That electric fence needs to be reinstated in the coming weeks to ensure that we are successful in harvesting our wonderful blueberries. The blackberries are growing lots of leaves but have not started blooming quite yet. It is a wonderful time of year when the blackberries bloom. A related plant, the wild rose, also blooms about the same time. Between these two plants, the fragrance in the air is heavenly. The goats have cleared out most of the wild rose and wild blackberries so we may have to rely solely on the domestic blackberries for our perfumed air this season. We shall see. The green peas are jumping up out of the ground. Scott built a wonderful trellis for these lovelies. We have two 70-ft long beds with six rows of peas in each that are coming up. Peas love the cool weather. It’s a good thing they do. The temps are going to drop into the low 30’s tonight. But I expect the peas to be fine. There might be a very light frost, but we should be okay with that. The early blooming fruit trees are done and will be setting fruit at this point. That is a greater concern. If it gets too cold, the cherries, peaches, and plums could lose their fruit. I was looking at the peach trees yesterday and I didn’t see any small fruit. Perhaps it will be all right. We shall see. What was I doing out in the orchard yesterday? I was chasing a small quail. Quail While I was testing the automatic waterers, one of the younger girls slipped by me and jumped to the ground. I chased her and chased her and chased her. She got into the orchard and the grass is about 8 inches tall in there. I saw exactly where she landed but when I got there, she was gone. I walked outward in a spiral, expanding larger and larger, but I never saw her. I guess she’s gone for good. Sigh! I hope she has a great life out there on her own. Hopefully, she will be able to fend for herself. It’s hard to tell though. She has always had her food presented in an easily consumable form with no effort on her part. Out there on her own, she will need to scratch around a lot to find bugs and worms and such. Quail are very carnivorous and require lots and lots of protein. I wish her the best. Who knows? She may turn up in a day or so and I will be able to catch her. We had that experience a couple of years ago. Scott lost two hens that time and we eventually caught both of them and returned them to their cages. So, there is hope. The rest of the quail are doing very, very well. Twice a year Scott gives the quail hutches a thorough cleaning. He finished that job just as the new babies went out into the grow out cages. They are doing really well. We have 36 of them at this time. Figuring out how to work the automatic waterers is always a challenge, but they mastered it in no time. Just this morning 72 more eggs went into the incubator. The second cycle of baby quail has started. Sheep and Lambs We are done with the lambing season. The last ewe delivered twins a few days ago. Girls!! Yay!! They are doing very well. We ended up with three girls and three boys. Six healthy lambs. Susie Q is still getting her bottle twice a day, but she has been turned loose with the rest of the sheep and lambs. I’m thinking she doesn’t like this very much, but she is getting used to it. Because she was so attached to Scott and myself and literally never left our side, it was important for her to start spending her time with other animals. After all, she isn’t a human and she needs to make friends with the other animals. It seems to be going well. I always feel sorry for these lambs that have no mother caring for them. But they seem to do very well in spite of their orphan status in the flock. Lambert is our flock ram. He was a bottle-baby last year. Look how far he has been elevated in status. I’ll probably keep Susie Q as a flock ewe also. The bottle babies are somewhat like pets. Not exactly, but definitely more special than the others. Cows and Calves Violet is the only animal we have left who has yet to deliver. She is not due until the first week of June. It’s always a relief when we make it through this delicate time for all of our female creatures. Scott briefly talked about having a second set of lambs in the fall. I am not in favor of this as it is quite stressful for me when our ladies are nearly term. I’d rather keep it to just a couple of months in the spring. My nerves need a rest for the remainder of the year. Butter produced a very big surprise for us. If you haven’t seen and heard Scott’s video on our Facebook page, you have to get over there and find it. It was posted on Thursday, April 15th. He is filming the results of him helping Butter deliver this cute little girl when all of a sudden, he sees another set of hooves. Here’s a link to that post. It’s hilarious. Watch to the end. The twin calves are really cute. However, there is a problem when twins are one boy and one girl. The heifer calf, the girl, is most likely what is called a “freemartin”. That’s the topic that I want to dive into with more detail. Butter’s Surprise I had Butter pegged for delivery in late May, not mid-April. I’m not sure how I got so far off on those calculations. I think I was planning ahead on my spreadsheet, estimating where the dates would fall with various scenarios and neglected to put the dates back to their original settings. About three or four days before she gave birth, it became obvious that my calculations were off. Her udder swelled up and she was just huge. And it was the day before she gave birth that I had the very strong thought that she might have twins. She was really huge. It really is hard to tell though. When they fill their belly up with hay and grass, it can get really big even when they are not pregnant. Add pregnancy and they all look really huge just before they give birth. I just had that very strong thought and then she did, in fact, have twins. There is no problem when the twins are both girls or both boys. But when one is a boy and the other a girl, there are definite issues. Nothing like they will die or anything like that. No, they will be quite healthy. It’s the freemartin phenomenon to which I am referring. What? You don’t know what that means? Neither did I. We had actually purchased a calf that was a likely freemartin heifer when we purchased our first milk cows, Claire and Buttercup. We purchased Beta because the price was right and we wanted one additional cow strictly for beef. So, what is a freemartin heifer anyway? Here is the low-down. Freemartin Heifer The term freemartin refers to an infertile female mammal with masculinized behavior and non-functioning ovaries. The animal originates as a female with the double X chromosome, but during gestation acquires the male, XY chromosome. This can only happen with a male/female twin gestation. As I said, as long as there are two girls or two boys, there is no problem. This occurs in all cattle species that have been studied, and it can also happen occasionally in other mammals including sheep, goats and pigs. We have never seen this in our sheep and they deliver mixed male/female twins all the time. So, I have to think it is quite rare in sheep. Sheep and goats deliver twins and even triplets all the time. However, natural twins in cows only happens about .5% of the time. About one in every 200 births. A large cattle herd of 200 or more cows would see twins regularly in any given calving season. With the male/female twin calf set, they not only share the uterus but they also share the placental membranes. That’s where the problem arises. The joining of the placental membranes occurs at about the fortieth day of gestation. After that happens, the fluids of the two fetuses can easily mix. There is an exchange of blood and antigens that carry unique characteristics of bulls and heifers. In the end, both will have some characteristics of the other sex. The male is only affected by reduced fertility. In the female, over 90% of them are completely infertile. That makes her a freemartin. One who is genetically female but has characteristics of a male. Ovaries generally do not develop correctly and are small. There can be other structural anomalies as well. In the end, freemartinism cannot be prevented. And it really is rare. Even with any set of twins, there is a 50%-50% chance of same sex calves. If I do the math correctly, that means that 1 in 200 births would produce twins and at least half of the time, those twins would be fine – twins of the same sex. Anyway, that’s the story of our twin calves. They are cute beyond measure, but likely we have two steers. I don’t know about the Hansel. Oh, I forgot to mention we call them Hansel and Gretel. So, I don’t know if Hansel will make a decent bull or not. But we can be pretty sure that Gretel will never produce a calf. What do you think we should do with these two calves?  We currently are bottle feeding both of them. They could be sold as bottle babies. We could raise them as steers. We could try to breed Gretel when she is old enough. We could raise Hansel as a bull. He is 50% registered Normande and 50% registered Jersey. If he is fertile, he would make a fine bull for somebody. Let us know what you think. Final Thoughts That’s it for this podcast. It’s a great time of the year here on the homestead. I’m so glad to be nearly finished with birthing. As I mentioned it is quite stressful for me. I just never know what to expect. We have beautiful lambs and beautiful calves. We are truly blessed. The joy of watching all of the plants and animals grow will fill our lives for the next several months. I hope you all are having a wonderful spring season as well. This book! I was happy, sad, angry, surprised, and disappointed. Geesh, the leadership examples abound. Historians may appreciate this read, as well as students of leadership. I learned after I finished this book that some in the medical field had this book as required reading while they trained. The important spotlight of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is the placement and application of ethics in an institution. I think (but I tend to think this way!) the ethics discussion that can be sparked from this book can also fit many institutional contexts -- medicine, education, religion, entertainment, government, etc. Leave a message with your review of the book, if you read it before or when you complete it. How do you sleep? Probably pretty boringly compared to Keith. You sleep in a bed? Yeah, so does Keith, but that's where the similarities end between Keith and you. Keith is the kind of guy that has the energy of a 6 year old boy who just snorted one of those huge pixy sticks, but he has the talent and equipment to do something awesome with it. Keith is the kind of guy that goes hard on everything. I once saw him eat cereal with canoe paddle because the spoon wasn't fast enough. I heard a story that he got pissed off a mountain because it wasn't sleep enough and then an earth quake happened, dude made the earth quiver. He walks up ski mountains just to go back down them and end where he started, how's that for a treadmill for you? Do you do flips all summer on your wake board? We’re all in a race for time (or, we were before we found ourselves stuck at home, perhaps…) and the disease of busy-ness and being overscheduled isn’t even relegated to the Western world anymore. (I should know, I live in South Asia!) We are a slave to our overbooked schedules, our pursuit of success, other’s expectations, and our kids’ extracurriculars. We may do things because we think we should, then lose sleep over it, wake up early and/or stay up late in an attempt to accomplish them. The “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” philosophy costs us much more than, well, sleep! You’ve heard that we should aim for 8 hours of sleep. According to the CDC, the average American sleeps fewer than 7 hours a night, and almost half of us sleep fewer than six hours per night. In today's episode, I lay out the argument for sleep, which has been well-document and earnestly written about by Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post. Rum and Cola for the Soul

3. Homeless and Full of Peace and Hope(Luke 3)Jeanette is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet. She is AH-MAZING. Every time I see her, she encourages me more than most anyone I have ever known. When I think of what it means to be a Christian who models a life of peace and hope, Jeanette is the first person who pops into my mind. She is compassionate, generous, full of joy, wise… and homeless.Yup, she's homeless. She's not the kind of homeless most people picture when they think of a homeless person. The people you see on the streets with signs are only part of the picture of homelessness in America. Many people are like Jeanette, caught in a cycle of poverty that is really hard to get out of.Jeanette stays with friends and in shelters. She works whenever she can find something to do. But she has trouble maintaining a job because years of drug abuse has left its toll on her memory and her body (and her work history). Honestly, she has no concept of saving any money for the future. When she gets money, it's for spending and giving away.Jeanette doesn't ask for handouts. If you give her something, she will find someone to share it with. Whenever I saw her at the shelter where I used to volunteer, she would always give me way more than I could ever give her. She was thrilled with being a Christian and how much Jesus changed her life. So, she spent most of her days praying for people and looking for ways to encourage them. As I was having meltdowns about leaving my teaching career, she was praying for me to find my way. She didn't always know where her next meals were coming from, but she'd tell me not to worry. She had more peace than me because she knew her peace wasn't based on something as unreliable as a job. The hope she has for the world is infectious. When she reads her Bible, she writes down Bible verses over and over on pieces of paper and walks around looking for people to share them with. How absolutely AH-MAZING is that?I couldn't help but think of her story as I read Luke 3 and the lessons John the Baptist preached. He was homeless too, or more accurately, his home was in the woods. It's so crazy to think about the story of John the Baptist. He was a bold man who had a huge following. Though he was following God faithfully, his life was pretty tough. He preached in the wilderness and ate wild locusts and honey. Many people believe he was used to living on his own because his parents died when he was very young. In Roman occupied Israel, most Jews were poor, so John's relatives couldn't provide for him. He knew how to survive in the wilderness so that is where he set up camp to preach. This arrangement worked out really well, since the Romans were extremely strict about gatherings which might lead to riots. The Jews were already known for not being cooperative with Roman leaders. So, it was safer for John to camp out in the woods away from civilization and yell at religious people about how they needed to change their heart and get right with God.It's hard for me to imagine this working. ‘Cause when I think of yelling preachers, I think of obnoxious religious people cramming their opinion down other people's throats. Turns out, John was yelling at those people!I love to think about Luke's Roman readers reacting to John's sermon. They had grown up around Jewish people. They were used to Jews thinking they were “unclean” and refusing to associate with them lest they become unclean also. Imagine how they felt when they read about John calling those people out:John said to the (Jewish) crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” Luke 3:7-9 (NIV).So, what's up with calling people a brood of vipers?Well, that might not seem like a big insult to you. But it was a major insult back in the ancient day. It was like the Queen Mother of insults with an F-bomb attached. The Roman dudes reading this were like “Dammmmn!” and somebody yelled “Oh no he didn't!!!” (or whatever ancient Romans did when somebody “just got burned”).Vipers were considered the vilest creatures on earth to ancient people. They believed when vipers were born, they ate their mothers. (I don't know why they believed this...I'm guessing no one really wanted to get close enough to intensely study baby vipers…)The viper comment was a terrible insult, like saying you were the worst kind of double-crossing back-stabbing backstabber. It was also a fitting picture for what John's religious audience was doing. God had given them commandments to follow in order to have a relationship with him. He promised to protect them and provide for them if they would follow him. God would make them a great nation that would bless all other nations. Instead of being grateful and obedient, they tried to use God's laws to manipulate God and to hurt the people they were supposed to bless. The Jewish religious leaders thought they were special and blessed by God just because of their birth. This is what John the Baptist is referring to when he said, “Do not even begin to think that you can justify yourself by saying that you have Abraham as your father. He basically said, “Geesh people, this is God we are talking about. He could make descendants of Abraham out of these rocks if he wanted to. You can't possibly think all it takes for you to be in God's kingdom is to be born into the right family. You have to follow him! Then John used a word which has really been ruined by religious people: repent. When I hear someone talking about repentance, I immediately assume they are judgmental. It makes me think of this obnoxious preacher on my college campus who called me a whore for wearing a mini-skirt. Unfortunately, when religious people these days use the word repent, they are most often condemning other people because of a behavior they disagree with. However, the ancient Greek word which has been translated “repent” was about a much deeper change than just behaviors. The word they used, metanoia, is more like our modern word “mindshift.” It was actually used in contrast to only changing your behaviors or changing so you could get a better outcome. Metanoia was about a complete overhaul in how you think. So, when John said repent, he wasn't simply saying, “here's a list of bad behaviors you need to quit doing.” He was saying, “your abusive behaviors show that you need to change your whole way of thinking about God.”It's crazy, but John's bold approach worked. The people knew they were messed up, so they said, “What should we do?”John replied, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same” Luke 3:11(NIV).Which seems like a Yoda-ish answer. I mean, two shirts aren't a lot of shirts John. How are we supposed to live that out in America?John was issuing a call to extreme generosity. This isn't another formula to measure if we are “in” or not. It's a check for our heart. Are we willing to be so generous with others that we might even give if we aren't completely sure we will be able to make it without what we gave away?John's call to extreme generosity was a glaring contrast to what the religious leaders of the day were professing. They lived in luxury and favor with the Roman government. They believed their lives of ease proved they were blessed by God. Meanwhile, most of the working-class people were struggling. They had been conquered by Rome and lost much of their land. They also had to pay heavy taxes to maintain the Empire. In addition, they gave offerings to support the priests. The priests did not respect the common people for their sacrifices or hardship. Instead, they judged them harshly.I believe John was proclaiming that this life is not about how much stuff we can get, but about how much we can help others. Two shirts aren't a lot of shirts, especially back in the day when you had to make them by hand. Giving from your excess doesn't require much (and the priests weren't even doing that). Giving when you have very little reflects the heart of God for all humanity. It's a gracious, loving act which elevates the person with less.Because of John's preaching something crazy happened. Verse 12 says, “Even tax collectors came to be baptized.” (NIV).Did you catch that? Is your mind blown? Probably not. But it would be if you were living back in the ancient day and you heard about tax collectors being baptized by a Jewish prophet.See, the Jews believed they were God's chosen people and God was going to set up an earthly kingdom. This was true, but they were wrong about how God's kingdom was going to work. All they could imagine was a political kingdom with them at the top ruling over the rest of the world. So, when they were conquered by Rome, they decided Rome was the enemy of God and God's plan. Tax collectors were therefore seen as Jewish people who made money by collecting money for the enemy of God. Even worse, they took more than was required and kept the extra for themselves.Tax collectors were such hated traitors that when religious teachers of the day wanted to make a point about someone being really, really, obnoxiously bad, they just said, “he was as bad as a tax collector.”And you know who backed up tax collectors? Soldiers. Think of all you know about Roman soldiers. They were tough guys who did a lot of messed-up stuff. I mean, these dudes were BRUTAL. Plus, they were the muscle behind the Roman Empire, God's supposed enemy.Think about how people viewed tax collectors and soldiers, then consider the rest of this scene from Luke 3. Some tax collectors got baptized and asked John, “So what should we do...I mean besides just giving away our shirts and food?”“Don't collect any more than you are required to,” he told them. Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?”He replied, “Don't extort money and don't accuse people falsely—be content with your pay.” Luke 3:13-14 (NIV).Wait?! What???? Don't you mean stop siding with the enemy and find a new job?Religious people in comfortable lives of ease don't like to admit this, but sometimes life sticks you in difficult situations with no way out. John didn't tell the soldiers to desert their posts (they'd have gotten killed). He told them to be as fair as possible in their duties. And tax collectors, they were like the mafia for Rome. They were hated more than soldiers, but John didn't tell them anything except: be fair in collecting money from people.Whatever you are struggling with in your life, whatever injustices you see around you, this little nugget of truth should calm your soul. God doesn't expect you to right all of the wrong systems in the world, even the ones in which you might currently be trapped. He expects you to follow him to the best of your ability as you navigate this broken world. And just to be crystal clear: Do not think for a second this means you have to stay in a situation where you are being abused!!! That is not what I'm saying at all! But when you don't know the way out, that doesn't mean God has abandoned you. Follow him as closely as you know how and he will honor your heart and show you the next steps. Psalms 34:18 declares that “God is near to the brokenhearted.” (NIV). He sees your struggles, dear one! They matter to him. This world is a broken, hurt-filled mess, but there is beauty in every day. There is hope. God knows you can't change all of your circumstances. He sees your heart. God longs to walk through this broken, messy world with you.My friend Jeanette showed me this. She will probably never look like the picture of Christianity put before us in popular media, but her handwritten Bible verses inspired me more than a thousand sermons. She gives to everyone she comes in contact with and she blesses everyone who knows her. She may be homeless still, but she is a strong warrior in God's kingdom. She is full of peace and she shares hope everywhere she goes.My DisclaimerThroughout this book, I completely rag on religion, which I'm sure is completely confusing since, “Uhmm aren't you religious, Cindy?”Yes. Yes, I am. Truthfully, I think we all are and it isn't always all bad. But when religion is bad, it is insidiously awful and damaging like nothing else. Religious shaming hurts people at the very core of who they are and religious hatred unites people to do some of the worst atrocities ever committed against humanity. And in my years of working with survivors, I've grown to absolutely hate how people use religion to shame the people who God wants us to embrace and encourage. For the sake of clarity, in this book, when I refer to religion, I mean “any system of beliefs, values, or practices which we believe somehow make us more worthy than other people.”I'm aware that this definition creates a HUGE mess for how we look at the world. It's easy to identify religions like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. And it's easy to look at world history and identify where these religions have gotten ugly. It's hard to recognize the less defined, less traditional religions people are currently clinging to.We live in a time where people are largely rejecting traditional religions for a lot of good reasons. However, they aren't replacing traditional religions with anything better. Instead, they are just drawing different dividing lines and we are all hating each other as much, if not more, than ever. One of the main messages of the book of Luke is about how Jesus taught a different way. Each story shows how strict religious adherence does not give us what we are all seeking. Strict religious adherence all by itself does not produce good things in us. The only way religion can help us is if it points us to our need for God.My point is that all of us are religious to some degree. Christians like to say Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship. I would say, it's supposed to be a relationship. However, the American versions of Christianity are mostly religion. Often these religions can show us our need for a relationship with Jesus. Sometimes, these religions can get in the way of our relationship with Jesus. In my own life, I spent years and years trying to be “good enough” for God and trying to prove myself through serving him. I failed over and over. I wrestled with depression and anxiety all the time because I was living with constant shame over mistakes I had made.God was there the whole time, loving me and wanting to walk through all the hurt and struggles of this life with me. But my foolish pride wanted to do it on my own. My pride kept me from seeing God when he was right there, longing to help me.The following story in Luke presents a picture of how our religious practices and foolish pride can keep us from recognizing Jesus when he is right here with us.In Luke 4:14-44, after Jesus' temptation in the desert, he returned to a region called Galilee. He went around preaching in the local synagogues. He was teaching the people and they were all super-impressed with what he said. Jesus was wowing the crowds with his understanding of scripture and pointing out the hypocrisy of their current practices.Well, Jesus was wowing everyone except the people in his hometown. When he visited his hometown of Nazareth, he got a different reception. In Nazareth, Jesus went into the local synagogue on a Sabbath day and began to teach the people. In those days, different rabbis would stand up and read the scripture and then the leaders would talk about it. Following this tradition, Jesus stood up and read the following excerpt from the Old Testament:“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,because he has anointed meto proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisonersand recovery of sight for the blind,to set the oppressed free,to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.”Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:18-21 (NIV)In other words, Jesus read a prophecy they were all familiar with and said, “Guys this happening. I'm the one you've been waiting for.”Luke tells us that their reactions were mixed. “All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips.” Luke 4:22 (NIV). But at the same time, they were saying, “Isn't this Joseph's son?” Luke 4:22 (NIV).Jesus had grown up in their hometown. He did chores just like them. How could he be anything special? They all recognized what he said was amazing and gracious, but they also like “Hold up. How can you be the Messiah, you're just a regular dude?”Then, OH MY GOODNESS! I crack up every time I read Jesus' response to them as they questioned him. He knew their hearts. He knew that they didn't want to know him or God's plan, they only wanted him for what he could do for them.Jesus totally called them out. In Luke 4:23-27, he said:“Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!' And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.'”“Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown. I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon. And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.” (NIV).Basically, Jesus said “All y'all are going to tell me I need to prove myself to you. But I have no need to. I don't do miracles to gain power in this world, I do miracles to bless people who call on me. Consider these stories that y'all are all familiar with: the famous prophet Elijah miraculously provided food for a widow during a severe famine. There were many widows in Israel who were not seeking God, so Elijah went to a woman who you would consider an unredeemable pagan.”Then Jesus continued: “And Elisha, another of your favorite prophets, remember him? Well, he also healed a foreigner, another person you would consider unredeemable. Religious people just like you wouldn't listen to Elisha. You honor Elisha as being from God but you are just like the religious people who wouldn't listen to him.”This was a total mic drop moment. Everyone there understood what he was implying. Today we would have been going, “Oh no he didn't!!!”He just called the whole crowd out for missing the point of God's plan. It was never supposed to be a religious system for just one race to rule over the world. And the crowd totally felt the burn from Jesus' insult. Luke says they were furious. Jesus had accused them of not knowing God at all! And in perhaps the most ironic thing ever to happen on planet earth, this crowd drove Jesus out of town and tried to throw him off of a cliff! It's kind of like they were saying, “We'll show this guy how much we love and follow God. Let's kill him!”The sad, (and, if you're twisted, comical) irony in this story is that Jesus was the Messiah they had been reading about their whole lives. What he told them about themselves and their ancestors was absolutely true. No one even tried to say it wasn't. They just wanted to get rid of him for saying it. They wanted the Messiah to give them power over others, not confront the problems of their hearts. It's interesting to note that when Jews spoke of peace, they were referring to living in harmony with God and his good plan for the world. They greeted each other and parted with the word “shalom” which we translate as peace, but it is much more. Shalom refers to seeking to live in harmony with God's good desires for this world. It was a constant reminder of the kingdom Jesus was bringing for the whole world. Though they said, “shalom” they wanted what we all want: lives of ease, power, comfort, control, and satisfaction with who we are.Their extreme response is a picture of how much we don't like seeing the ugliness in our own hearts. None of us like confronting how our religion may be blinding us to actually knowing God. None of us want to confront who we really are deep in our souls. None of us want to deal with the brokenness within us. The most amazing thing about Jesus is that he loves us way too much to not push us to deal with the conflicts deep in our soul. He wants us to have inner shalom peace with him. Therefore, he wasn't just confronting the people in his hometown to be a giant jerk and get a rise out of some religious people (I mean, not gonna lie, I'd still think he was cool if he did!) He wanted them to see that even though they were good at being religious, they were missing the point. They were missing walking in peace with God.Even after all of these years of seeing God work in my life, I still don't immediately like confronting the issues deep in my soul. I still don't like seeing my own hypocrisy and bitterness. I can totally relate to the wanting to throw someone off of a cliff thing. I mean, I like to believe it would be a child abuser and not Jesus, but I totally understand frustration over being confronted with what I'm really like. However, this is also the most amazing part about following Jesus. I am completely loved and adored by God. As I confront those parts of me, I wish would stay hidden, I get to change them. I get to continually grow and be better. I get to have a mindshift as I walk in shalom with Jesus. I get to share his peace with the world. I don't have to live in shame, hypocritically hiding behind religious rules which do nothing but separate me from others. I get to share this peace with the world the way my friend Jeanette does.Jesus will show you the truth about who you really are as he walks with you and helps you become better. And yeah, as you cling to whatever religious belief makes you feel safe and in control, seeing who you really are might make you kinda want to throw him off a cliff sometimes. Thankfully, he's been there before. He will love you anyway. How freaking awesome is that?

Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! Geesh, the House of Fortune are a bunch of snobby fuddy-duddies! Well it’s no wonder that the group has decided to help the Lowstriders guild. They head to the drug tents to search for a goblin named Skrod who will lead them to a secret warehouse entrance. These masters of stealth, illusion and disguise will attempt to gain entry, find the golden hourglass and return to The Drain. Patrick is hoping to get some credit for the group’s work so that he can work his way up the guild ladder. I’m sure everything will go completely fine and without a hitch. Right? Tune in and find out! Join in on the banter as these dickheads whose understanding of the rules is questionable, and their moral compasses are even more so, stumble through dungeons, traps, monsters, and social intricacies as they attempt to complete a quest for wholly selfish reasons. If you are a veteran dragon slayer from the long long ago of the 1970’s or a newbie who is interested in hearing what this devil worshipping game is all about, Botched: A D&D Podcast is the DnD Podcast for you. As mentioned, we are playing 5th edition rules, so if you’ve never played this version of the game before, listening to us will give you an idea of how it may be different from previous versions of the game. 5th edition is a great rule set to start playing the game with. Find out if there’s a local game near where you live at comic book or game stores. Hell, buy some books, buy some dice, get some food and drinks and invite your friends over to play with you for completely different experience! A special shout out and thank you to all of our supporters over on Patreon. You help us continue to churn out “quality” episodes. With your continued support we can upgrade our dining room, I mean studio, with better quality microphones, sound proofing and merchandise. Good morning, good morning, GOOD morning!!!  Happy Monday morning, to ya!!! Can you believe it's the last week in April??? Where, oh, where, has all this time gone. Geesh, if you not doing nothing, you best be getting to it, cause you got to start somewhere, in order to wind up, at the finish line.  Speaking of finish line, just like, a good old race, it takes time to get to the end of it. Sometimes, you barely make it to the finish line, but when you do cross it, what a great feeling of accomplishment.  So I wanna say to you today, start you a "race," and no matter how long it takes you to get to the finish line, keep going, cause things, TRULY do take time, and the goal, is, the finish line, of success.  Anywho, I haven't posted the link to my donation site in a while, and someone was looking for it here, so here it is.  If you would like to make sure that, the Morning Talk with the Red Hawk Show, continues to soar, please send your donations, by way of my business website, http://theredhawk1967.wix.com/stwrhtheshow, your generosity is much appreciated.

Deep in the Nevada desert lies a secret underground lab called Wildfire. Is the lab there to promote peace or to forward the agenda of war? What if we discovered a new and previously unthinkable type of life? What would we do with that knowledge? Would we share it for the betterment of all humankind? Or would we weaponize it for our own selfish gain? These are some of the questions raised by "The Andromeda Strain". The questions are raised but they are never fully answered. The answer is up to you. What would you do when faced with a deadly biological threat? And what the heck is up with those Presidential advisors?!? Geesh!
