On Down to Earth But Heavenly Minded Podcast. The Lamentations of Jeremiah by H A Ironside. It should be a matter of deep interest for the child of God, in any dispensation, to know that there is One above who notes with compassion all of his sorrows, and is afflicted in all his afflictions. Nothing could demonstrate this more clearly than the incorporation, as a part of the Holy Scriptures, of the expressions of the heart-sorrows of Jeremiah as he beheld the overwhelming woes of his people, and the desolations of the Holy City . These feelings were right and proper – nay, produced by the Spirit of God in the heart of His servant Jeremiah. He, the God of Israel, was no cold, indifferent spectator of the anguish, humiliation and pains of the people of His choice. His holiness demanded that He chasten them for their iniquities; and He had used the king of Babylon to that end, but His heart was grieved for them still, as a loving father is sorely pained in his own correction of a wayward son. He greatly valued, therefore, the soul-exercises of His grief-stricken prophet, and has seen fit to place his lamentations on record for our instruction and comfort. In a certain sense Jeremiah speaks for the godly ones left in the land – their mouthpiece, as it were. The peculiar structure of this elegiac poem is worthy of note. In their original form, the first four chapters are acrostic, after the pattern of a number of the psalms. Chapters 1, 2 and 4 consist of twenty-two verses each; every verse commencing with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet, in regular order. Chapter 3, in which the fullest confession of their sin and grief is found, consists of sixty-six verses; and here three verses are given to each letter. That is, each of the first three verses begins with Aleph , the first letter of the alphabet; and the next three verses, each begins with Beth , the second letter; and so on to the end of the alphabet. In Psalm 119 we have twenty-two divisions of eight verses each, similarly arranged, as even the ordinary English Bible shows. There, every letter of the alphabet (which represents the whole compass of man's speech) is used in the praise of the perfect law of the Lord. In Lamentations every letter is required to express the sorrows following upon the neglect and breaking of that law. Chapter 5 is an exception to the acrostic style, though containing the same number of verses as the first, second, and fourth. The value of good decision-making is a theme in this episode. Our guest is Aaron Mitchell Finegold, the chief marketing officer at Kingsley Gate, a global executive search firm. As far back as college, Aaron wanted a career involving creative expression, a focus on human behavior, a business environment and a global setting, and those elements do shape his current role. Aaron describes a Kingsley Gate study into how and why successful organizations are good at deciding things. The report suggests that the skill of making effective, timely decisions is often overlooked in the process of hiring leaders. And yet dissatisfaction with an organization's decision-making processes is a major reason why executives resign. Research suggests that the capabilities to decide, and focus on people-centric factors, can transform an organization. Aaron says a good way to get better at deciding may be to map out the key decisions to be made over the next six months. Simply becoming aware of which decisions are important can make an individual or a team more effective. Former Fiorentini Rivals Turn His Refusal to Seek Re-Election Into Roast, of Sorts

Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini's remarks last weekend that he will not seek another term came as little surprise to those that attended his breakfast, but did bring out an impromptu and good-natured roast by those who have worked for, or competed against, the man.Former Mayor James A. Rurak observed the presence of many of Fiorentini's past political rivals, including himself, former Mayor William H. Ryan and retired Sen. James P. Jajuga.“First time we competed, I beat him. That was when we were about 18, 19 years old in an oratorial contest that was held by the Elks. He got so mad, he had to beat me in two citywide elections,” he told the laughing crowd.Rurak took a more serious note on what he believes brought Fiorentini success, but still delivered a humorous conclusion.“The Hale (Hospital) has been an enormous drag on—let's call it the ship of state. It had an enormous hole in the bottom. We plugged the hole by selling it, but we took on an enormous cargo—the Hale debt, the retirement funds, all of the things that the city had been obligated to do for very many years. Had not that ship been steered correctly; the cargo could have tipped one way or another at any given time. And, you steered it correctly. And, how did you do that? Well, fiscal management, tight fiscal management. Mr. Stingy,” he said to the crowd's roar.State Sen. Barry R. Finegold also picked up on Fiorentini's past rivals in the room, calling the state senate contest between the mayor and Jajuga in 1994, a “holy war.” He went on to quote late President John F. Kennedy on why the city flourished on the mayor's watch.“Things don't happen. They are made to happen. I can tell you that as someone that has been coming to the city a very, very long time—as we all know, my dad taught at Northern Essex so this is where we'd come a lot—this place is amazing for what he has done,” Finegold said.Former Haverhill Mayor William H. Ryan. (WHAV News photograph.)Former Mayor Ryan counted the time he sparred with Fiorentini on the City Council, where the mayor spent eight years.“As someone who has given everything to the City of Haverhill—a quarter of a century of his best working years, he gave to Haverhill. So, we really owe him a lot,” he said.City Solicitor William D. Cox Jr., who served as master of ceremonies, related how Fiorentini rang his doorbell on a Saturday 20 years ago. He said the future mayor told him he was thinking of running for mayor. To which, Cox responded seriously, “Why would you want to do that?” The city lawyer went on to give his summary of why the people continually returned his boss to office.“His goal has been to deliver the best possible government services at a cost we can all afford. That was a promise he delivered on,” Cox said.Despite the accolades, Finegold reminded everyone, the word “retirement” is a bit premature.“We got 10 months and we got a lot to do. Ok? We have a long time and we have myself, (Sen. Pavel) Payano, (Rep.) Ryan Hamilton, (Rep. Andy X.) Vargas. We got a lot to do,” he said. The only unfamiliar face may have been that of Michael McGovern, a behind-the-scenes political consultant, who jokingly apologized for sending mail into people homes. He said, however, he became a personal supporter as he watched other Gateway Cities in the state struggle over the past 20 years, while “Haverhill has transformed.”Support the show

The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness. The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them. They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills. For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her. Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire: Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick. They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field. The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people. ...

The vaccine race is front and centre in this discussion as well, as Judith explains how companies who are leading the development of the vaccine will undergo numerous challenges, as some of the vaccine components currently being used in these clinical trials have never been used in this capacity prior and are not approved yet. From an investment standpoint, Alex believes many of these companies have goals to distribute the vaccine on a non-profit basis which may hurt their ability to generate higher revenue levels.  They also discuss areas of healthcare that are investable and the huge rise of telemedicine. Chris and I sat down for another amazing chance to discuss and share with you what it takes to live the essence of a prospector and setting out to find new spots. Many prospectors become lost when it comes to getting out to search for new areas to mine. Looking for new gold can be a confidence destroyer and for some enough to make them quit prospecting. Old spots offer diminishing returns at some point and the courage and tools needed to find new gold is more than just going somewhere else. MacroFab Engineering Podcast

Podcast Notes Parker has been working on the SAIM (Semi-Automatic Inspection Machine) this week. Work had to pause as Parker broke off a M5 x 0.8MM drill/tap combo bit off inside the extrusion. Should be able to remove the tap when a left hand drill bit arrives from McMaster. Parker also designed a "man in the middle" board for the Altera USB Blaster programmer. This allows the programming cable to also power the device that is going to be programmed reducing the number of cables needed to hook up while in production. See Figure 1. This board is open source. Files on the MacroFab GitHub. The Jig of Destiny is almost complete. Parker is waiting on a 2-56 tap from McMaster to arrive before he can finish the Jig of Destiny. There are plans to use Octavo's OSD3358 IC in a project. Parker plans on having a project lined up by the next podcast. Stephen is currently working on the FX Dev Board. He is waiting on CrowdSupply getting back to him on when they can start the campaign. The enclosure has been priced out. A prototype of the enclosure will be ordered next week. Last week, Stephen was playing around with the NuTubes. They have limitations but Stephen is almost done with a audio amplifier that uses them. The SSPS now has a simpler analog control. Stephen was able to reduce how many opamps he needed to control the larger OPA541 opamp. Fixing the Space Echo started this week. Stephen is starting by replacing all the capacitors and Parker is working on the front plate. See Figure 2 and 3. Stephen and Parker go on a lengthy rant about capacitors. Stephen bought some "Fine Gold" audio grade capacitors. Parker likes the Nichicon's UBW series since they are baby blue in color. Stephen mention Mundorf capacitors. Asus is going to make a robot. Called the Zenbo. The Zenbo is basically IoT, home automation, and a robotic pet all rolled into a $600 package. RadioShack is returning. After closing 2000+ stores they hired a new CEO Dene Rogers. Parker wants to see a "will call" style setup for getting electronic parts. Special thanks to whixr over at Tymkrs for the intro and outro theme!
