Coming soon to the Binge is Watching You. Dominique Leili went missing from her home in suburban Atlanta in the summer of 2011. Her body was found in the woods near her house a week later. Investigators quickly made a surprising discovery: surveillance cameras captured every moment of her family's life for years. What was found on those recordings would unravel a twisted knot of jealousy, lies, and the need for control so shocking it's hard to put into words. So many people knew something was wrong between Nique and Matt, but nobody really knew, until they heard it… for themselves.  Binge all episodes of Watching You ad-free December 1st by subscribing to The Binge. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 350, “Who Do You Imitate?” Kim discusses the importance of being very careful in choosing who you imitate. Kim shared the sentiment of a song written about 20 years ago that showed what it might look like when someone imitates another's not so honorable behaviors, but also how the imitation of healthy behaviors might look. Be careful who you imitate, making sure to live a life that points any who choose to follow you to Christ and Christlikeness.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 28:1-4, with 2 and 3 as the focal verses:   2 Instead, he followed the example of the kings of Israel. He cast metal images for the worship of Baal. 3 He offered sacrifices in the valley of Ben-Hinnom, even sacrificing his own sons in the fire. In this way, he followed the detestable practices of the pagan nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.      WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Is your current Christ walk so that you would be willing to tell someone to imitate you? If not, what needs to change?     Additional Resources and Scriptures:  1 And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. Mr Scorsese (Apple TV, 5 episodes) Mr. Scorsese is a film portrait of America’s greatest living director through the lens of his work, exploring the many facets of a a man who redefined filmmaking, including his extraordinary career and unique personal history. With exclusive, unrestricted access to Martin Scorsese’s private archives, the documentary series is anchored by extensive conversations with the filmmaker himself and never-before-seen interviews with friends, family and creative collaborators including Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto, along with his children, wife Helen Morris and close childhood friends. Chad Powers (Disney+, 6 episodes) Eight years after an unforgivable mistake nukes his promising college football career, hotshot quarterback Russ Holliday tries to resurrect his dreams by disguising himself as Chad Powers — a talented oddball who walks onto the struggling South Georgia Catfish. The football star is played by Glen Powell. The series is being labelled as an American Ted Lasso by some. Boots (Netflix, 8 episodes) Inspired by former US Marine Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine, the eight-episode series is an irreverent, off-beat take on the coming-of-age story. Set in the tough, unpredictable world of the 1990s US Marine Corps—when being gay in the military was still illegal—the series follows directionless, closeted Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), the son of a decorated Marine, as they join a diverse group of recruits. Watching You (Stan, 6 episodes) Watching You centres on thrill-seeking paramedic Lina (Aisha Dee) and the fallout of a single decision which threatens to upend her life. Though apparently happily engaged to Cain (Chai Hansen), a chance encounter with mysterious stranger Dan (Josh Helman) triggers Lina’s desire and culminates in a passionate one-night stand in a WeStay property. In the aftermath, Lina discovers that the affair has been captured by a hidden camera and is blackmailed with the footage. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As an actor it is important to understand every role on a production and how your work intersects with all involved. DOP's are an integral part of the storytelling process as they are responsible for creating the look of the film. Their primary duties include developing a film's visual style, determining lighting and composition and planning camera angles. The conversation will also cover Emma's extensive work locally, how the DOP's process impacts actors' and what we see on screen. This conversation may be particularly useful for actors with a theatre background who are not as familiar with the complexities of screen acting. Audience members will leave with a better understanding of how to work effectively with a DOP on their next job.

Who isn't hoping for a quality partner to build a life with? Someone charming, reliable, with a great personality? But what happens when that sparkling personality is far darker around the edges than you realized? In her tensely thrilling new novel Don't Let Him In, author Lisa Jewell explores the layers of truth and deception unraveling before three women who find themselves tied together by a man who has more secrets than any of them bargained for. Nick Radcliffe seems to have it all – he's a man of substance and good taste, with a smile that could melt the coldest heart and a knack for putting others at ease. He's just what Nina Swann needed in her life after her husband's unexpected death. But Nina's adult daughter Ash has her suspicions. Nick seems too slick, too polished, too good to be true. Without telling her mother, Ash begins digging into Nick's past… and uncovers more than unsettling findings. Meanwhile, Martha is a florist living in a nearby town with her infant daughter and her devoted husband Alistair. It's a lovely little life, until Alistair starts traveling more frequently for work, disappearing for days at a time. Frustrated and looking for answers, Martha plants a tracking device in his car. But nothing could've prepared her for the ride that was to come. Nina, Ash, and Martha soon find themselves on a psychological collision course, hurtling toward a shocking truth far darker than anyone could have imagined. All three women are about to wish they had heeded the same warning: don't let him in. But it's certainly too late for that now – and the past won't stay buried forever. Lisa Jewell is a New York Times best-selling author of twenty-three novels, with work that has been translated into thirty languages. Her writing career has spanned more than twenty years, and she has spent over a decade focused on writing dark psychological thrillers, suspenseful mysteries, and crime fiction. Her previous books include None of This Is True, The Family Upstairs, and Then She Was Gone, as well as Invisible Girl and Watching You. Andrea Dunlop is the author of five novels, including The Mother Next Door: Medicine, Deception, and Munchausen by Proxy, and the host and creator of Nobody Should Believe Me, an award-winning investigative true crime podcast about Munchausen by proxy. Andrea is the founder of Munchausen Support, the nation's only non-profit dedicated to supporting survivors and families affected by MBP, and a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children's MBP committee, where she serves alongside the country's foremost experts. We need to talk about those Mother's Day expectations. Did you get to relax? If you've got young ones, the answer is most likely no. Once again, for Mother's Day Kelly just wants to be dad for a day. But not all was lost, she did get some new Crocs. Unfortunately, Tyler got her two pairs with the instructions to return the ones she didn't want. So her present just made more work.  But speaking of Crocs, talk about a brand that has been able to adapt with changing trends. There are so many brands that haven't been able to do the same. Where are Juicy Couture and Tom's shoes? Speaking of trends, Kelly is predicting that the next big food trend is pistachios.  Lizz needs to talk about the new version of Rodney Atkin's song "Watching You" with his now 23 year old son. Is this what she has to look forward to? It's making her dread the day her sons grow up and start to sing in cursive (which is a thing).  Moving on to some more enjoyable moments in music, Kelly and Lizz are presenting the Model Line-up of kids songs that go hard! These are the ones that you don't turn off when it starts to play and the kids aren't around. Yes, there are a lot of Disney tunes on this list. Who had the better picks - Kelly or Lizz?  George's birthday is quickly approaching and Kelly is giving up her "no birthday parties every year" rule and planning a big bash. Will there be a reptile guy? Yes! But please no gifts... Will anyone actually abide by that rule? Maybe it's time to give up that rule too because not everything is worth having a take on.  In Industry News, the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is on the way and there is a lot to talk about. Plus, why not to freak out about the new car seat standards are nothing to freak out over.  Finally, in Ditch the Drive-Thru a listener sent in a pineapple pork chops recipe that is perfect for summer. And stick around through the end for the Chat GPT hack you're going to want to use tonight!  Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. Episode 140 Chapter 02, Listening to Electronic Music. Works Recommended from my book, Electronic and Experimental Music  Welcome to the Archive of Electronic Music. This is Thom Holmes. This podcast is produced as a companion to my book, Electronic and Experimental Music, published by Routledge. Each of these episodes corresponds to a chapter in the text and an associated list of recommended works, also called Listen in the text. They provide listening examples of vintage electronic works featured in the text. The works themselves can be enjoyed without the book and I hope that they stand as a chronological survey of important works in the history of electronic music. Be sure to tune-in to other episodes of the podcast where we explore a wide range of electronic music in many styles and genres, all drawn from my archive of vintage recordings. Rodney Atkins, a country music legend with six #1 hits, eight top-5 singles, and over 4 billion streams, has been a defining voice for three decades. Known for anthems like “Watching You,” “Take A Back Road,” “Going Through Hell,” and “Farmer's Daughter,” his music is a reflection of his deep values—family, faith, and country living. He's back with a new anthem “True South,” defining even more what he stands for and his strong country roots.  Adopted as an infant, Atkins has embraced the power of unconditional love, channeling his devotion to his sons in songs like “He's Mine.” His journey of self-discovery has shaped both his music and his identity. Since 1996, he's been with Curb Records, staying true to his rural roots in Cumberland Gap while evolving with the times. With a strong social media presence and a passion for storytelling, Atkins remains a voice for America's heartland. Whether through his music, his role as a father, or life on the farm, he continues to celebrate the simple, profound truths of family, faith, and love.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Clicking on individual events will take you to the appropriate web page. Any other business It's been another hectic month here at HPR Towers. As we discussed on the mailing list most of the time was taken by the migration to Mastodon, and the implementation of the mirrors on the Community Content Delivery Network. Some daily stats are been updated on https://hub.hackerpublicradio.org/hpr_ccdn_stats.tsv Summary of the changes to the repo https://repo.anhonesthost.net/HPR Dave updated his tooling for processing shows and they are now available on the Gitea repo. We finally got around to creating the HPR Documentation wiki. Community Content Delivery Network (CCDN) A location to track the deployment of the HPR Community Content Delivery Network, that provides a mirror network for our content. HPR Website Design This is literally in the whiteboard phase of the HPR website redesign. Where we can track Compatibility of the clients subscribed to our feeds. Useful Resources Where we can link to other free culture sites that provide useful services. Requested Topics Where we can track topics that have been requested, and link to shows that addressed them. There is also a list with information about Podcatcher and Podcasting Platform Compatibility. If anyone wants to adopt a player then please do so. The section on Workflow will be changing shortly due to Dave stepping aside, and also the need to distribute to multiple end points. All the processing will happen first, and then all the checks will be done at the same stage just prior to posting. For this to work we need help finding a simple manageable WYSIWYG editor that can produce sane HTML when the host uploads the show. We also need a new system to distribute the files from an origin to all the mirrors. Other changes and fixes. The day of the week is now available on the website. Fixed the RSS feed to show explicit status. Fixed a bug that limited the future feed to just 10 shows. Fixed a typo in the status page. Following feedback, added emphasis about the upcoming two weeks, to the scheduling guidelines. Notable shout out to the people who are promoting HPR and are helping people out with audio issues. Provide feedback on this episode.

In your career, it's important to consider who's watching you. There's a good chance you may be exhibiting behavior that hurts you but you believe that you can get away with it because no one is looking at you, in the moment. You believe that if no one sees it, then it doesn't matter.  That's [...] The post Who's Watching You? appeared first on Ken Okel.

I'm so excited to have my good buddy Brian White on this week's episode of the Stories Behind the Songs podcast! Brian White's career in music has spanned over many decades and many genres - he got his start in Christian and gospel music and toured for about 15 years doing that. He eventually fell in love with the storytelling of country music and has become a true legend here in Music City. Brian not only has plenty of hits to his name, but he's written more than a few country classics as well. Some of my personal favorite cuts of his that we cover in this episode are “Watching You” released by Rodney Atkins, “Blame It On You” by Jason Aldean and “Roll On Mississippi” by Charley Pride. He also has cuts with Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, and Gary Allan and Christian cuts like “Holding Out Hope To You” released by Michael English and “The Promise” by The Martins. In this episode, Brian and I also talk about the difference between CCM and country songwriting, starting out as a youth pastor following God's calling for his life, and, as usual, the stories behind the songs! I've wanted to have Brian on the podcast for a longtime - in a lot of ways, he is a big reason that The Listening Room is where it is today. He was the one who organized the fundraiser in the early days when we were struggling that was a turning point for us and in turn also played a role in inspiring our "Sound Good. Do Good." program that gives back to non-profits every month. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to share it with your friends and give us a follow. It's our mission to share the Stories Behind the Songs and highlight the songwriters behind the stories, and it's because of listeners like YOU that we are able to do it. Today we present the classic of dystopian fiction, George Orwell's hopeless tale of the future, "1984." There are a few curious things about this adaptation, not least of which is the proximity of this broadcast to the release of the book just a few months prior. It's the story of "Big Brother is Watching You", TV screens with no on/off switches, "thought crimes," and "double-think." It was an edgy script for 1949. The star is also remarkable. One of the most undervalued aspects of a community is it's safety. If residents do not feel safe and protected in their community they will not spend money there, they won't leave their homes and eventually will leave the community. Unsafe communities lose businesses, have declining property values, and gain a stigma in the area that is hard to shake. In this episode, Matt and Sam go deep into the life and times of Whittaker Chambers, most famous for his role in the "trial of the century"—the trial of Alger Hiss for perjury after Chambers accused Hiss of being a Communist spy during his years working in the federal government, especially the State Department. The two figures, once friends, came to symbolize a clash that was bigger than themselves, and prefigured the turn American politics would take at the onset of the Cold War. Chambers would become a hero of the nascent postwar conservative movement, with his status as an ex-Communist—one of many who would congregate around National Review in the mid-to-late 1950s—bringing his moral credibility to the right as one who had seen the other side and lived to tell his tale. Before all that, though, Chambers's life was like something out of a novel: a difficult family life, early brilliance at Columbia University, literary achievement in leftwing publications, and years "underground" engaging in espionage for the Soviet Union against the United States. "Out of my weakness and folly (but also out of my strength), I committed the characteristic crimes of my century," writes  Chambers in his 1952 memoir/jeremiad Witness.  Your hosts break it all down, assess his crimes and contributions, and explore one of the most consequential American lives of the twentieth century.  Sources:Sam Tanenhaus, Whittaker Chambers: A Biography (1997)Whittaker Chambers, Witness (1952)Whittaker Chambers, Cold Friday (1964)Whittaker Chambers, "Big Sister is Watching You," National Review, December 28, 1957The Whittaker Chambers Reader: His Complete National ReviewWritings, 1957-1959 (2014)William F.
