Happy Opening Day to all who celebrate! It's the final episode of 2022 as Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor get ready for Christmas right here on the KOGpod!On this episode #107:- The Kansas State Wildcats are Big 12 champs after beating TCU in an instant classic in overtime.  The Wildcats are now headed to the Sugar Bowl where they will take on Alabama.  The guys discuss the future of the program and if expectations for national championships for Chris Klieman's program are now appropriate moving forward.- The Kansas Jayhawks football squad are heading to the Liberty Bowl where they will take on Arkansas.  Blake and Tommy discuss the Jayhawks in a bowl game for the first time in 15 years and the solid footing that this program is on now.- Shocker basketball sits at 4-4 after back to back losses (Missouri in overtime and Kansas State by 5).  The Shockers are playing good defense but are having trouble scoring.  The guys talk about adjustments that Isaac Brown could make to help the Shockers win these games moving into conference play.- The Kansas City Chiefs drop another game to the Cincinnati Bengals and fall to 9-3.  The Chiefs lose home field advantage with the loss and their defense really struggled in the loss.  The guys discuss long term concerns defensively for this squad and what they need to do moving forward to bounce back.- Our Wichita Whiparound has an update on new ownership for the Wichita Wind Surge & more!Thanks for listening! It's the Sports Equinox as we get close to Thanksgiving and so much to get to on this brand new episode of the KOGpod with Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor!On this episode #106:- Kansas basketball plays in the Champions Classic in Indy vs. Duke.  At the time of recording, the game had not started yet, so we don't have the results, but Blake and Tommy talk about the talent on this team, plus what sort of things you can glean from the matchup with the #7 Blue Devils.- The Kansas Jayhawks football are now bowl eligible after defeating Oklahoma State 37-16.  The Hawks fall to Texas Tech in Lubbock, but are assured a bowl game for the first time in 15 years and assured a non-losing season in Year 2 of the Lance Leipold Era.  Blake and Tommy talk about the turnaround and where this team stands at the QB position with Jalon Daniels potentially returning and what things need to be shored up if this team wants to get to a winning season.- The Kansas State Wildcats are firmly in the driver's seat to play in the Big 12 Championship game against TCU.  After falling to Texas at home, the Wildcats rebound in Waco with a 31-3 drubbing of Baylor.  The Wildcats defense is elite and the guys discuss how lockdown K-State's defense can be, and what it means to this team to more than likely have QB Will Howard lead the team the rest of the way.- The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in the #1 seed spot in the AFC after beating Tennessee and Jacksonville in consecutive weeks, while Buffalo loses two in a row.  Blake and Tommy discuss the lack of production from former first round pick RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, plus what they have seen on both sides of the ball for KC, as they prepare for another primetime matchup, this time against the Chargers on Sunday Night Football.- Trouble is brewing for the Wichita State Shockers basketball squad after dropping a buy game over the weekend to Alcorn State.  Blake and Tommy break down everything that went wrong for Wichita State and if this program is at a crossroads with head coach Isaac Brown and the entire fanbase.- Our Wichita Whiparound has an update on Wichita Thunder hockey and KCAC football in the playoffs.- Our A's C's and R's segment is all about the Royals announcing plans for a new downtown stadium, plus state high school football and Newman University men's basketball.Thanks for listening! ROCK CHALK CHAMPIONSHIP! Keeper of the Games is back, this time on the road to March Madness! Welcome to the KOGpod, with Blake Cripps and Tommy Castor!!On this episode #91:- The Wichita State Shockers went up against #14 Houston over the weekend and put up a valiant effort, but ultimately fell in overtime by 2 points.  Blake and Tommy discuss what could have been for WSU and since the Shockers seem destined to miss the NCAA Tourney (barring an American tournament championship), what went wrong and what needs to be addressed in the offseason by Isaac Brown and his staff.- The Sunflower Showdown part Deux took place Tuesday night inside Allen Fieldhouse as Kansas took down Kansas State with ease 102-83.  Blake and Tommy discuss the speed in which the Jayhawks played that game and if that can translate to a potential deep March Madness run.  Also, with that loss, KSU falls to 6-9 in the Big 12, but had they picked up a win last weekend against Oklahoma State, they very well could have been in the driver's seat for an NCAA tourney bid.  Now, things look to be much more difficult for the Wildcats to get in.- The Wichita Thunder are the hottest hockey team in the ECHL.  The team, which suffered through a long losing streak spanning parts of December and January, have battled back to .500.  Blake and Tommy discuss what happened for the Thunder to get back into the playoff hunt and some of the key members of the team that have contributed to this turnaround.- Our Wichita Whiparound gives an update on League 42 partnership with the Orpheum Theatre to show the movie 42, and Blake gives an update on Newman University baseball.- To wrap up the program, in our A's C's and R's segment, we update the latest on the Chiefs off-season moves, including the release of linebacker Anthony Hitchens.Thanks for listening! (04:07) The dream season has come to a close for Wichita State Shocker softball, falling in the Norman regional over the weekend. WSU swept Texas A&M and gave the Sooners all they wanted in the first matchup, but the elimination game was too much for the Shockers. Still, an incredible year for the Shockers and one they should be proud of. Also, Shocker baseball ended the regular season taking 3 of 4 from Memphis and get a #3 seed in the AAC tournament, kicking off on Tuesday. (52:36) All may not be lost for the Kansas City Royals. After dropping 2 of 3 against the White Sox, the Royals have won 5 of 6, including sweeping Milwaukee and taking 3 of 4 from Detroit. What is to make of the Royals ballclub?
