Good morning, goblins and ghouls, and welcome to my Haunted Life podcast. I'm your host, Angela Hartshorn, and this week we have a spooky snippet. I found this really insane freaking story out of Fort Smith when I was doing the Fort Smith Museum of History and the National Historic Site, which is coming up next week. So I wanted to share this with with you. It's a bit brutal. Heads up. This newspaper article I found is a bit graphic. Murder, decapitation, that kind of thing. Before I get into it, I just want to remind everyone that you can still register for the It's Coming virtual premiere. I am so excited. I have my tickets to New York. I can talk all about it now. I've been going through the little video clips that Tanya has sent me from the Witch Daily show, the one that I'm like, been invited out to help her with this. I'm so excited. And honestly, these clips, you guys. I will be sharing them over the next little bit, so keep an eye out for that. But yeah, like, this poor family and this... I have not seen the movie yet. I want to see the whole thing so much. So if you haven't been following on the Facebook group, I got invited out to help do this Q&A virtual premiere with my friend Tonya from the Witch Daily show of It's Coming, which is this documentary about a family who's basically plagued with demons. Demons. And from the clips, it looks like how they tried to go and get cleansing and how the family is dealing with it, especially the children. Anytime there's demonic activity in children, it's always so heart-wrenching. So if you haven't registered yet, make sure you do so. So you'll be able to ask questions and some of them might actually be said to the family. They might appear on the podcast because both me and Tonya will be recording it. So there will be that possibility. So yeah, definitely make sure you register. All the links are in on the Facebook page, but I'll also include them in the actual show notes for this one too. So there's no missing it. Yeah, make sure you do that. I guess that's my one housekeeping. I know we don't usually do housekeeping on spooky snippets, but I want to make sure as many of you can get involved as possible. Welcome back to My Haunted Life podcast! I'm your host, Angela Hartshorn, and today we dive into a spine-chilling tale shared by a dear friend. This story involves a mysterious family heirloom, unexplained noises, and eerie occurrences that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Trigger warning: we do discuss infant death in this episode, so please listen with care. In this episode, my friend recounts an unsettling experience his mother had with a seemingly haunted piece of infant clothing. Passed down through generations, this layette was meant for the firstborns of the family. However, it carried with it more than just family tradition—it brought along whispers of a tragic past and unexplained phenomena. From thuds in the night to high-pitched metallic screeches, this story unravels with twists and turns that make it worthy of a horror film. You'll hear about how this layette mysteriously moved around the house, causing a series of frightful events that led to a dramatic conclusion. Was it a spirit attached to the layette, or something even more sinister? So grab your favorite fall drink, lock the doors, and settle in for a haunting story that will make you question the presence of unseen forces in your own life.

On this week's episode I'm telling you the harrowing tale of Alice Crawford Snow. There's a pretty good chance you have never heard of her. Now if you are from the same area of Colorado as I am, you have probably heard of her sister, Emma Crawford, the namesake of the Manitou Springs Coffin Races. Alice was your classic Victorian spiritualist with her own spooky story that almost took her life. And we are talking about the theories behind the mystery, spiritual delusion, suicide attempt, or demonic possession. Now there was so much going on here that I decided to make two podcasts! On this week's episode I am starting a series of stories that are great to listen to around the campfire starting with a heavy hitter, the famous ghosts of the Pine Barrens in New Jersey. There is one very famous inhabitant of the Pine Barrens, but I was surprised by how many other famous ghost stories are littered about. Of course, the most famous inhabitant is the Jersey Devil, who sightings are still reported of today. And a lot of these stories are really well documented! I found so much that this became a pretty long episode. But it's all so good. So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, make sure the doors are locked, and the sage is close by. On this week's episode we are delving deep into the Columbia River in search of the legendary Colossal Claude, a mysterious sea serpent reported several times near Astoria. Here's the thing about the Pacific Northwest. There are a lot of sea serpents so we are going to examine the history of sightings of Claude, some of his closest neighbors, what he could be, and possibly even a new friend. On this week's episode we are examining the glorious, haunted houses of the Flavel family. One haunted by spirits and the other haunted by the last generation of the family, one member of which became known as Hatchet Harry. This is the story of family secrets and a mystery that endured for decades. There's a lot of twists and turns in this one. So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, make sure the doors are locked, and the hatchet is close by. I have a story to tell you. This week we are moving out of Portland and up the coast to Astoria, Oregon, a sleepy little town directly on the Columbia River that has the cutest population of very loud sea lions. It's tucked up in a valley that leads right down to the waterfront where you can watch big freighter ships and little lead boats going up and down. As we drove into town we hit a pretty crazy rainstorm that apparently flooded out a lot of places in town but otherwise it was very calm, off and on sunny and then foggy. It was kinda hard to believe that we were right in the midst of the Graveyard of the Pacific. According to the Columbia River Maritime Museum, “Since 1792 approximately 2000 vessels, including over 200 large ships, have sunk at the Columbia River Bar. More than 700 people have lost their lives to the sea. Mariners agree that the combination of high seas, a mighty river, land shallow, and shifting sand bars make the Columbia River bar one of the most dangerous bar crossings in the world.” Considering the stories from the museum I don't want to see it at it's worse. That's kinda the backdrop to this week's stories. On this week's episode I'm taking you ghost hunting at the infamous Witch's House in Portland. I didn't think I would actually find so much on the history on this one but I found a treasure trove. Most of the hauntings appear to revolve around one horrible murder, which I found newspaper stories recounting the tale in graphic detail. I have had so many of you ask me if I got to go to this place after the Top 10 Haunted Bathrooms episode and I finally did. I loved this place. I didn't get much in the way of ghost hunting down with the storms and random people around but there's a little bit. Also I think this video will be one of the longest ones on Youtube and Patreon because we just kept getting more and more footage of this place because it was just so pretty and surreal. On this week's episode I'm taking you to one of our favorite places in all of Portland, Kell's Irish Restaurant and Pub. When Portland Oddities & Curiosities Expo rolls around in the fall you will find us there at least one of the nights we are town. We love the food, drinks, and atmosphere, the ghosts are honestly a bonus. This place is connected to the Shanghai Tunnels so you know it's spiritually busy. But the best known ghost has nothing to do with the tunnels and might actually not have anything to do with Kell's. So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, maybe something with roses, make sure the doors are locked, and the sage is close by. I have a story to tell you. On this week's episode, I'm going to tell you the history and hauntings of the Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon. I figured we needed a sweet story for Valentine's Day. I also wanted a break from the darkness of the shanghai tunnels. I was lucky enough to visit the beautiful Pittock Mansion while we were out there with the Oddities and Curiosities Expo last year. I was not prepared for how gorgeous this place was. It is tucked up on this incredibly tall hill that just weaves through this extra green and dense rainforest. When you get to the top of the hill the house just emerges from these trees quite suddenly. The house itself is a beige gray with red roofs and from the back it looks like a fortress almost. If you go to the front of the house get roses and a view of Mt. Hood and the Portland skyline to die for. Oh and the interior! Well we will talk about that a little bit later. So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, maybe something with roses, make sure the doors are locked, and the sage is close by. I have a story to tell you. On this week's episode we are going dark and discussing a heavy hitter in the paranormal community, the infamous Shanghai Tunnels of Portland. Trigger warning. It's real dark. Name a bad thing and it will probably be mentioned today. Human trafficking, sexual assault, drugging, murder, cannibalism, racism. Yeah there's a lot today. I discovered in my travels in the PWN that there are actually Shanghai Tunnels in Portland, Astoria, and Seattle. I thought this was fascinating! But the Portland ones are probably the most famous amongst paranormal enthusiasts because they have been seen on every ghost show basically ever. There is a lot of history to get through, don't worry it's very dark and gruesome. I was so upset when I didn't get to go the first time I was in Portland so I made sure to go this time, and I'll probably go again this year too! I even had a ghostly experience that I'll tell you all about at the end. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/myhauntedlife/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/myhauntedlife/support
On this week's episode I have my darling friend Bekah from Raven's Dark Dolls. She is an artist that takes old dolls and puts a spooky twist on them. On this week's episode we are delving into the history of one of the most famous haunted dolls in the world, Robert the Doll. This one has always given me the heebee jeebees. Maybe because it's relatable. Robert has been to blame for people losing their jobs, relationships, deaths, and all sorts of mishaps. He has gained celebrity status from his little home at the Fort East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida where he receives 100s of visitors, letters, candy, and other presents a year. Many believe that he is the inspiration for the Chucky franchise. But what/who is Robert? What haunts Robert the Doll? Has he come to life because of the love of an obsessive child or is he a demon? There's so much to this one. So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, make sure the doors are locked and the sage is close by. On this week's podcast, we are finishing up our tour of the Texas with an out of the world stop. We went to go see Ned the Alien's grave and wandered around Aurora, Texas! For the UFO enthusiasts out there, this was like Roswell before Roswell. As the story goes in 1987, a ufo crashed on Judge Proctor's land. The most sensational part of the story is they recovered the pilot, described as Martian looking, and gave him a proper Christian burial in the local cemetery. But the mystery and controversy over Ned just keeps on growing, long after it's death. Of course the easiest thing to do is dig them up and do some DNA testing but the debate over exhumation continues. UFO researchers have been even met in the cemetery by locals with guns protecting their Ned. The story is awesome. So lets get into shall we? Hello goblins and ghouls and welcome to another episode of my haunted life podcast, with me, your host, Angela Hartshorn. How is everyone doing this week? On this week's episode, we are continuing our adventures in Texas with my buddy Rayne and this time we are going to the infamous Goatman's Bridge. This is an incredibly sad and dark story, full of racism, demons, and even child murder so be prepared for that. I feel like the story of Goatman's Bridge has exploded in popularity in recent years and it seems like every ghost show or youtuber or podcaster has done an episode on it, so here's ours! I'm curious, who guessed it from my incredibly difficult clues? Be honest! Anyway! So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, make sure the doors are locked and the sage is close by. On this week's episode, I'm taking you to the Screaming Bridge in Arlington, Texas, a creepy out of the way spot known to the locals as a place to hear disembodied screams from long dead teenagers who died on the road. Local legend states that some kids were out celebrating a football game win one night when they collided with each on the bridge. This seemed reasonable enough for me since football, especially high school football, you know, all of that Friday Night light stuff, is a big deal down in Texas. Apparently the area is now imprinted with the kids dying screams and legend has it that if you stare into the river where the car went in at midnight you can see the graves of those killed. This was all I knew about it going into this adventure. I'm doing something a little different this time. This time I'm going to be giving you the history, and then as an extra special treat, I will have the one and only Rayne on to discuss our adventures. I even have a little bit of video to share on the website. So lets get into shall we? Grab yourself a cup of tea, make sure the doors are locked and the sage is close by. On this week's podcast I am telling you about ghost pirates. As you should all know by now I'm a giant nerd and one of my newest obsessions is Our Flag Means Death on HBO starring Rhys Darby, who I would leave my husband for, and Taika Waitka as the pirates Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard. Some people might not realize that these were real guys! I feel like everyone has heard of Blackbeard from the 5 million pop culture references out there like Ian McShane in the Pirate of the Caribbean franchise and apparently Hugh Jackman in Pan. I need to go watch that apparently. Bonnet is less well known. Growing up I had a pirate phase, I mean who didn't, and I remember reading about the Gentleman Pirate. He wasn't my favorite. I kinda lumped him with the likes of Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye and the classic poor little rich kid archetype and I honestly hadn't thought much about him since. And then I found out Rhys Darby was in a pirate show and I needed it in my life more than anything. Our Flag Means Death puts a comedic and romantic spin on Bonnet and Blackbeard's relationship that made me care a little too much about these characters. And as I'm watching the show I couldn't help but wonder if there's ghost stories associated with them and of course there is! So I did some digging and honestly Bonnet might be one of my favorite pirates now! That being said, what happens to these guys is pretty rough so maybe prepare yourself for that. I actually teared up researching this one. So lets get into shall we? Ok so this week's episode was suppose to come out 2 weeks ago but that's when the death happened so it's happening now. This week I'm talking to the wonderful Candace Ó Fearáin-Black of the Julian Black's Arcane Vampire Ball. We are talking about a Colorado vampire legend. Candy has told me this story before but this is the first time we really got to dig into it. And since its semi local we are planning on going to investigate it soon. For those in the area you might know that the Arcane Vampire Ball has already happened. In fact, Candy and I talk about it alot in this episode. I heard it was a really great event. I highly recommend you all come out next year. Julian is hosting the The Colorado Springs Vampire Soiree this weekend. This Saturday. Definitely check that out if you can. On this week's episode I am finishing off the Salem episodes with a little trip to Old Burying Point Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Salem and the second oldest cemetery in the nation. This is the quintessential colonial cemetery, 400 year old hand carved tombstones, big leafy trees creating long shadows and whose old roots are starting to push tombstones over. On this week's episode we are continuing the Salem episodes with The Ropes Mansion. It is a gorgeous, two storied, white colonial mansion with cute little gabled windows. Its close to downtown Salem at 318 Essex Street. The Ropes Mansion housed 4 generations of Ropes family members that lived and died within it's walls. It saw happiness and a lot of tragedy, which makes sense why it's one of Salem's most haunted house, and it's not even connected to the Salem Witch Trials. It might look incredibly familiar to those that are fans of the disney cult classic, Hocus Pocus. The Ropes Mansion exterior was used as Allsion's house. Remember the part when Max and Dani are trick or treating and they get into a fight and she goes and cries in the hay bale and Max has to make her feel better and they are in front of that gorgeous home, yep that one. For this week's episode I'm doing what is known as "the most haunted night club in America,” Bobby Mackey's Music World in Wilder, Kentucky. I feel like this one is a two for one special. Not only is there a tale of love gone wrong that there are two! One is the unfortunate story of Pearl Bryan, whose story rivaled the murder of Lizzie Borden's parents in media attention which happened only four years earlier and competed for the dubious distinction of “Crime of the Century.” The second story is that of Johanna and her rose perfume and how her story transcends time.
