Hvad kan beder, hvidløg og gulerødder dyrket midt i Roskilde Festival? Mød Nanna Hjortkjær Jespersen, gartner i GROW Langkærhave i Roskilde og på Østergro i København. Hun fortæller om grøntsager, byhaven og arbejdet med at dyrke forbindelsen mellem mennesker, jord og grøntsager. Tag med tilbage til Roskilde Festival 2025, hvor Madland på Food is Now dedikerede en hel dags program til temaet lokale, resiliente madsystemer. Vi inviterede en håndfuld seje frontløbere på scenen for at tale om deres virke som madsystembrydere. Med sig har Nanna en trillebør fuld af friskhøstede øgrøntsager fra haven. GROW Langkærhave blev stiftet i 2024 af Roskilde Festival Gruppen og af holdet bag Østergro. Her var haven bl.a. omdrejningspunkt i Madlands samarbejde med Roskilde Festival og Østergro om at styrke lokale madsystemer i og rundt om Roskild. I dag fungerer haven som læringsrum og lokalt samlingspunkt både for festivalgæster og resten af året for roskildensere. I sin lægepraksis på Nørrebro oplevede Anders Beich, at der oftere og oftere kom patienter, som havde mere brug for samtaleterapi, end for en læge. Samtidig er der langt mellem lægerne i de områder af Danmark, hvor de allersygeste danskere bor. Det var først, da han selv sad over for patienter i udkantsdanmark, der havde flere kroniske sygdomme som gigt og KOL og kræftdiagnoser i journalen, at han forstod den ulighed i sundhedsvæsenet, som regeringen, med en sundhedsreform, nu vil tage endeligt livtag med. Our Flag Means Death is loosely based on the true story of Stede Bonnet, who was called the “Gentleman Pirate.” He was born to a wealthy English family in Barbados and in 1717 he decided to become a pirate. He did meet Captain Blackbeard whose real name was Edward Teach in the Bahamas. And they did team up to pillage and plunder other ships along the eastern coast of the U.S. Whether he had a romantic relationship with Blackbeard or not is uncertain.David Jenkins, the creator, said that pirates weren't really his “bag” but the idea of someone in what he called “existential freefall” like Stede Bonnet was fascinating to him. The fact that Stede was a wealthy landowner in an unhappy marriage who just wanted to leave it all was really appealing. About it being a love story, Jenkins said, “It's show about falling in love more than it's a show about people's reaction to gayness in that era.” And he added that so often, shows about gay romance are really about gay trauma. Mariah says, “Being vulnerable and authentic is something that we don't do enough of and B2B marketing in general. We don't humanize our companies. I'm in the AI space, and it's all these super high tech terms. We can talk about productivity and all this stuff, but really we're speaking to human beings. And so I think that that ability to be vulnerable and really speak to people is something that we can learn from this show.” Our Flag Means Death shows the vulnerable side of their male characters, which you would have never seen in something like Treasure Island, which was all swashbuckling machismo. In this show, the crew read each other stories and are encouraged to talk about their feelings. We're back on the high seas with all of the (gay) pirates, who have now been traumatized thanks to Blackbeard and Stede. But at least they're back together again. Good for them! Anyway, we're not talking about them this time, they had their moment and they're not any less insane. This time around we're talking about Izzy, Jim and Buttons. The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe the life and times and afterlife and after times of legendary Gentleman Pirate, Stede Bonnet. Stede is kind of renowned in the 2020's as having been a bit of a cr*p pirate, but was Stede really that bad? We'll find out for in this episode we will probe all that Stede got up to from his early life to Stede's marriage, possible difficulties that Stede had going on as outlined by North Carolina Maritime Museum archaeologist David Moore and that nagging feeling that Stede had. The call of the seas, if you will. Stede would answer that call and we have lots of records of the booty-looting Stede got up to from that point onwards. Along the way, as we've covered before, Stede got a little help from his friends. Well, an allegedly true friend, if you will (again). A black bearded friend, if you will, will, will (again, again). But when the heat would be on, the fleet would be gone for that friend had a cunning plan. Stede does not appear to have been party to that plan. But what happened to Stede after that? Stede held a grudge and revenge prospers no person it would appear because two shakes of a Stede later, Stede would be begging for his own life. There may also have been a cunning escape somewhere along the line and this one was the stuff of movies. Ultimately though, Stede would succumb to a grizzly death and be left to roam the world… All that and more on this week's file.
