Welcome to an engrossing episode of 'My Haunted Life' podcast with Angela Hartshorn. This episode will take you through Angela's spine-tingling experiences at Hotel Park Central in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The hotel, once a railway hospital and later, a psychiatric facility for children and teens, bears an uncanny past despite its luxurious refurbishments. Tune in as Angela shares eerie tales and ghost sightings in this haunted hotspot. Experience goosebumps as Angela, equipped with a razor-sharp sixth sense, recalls her unsettling feelings of being watched during her stay at the hotel. The suspense deepens as she reveals how her intuition linked her with past reports of guests encountering similar paranormal phenomena. This journey doesn't stop at mere experiences, she delves deeper into the building's histories, even tackling theories about the resident lady-ghost haunting the premises. This podcast episode takes you on a chilling journey, encompassing the detailed findings of Los Muertos Spirit Seekers, a local paranormal group. Listen in on the unexplained whispers heard in the dead of the night, the chilling presence of a female apparition, and mysterious scratches. Despite the denial by the hotel management, the tales of inexplicable occurrences continue to thrive. Angela's riveting narrative will grip your attention, blurring the line between the past and the present as she journeys into the world of unexplained phenomena powered by the flashlight technique, described as a gateway for communicating with the supernatural. Despite its transformation into a vibrant hotel, Hotel Park Central's eerie past still lingers, making it an attractive destination for those daring enough to expose themselves to the supernatural.

Is that the best use? Will it be a great way to show off the city? 06:32 - We wax nostalgic about Olga's, who abruptly closed their Westland location after more than 40 years. Norris had just visited, because it's one of the few places that has vegan and gluten free options.  12:55 - What's up with all these early dinner reservation? The "introvert economy" that has swept across America, says Bloomberg. We just are going out less. A Clare Independent TD claims Miltown Malbay lacks the sufficient resources to keep Asylum Seekers occupied into the winter months. It follows confirmation that the Central Hotel is to provide emergency accommodation for up to 42 single male International Protection Applicants. A twelve month contract will be offered to the provider, however, the Department if integration's briefing document states it's not possible to determine the length of stay, due to the high number of IPA arrivals nationally and the scarcity of relative accommodation. Kilrush Deputy, Violet Anne Wynne has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan she believes the government are deliberately peddling a 'sympathetic line' to appease rural communities.

The lack of a train connection to the main markets that were growing on Puget Sound to the south often stymied Port Townsend's expansion. It endured years of population decline and economic stagnation before the opening of a paper mill in 1928 helped to stabilize the economy. The city grew steadily over the next few decades, eventually blossoming as a tourist destination known for its natural surroundings, marine charm, and numerous well-preserved late Victorian homes and buildings. In 1977, the Port Townsend Historic Landmark District was created, making it one of only three Victorian-era seaports left in the nation.Listen now to learn more!-Episode cover features an undated photograph of the Port Townsend business district. When British Captain George Vancouver established Port Townsend (formerly "Townshend") Bay in 1792, the area was principally held by members of the Klallam (or S'Klallam) Tribe, who called the site Kah Tai. They spent the winters in vast communal cedar pole-and-plank dwellings along the seashore, and the summers fishing, hunting, foraging, and trading in smaller family groups.Diseases introduced by sea-borne Spanish and British explorers struck the Northwest's shore-dwelling Indians first. They were infected with smallpox, measles, diphtheria, and other infections that can no longer be identified with confidence starting in the late eighteenth century. These epidemics struck in waves and lasted decades.Listen now to learn more about the City of Dreams.-Episode cover features an undated photograph of the Port Townsend business district, looking down Taylor Street toward the water, with the Central Hotel and Zee Tai Co. visible. On this date in 1905, fire destroyed the Grand Central Hotel in Valley City. It was believed to have started in the heating system, though the owner of the hotel, Pat McNulty, couldn't determine the source as smoke began to fill the building. For several hours the smoke continued to build, then finally the place erupted into flames around 2pm. The newspaper said the blaze “proved a very hard proposition for the [fire] department to handle,” as the smoke was just too dense. It also affected a connected novelty store. At one point the firemen thought they had the fire under control, but it broke out again, stopping only after destroying seventy-five feet of property along Main Street, causing thousands of dollars of damage.

Hello Universe and galaxies beyond,It's weird to put out a podcast during this strange time. I am very aware that many of us are feeling worried and anxious. Businesses are at stake, our routines have been interrupted and long held plans have had to be rearranged. I am feeling it all with you. It really is a matter of life or death at the moment and of course it is silly putting these podcasts out into the world. I do so knowing that people's plates are already full and that you may feel overwhelmed but hope you can use this episode as a distraction for forty minutes or so. With all that said, let me tell you about this week's guest. This week I am 80% happy for Mairead Ronan, Today FM and TV broadcaster, business owner, Dancing with the Stars winner and lots more besides. We had a great chat outside the loo of Central Hotel on Exchequer St a few weeks ago and then we retired to a nearby room where a book club was taking place. I am truly an ace podcaster. Why did I not book a studio? Indeed. Indeed. At one point, if you listen closely, you can probably hear a loo flushing which is NO reflection on my career thank you very much!I've spoken to Mairead many times remotely over the years during her time as producer on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show so it was great to have a chat with her face to face finally. We talked about how she started out studying in Ballyfermot College, got work experience in MTV and Today FM and then didn't leave for 15 years. She took some time away from Marconi House (Today FM's building) for couple of years to focus on other things (including winning Dancing with the Stars) but returned in 2019 to present her own weekday show.I think this is a great episode if you're thinking of trying something new but have the fear. It's never too late to try something new so make a plan, start small and don't wait for anyone else's permission. It may never come! Don't waste your precious time - just make sure you wash your hands thoroughly ; )If you enjoyed this episode, please x1,000,000 go and leave a review on iTunes. It really helps the podcast move up the charts and you do want to help Esther out don't you? Actor and activist Edward James Olmos has created a string of iconic roles over the past 45 years, including in 'Battlestar Galactica,' 'Zoot Suit,' 'Bladerunner,' 'Miami Vice,' and 'Stand and Deliver.' My partner Andrea Vaucher and I caught up with Olmos last month at the Panama International Film Festival, at festival headquarters in the Central Hotel in the Casco Viejo, the oldest area of 500-year-old Panama City, Panama. Olmos at the festival for a 30th anniversary screening of 'Stand and Deliver,' the biopic about East Los Angeles high school math teacher Jaime Escalante. His portrayal of Escalante brought Olmos his first Academy Award nomination, though, as Olmos tells it, cobbling together the funds to get "Stand" made was one of the more unusual film finance stories ever. Olmos also introduced the festival's closing-night film, 'The Sentence,' a documentary about controversial drug-conspiracy laws in the United States. He also talked about why 'Battlestar Galactica' remains important, a decade after its last episode, as it dealt with some of the most meaningful issues ever in a television show. Other topics include what it was like growing up in wildly diverse East L.A. after WWII, how Olmos tried, repeatedly, to turn down the role of Lt. Castillo in 'Miami Vice.' and why he takes on roles to make a difference in his own growth and that of his community. Give a listen. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/davidlbloom/support
