In this delightfully eerie second installment in our funeral home adventures, we creak open the doors of two former houses of mourning that are now anything but lifeless. First, we take a spine-tingling stroll through the Bell Mansion in Fort Wayne, Indiana—a towering tribute to Victorian opulence and spectral sightings where children's laughter echo in the halls and a mysterious woman in jeans is said to roam. Then, we cross the border to Dresden, Ontario, where the Thomas L. DeBurger Funeral Home has found new life (and possibly some lingering spirits) as the Blumberg family's residence, featured in the Discovery+ series We Bought A Funeral Home. Expect phantom whispers, flickering lights, and a spectral Lady in Blue. Death may have moved out, but something spooky still lingers in the halls of these buildings.Bell Mansion websiteScare X on YoutubeA Grave Undertaking: Adventures in a Haunted Funeral Home by Richard EstepYou can stream We Bought a Funeral Home on Discovery+, HBO Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HuluYou can also use this link to text us your story :)If you have an experience, story, or anything else you'd like to share with us, you can email us at Opeaghost@gmail.com You can also follow us on Instagram, Join our Facebook group : Ope, A Ghost, or Follow us on YoutubeToodles!

Sarah had a run-in at Home Depot where she was offered free plants, and she said no! And now she has regrets for being so honest and having integrity. Susie gives a tribute to her beloved Brian Wilson. We find out why Amelia Earhart wasn't actually a great pilot (seems like the disappearance should've tipped us off), but instead was just ahead of her time in...influencing. Susie explains how Amelia's famous flight has disturbing similarities to the Titan submersible tragedy. We learn about a woman who donated her body to science, but ended up blown to bits by the military. We hear why a funeral home was sending people remains of the strangers instead of their loved ones. We discuss an Olympian who has been kicked off the canoeing team for having an OnlyFans account and Susie thinks she should start an account for people whose kink is being insulted. Our Favorite Picks10:37 - Susie shares her love for the amazing Brian Wilson.18:58 - New Yorker article about Amelia Earhart30:11 - Man donated his mother's body to alzheimer's research, only to find out it was later sold on, and blown up!39:13 - Sarah's airfryer analogy45:15 - Olympic canoer pays for training by showing off his skin-paddle on Only Fans50:13 - Gen-Z and their dislike for opening a tab at the bar54:24 - Susie considers starting an Only Fans accountThe End... The Blob (1958) & The Blob (1988) Continuing our theme of taking a deep dive into an original film and its remake, this time we're looking at a pair with exactly 30 years between them: The Blob, from 1958, and its 1988 remake. A lot had changed in those three decades, especially on the technical side, with advancements in special makeup effects definitely upping the ante on what we see on screen. But the remake also retains much of the same small-town feel and trappings of the original. With these two entries, it's interesting to see the similarities just as much as how the remake plays out as its own creature; sometimes winking at the original, but ultimately leaving its own gelatinous footprint. For those out there that love to hate on remakes, here's yet another pair that break the mold and had given us two entertaining entries. Sit back and enjoy! Films mentioned in this episode: 4-D Man (1959), Beware! The Blob (1972), The Beyond (1981), The Blob (1958), The Blob (1988), The Brood (1979), Dark Star (1974), Daughter of Horror (1955), Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Dinosaurus! (1960), Equinox (1970), Eraserhead (1977), Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), The Fly (1986), Forbidden Planet (1956), Fright Night 2 (1988), Funeral Home (1980), Giant Gilla Monster (1959), Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959), The Horror at Party Beach (1964), I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (1957), I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957), Jaws (1975), Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Master of Horror (1965), Nightbreed (1990), Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), Return of the Living Dead (1985), Robocop (1987), Rock Rock Rock! (1956), Scanners (1981), Schlock (1973), Scream (1996), Them (1955), The Thing (1982), Videodrome (1983)

This week we jumped into another 80s style slasher classic with "Funeral Home." Alternate title "Cries in the Night" and we'll discuss all that today too. The story centers around Heather, who is visiting her grandmother to help get her Bed and Breakfast business off the ground. You see, Grandma and Grandpa used to run the community's funeral home. But when Grandpa disappeared, Grandma was forced to turn it into a B&B to make ends meet. While Heather is there to help, some of the guests start to go missing. But deputy sheriff Joe Yates is on the case, in some of the most competent police work we've ever seen in a cheesy slasher movie.Follow us on Instagram @SlashU_PodcastEmail us at SlashUPodcast@gmail.comCheck out the Facebook page too: SlashU PodcastClick any of the Amazon links at SlashUPodcast.com to support the showThanks to ZapSplat.com for our Sound FX Hosted on Acast.
