EPISODE 200! Wow. You might be looking at your phone and saying "hey it doesn't SAY episode 200". That's because a few weeks I shared another person's show on the feed so I could take a break. Take my word for it, it's episode 200. Ok, so that's the end of the show, right? Wrong! That's at 200 movies covered, not 200 episodes. There are 12 LEFT INCLUDING THIS ONE. Could I have made this any more confusing? probably not! That said, I am thrilled to welcome my mother to the show, she has been a huge supporter of the show since it's inception and I'm glad we made it this far so both my folks could talk about their pick for the best horror movie ever made. Merry Christmas!! Hey, can you pick me and Reegs up from the airport? We just flew in from HELLAX and boy are our arms tired. Luckily the in-flight entertainment was this week's best horror movie ever made, Constantine (2005)! Sadly my "producer" and dear friend Stevie the cat has passed away, and this was recorded a few days before that happened. I was trying to just keep things on schedule since there wasn't much I could do but her illness was definitely on my mind, so I apologize for any moments that seem a little distracted.
Did you do your best this year? Too late now... 'cause Santa's here. This week: a very special Plutember begins! It's all George picks, all month long, and first up - the gang's all here for Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)! This is one of my favorites, a seasonal classic and a perfect exploitation movie in my opinion. It's a genuinely compelling movie, and I forgot to talk about it in the episode but I think its kind of a bummer how much of the conversation Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 takes up. Sure "Garbage Day!" is funny and there's some goofy eyebrow acting in the back half but the "highlight reel" style of the first half completely destroys the pacing of this movie, which is what makes it so unique! The slow unfolding of the story is so integral to it. All this to say, Silent Night, Deadly Night is the best horror movie ever made, so listen to Reegs, JP and I break down exactly why that is! PLUS: Constantine as the last main feed episode of the year, and George Romero's The Amusement Park as the December patreon spotlight! Really great stuff that I'm excited to talk about. PLUS PLUS: the livestream schedule is shaping up! Our trivia tournament is set, and our planned live commentaries guests include the Drop King Robert Persinger and the Spoonman himself, Mike Mitchell! This is an organization here in Philadelphia helping people get back on their feet, and I encourage you all to donate as well, or find a similar cause near you to support - it's a hard world out there, and plenty of people are fighting to make it harder. ----more---- PLUS: Check out the BLHHiP Patreon to get early access to episodes, bonus episodes, discord access and more!
