Baseball season has returned, and Jack is back for his 2025 Major League Baseball season preview. Jack welcomes Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles High-A affiliate) play-by-play broadcaster Michael Marcantonini back to the show, for a comprehensive look at all six divisions. Mike and Jack kick things off with the AL East, a division Mike is very familiar with. The division has seen three different champions over the last five seasons. Will the New York Yankees repeat as AL East champs, even after losing Juan Soto? Last year, the Orioles took a step back from their 101-win season in 2023. Could they return to the top of the division, even after Corbin Burnes and Anthony Santander departed as free agents over the winter? The Boston Red Sox were very active in the offseason, trading for Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, and signing two-time All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman to a three-year, $120 million contract. Will it be enough to return Boston to the postseason? Mike and Jack also share their thoughts on the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays. On deck, Mike and Jack put the AL Central under the microscope. Four of the division's five teams have seen a quite a bit of preseason betting action... with the White Sox coming off a record-setting 121-loss season in 2024. The Cleveland Guardians, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins all posted winning seasons last year. Who do Mike and Jack like to win the division and snag a Wild Card (or two)? Then, the fellas turn their attention to the AL West. The Houston Astros have won the division seven of the last eight years. The only year in which the club has not won the West since 2017 came in 2020, in the COVID-shortened, 60-game season. In each of baseball's last seven full, 162-game seasons, the Astros have been AL West champions. However, the Astros bid farewell to Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, Justin Verlander and Ryan Pressly over the winter. The club doesn't appear to have much coming up through its farm system in the near future. Are the Astros still the team to beat in the West, or is their run reaching its end? Will the Seattle Mariners finally win their first division title since 2001? How will the Texas Rangers bounce back from a lackluster 2024, one year after winning the World Series? What kind of steps forward might the Los Angeles Angels and The Athletics take in 2025? Michael is a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies fan, so he is enthusiastic to weigh in on the Fightin' Phils' chances entering the coming season. How will the Atlanta Braves fare after losing ace Max Fried to free agency? Michael and Jack discuss the Mets' highly-priced addition of Juan Soto, and share which teams from the East they are projecting to make the playoffs. The Chicago Cubs are the betting favorites in the NL Central, despite having made the postseason just once over the last six years. The Milwaukee Brewers have reached the playoffs seven of the last eight years. Why aren't the Brewers getting more love? Michael and Jack debate. Jack believes that the three best teams in the National League all play in the NL West. Which of the three does he have winning the World Series? Jack explains why the greatest threat to the Los Angeles Dodgers' World Series defense may come in the National League Division Series. Finally, Michael and Jack share their World Series picks. It's an episode of the Jack Vita Show that you will not want to miss! AL East (0:00 - 17:30) AL Central (17:30 - 29:00) AL West (29:00 - 39:35) NL East (39:35 - 46:50) NL Central (46:50 - 53:15) NL West (53:15 - END)
Myself and Richard were joined On Pattisons John Foley (@2008Philz) to discus the Phils good start to the season and look ahead to the big Dodgers series!.

Episode 237: Flee, Follow & FightIn this episode of the Mavericks & Misfits Podcast, Jeff Lyle challenges us to examine our approach to faith and controversy within the Christian community. Drawing from 1 Timothy 6:11-12, we are given three crucial directives: Flee, Follow, and Fight. Scripture calls believers to flee from unhealthy controversy and pointless debates that often plague online Christian discourse. Instead, Jesus-followers are called to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness. This pursuit of Christ-like character is presented as far more valuable than winning arguments. The final directive, to 'fight the good fight of faith,' reminds us that our true battle is not against fellow believers, but against spiritual forces of evil. This episode compels us to reflect on how we spend our time and energy as Christians. Are we building up the body of Christ or tearing it down through needless quarrels? It challenges us to prioritize spiritual growth, discipleship, and the advancement of God's kingdom over the temporary satisfaction of proving ourselves right in debates.

On this episode of Tablesetters, we're joined by Campbell University Head Baseball Coach Chris Marx for an in-depth look at his first season at the helm of the Fightin' Camels. With a strong start to the 2025 campaign—including statement wins over East Carolina and a thrilling victory against Duke—Coach Marx breaks down what he's seen from his team so far, the adjustments they're making, and what lies ahead for Campbell this season. Coach Marx's journey to this role has taken him through various stops in college baseball, including stints as a pitching coach, hitting coach, and recruiting coordinator. We discuss his return to Campbell, where he previously served as an assistant, and how his time away prepared him for this opportunity. He also reflects on his long-standing relationship with former Campbell coach Justin Haire, now leading Ohio State, and how their connection has shaped his coaching philosophy. The Fightin' Camels kicked off 2025 with a challenging road series against top-25 UC Santa Barbara before settling into their home schedule, highlighted by their recent upset of Duke. Coach Marx details how his team executed against the Blue Devils, what aspects of their game have been most promising, and where they need to improve to reach their full potential. With Campbell now competing in the CAA after years of dominance in the Big South, he discusses the biggest differences in competition and what it will take to thrive in their new conference. Campbell has embraced the "Nobodies from Nowhere" mentality, proving year after year that they can compete with the best despite not being a traditional baseball powerhouse. Recruiting is always a battle, and Campbell finds itself in a talent-rich but highly competitive region. We dive into what sets the program apart, how they've expanded their recruiting footprint across the country, and the impact of NIL and the transfer portal on mid-major programs. Plus, we get Coach Marx's thoughts on the ongoing evolution of college baseball, including potential rule changes and the recent controversy in the Stetson vs. Florida game involving the first base safety bag. Campbell made history in 2024 with five former players appearing in MLB games—Cedric Mullins, Zach Neto, Ryan Thompson, Allan Winans, and Seth Johnson. Coach Marx shares his insights on what that MLB presence means for recruiting and which current Fightin' Camels have the potential to follow in their footsteps. We take a closer look at Dalen Thompson, a dynamic talent with power and speed who has already impressed early this season. As a former pitching coach, Coach Marx also weighs in on the alarming rise in elbow injuries across the sport, discussing the balance between player development and arm health. We wrap up the conversation with a fun debate on the best team names in college sports (besides the Fightin' Camels, of course) before Coach Marx gives his picks for the Mount Rushmore of Campbell University Athletics. Welcome to Episode 63 of Tablesetters! University of Delaware Head Baseball Coach Greg Mamula joins us for an in-depth conversation about the state of college baseball and the evolution of UD's program. Now in his third season leading the Fightin' Blue Hens, Coach Mamula reflects on his coaching journey, Delaware's recent success, and the transition from the CAA to Conference USA. Coach Mamula is just the fourth head coach in Fightin' Blue Hens baseball history. We discuss his path to the position, his previous stops, and what it means to lead this program. Delaware posted its best record since 2017 last season, finishing 31-26 overall and 15-9 in the CAA while making a deep run in the conference tournament. He shares what led to last year's success and how they plan to build on it. The Fightin' Blue Hens opened this season with a tough series at FAU, followed by a postponed matchup with Maryland. With another Florida series ahead against FIU, Coach Mamula explains how he's keeping his team focused and what excites him most about this year's roster. Delaware is set to leave the CAA at the end of the season and transition to Conference USA. Coach Mamula details how the move came about, what changes it will bring, and how it affects recruiting, scheduling, and competition. Recruiting is always a challenge, especially for a northern school competing against powerhouse programs in the South. We ask what Delaware's biggest selling points are for attracting top talent and how they navigate those challenges. Delaware has long been known for its offensive firepower, but Coach Mamula has emphasized pitching development since taking over. He shares his approach to building a more complete team on both sides of the ball. We also get his thoughts on the impact of NIL and the transfer portal, how those factors have reshaped college baseball, and whether mid-majors are at a growing disadvantage. If given the power to change anything about college baseball, what would he tweak? Whether it's rules, scheduling, recruiting, or the presentation of the game, we get his take on the sport's evolution. As a former pitching coach, he also weighs in on the rising number of arm injuries and how programs can better balance player development with long-term health. With MLB prospects making the jump to the big leagues faster than ever, does college baseball deserve more credit for preparing them? We discuss how the college game has influenced professional development and what trends could continue. We also take a look at the University of Delaware's deep connections to pro baseball. Blue Jays manager John Schneider is a former UD catcher, and alumni like Chad Kuhl, Ron Marinaccio, Brandon Walter, and James Meeker have made their mark in the pros. Coach Mamula shares his relationships with UD's MLB connections and his experience coaching future major leaguers like Ian Happ, Nolan Schanuel, and Joey Wendle. Finally, we wrap up with a Mount Rushmore of University of Delaware Athletics, where Coach Mamula gives his picks for the most influential figures in UD sports history. The last few days we've been tracking some of the nominees for Donald Trump's Insane Clown Posse Cabinet. Starting with Chris Wright at Energy (better than expected!) and then Lee Zeldin at EPA (and NGL was fun to watch him get stuffed into a locker by Bernie Sanders, Ed Markey, and Sheldon Whitehouse). But after 9 hours of hearings watched for you, here's the final Trump energy boss - Interior Sec nominee and potential head of the National Energy Council, North Dakota governor and billionaire Doug Burgum. Burgum is a fan of “clean coal”, “methane capture”, and “energy dominance” - and while he says he acknowledges climate change doesn't think it matters next to using more coal to build more AI data centres to beat China. But like the LA fires, whether or not you believe in climate change, climate change believes in you. And if Doug Burgum becomes Interior Sec he will be responsible for brokering a deal next year to replace the expiring 100-year-old agreement between the Western US states including 40 million people to divide up the flow of the Colorado River. But in 2026, the Colorado will be in the middle of a 10,000-year-drought and a long-term decline - all due to climate change. Meaning there is a lot less to go around. We would have loved to hear more informed questioning about claims about the track record of carbon capture or rebuttal of nonsense claims that eg 'solar is more expensive than coal'. Even Angus King from Maine, almost certainly the best of the bunch, barely laid a glove on him.Join us at wickedproblems.earth to get these episodes ad-free and to get our newsletter and other content. We chat the lastest episode of RHOSLC and I think Bronwyn & Todd are NOT on the same page at all and a divorce wouldn't surprise me at all. We also chat today's Jeff Lewis Live with Sarah Colonna and Doug Budin and Joey Zauzig and Todrick Hall. Joey and Justin Martindale seem to have some beef with each other and Carnie is either a really good sport with Jeff or she's upset and trying to play it off. They also touch on the debate of whether a hot dog is a taco and the opinion that chocolate is gross. They touch on the perception of real estate agents being underpaid, the preference for ranch dressing over blue cheese, Taylor Swift's popularity and controversy, the word 'moist', and the differences between Costco and Sam's Club. They also talk about awkward situations, such as leaving a store without buying anything and using public restrooms. The conversation ends with a quote about eternal summer in a grateful heart.Links:https://www.lowtreestudios.comhttps://www.youtube.com/@lowtreestudios Visit our Store: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/lowtreestudiosTopic Details:Eating well and exercising may be as effective for treating depression as going to therapy, say researchers. A study conducted at Deakin University in Australia found that a healthy diet and regular exercise seem to do be just as effective as traditional psychotherapy in treating depression. They say the finding could help those who struggle with the idea of seeking mental health help, or may not be able to afford regular therapy sessions. The next internet buzzword very well could become…“un-alived”. Recently, some visitors to Seattle's Museum of Pop Culture reported seeing something that surprised them. A placard on display in one of its exhibits described an iconic hometown hero's death in the following way: “Kurt Cobain un-alived himself at 27.” “Unalived” is a common term on TikTok, first used as a way to get around censors on the app when discussing death. But it's since taken on a euphemistic meaning offline, as a way to talk about death and especially suicide, while attempting to avoid the subject's inherent discomfort. FIGHTIN' WORDS:X user LB started a thread, asking people to reply with their best ways to “start a fight in less than 5 words” — without mentioning politics. Prepare yourself . . .⇒ “Star Wars is boring.” – Bethany S. Mandel⇒ “You're acting like your mom.” – Capt'n Cornjuice⇒ “Reclining is my right.” – Bryan McGrath⇒ “Brad Pitt was never hot.” — Camellia⇒ “Soap on cast iron pan.” – Bart Giordano⇒ “Cilantro is the best herb.” – Michael Scott⇒ “A hotdog is a taco.” – The Crackal⇒ “Chocolate is gross.” – Stephanie Co⇒ “Real estate agents are underpaid.” – Max Martin⇒ “Ranch beats blue cheese, period.” — ThatFamilyGames⇒ “Wine is better with ice.” – Jeff Jacoby⇒ “Taylor Swift is overrated.” – Mike...
