Marriage, Divorce and Fornication (1) (audio) David Eells, 5/24/26 Scriptural Marriage and Divorce David Eells I know this can be a real can of worms and such a touchy subject when dealing with people who love each other, but we owe it to the brethren to speak the truth concerning their eternal life. We must consider scripture rather than human reasoning, which has gotten a lot of people in trouble and they don't know why they are there. Here are some basic things the Lord has shown from scripture on divorce and remarriage: Jesus' commands superseded the Jews' permission for divorce by His statements, so we cannot go to the law to justify divorce. (Mat.19:8) He said to them, Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. Once again religion is wrong. Hardened hearts cannot be turned easily but in respecting scripture there is safety. There is only one reason for divorce. (9) And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication (Numeric) and marries another woman commits adultery.” If a spouse commits fornication, whether outside of the first marriage or by illegal remarriage, the other is free to remarry because the first spouse broke the marriage bond. Being legally able to remarry does not mean this is God's will for you. God loves to restore. If your mate repents and asks your forgiveness, then forgive as Christ forgave you. Also, spiritual fornication of the heart is not an excuse, for the scripture speaks of physical fornication of the body. You may be concerned, thinking, “What can I do if I got married before I came to the Lord?” Don't worry about that, because everything we did before we came to the Lord was sin, and we can't go back and do anything about it. After you're saved, you are now a new creation in the Lord, and your sins are washed clean by the blood of Christ. The disciples admitted this was a hard statement, and many think so today, but it is better to obey than to bring yourselves under a curse that many endure. (Mat.19:10) The disciples said to Him, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.” Even in the Old Testament, it was fornication for a believer to be married to an unbeliever but hear me out... (Ezr.9:2) For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the peoples of the lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. ... (Ezr.10:10) And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have trespassed, and have married foreign women, to increase the guilt of Israel. (11) Now therefore make confession unto Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women. Don't act here without reading on. And so it is in the New Covenant: (1Co.7:39) A wife is bound for so long time as her husband liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is free to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. Notice we are to marry “only in the Lord”. (1Co.9:5) Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer. Notice the condition, the wife must be a believer.. (2Co.6:14) Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness? (15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what portion hath a believer with an unbeliever? (If one becomes one with an unbeliever to some extent they are leavening themselves.)(16) And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (17) Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you. Better not even to date an unbeliever, saints. You don't want to go there because it will bring you a lot of heartache and curses in the future. However, God makes a concession in the New Testament when a person comes to the Lord with an unbelieving spouse because the unbelieving spouse might eventually be saved through their faith. (1Co.7:12) But to the rest say I, not the Lord: If any brother hath an unbelieving wife, and she is content to dwell with him, let him not leave her. (13) And the woman that hath an unbelieving husband, and he is content to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband. (14) For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. If that spouse, as an unbeliever, departs, you can remarry. (15) Yet if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart: the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such [cases]... Even if you are remarried illegally many times before coming to the Lord, the commands are to Christians and are not retroactive to the old life, for we are a new creation, cleansed of all past sins. Also, Christians can do things in ignorance that are under the blood, for knowledge precedes sin in the New Testament, as before the Law. (Rom.5:13) for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (Rom.7:8)... for apart from the law sin [is] dead. (Jas.4:17) To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (Joh.15:22) If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin. This is not an excuse for someone to falsely claim ignorance because God looks on the heart and knows all; He knows what you understand and what you do not. Judgment is sure for fornicators and adulterers. (1Co.6:9) Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators (Basically illegal sexual actions), nor idolaters, nor adulterers (Sometimes this is marrying someone who is already married and not scripturally divorced), nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, (10) nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (Rev.21:7) He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (8) But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part [shall be] in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death. Marriage and divorce can be a very convoluted problem. If, after diligently searching into all that the New Covenant teaches on this subject and asking elders with no satisfaction, remember what Moses did. (Exo.18:25) And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. (26) And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. God told Moses that he would be as God to Israel. For some things, we need to get a word from our Lord. But be careful that you don't receive a flesh pleasing answer from your own mind. Samson kept choosing women for looks rather than staying with scripture and it got him killed. Let's look at what Paul wrote to the Corinthians about marriage. (1Co.7:1) Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. (2) But, because of fornications, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. (3) Let the husband render unto the wife her due: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. (4) The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power over his own body, but the wife. (5) Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto prayer, and may be together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency. (6) But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment. (7) Yet I would that all men were even as I myself. Howbeit each man hath his own gift from God, one after this manner, and another after that. (If you're not married, then you won't be distracted, but not everybody has this gift to be celibate, and we're told, (Pro.18:22) Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favor of the Lord.) (8) But I say to the unmarried and to widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. (9) But if they have not continency, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. (10) But unto the married I give charge, [yea] not I, but the Lord, That the wife depart not from her husband (11) (but should she depart, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband); and that the husband leave not his wife. (I know there are circumstances where a believing or unbelieving husband can be very obnoxious, very overbearing, very sinful, and that's very crucifying to the wife, but that's not an excuse to leave. In most cases, unless he is asking the wife to willfully sin, there can be submission on her part. However, no one should stay in a situation where their life or the lives of their children are in physical danger. We have permission in such a case to flee (Matthew 24:16; Luke 21:21; etc.). (12) But to the rest say I, not the Lord: If any brother hath an unbelieving wife, and she is content to dwell with him, let him not leave her. (13) And the woman that hath an unbelieving husband, and he is content to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband. (14) For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. Sanctified here means that the influence of you Christian life can save them and also your faith can stand in for them. (15) Yet if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart: the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us in peace. (Just know that in the New Testament, being married to an unbeliever is not grounds to leave them; again, only if they leave you, are you free. In the Old Testament, however, if a believer married a non-believer, they demanded a divorce over that because for Jews to be married to non-Jews was fornication (Nehemiah 13:23-30; Ezra chapters 9 and 10). (Neh.13:26) Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did foreign women cause to sin. (27) Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women? Back to (1Cor.7:16) For how knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? Or how knowest thou, O husband, whether thou shalt save thy wife? …(25) Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: but I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be trustworthy. (26) I think therefore that this is good by reason of the distress that is upon us, [namely,] that it is good for a man to be as he is. (27) Art thou bound unto a wife? Seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? Seek not a wife. (28) But shouldest thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Yet such shall have tribulation in the flesh: and I would spare you. (29) But this I say, brethren, the time is shortened, that henceforth both those that have wives may be as though they had none; (In other words don't let this distract from your service to God.) (30) and those that weep, as though they wept not; and those that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and those that buy, as though they possessed not; (31) and those that use the world, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this world passeth away. (32) But I would have you to be free from cares. He that is unmarried is careful for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; (In other words, they're not divided in their attention. However, people don't have to be divided in their attention; they can be celibate or they can always put the Lord first.) (33) but he that is married is careful for the things of the world, how he may please his wife, (Well, if a man is married, it's necessary for him to please his wife, but not to the extent that he lets her be the head of the house; that's bad, very bad. That's like Jezebel and Ahab and I'll share more on that later.) (34) and is divided. [So] also the woman that is unmarried and the virgin is careful for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married is careful for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. (Is this a bad thing? No, it's commanded, as a matter of fact. It's not a bad thing; it's just that your ability to have your total attention on the Lord without being distracted by family situations is going to be limited. God created the family, so He's not against families. He's against families where they're not married, obviously. What Paul is saying is that if a woman is married, she has to please her husband.) (35) And this I say for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is seemly, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. (36) But if any man thinketh that he behaveth himself unseemly toward his virgin [daughter], if she be past the flower of her age, and if need so requireth, let him do what he will; he sinneth not; let them marry. (You have to understand that a woman was under the authority of her father until she married.)(37) But he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power as touching in his own heart, to keep his own virgin [daughter], shall do well. (38) So then both he that giveth his own virgin [daughter] in marriage doeth well; and he that giveth her not in marriage shall do better. (39) A wife is bound for so long time as her husband liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is free to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. (40) But she is happier if she abide as she is, after my judgment: and I think that I also have the Spirit of God. Polygamy in the Church? Question from a sister: Someone told me that polygamy is allowed by God! I don't believe this, but I had no way to refute this claim. I tried finding some scriptures, but to no avail. When I looked this subject up on the internet, I actually found a “Christian” website promoting polygamy. What will they think of next? Can you share some scriptures that refute this claim? My answer: Under the Law, they were permitted to have more than one wife and divorce their wives because of their “hardness of heart” but under grace, there is no such permission. Jesus said a man could have one wife and “the two shall become one flesh.” (Mat.19:5-8) and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away? He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so. From the beginning, God gave Adam, the Son of God, one wife. It appears his righteous seed through Seth were monogamous also. Cain's evil descendant, Lamech, was the first to take two wives. (Gen.4:19) And Lamech took unto him two wives. In order that a line of Israel not be extinct, the next of kin was permitted to raise up seed to a dead man's wife. But the seed of New Testament spiritual Israel is passed on through the Word (seed or sperma) of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Although they disobeyed God, the Kings of Israel were forbidden to multiply wives. (Deu.17:17-19) Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of [that which is] before the priests the Levites: and it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear Jehovah his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them. The Apostles had one wife. (1Co.9:5) Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? All of God's people must be upright, but Paul required elders to be “without reproach” and “blameless” in that they were to be the “husband of one wife.” This is definitely one wife at a time because fornication is a legal ground for divorce and remarriage (1 Corinthians 7), and the death of a spouse is a legal ground to remarry. (1Ti.3:2) The bishop therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, orderly, given to hospitality, apt to teach. (12) Let deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling [their] children and their own houses well. (Tit.1:6,7) if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly. For the bishop must be blameless, as God's steward... If the elders or the mature in the Lord need to be upright in having one wife, all need to be this way to be mature. The husband is the head of one wife as Christ is the head of one church. (Eph.5:23-33) For the husband is the head of the wife (not wives), as Christ also is the head of the church, [being] himself the saviour of the body. (24) But as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives also [be] to their husbands in everything. (25) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; (26) that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, (27) that he might present the church to himself a glorious [church], not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (28) Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself: (29) for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church; (30) because we are members of his body. (31) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife (not wives); and the two shall become one flesh. (32) This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church. (33) Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and [let] the wife [see] that she fear her husband. Now, I want to share this, too. Men, do not appease a Jezebel spirit; it's going to seduce you and lead you astray. This is our command from God. (Eph.5:22) Wives, [be in subjection] unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. (The Lord, not I, said this, but those who have a Jezebel spirit will still get angry, although this is the truth. We have to obey God's Word, or we can't call ourselves “disciples.”) (23) For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, (Just as much as Jesus is Head of the Church, the husband is the head of the wife.), [being] himself the saviour of the body. (If a wife does not obey her husband, she is not going to get saved.) (24) But as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives also [be] to their husbands in everything. (To make this possible for the wife, we are then told,) (25) Husbands, love your wives (Feeling unloved isn't an excuse for a wife to disobey her husband, but love makes it easier for the wife to obey her husband.), even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it. Men, loving your wife does not include giving in to a Jezebel spirit. Giving in means you are putting yourself under a demon spirit and taking yourself and your family out from under God. If you do that, you will pay the price. On the other hand, do not judge the lost wife. God insists on Christ the Word being your Head. Don't judge her, but don't allow her to be your Head. If Jesus is not your Head, then you are following a false god. It's very plain. (Mat.12:30) He that is not with me is against me… If, because of your stand for Christ, your wife leaves you, then suffer for Christ's sake. We all have to suffer in one way or another, but do not follow a false god. The Bible says, (1Co.7:15) Yet if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart: the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such [cases:] but God hath called us in peace If your spouse leaves because you follow Jesus, then so be it. You are not bound in such a case; God never really wants you to be married to an unbeliever anyway. He says to stay married to them only if they are content to dwell with you, because they can be saved through your witness. Amen! The wife who has an unbelieving husband should obey him up to, but not including, moral sin. (1Pe.3:1) In like manner, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be gained by the behavior of their wives. (Read our book on our site, Word Woman and Authority.) If you want to be a disciple of Jesus, you have to follow the Word. If you want to be a “Christian” and not be a disciple of Jesus, you are not going to be saved. It's that simple. The word “Christian” is a very loose term in our day, meaning almost nothing. In the early days, people were called “Christians” because they followed Christ Jesus and did His works. Today, the word “Christian” should mean more, but, sadly, it doesn't mean much to people. Jesus told us, (Mat.10:34) Think not that I came to send peace on the earth (You might think, “Peace between me and my wife is the most important. I have to do whatever I have to do.” No, you don't. Jesus did not come to send peace on the earth.): I came not to send peace, but a sword. (And that “sword” is to divide those who are loyal to God's Word from those who are not.) (35) For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law (Now, there are many more relationships. He's just making a point.): (36) and a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household. When you come to God, and they have not, you have no communion there. The Bible says, (2Co.6:14) Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness? If you follow the Lord, they can be converted by your witness. If you don't follow the Lord, you have no favor from God, and in that event, don't expect your family to be saved. For your family to be saved, the most important thing for you to do is follow the Lord as a disciple of Jesus Christ and have favor from God. He will save your family if you believe Him for it. (Mat.10:37) He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. You can love people more than you love the Word. The Lord and Word are the same. If you love someone or something more than the Word, you are going to be deceived. It's possible to pity demon-possessed people and then, through demons manipulating that pity, to be deceived and fall right into their situation. Don't believe that all those who call themselves “Christian” are going to be saved, because (Mat.10:38) And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me. (We are to die on our “cross” in order to gain our higher life, the life of the born-again man.) (39) He that findeth his life (This is the old psuche life.) shall lose it; (39) and he that loseth his life (Again, this is the old psuche life, the carnal self.) for my sake shall find it. Let me share with you a testimony we have on our site called: Marriage Lost and Found William and Jamie Leek - 02/09/2010 My wife and I have been separated and near divorce twice since the year 2000 because we loved “our sin”, plain and simple. The first separation was in 2002 and 2003. This separation wasn't as bad as the second, but there were a lot of lies and deceit practiced by both parties during the first separation. We got back together in 2003, where our “Mother in the Lord” renewed our vows. The only problem with this is that we were still mocking God in our walks with Him and still “playing church.” We had made a “confession” of Jesus Christ, but we were not being taught the “whole counsel of God,” so we thought the Lord forgave our sin at the cross, and we were “Covered in the Blood.” According to Matthew 12:43-45, when we confessed Christ and His blood cleansed us from our sin and the curse, we allowed that sin to remain in our lives. The demons, which plagued us, brought seven more back with them, stronger than the first. Thus, we were worse off than ever before. We thank the Lord for His mercy, grace, and long-suffering with us. In 2004 came the second separation. This time, the Lord had given us both over to the desires of our very own wicked hearts and allowed us to sink to levels of darkness that we never knew we had in us. During our second separation, the Lord allowed us to see just how sick the human heart, will, and emotions really are (Jeremiah 17:9). During this time of separation, we both fled at top speed back into the world, and we returned to our old ways. I began to smoke pot again (all day EVERYDAY), and she began to drink more than she ever did. We both began to sleep around with other people outside of our marriage. We were separated for nine months, and the combined number of people the two of us slept with was 16. The Lord really allowed us to fall to the bottom of the depths of the sea of sin, which our lives had become. We were going to a little Pentecostal church at the time when these separations took place. It was here we met a woman I considered to be like a mother in the Lord. She loved my wife and family with all her heart. She took time to come to our home and share the scriptures with us once a week for an extended period of time. She believed with her whole heart that we were “called” to the ministry. She would call me in the middle of the night and say, “I woke up in tears, praying in tongues because I just had such a burden for your family.” The Lord would end up using this mighty woman of God and her fervent prayer life to reconcile our marriage and heal our family. She also told me during the 2004 separation that the Lord gave her a dream where He showed her my family living together in a home happier than we had ever been. This, of course, did not matter to me at the time because my heart was full of rage and hatred. I don't believe in accidents; I believe in the sovereign God written about in the scriptures. In January of 2005, I took a trip to Florida with a woman with whom I had been committing adultery. We drove down together, but for some reason at the end of the trip I made her get on a plane, and I drove home alone. On the trip home, my wife and I started to talk again. The Lord also began to really convict me of my sin. Even though, at the time, I did not understand the meaning of “conviction of sin.” All I knew was that I had an overwhelming feeling of guilt for what I was doing. I knew that a change had to come. In April of 2005, my wife and I really started to talk again on a regular basis. At the beginning of May, we had been together for the entire weekend when we received a phone call from a lady with whom we had gone to church. This lady had news that would shake my wife and me to the very core of our being. She told me that my Mother in the Lord, Shirley Summers, was dying of cancer. Well, this is where we know the Lord began to heal our marriage. When the woman shared this news with me on the phone, I began to weep. With tears streaming down my face, I shared the news with my wife, and we shared tears together. She looked at me and said, “I am going to my parents' house, and I'm getting my things, and I am coming home.” That was on May 4, 2005. The next day, my mom called me on the phone and told me that Shirley had gone on to glory. The reason this stands out as one of the most important events in our marriage is that this woman prayed for us fervently (James 5:16). She never stopped believing in our call to the ministry, and she stood in faith for our marriage when we couldn't. Also, the number “5” in the scriptures signifies “GRACE,” and we didn't realize that until a year later, that our Mother in the Lord had died on 5/05/05, a number and day of GRACE. The Lord was very long-suffering with my wife and me. It was not until after we reconciled that we ran across a website where we began to hear the “full Gospel” being preached. We had never heard all the important doctrines taught throughout the scriptures. We had not been taught about repentance, obedience, holiness, or real Bible faith. We also realized that neither one of us was truly saved, as spoken of in the Bible. The scariest thing of all is that we realized that if the Lord would have called our numbers, we would have gone to HELL! It has been a long journey for both of us, as we got rid of the leaven in our lives after leaving the organized church. Over the years, we have had to learn what it means to repent and to truly come to the Lord, believing who He is and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. We thank the Lord for UBM for standing for the “TRUE GOSPEL”! Deuteronomy 4:30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. Now, what about common law marriage? Is that biblical? Most states in America have abolished common law marriage, and only a few states recognize it as a legal marriage between two people who have not purchased a marriage license or had their marriage solemnized by a ceremony. The few states that do recognize it have conditional statutes. Scripture is clear that marriage is a binding commitment before witnesses and God; a public, covenantal relationship. It is a commitment agreement until death. When Christians marry, they commit to loving each other just as Christ loved the church. If you are not married, you are living in fornication. Heterosexual and Homosexual Fornication Letter from a friend: Hi! I have a neighbor friend with whom I've been having sort of an ongoing “discussion/argument” about whether sex outside of marriage is OK, according to the Bible. I know in my heart it is not, but he wants me to prove it to him with scripture. I haven't studied it extensively, but what I've read doesn't say it precisely enough to prove my point. There is one passage about two unwed people being found in the act and having to marry. Since the Ten Commandments do not say, thou shalt not have sex outside of marriage, he thinks it is ok. My reply: Fornication is the broad term that covers all sex outside of heterosexual marriage. Adultery, homosexuality, whoremonger, bestiality, and masturbation all fall under this category. The Greek word for fornication is “porneia”, from which we get pornography. Many commit fornication with pornography in print or on any visual screen, TV, social media sites, movies, etc. (Mat.5:28) but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. The same is true for any other illicit sexual desire. Repentance and faith deliver from these sins. Heterosexual Fornication Everyone who has sex out of marriage is a fornicator. (1Co.7:1) Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. (7:2) But, because of fornications, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. All fornicators must repent or face eternal damnation. In any place that we are willfully disobedient, we need the fear of God. Sins of ignorance (Rom.5:13; 7:8,9) and sins of failure (Rom.7:19-25) are under the blood when we repent. However, we cannot claim the sacrificial benefits if we willfully walk in premeditated sin. (Heb.10:26) For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins, (27) but a certain fearful expectation of judgment... Jesus bore all sin; He also bore the penalty for all sin, except willful disobedience. Notice that there is “no more a sacrifice” for that sin. We would have “a certain fearful expectation of judgment.” Many of us have been lied to about the cleansing of the blood. (1Jn.1:7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin. The blood cleanses the one who walks in the light of the Word, not in the darkness of willful disobedience. For willful disobedience, we are promised certain judgment. We pay the penalty for this sin here and now, as in the following verses: (Mat.18:34) And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors (demons), till he should pay all that was due. (35) So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts. God will use the demons to make us pay for a sin of the will. (Mat.5:25) Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art with him in the way; lest haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge (God), and the judge deliver thee to the officer (demon), and thou be cast into prison. (26) Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing. The prison here is spiritual bondage to sin and the curse, administered by the demons. Jesus came “...to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening [of the prison] to them that are bound” (Isa.61:1). Willful disobedience throws us back into the prison that Jesus delivered us from. David sinned willfully with Bathsheba. When he repented, Nathan the prophet said, “The Lord also hath put away thy sin”, but he also said, “The sword shall never depart from thy house.” In other words, I forgive you, but you will have to pay the penalty. This proved true, for David lost three sons and many people. His own son Absalom won the sympathy of the people and usurped the kingdom. David had to flee for his life. As parents we do not spank our children for failure or mistakes, but for willful disobedience. Paul said, “For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not (willed not), that I practice. But if what I would not (willed not), that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me” (Rom.7:19,20). Paul was failing God in a sin that his will was against. Notice that he hated the sin and was not accounted guilty; the old sin nature was guilty. When we are against the sin, God takes our side against the sin. He takes the side of the spiritual man against the old man. In this state, Paul cried out to the Lord. (24) Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death? Then he accepted God's promise of deliverance by faith. (25) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus bore the curse of the sin for a person who, like Paul, is repentant. The curse of death is upon the one who will not save themselves for marriage. (Deu.22:13) If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,(14) and lay shameful things to her charge, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came nigh to her, I found not in her the tokens of virginity; …(20) But if this thing be true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the damsel; (21) then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the harlot in her father's house: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. Only repentance and faith in the sacrifice of Jesus removes this curse. (22) If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband,(Adultery) then they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away the evil from Israel. Homosexual Fornication (Jude 1:7) Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, having in like manner with these given themselves over to fornication and gone after strange flesh (Men with men/women with women), are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire. (2Pe.2:6) and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, having made them an example unto those that should live ungodly; (7) and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious life of the wicked (8) (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed [his] righteous soul from day to day with [their] lawless deeds): (9) the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment unto the day of judgment; (10) but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise dominion. We have seen many people who fell into faction and ultimately into fornication of many kinds, and God reprobated them. Let me share a portion of a dream from Reynaldo Portela: In this dream, an angel put me in a room where a group of men was practicing homosexuality, and the angel told me, “The man who has sex with another man is going to regret it. God hates the practice of that sin.” (David: In the spiritual, we are reborn with Christ's spirit. Therefore, we should only sow Christ's spirit in our soul, which is our mind, will, and emotions. If we receive the spiritual seed of “men”, we often lose our first love and become reprobate.) Other factious leaders had the same problem and were also bisexual. They all have sexual perversion. Satan demands perversion from his servants. The DS are satanists also and are bisexual. They have the same spirits. God is always willing to deliver anyone like this if there is repentance. Remember I said that through repentance and faith in Jesus and His sacrifice for us, there is deliverance from these sins and its curses. Now God knows that you did not necessarily choose this life, and some of you think you had this from birth, which is not true. A lot of you already know that you were molested at some point in your life, and you became a sinner. Well, these demons entered in then. Now the Good News of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ bore this sin upon Himself for you, and He is offering you grace to repent and be delivered from it so you will never have these wrong desires and emotions again. He took away the sin nature of homosexuality and any sin of fornication. He wants you to repent and surrender your life to Him. Confess your sins as the Bible says in 1Jo.1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God will give you a new, clean spirit and a new nature, this free gift of His salvation! Let's pray. Father, we thank You, and we ask You, Lord, to reach out and touch the people out there who are in bondage to sin, homosexual, heterosexual, or any kind of sin, and we ask You, Lord, to reach out and touch them with Your convicting power. Father, we ask You to show them that Your word is true. We ask You to reveal Yourself to them, and to show them the Real True Good News that Jesus has already delivered them from this; He's already borne their sin on the cross, and they don't have to bear it any longer. Father, we ask it in the name of Jesus that You go forth right now and deliver those who are listening to us who believe what's been shared here. Please, Lord, go forth and deliver them now in the name of Jesus. We rebuke these demons from your life in the name of Jesus Christ! 'Groundbreaking' study shows 'gays' can change Posted: September 15, 2007 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com In the first longitudinal, peer-reviewed, scientific study of its kind, researchers have concluded that some homosexuals can change their “orientation” through religiously mediated guidance. Researchers Stanton L. Jones and Mark A. Yarhouse released the results of a three-year study on Thursday during an address at the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference. Their conclusions contradict the claims of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, which contend that such a change in sexual orientation is impossible and attempting to pursue it likely will cause depression, anxiety, or self-destructive behavior. The new study concluded such changes do not cause psychological harm to the patient. Nicholas A. Cummings, former American Psychological Association president, praised the research. “This study has broken new ground in its adherence to objectivity and a scientific precision that can be replicated and expanded, and it opens new horizons for investigation”, he said. Exodus International, the world's largest Christian ministry to homosexuals, said it funded the research because of the absence of any scientific, peer-reviewed research on the topic. The major findings are reported in a book to be released by the evangelical Christian publisher InterVarsity Press, “Ex-Gays? A Longitudinal Study of Religiously Mediated Change in Sexual Orientation.” A homosexual-activist group called Truth Wins Out warned news organizations “to be highly skeptical of a biased 'ex-gay' sham study.” The homosexual group said, “Caution should be taken in prematurely critiquing the study until the full methodology is available. However, based on unconfirmed reports, there is great concern that these notorious anti-gay researchers did little more than professional ex-gay lobbyists and ministers from Exodus International, and ask them if they had 'changed.'” Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International and a former homosexual, said, “Finally, there is now scientific evidence to prove what we as former homosexuals have known all along - that those who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction can experience freedom from it.” “For years, opponents of choice have said otherwise, and this body of research is critical in advancing the national dialogue on this issue”, he said. Chambers said, “the life-changing process of leaving homosexuality behind” is not easy, but “for thousands of us, the journey has been well worth it, and we are grateful that these study findings give credence to our existence as men and women whose lives have been transformed by Jesus Christ.” Jones, a provost and professor at Wheaton College, an evangelical school in Wheaton, Ill., told CitizenLink magazine in an interview he was prompted to do the study because of the “ever-increasing pessimism expressed in the professional world that sexual orientation could ever be changed.” “This was in contrast to the fact that I occasionally met individuals in Christian circles who claim to have experienced precisely such change”, he said. “When the mental-health field actually began to say that change is impossible - that sexual orientation cannot be changed - it formed the perfect scientific hypothesis to be able to conduct a study.” Jones noted there have been dozens of studies conducted suggesting change is possible for some people, but “the research is not of the highest quality and has been deeply and highly criticized.” After studying the criticisms of those studies, Jones and Yarhouse concluded the proper methodology would need to be both “prospective and longitudinal.” “Prospective means that you catch people before they begin the change process and follow them through the process, while longitudinal means that you're actually following people over time to see if the change is stable”, Jones explained to CitizenLink. “The scientific characteristics of the study are unique, in that no one has ever started early and then followed people over a long period of time like we did.” Jones said they found that, by following the subjects over time, “not everyone is successful, not even a majority is successful, but a very substantial group of people report fairly dramatic change.” “We found that 15 percent of our sample of about 100 claimed to actually have changed from homosexuality to heterosexuality”, he said. “These people experienced significant enough change that they really felt like they had left one sexual orientation to shift into another.” He acknowledged “life is still complicated for these people, and some still have some residuals of their homosexual attractions.” “However, they are people who report being able to function as heterosexuals, they're happy with their marriages, and they feel that their lives have changed dramatically”, he said. The other type of success he found - in almost a quarter of the subjects - was “people who left the homosexual lifestyle and experienced very substantial reductions in homosexual attraction by embracing the Christian discipline of chastity, not acting on their sexual impulses.” “These were people who felt like they were free now to orient their lives not on their sexual, erotic desires and needs, but on their relationship with God and on healthy, nonsexual intimacy with other people”, Jones said. The two groups together, those who converted and those who experienced chastity, made up about 38 percent of the sample. “We feel these changes observed over this substantial period of time provide a clear indication that the opinions of the secular mental-health field that change is impossible are simply wrong”, Jones said. The second area of the research focused on the secular mental-health community's claims that the attempt to change is harmful. Jones and Yarhouse administered a standard psychological inventory that measures psychological distress to subjects at every point along the way. “We found that there was essentially no change in their psychological distress over time”, Jones said. “On that basis, we feel that there is no evidence that the change attempt is harmful, and we found evidence that change is possible for some people.” He added, however, the research does not prove that anybody can change or that no one has ever been harmed from the attempt to change. “It just suggests that the forceful way in which the secular mental-health community is saying change is impossible and harmful is just not well-advised”, he said. Jones pointed out that the American Psychological Association has a blue-ribbon panel right now examining the question of how it should formulate its policies on the subject of attempts to change sexual orientation. Certain members, Jones noted, have already said publicly that change is impossible and harmful. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. Though Paul is speaking the above scripture to those persons who have unbelieving mates, I also know this applies to unbelievers in general when we are around those unbelievers. This world today is active and violent in trying to accomplish their purposes, none of which have anything to do with us, the elect of God, as we wait for Jesus to return. The apostate churches are big and powerful looking, but their power is of man and not of God. The elect of God, those individuals to whom God has revealed HIMSELF, do not seem to have any power when it comes to the world or to the apostate churches. But our hope is in God! God is power. The apostle Peter told us what we are to be diligent to do as we wait for the return of Jesus. 2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless. Being in peace does not in any way mean we support the apostate churches today, nor do we support the works of the world which go against that which we read in the Bible. If we try to appease either the world or the apostate churches, we will be in danger of going down with them at the judgment of Christ. When they try to come among us as they speak contrary doctrines and tell of their many "good" works, we simply remain steadfast in the upholding of doctrines of the Bible and I have found they no longer want to come "visit" with me and they don't want personal conversations with me so I remain waiting in peace, untroubled by them. Many times I have sent the word of God to various church goers, Catholics, Church of Christ, Baptists, non-denominational ... and they have stayed away from me en-mass. (continuing in their denominations) while I continue in the peace of the word given me by God, continuing to exhort the elect of God through Internet by blog and Podcasts. Recently there was a brief moment of attempted communication between me and a Catholic woman. But a great wall seems to exist keeping us from fleshly "fellowship" that we might have pursued, left to our own devices. God spared me! She said, "I'll call you this weekend." I called on God asking HIM to "help me". There was no phone call that weekend. Our flesh does get stirred up as we desire to renew communications with them, but how can light fellowship with darkness? It is not possible. Only when we are truly one Spirit are we able to fellowship as the elect of God. When we are the elect of God, born again, and they are the church goers, there is a great gulf between us. Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed? So we continue our wait for the return of Jesus speaking to the elect of God. It seems important at this point in time for us to differentiate between the elect of God and the church goers. Jesus is coming to gather the elect of God to HIMSELF. Matthew 24:30-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. If the church goers become born again by the Spirit of God, then we are one Spirit with them and we are all the elect as we await for Jesus, and in some individual cases this could happen. But I doubt this will happen with entire church groups. The elect will never be able to share with the church goers because we are different spirits, although we will speak as led by the Holy Spirit given the opportunity to speak. (After I speak I see them withdraw.) We cannot pretend to have fellowship with this world or with the church goers who do not have the Spirit of God else we are continually troubled by them. Light and darkness cannot co-exist. Many churches today are teaching doctrines that are traditions of men instead of the commandments of God from the New Testament Bible. This is antichrist in the end time church. This is the apostasy that Paul said had to come before Jesus returns. II Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. "The falling away" are churches falling away from scripture. When this happens the door is open for antichrist to come into the church and set up doctrines of men, departing from scripture which is the doctrine of Christ for the church. For example: The Catholic church teaches their followers to pray to Mary. This is their "tradition" set up by men and not by God. Jesus says: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. In the New Testament Bible, we are taught to pray directly to God through Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Mary is dead. She is sleeping. She cannot hear you or watch over you. No dead person can do these things. Dead people are asleep. Jesus shows us that dead people are "asleep". John 11:11-14 These things said HE (Jesus): and after that HE saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Then said His disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that HE had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. Some church people in both Catholic and Protestant churches think dead people watch over them. The Bible shows us that dead people are asleep. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep (dead). 16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. God watches over us. Dead people are sleeping until Jesus returns. In churches today, there are many traditions of men which are opposite to the doctrines of Christ in the Holy Bible. ***** The protestant churches usually call crackers and grape juice, "The Lord's Supper." But we commune with God through prayer and through the Bible which is the Word of God. As we partake of scripture correctly and apply scripture to our lives, we "eat and drink" the flesh of Jesus and the blood of Jesus. This is "The Lord's Supper." Therefore those who wrongly apply scripture, "eat and drink" damnation to themselves. I Corinthians 11 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself (as he reads Bible), and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. *** Matthew 15 1-2 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do Thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. 3 But HE answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto ME with their mouth, and honoureth ME with their lips; but their heart is far from ME. 9 But in vain they do worship ME, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. *** In February, 2021, a pastor of a Baptist church in Georgia (USA), announced to the world news media that homosexuals and lesbians were welcome to come to their church. This is shockingly against the Bible. Romans 1:26-28 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; When I read this on CNN International, I thought of how close we must be getting to the return of Jesus and the great tribulation and the end of this world! For when the churches fall away from scripture this way, we draw much closer to the end. The Southern Baptist Convention removed that Baptist church in Georgia from their association of approved churches. They said they were removed because they went against the "tradition" of the Baptist church. (They did not mention any scripture at all, just "tradition.") Even the Southern Baptist Convention pulled away from citing scripture. (antichrist and the end times) In The Bible, we read the following concerning homosexuals and lesbians: Romans 1:26-28 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; When we, who are of God, give a reason for doing something, it should be because of a scripture in the Bible and we should present that scripture for all to see. *** But to be approved by man, many omit Bible. The Bible, the scriptures, are the only thing keeping antichrist back. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only HE who now letteth will let, until HE be taken out of the way. When Jesus, THE WORD, the Holy Scriptures, are removed, then antichrist moves into the church. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of HIS mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of HIS coming: The apostle Paul said antichrist was already there in the churches, among the elders even, just waiting until Paul was out of the way so he could move in and speak perverse things to the church. Acts 20:29-30 Paul says to the elders of the church at Ephesus: For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. The apostle John also told us there were "many" antichrists in his day coming into their church. They came into their church, in John's time, and stayed there until they saw they could not take over and speak their perverse doctrines, and then they left. I John 2:18-19 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. Many denominations came as a result of those who did not want to follow sound doctrines in the church groups. These denominations set up their own doctrines and left the doctrines of Christ. They set up their own churches by their own fleshly preferences. Some churches even use some scripture for a time, only to "fall away" from that instruction and set up other teachings by their own thinking to please men. It seems unreasonable to say: * whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. (The man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery) Words spoken by Jesus in Matthew 5:32 * Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. (I Corinthians 7:10-11 ... a commandment of the Lord says Paul) * For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. (Romans 7:2-3) If the divorced woman remarries, she commits adultery. * Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. (Words of Jesus in Mark 10:11-12) * The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. (I Corinthians 7:39) * But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. (Word of Jesus in Matthew 32:5) - Man who divorces "a faithful wife" will be the cause of her adultery if she remarries. - Faithful wife who has been divorced by her husband commits adultery if she remarries after divorce. - Man who marries divorced woman commits adultery. When churches change the doctrines of Christ away from the New Testament Bible, they fall away from the Word of God and this allows antichrist to come into that church group and reign over the church group. *** The Catholic church once taught their followers that if a woman was divorced and she remarried it was a sin. Also they taught that a man could not marry a divorced woman. But they taught no scripture to back up their rules. (Also the Catholics taught their followers that they could not read the Bible for they would not understand the Bible and they might get it wrong.) And more than once, I have heard Catholic individuals say their church told them they did not need to read the Bible, for the Catholic priest would tell them what they needed to know.) *** The current Southern Baptist Convention is now stating that they do not welcome to their churches homosexuals or lesbians because it is against their "tradition", but they present no scripture. As time goes by, they change their rules in their churches, falling away from the doctrines of the scripture of the New Testament Bible, and this is antichrist in the churches. Their followers often do not know what God says in the Holy Bible about these subjects. When we say what we believe, we must also tell the scripture upon which our belief is based, otherwise the doctrine is weakened and we get to the point we don't know if this is really what God says or not. *** Satan came to Eve to cause Eve to doubt that which God said: Genesis 3:1 Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? The devil is the father of lies. Even in his statement to Eve, he presented perversion of the word from God, for devil said, "every" tree? No, God didn't say "every" tree. The devil twists scripture. (When I recall a scripture, I like to go to that exact scripture in the Bible, for the devil has a way of adding things which are not in the scripture. So I like to read that section of scripture from the Bible and check exactly what the Bible says to us.) Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (See how the devil twisted this scripture when he spoke with Eve.) Jesus said this concerning the devil. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And when we fail to quote exact scripture, we are beginning the falling away from scripture. Soon it becomes tradition and something other than the exact word from God. Then we, too, fall away from scripture. We must deal very carefully with the Word of God and quote that word correctly to others even when they will not understand. The scripture is all that stands between us and antichrist. Do not try to lure people to yourself. Speak the pure Word of God and let them depart if they wish to do so. I Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Timothy 4:2-3 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; *** Other scriptures in this Podcast: II Corinthians 6 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be MY people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. *** When we speak the exact scriptures to them, they will often depart from us when they are unbelievers. If the unbeliever depart, let him depart. They will be as thorns in our sides and pricks in our eyes if they are unbelievers and we try to be with them. Numbers 33:55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. By speaking the scriptures, we drive the unbelievers away from us. If they agree with scripture, when we speak, then they will be saved and given the Spirit of God. I Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But as long as an unbeliever chooses to come around you, speak the Word of God as the Spirit brings that word to your mind.

TEMPO DE REFLETIR 01690 – 01 de março de 2026 Marcos 10:49 – Parou Jesus e disse: Chamai-o. Jesus havia completado Seu ministério na Galileia. Ele avança rumo à antiga cidade de Jerusalém para o último ato do drama. Ao passar por Jericó, a 25 quilômetros de distância, Sua jornada é subitamente interrompida pelos gritos do cego Bartimeu, assentado à margem do caminho. Sabendo que a multidão que passa é liderada por Jesus, ele começa a fazer um grande alvoroço. “Jesus, Filho de Davi, tem compaixão de mim” (v.7), ele grita. Acima do barulho da multidão, Jesus ouve o pedido de socorro. A ação verbal aqui é de poderosa eloquência: “Parou Jesus” (v. 49). Mestre na arte de parar em tributo à pessoa em necessidade, Ele interrompe a jornada em completa atenção a esse cego, marginalizado dentro do sistema social e religioso. De acordo com o dogma da retribuição, esses desafortunados estavam pagando os pecados de seus pais ou os próprios pecados. O exercício do sacerdócio fora proibido aos cegos e deformados (Lv 21:17-21), mas aquilo que era algo específico, apenas em relação ao sacerdócio, foi generalizado. Não eram considerados dignos de ajuntar-se à guerra escatológica entre os eleitos contra as hostes de Belial e muito menos de partilhar do banquete messiânico. Aqui Jesus Se eleva acima das regras religiosas inventadas para segregar seres humanos. Com esse ato, Jesus está dizendo: “Você conta. Você tem valor”. Extraordinário! Com tempo limitado para Sua estupenda missão, nunca O encontramos apressado. Em nenhuma circunstância está ocupado demais. Nunca afetado ou “graduado”, que não pudesse parar para atender a quem O buscasse. Em Jesus, não encontramos a frase comum hoje: “Falo com você depois”. “Chamai-o”, é Sua ordem. A multidão que fora incapaz de fazer o cego calar-se, agora passa a encorajá-lo: “Tem bom ânimo […] Ele te chama” (v.49). Esse é Seu último milagre relatado em Marcos. A sombra da cruz já se projeta sobre Ele, a caminho de Jerusalém, onde a traição, o abandono e as últimas gotas do cálice O aguardam. Ainda assim, Ele toma tempo para esse pobre fragmento humano. Que estímulo extraordinário para buscá-Lo! Que grande estímulo para atender os que nos buscam em necessidade! Muchos nos aferrábamos a lo poquito que teníamos o habíamos aprendido y al descubrir la verdad en Jesús nos dimos cuenta que nuestros pensamientos no concordaban con los de Dios, y que por causa de las mentiras que teníamos metidas en nuestras cabezas nuestras vidas se convirtieron en un rotundo fracaso.Aunque seamos creyentes y hayamos recibido a Cristo en nuestros corazones como nuestro Señor y Salvador, el proceso de cambio no ha terminado, aún tenemos que enfrentar batallas, todavía tenemos que lidiar con nuestros propios pensamientos, con argumentos que se levantan contra nuestras vidas y con ideas contrarias a la mente del Señor, tendremos que superar y vencer ideales religiosos, mentiras espirituales, paradigmas equivocados y creencias erróneas.Y a sabiendas de todas estas cosas, muchas veces adquirimos compromisos con el mundo que no coinciden con nuestras convicciones, y al permitirlos, contaminamos nuestra vida; el sistema del mundo es un sistema diabólico; lo que es normal para el mundo es diabólico para el reino de los cielos; pero cuando el Señor nos da vida ya no podemos ir a favor de la corriente de este mundo, está escrito en 2 Corintios 6:14 “No os unáis en yugo desigual con los incrédulos; porque ¿qué compañerismo tiene la justicia con la injusticia? ¿Y qué comunión la luz con las tinieblas?”, son dos mundos diferentes, opuestos entre si, antes estábamos de acuerdo con Belial y ahora estamos en la corriente de Cristo, antes estábamos de acuerdo con las tinieblas mas ahora estamos de acuerdo a la luz.En consecuencia de todo esto, nos convertimos en enemigos de Dios, Santiago 4:4 "¡Oh almas adúlteras! ¿No sabéis que la amistad del mundo es enemistad contra Dios? Cualquiera, pues, que quiera ser amigo del mundo, se constituye enemigo de Dios”. El mas grande de todos los problemas de la iglesia de hoy es que nos estamos mezclando con las corrientes de este mundo, a través de las redes sociales, a través del internet, ya que estos medios promueven la corriente de Belial, promueven la corriente del infierno y hoy por hoy lo llaman tendencia y cultura.Todos los que amamos a Dios, debemos de una vez por todas evaluar los compromisos que hemos adquirido con el mundo ante el gran compromiso al que fuimos llamados por Dios; cada uno de nosotros es responsable directo de su llamado y sus convicciones, ya que cada día estamos tomando decisiones que afectan nuestro llamado en Cristo Jesús, escuche esto. “Todas nuestras decisiones apuntan hacia nuestro propósito en la tierra”, por lo tanto quiéralo o no nosotros tenemos que ser rechazados por no vivir, ni pensar, ni actuar como los que están en el mundo.El problema radica en que estamos sembrando semillas a la largo de nuestra vida y debemos entender que “La Gracia” no anula la cosecha de lo que sembramos, cuando aceptamos compromisos con el mundo estamos sembrando semillas de iniquidad, de pecado, de comportamientos mundanos en todas las áreas de nuestra vida y al final todo lo que sembremos, eso también recogeremos. Esos compromisos con el mundo se convierten en burlas hacia Dios y definitivamente “Dios no puede ser burlado”; hay burlas que se destacan en estos últimos tiempos, numero algunas:Predicar en medio del pecado.El diario vivir contradice lo que somos.La ética, la santidad, la integridad pasan a un segundo plano.Muchos han hecho de la burla un estilo de vida, esta generación llama sacrificio y ofrenda a lo que no es, llamamos “La adoración, una cultura y no un estilo de vida”, hay palabras que se han dejado de decir en las predicaciones, hay mensajes bíblicos que se han esfumado y lo peor de todo es que creemos que Dios está ajeno a lo que hacemos, que solo nos mira en días de culto; recuerda que los ojos de Dios no se apartan ni de la tierra ni de su creación: Proverbios 15:3, 2 Crónicas 16:9, Salmos 33:13-14. Dios te mira en el tempo, en el trabajo, en el baño, en el tic tok, en las redes sociales, y entonces tenemos que preguntarnos, ¿en que momento el hombre se volvió mas temerario que Dios, en que momento se perdió el temor de Dios.La Biblia registra personas que se burlaron de Dios: “Faraón, Sansón, Saúl, Nabucodonosor, entre otros”, pero hoy voy a mencionar el caso de Faraón.Veamos Éxodo 5:2 “Y Faraón respondió: ¿Quién es Jehová, para que yo oiga su voz y deje ir a Israel? Yo no conozco a Jehová, ni tampoco dejaré ir a Israel”.Faraón no conoció a Dios, pero conoció su poder; le envió 10 plagas, le quitó su primogénito, le quitó su ejercito, perdió todo en un pequeño lapso de tiempo. Egipto un imperio inigualable, un sistema de gobierno y desarrollo avanzado fue tocado por Dios y en un instante fue destruido e hirió el orgullo más grande de un hombre: “Su hijo, su primogénito muerto en sus brazos”.Dios destruyó un impero por la soberbia de un hombre que en algún momento dijo “¿Quien es Dios?”, recuerda Dios no puede ser burlado y hoy a lo mejor estas cosechando la burla que hiciste a Dios, a los intocables se les olvida que toda la creacionista se sujeta al creador.Quiero que a través de esta palabra hagas un alto en el camino y entiendas que: «Todo lo que el hombre sembrare, eso también segará».El Señor da principios en las Escrituras que cumplen la función doble de advertirnos y alentarnos. Su Palabra dice: «No os engañéis; Dios no puede ser burlado: pues todo lo que el hombre sembrare, eso también segará» Gálatas 6:7. Esta es una ley inalterable que afecta a todas las personas en todas las áreas de la vida, la familia, el trabajo.Los agricultores entienden el significado de este principio: cosechamos aquello que sembramos, más de lo que sembramos y después de sembrarlo. Veamos cada parte del principio para asegurarnos de entender todo lo que implica.El principio se aplica a todos, tanto creyentes como incrédulos. Este principio es irrevocable; nadie escapa sus consecuencias porque es una ley de la vida. ¿Nota cómo empieza Gálatas 6:7? «no os engañéis; Dios no puede ser, burlado». Esta es la causa del estilo de vida libertino e indulgente de muchos: se han engañado. Bien sea porque no creen la verdad, o piensan que de alguna manera son la excepción a la ley de Dios.El que se atreve a burlarse de Dios cree que sabe más que Él. Living Set Apart as God's Covenant People Please turn in your Bibles to 2 Corinthains 6. We'll be looking at verses 14 through chapter 7, verse 1. You can find that on page 1148. The question that remains is “what does that mean?” What needed to happen in the church for them to be restored? And that question is answered in our verses this morning. Reading of 2 Corinthians 6:14 to 7:1 Prayer #1: Be not unequally yoked (6:14) Do not be unequally yoked. You've likely heard that phrase in verse 14 before. But what does it actually mean? And how does it apply? Those are the two critical questions in this text. Being yoked is not used much in our common vernacular today. And that's because the term is a farming term used back when animals powered the farm equipment. If you go to a modern farm today, you will likely find massive tractors. They have air conditioning. They are driven by GPS. The farmer can be working on other business in the cab while his combine is harvesting the crop. But of course, that is not how it used to be. No, before the tractor, animals like oxen, or horses, or mules would be hitched together. A wood harness was carved with neck shaped holes that would fit over two animals. That wood harness was called a yoke. The yoke would have ropes or cables that would attach to other devices, which would either pull a wagon or a plow or some other farming implement. The whole purpose of the yoke was to balance the load so both animals would equally pull the load behind them. However, if a farmer tried to put a horse and an ox together, or a horse and donkey or a mule and ox, those animals would be unequally yoked. That's where the phrase comes from. And it didn't work well. The farmer would have a big problem. Even if a horse and an ox had similar strength, they have different gates, different heights, different temperaments, and different speeds. It would be difficult to plow in a straight line. The yoke itself would dig into the necks of both animals. It often caused them to be restless and could result in chaos, especially if one of the animals started bucking or kicking or biting. So to be unequally yoked is to be mismatched in a way that is untenable. It's unworkable. It ought not be done. In verse 14, the apostle writes, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.” Now, I'm guessing that many of you have heard this verse before. And likely you've heard it applied to marriage. Right? However, there's nothing in the entire book of 2 Corinthians about marriage. There's only one reference to a husband and that is in chapter 11. But that reference is explicitly about Christ as our husband, betrothed to us, his bride, the church. In other words, when Paul wrote verse 14, he was not explicitly writing about marriage. Now, to be sure, a second or third layer of application could be about marriage. After all, marriage is the most intimate partnership between a man and a woman. So, verse 14 would certainly have relevance. And we do learn elsewhere in the Bible that we should only marry “in the Lord.” My point is that the context of verse 14 is not about marriage. You ask, then, what was the apostle Paul referring to in verse 14? Well, think about this. We've been studying 2 Corinthians now for 4 full months. What has been the big issue in the church in Corinth? The big issue has been false teachers. There was a group who claimed to be apostles, but who were teaching “a different gospel” (as Paul put it) and whose lives did not display godliness. So, with whom should the church in Corinth not be yoked? They should not be yoked with this group. And in verse 14, how does Paul refer to them? He calls them “unbelievers.” They had been received into the church… at least by some… but they should not have been. And Paul calls on the church to separate themselves from partnering with them. Let me make one more contextual comment. In our 2 Corinthians study, we've also considered the city of Corinth. Corinth, if you remember, was very religious in a pagan sort of way, and also culturally diverse. The temple of Aphrodite overlooked the city – she was the so-called goddess of love. Corinth had a big prostitution problem and had many idols. In Paul's first letter to the church there, he addresses many of these sins. In fact, the language in our text this morning shares many parallels to 1 Corinthians chapter 10 … especially in regard to idols and partnering with demons. The Corinthian church was not be unequally yoked with either the false teachers or the broader secular and pagan community. Furthermore, we're not just told “to be not unequally yoked,” but we're also given some explanation. Look again at verses 14-16, again. You'll notice 5 questions. The next 5 sentences are 5 rhetorical questions. These are very helpful.. They not only answer why, but they also explain what being “unequally yoked” involves. Look at the 5 questions. Every single one begins with the word “what?” And immediately following the word “what” is a description of the kind of relationship to which Paul refers. He says, “what partnership.” Then next, “what fellowship” and then third “what accord” and then “what portion” and finally “what agreement.” That's very helpful, isn't it? Each of those words implies an intentional alignment between two parties. It insinuates a purposeful agreement. The word “partnership” and “fellowship” are particularly helpful words. The Greek word partnership involves a shared purpose. And the word fellowship is even deeper. It's the word koinonia. It's a purpose-driven alignment when working together. In other words, the emphasis is on the ministry of the church in coordination and partnership with others. The emphasis is not relationships that we have with our friends and neighbors and co-workers. The Holy Spirit is not saying through Paul that Christians should separate themselves from the world. Not at all. Christians are called to love their neighbors. In our communities, we should seek to be friends with those whom God places in our lives. We are to be a light in the world. We are called to serve and show mercy and also to receive help from others in our times of need, no matter who is seeking to help. Even in our worship, we welcome anyone and everyone to worship with us. As you know, we do have membership vows that confirm what we believe, but the invitation to join us for our public worship is for all. Do you see the difference? These verses are about a purposeful partnership with others in matters of belief and ministry. Several years ago, there were a few churches in our denomination who learned this the hard way. They partnered with a weight loss ministry called Weigh Down. Their intention was good – the church wanted to help its members be healthy. It appeared on the outside that this partner ministry was an orthodox ministry. However, over time, it was revealed that the ministry founders did not believe in the Trinity! They didn't believe in what the Bible teaches about God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These churches didn't initially realize that, but to their credit, they quickly put an end to the ministry partnership. What was happening in Corinth was worse. The church had in part received people that were explicitly teaching things contrary to God's revealed Word. We also learned these people cared more about outward appearances and worldly standards than godliness. So, they shunned God's standards and they taught false doctrine, which basically meant they were not true believers in Christ. That helps to explain the contrasts in these rhetorical questions. Look at them one more time. · First, righteousness compared with lawlessness. That's in the first question. The difference is pursuing what God reveals in his word as good and right and pure and rejecting those things which go against his word. Lawlessness is essentially coming up with and living out your own standard contrary to God's revealed law. The two cannot be yoked together. · The second contrast is light with darkness. This is about truth verses error. A couple of chapters ago, remember “God who said, ‘let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give us the light (of what?)… the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” Light is knowledge about what is true. What is true cannot be partnered with what is false. · Next, I think the most striking comparison is there in verse 15 – Christ is contrasted with Belial. Beliel, by the way, is another name for Satan. It specifically refers to the personification of the antichrist – of Satan. For God's people who have been united to Christ, there is no place to have an earthly partnership with those whose doctrine and practice are diametrically opposed to the ministry and mission that God gives for his church. The last rhetorical question is there in the beginning of verse 16. “What agreement has the temple of God with idols?” Idolatry is replacing the worship of God with something else. Or in this case, worshiping something that is not God alongside of the true God. Idols were everywhere in Corinth. That was the way of the Roman and Greek culture of the time. They believed in little gods. They would make physical idols of wood and stone. They would ask these false gods to bring rain or fertility or to defeat their enemies. I remember someone telling me about a small village in southeast Asia. This community had a lake and at one point the lake needed to be drained. One of the side berms needed repair. Well, when the engineers drained the lake, they found hundreds of idols. People had thrown their small idols into the lake. When these little “g” gods did not fulfill their desires, they wanted to get rid of them in protest. Sadly, their idolatry either blinded them from seeing and believing in the true God, or it took their heart away from worshiping the true God in Christ. For us, our idols look very different. They're not usually made of wood and stone, but rather we fashion them in our hearts. For example, idols of materialism or money or success or pleasure… or sports …or politics …or technology. There are others. When the people of God unequally yoke themselves with idols or idol worshipers, they pollute the very temple of God. They pollute the church. Let me summarize: lawlessness undermines the righteousness of God, darkness supplants the truth of God, and idolatry pollutes the worship of God. All of that is introduced into the church through the yoke of unholy partnerships. I don't know if you've been following along with the sermon outline. If so, that wraps up point #1, Be not unequally yoked. 2. Live as temples of the living God That now brings us to #2: Live as temples of the living God You can think about it this way. Verses 14 up to the beginning of 16 are like the negative argument. They answer the question what should we avoid in order to not be unequally yoked. We should avoid partnering with lawlessness and darkness and idolatry. All of those are signs of unbelief and need to be avoided. And when we get to the second half of verse 16, there's a switch to the positive argument. Why should the church seek to be pure? And the answer is because we are temples of the living God! That statement was a radical and transformational teaching for first century Christians. For the Corinthians, this was not the first time they heard it. Three times in Paul's first letter to them, he tells them that they are temples of God. God's Holy Spirit dwells in them. God's very presence is in them. You see, until Jesus Christ came, the presence of God was centered in the tabernacle and then the temple. A big portion of the Old Testament ceremonies happened there. It emphasized two things: (1) the holiness of God and (2) the presence of God. · First, sacrifices were performed to symbolically cleanse the people – to make them holy. Ultimately that was fulfilled in Christ. · Second, the temple contained the holy of holies. It was behind a vary large and very thick curtain. Only the high priest could enter the holy of holies once a year. That's where God's presence and glory was found. But when Jesus died on the cross, the temple curtain was torn in two. The temple of God was no longer relevant. That's because believers in Christ are now temples of the living God. So, if you are a believer in Christ, God has made you holy and has given you his presence. You are united to him through the Holy Spirit by faith. To be sure, that does not mean you do not sin. Rather it means that God sees you as holy because of the holiness of Christ in you. Through the union that you have with Christ, you are holy and have the very presence of God in you. In that way, you are temples of the living God. And because of the status you have as being holy, you are called to live out that holiness by pursuing the righteousness in God. I want you to jump down to chapter 7 verse 1. Notice how it concludes this section, “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God” Again, “bringing holiness to completion.” It means that Christians should pursue holiness in our lives because God now sees us as holy. This directly relates to chapter 6:14 – “do not be unequally yoked.” 7:1 is the positive statement. Instead of being unequally yoked, cleanse yourselves from every defilement of body and spirit. In other words, since you are a holy people called by God, pursue holiness. God's will and desire for his church is that we be pure. Why? Well, that was point 1 – there's no place for lawlessness, darkness, or idolatry in those who are temples of the living Lord. Ok, let's go back up to the long quote. Do you see that there in verses 16-18? This is a very interesting Old Testament quote. That's because it doesn't just come from one place. It's a compilation of quotes from Exodus, Leviticus, Ezekiel, Isaiah, 2 Samuel, Jeremiah, and others. It displays an amazing cross section of God's redemptive plan and promises in the Old Testament. These 2 and 1/2 verses take us from God's law to his prophecies to the history of redemption… and to God's covenant promises. In fact, that's the thing that ties it all together. God's covenant with his people. You can see that in every phrase here. Let's look at them. · In the middle of 16, it begins with the covenant promise found in Exodus and Leviticus. The promise is that God would dwell with his people. That certainly ties to being temples of the living God… does it not? · And then next, another covenant promise that God would be our God and we would be his people. Do you see that there at the end of 16? That quote is actually found in multiple places... Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah, as we read earlier in the service. · Then verse 17 is from the prophet Isaiah. The covenant people of God should separate themselves from uncleanness. That's the outworking of being a people called out by God for his glory and honor. · And finally verse 18 comes from 2 Samuel chapter 7. That's when the prophet Nathan gave King David God's covenant promise. Part of the promise is that God would be the Father of one of his sons in his line. Also included there is that many will be called sons and daughters through this promised son. And of course, those promises are ultimately fulfilled in Christ. I know that is a lot to take in. But the point is that God has called a covenant people to himself. And part of that calling is to be a set apart and holy people. So, to tie this all together… the command to be not unequally yoked (verse 14) and instead to bring holiness to completion (chapter 7 verse 1) HAS BEEN God's plan and purpose from the very beginning. God wants his church to be pure. He wants us to pursue righteousness and to faithfully teach and believe in the truths found in his Word. Any diversions from that corrupts the temple of the living Lord. About 100 years ago, a crisis was happening in the church here in the United States. This affected multiple denominations. Ministers were no longer required to believe in basic truths about the Christian faith. There were 5 fundamental beliefs that a pastor did not have to believe: (1) they didn't have to believe in Jesus's divine nature. (2) or the virgin birth of Christ (3) or Jesus physical resurrection. (4) or the substitutionary atonement of Christ – meaning that Jeus died to pay the penalty for sinners. Or (5) the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible – that one really leads to all the rest. In several denominations, you could be ordained as a pastor without believing in one or more of those things. But each of those things is core to the Christian faith. To not believe in them is to violate the truths found in 2 Corinthians 6:14 to 7:1. You see, sadly, a cancer had infiltrated the church. That cancer began to spread. It slowly multiplied until it metastasized… it reached the very heart of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, not all denominations were affected. And to be sure, some true believers remained in those churches and sought to steer them back to faith in Christ. But it was an uphill battle. To use the language of the book of Revelation chapters 2 and 3… If a church abandons its first love, that is Christ, God will snuff out their lampstand. It has been 100 years, but the broader church in the United States is still suffering from the unbelief. And it all started by being unequally yoked with unbelievers. There are, of course, many examples recent times that violate these verses in 2 Corinthians. And we should not believe that we are immune from this. We should always be evaluating whether we are being faithful to teach what God has spoken. And we should always be evaluating whether we are living as temples of the living… God seeking to bring holiness to fulfillment. May we, here at Tucker Pres, seek to honor God in our words and actions…both individually and as a church. May we be not unequally yoked, but rather may we seek to be temples of the living Lord… bringing holiness to completion in the fear and worship of our God.

(Genesis 3:15) The teaching of salvation is wonderfully simple in Scripture. God has made a way for man to be saved from himself, from his sin, from the wrath of God. Nothing else is more important than knowing the answer to the question: "What must I do to be saved?" (0956250304) ----more---- The Question of Salvation Some questions in this world are more important than others because some questions affect not only time. They affect all of eternity. Questions like what think you of Christ. Or how about this question, sirs? What must I do to be saved? Soteriology: The Doctrine of Salvation We've come in our study of what God says in the word of God to a subject that is of supreme importance because it affects where you're gonna spend eternity. And that is what the Bible says about salvation. Perhaps no other doctrinal subject has been more debated and more discussed and more misunderstood. Then the doctrine of salvation. And yet in scripture, there's a beautiful simplicity to the message of salvation. The First Promise of a Savior I want us to begin where God begins with the very first promise of a savior. It's found all the way back in the Book of Genesis, in Genesis chapter three. It's a great reminder that Jesus Christ truly was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. That from the very Garden of Eden, God viewed Golgotha. In fact, before he ever created Adam. In the mind of God, his precious son, the Lord Jesus Christ was already on the cross. From the beginning of time, God intended to redeem fallen humanity, and that's revealed in Genesis chapter three and verse number 15, where the Bible says God speaking, "And I will put iny between thee." That's the devil between the and the woman. "And between thy seed and her seed, it shall bruise thy head and thou shall bruise his heel." Now Genesis three 15. It's easy to breeze over it, but Oh, don't do that. Mark it in your Bible and mark it in your heart, because Genesis three 15 is the very first promise in the Bible that a Messiah was coming, that a redeemer, a savior was coming. And in it we find the very first message concerning the doctrine of salvation. Remember, someone has said that the first 11 chapters of the Book of Genesis are a seed bed of doctrine, and that every great doctrine in the Bible can be found there in seed form. And when you come to the New Testament, you find those same doctrinal truths just in more fully developed form. We've been discussing from the Book of Genesis what the Bible says about man who man is. We've discussed what the Bible says. About sin, but now we come to the good news. Aren't you glad that the God who made man and the God who knew we would sin provided salvation? He made a way so that we could be saved. Understanding Our Need for Salvation Now, what are the basic lessons we learned from Genesis three 15? The first is that man is a sinner. That we are fallen. You don't need a savior unless you have been separated from God. Something has come between you and God. So the very first thing we must remember in the doctrine of salvation is that everybody needs it. Remember what Jesus said in Luke chapter 19, verse number 10, he said, "For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." People have to understand they're lost before they can understand what it means to be saved or even have a desire to be saved. We might say it this way. You have to understand the bad news before you can appreciate the good news. The good news. That's the gospel of the death and the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But frankly, who cares that he died was buried and rose from the dead if there wasn't a necessity for that, but there wasn't a necessity because we're all sinners. Romans chapter three, verse number 23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." We needed a savior. So it brings us to the second great truth. God's Provision of a Savior The first is that man is a sinner, and the second is that God alone can provide a savior. God is the savior. He promised that the seed of the woman would come. That's the lovely Lord, Jesus Christ. That's why it's important that we acknowledge that Christ was born of a virgin. He didn't come through Adam's lines. Sin was passed down from Adam to the next generation through the mainstream of humanity. But he did not come from Adam. He came from God through a virgin Mary. The seed of the woman and the seed of the woman when he came for one purpose. And that purpose was to redeem fallen humanity, to restore us to God, to bring us back to the righteous God. Our sins separated us from the Lord, but Jesus Christ came for one purpose, and that is that we could be saved. John chapter three, verse 16 says, "For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life." No man cometh unto the father, but by me. How about Acts 4:12? "Neither is there salvation in any other. For, there's none of the name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved." The verse that I quoted at the beginning of our study today, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Here's the answer in Acts 16"31 "And they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved, and thy house." Salvation is not an institution. Salvation is not a, process of turning over a new leaf and trying to be a better person. It's not a 12 week program you go through. Salvation is not coming to know some human being here on earth. It's not being baptized. It's not all of the externals. Salvation is one thing. Salvation is a person. His name is Jesus Christ. Receiving Salvation Through Faith And you receive salvation when you receive the person of Jesus Christ. John chapter one, verse number 12 says, "But as many as received him to them, gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Here are the two key words, receive and believe. How do you receive salvation? You receive salvation by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. You receive salvation the moment you put your simple faith in Christ and Christ alone for your soul's salvation. Many years ago, just as a child, I came to God in simple repentance and faith. I didn't even know all the right words, all the doctrinal terms, but that's what happened that day. I came to God and I confessed that I was a sinner and couldn't save myself, and I called on the Lord and God kept his promise. Oh, what a glorious promise. Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Salvation is not something. It is someone, and His name is Jesus. A Call to Believe and Rejoice I hope you'll come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior. If you've never believed on the Lord Jesus, would you look to him right now in simple faith? Would you pray a simple prayer, faith from your heart to God? He's listening. At this moment. He's listening. He wants to hear your cry. Simply say to Him, "Lord, I'm a sinner and I can't save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior." Look to Christ and be saved today. And if you are a Christian, rejoice in it and never get far from the simplicity of the gospel. The Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Coreth and he said, "I fear that is the serpent Belial through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." He went all the way back to Genesis and he said, "As sneaky as that old serpent was in the garden, he's just as deceitful and deceptive today. Don't let him get you arguing and debating lots of things, and forget that salvation is very simple. It is the Lord Jesus Christ and Christ alone." They asked John Newton - the man who wrote, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound who saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see." They ask him on his deathbed at the end of his life. His mind was about gone. His memory had slipped, and they said, John Newton, "What do you remember?" And Newton's response was simple but profound. He said, "There are many things I do not know at this stage in life, but there are two things I remember. One is that I am a great sinner, and two is that He is a great Savior." Friend, that is the essence of salvation. That is what the Bible says. These plagues include sores, frogs, and hailstones, which can be attributed to demons like Lucifer, Bufonite, and Belial. The biggest bowl, Super Bowl 56, takes place on the eve of Valentine's Day or Lupercalia, a Roman festival of cleansing and fertility heavily focused on the goat, dog, and wolf. These creatures also act as guides in the Underworld throughout various mythologies that involve the soul/spirit of the butterfly and the shadow-self. The Big Game kicks off with the horned beasts, the Rams, against the Bengal Tigers. The 56th Halftime performers include Dr Dre, the GOAT, and Snoop Dogg, the dog or Lion, as his other name suggests. The Lion/Tiger and Goat also appear in images of Bauer and Azazel. The dog can be found in Cerberus. The other performers are Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar, all three aligned with the High Priestess, the shadow self, and the butterfly of the soul. Lupercalia also initiates the new year, and in 2022 it is that of the Tiger. The Chinese called Sagittarius the tiger, otherwise known as the archer linked to Jupiter, Ammon, Orion, Osiris the Hunter, Cupid, and Otherworldy guides like Anubis, the jackal. Combing these symbols at Halftime, coupled with the teams playing in the game, there is certainly enough to pick through for meanings that are both present and non-existent, including commercials depicting Zeus/Jupiter. These archetypes and themes can be used to summon the most Divine or the most Infernal. When Eminem says "it must be the ganga", implying marijuana, there is the possibility that the rap community is referring to Ganga-Gramma, the demon who pours out bowls with a pitchfork.
