In 1997, 18 months after having dropped the double LP, Load, Metallica did the unthinkable, they dropped a second double LP entitled Reload.Though these albums were intended to be a single project, they eventually became two.Join Nik and Duncan as they dig into the songs from this record that don't really get a whole lot of attention.
In 1999, Ed Hunter is an in production video game that hastily shows Blaze Bayley his exit from Iron Maiden because they got offered too much money to reunite with Bruce Dickinson. Jim Morrison died on July 3rd, 1971. What many fans of the band didn't know is that at the time, the rest of the band were Stateside working on what was going to be the follow up to L.A. Woman in the hopes that Jim would return from Paris to complete it. He never did and the rest of the band carried on without him, at first all together, and later separate. It was 2005 and everybody was doing it, so Ozzy did it too, but he did it with serious backup. Ozzy enlists the allstar band of Mike Bordin of Faith No More on the drums. Chris Wyse of The Cult and later Ace Frehley on bass. What does he do about a six string gunslinger? He gets Jerry MF Cantrell of Alice In Chains. Now that he has this all star band to kill all all star bands does he set about writing an album the define his career and crush all comers? No. He does a covers record.
