Somebody needed to pick up the torch for hard rock and heavy metal with real grit and gusto and without a gimmick. Enter Who on Earth. The New Jersey outfit of Coosh [vocals], Pete Rizzi [bass], Johnny James Barone (guitar), Jimmy Kocha (guitar) and Howie Fallon [drums] — deliver a one-two punch of hard-hitting hooks and airtight instrumentation bolted down by pummeling grooves and piercing riffs. It all gestated from a question…“We wanted to fill in the blank of ‘Who On Earth is going to bring back good rock and metal?',” explains Pete. “We grew up on the new wave of British heavy metal and classic rock. We went through grunge and other great genres of metal. We wanted to resurrect the melodies, hooks, and guitar solos. We returned to our roots yet upgraded everything with modern production.”The group made their bones through countless gigs across the Tristate area in every dive bar and concert hall with a stage. Along the way, Andrew and Pete tore up venues as part of MadHaus, performing marathon covers. During 2021, the longtime friends chose to forego covers, hunker down, and compose an original album. The composing came easily, and in a short time, the founding fathers had 10 songs ready to go. To bring the record to life, the band hit the studio with none other than Mike Orlando (Category 7, Adrenaline Mob). Over the next year, the guys endured numerous COVID delays as they recorded with Orlando behind the board as producer, engineer, and “stunt” guitarist. Nodding to everyone from Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica to Rush, Alice In Chains, and Tool, they placed storytelling in the spotlight.“The New Jersey heavy rockers bring their signature grit and power to the 1979 classic, adding punchy riffs, thunderous drums, and raw energy while honoring the spirit of the original.“Somebody needed to pick up the torch for hard rock and heavy metal with real grit and gusto without a gimmick. Enter Who On Earth. The New Jersey quintet—Andrew Couche [vocals], Pete Rizzi [bass], Howie Fallon [drums], Johnny James Barone [guitar], and Jimmy Kocha [guitar]—deliver a one-two punch of hard-hitting hooks and airtight instrumentation bolted down by pummeling grooves and piercing riffs. The band continues to pay homage to rock's past as they usher in its future on their latest EP, Smoke & Mirrors.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.
S8E37 went out live from the TSORR Studio on Myoli Beach on 11 September 2025 at 19h00 on Rebel Rock Radio. This was a deeply emotional rollercoaster. The show is dedicated to several people who died this week through a combination of tragic criminality, psychopathy, madness, intolerance, and corruption. Charlie Kirk was assassinated for free speech and debating people, Bouwer Van Niekerk, for being a liquidations attorney who got too close to a corrupt crime mafia linked to people in the South African government, and Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee, was stabbed to death by a racist psychopath on a train in North Carolina. Paris is on fire with migrants and police in running battles. In Britain, people who are abused by their own government and jailed for Facebook posts and hurty words, while the same government allows children to be raped by grooming gangs, are preparing for the United Kingdom Free Speech Festival on Saturday, 13th September in London. And if that wasn't enough, it was the anniversary of 9/11. It's been 24 years since that awful tragedy, and right now it just feels like the whole world is going up in flames. They also discuss how Ace came to join Becoming Wolves, working with Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob and Category 7, as well as the differences in being in a signed band vs. being unsigned. After the formal questions are done, J-Bunny and Ace discuss the increasing cost of concerts, as well as bands they have seen. Podcast intro "Rock Intro 3" courtesy of audionautix.com. To celebrate our 7th anniversary, This week's guest is someone who was in my top five of dream guests when I started this podcast. Corey Glover is the lead singer of the Grammy-winning band Living Colour. The band's music has been a big part of my life since their landmark debut album, Vivid, came out in 1988. The double platinum album featured the song, Cult of Personality. It's one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time. Surprisingly, it wasn't the first single. Corey actually gives props to Epic, their record company for that decision. The song has a place in pop culture, most notably by CM Punk, the wrestler has used it as his entrance music for over a decade now. Corey's latest project is the band Sonic Universe. The band feature guitar Mike Orlando from Adrenaline Mob. Their debut album, It is what it is, drops on Friday. It's fantastic! Living Colour is still going strong as well. They're have shows this summer and new music should be coming next year.
In this FQF, Sonny is shining the spotlight on the Adrenaline Mob album "Covertà". Interview by Kris PetersCorey Glover has long been recognised as one of the finest vocalists of the modern era thanks to his role as frontman for Living Colour. It would be both easy and understandable for the singer to remain in the comforting confines of Living Colour, where his vocal prowess will always be beyond reproach, but Glover has never been one to rest on his laurels.Teaming up with guitarist Mike Orlando from Adrenaline Mob, Glover has started a fresh, vibrant project called Sonic Universe that allows him to display his chops in a different environment, with different musicians, to no less overall effect. If the two lead singles I Am and Higher are anything to go by, Sonic Universe sees Glover step into more hard rock territory, with both songs an extension of his work with Living Colour without rewriting the rulebook to excess. With Sonic Universe's debut album It Is What It Is scheduled for release on May 10, HEAVY scored some Facetime with the legendary vocalist to chat about his new project and more."All these songs are pretty personal," he began. "This song Higher, for example, is Mike's ambition at making a metal Gospel tune, and he got the right people to do it, I guess (laughs)."We ask Glover to tell us more about Sonic Universe and how it came to be."Me and Mike met on a cruise, on the ShipRocked cruise, we were both stowaways on that," he laughed. "I saw Mike playing and his guitar playing was like 'Holy Shit, who is that dude?' I was like, I gotta meet this guy, so I met Mike, and it turns out we all have a bunch of mutual friends, and we know a bunch of people so it was like 'look, let's get together and do something at some point'. And that was just before the pandemic. Some time after that, we got together. I would go to his place and studio called Sonic Sound, and we just banged out a bunch of tunes over the course of two years."In the full interview, Corey discusses Sonic Universe in greater detail, runs through each track on It Is What It Is individually and tells us more about it, why they decided to introduce the world to Sonic Universe with the song I Am, the album from a musical perspective and what they were going for, touring plans and more.

Episode 38 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio on 21 September 2023 at 19h00 sharp. It was as one of our Engineering Managers used to say “All stations dogs” which means.... well we never knew what it meant. The show built up nicely from a fairly gentle U2 opener to the sheer power of Orbit Culture and Philistine at the end of the show. Check out the Artists featured to see what we had in between. The Immortals track this week was War Pigs, the Black Sabbath classic, there was no argument about its choice. S6E35 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 31 August 2023. It was an auspicious occasion, my last day of work at a company I ran for the last 10 years. As a result, there is a thinly veiled theme of moving on, changes, new beginnings, disappearances etc, etc. This is demonstrated by the 3 opening tracks, ‘This is How I Disappear, ‘Let Me Out' and ‘Gotta Get Away'. Check out the Artists Featured below for the order of play. This week's Immortals Track featured Thin Lizzy off Live and Dangerous with ‘Still In Love With You. The Diabolical Challenge we went back to 1969 and checked out: The Who – Tommy (Pinball Wizard)Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country (Born on the Bayou)Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin II (Heartbreaker)The Rolling Stones – Let It Bleed (Gimme Shelter) Artists featured: My Chemical Romance, The Knack, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Tesla, W.A.S.P., Chickenfoot, Iron Maiden, Buckcherry, Paul Stanley, Ramones, The Clash, The Jam, Vandenberg, Nita Strauss & David Draiman, Adrenaline Mob, The Angels, Jet, Rory Gallagher, Butchering The Beatles, Volbeat, Steve Stevens, Theory of a Deadman, Thin Lizzy, the Who, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Marvelous 3, David Bowie, Johnathan Martin, John Mellencamp, In Flames, Leonard Cohen. A Dog Eat Dog ezért került a műsorba!
S6E20 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 18 May 2023. There is plenty to get your teeth into here. We have all the greatest rock and roll in the world, see artists featured below. The show starts off pretty fast-paced and delivers the goods via, Poison, Thin Lizzy, Stone Sour and a good mix of new and old. We had a new track called ‘I Come From The Dirt' from Texas Hippie Coalition. The album is called The Name Lives On and is well worth your time if you haven't heard it.We had a short, sharp, and very entertaining five-minute interview with Peter Toussaint from Fourth Son South and we took a listen to their brand new single 'The Moon'. As always with this weekly SA music presentation slot it went down very well. In this week's Ultimate Challenge, we looked at 1990 and there were a ton of killer albums released over those 365 days. The four that made the list were ACDC – The Razors Edge, Judas Priest – Painkiller, Queensrÿche – Empire, and Megadeth – Rust In Peace. I was studying hard for a degree in 1990 and these albums were part of the soundtrack which made them extra special. Due to technical reasons, ACDC dropped out and was replaced with Pantera - Cowboys From Hell. Queensrÿche took it from Megadeth but it was close. Earlier this week I did a Rock Review on Neil Young. If you missed it you can find it on podcast. On that Rock Review I wanted to play Neil's absolute classic track 'Cortez the Killer' but clocking in at 7:49 it would have swallowed up 11% of the show. I kept it for this week's Immortals track and it went down very well. For those who do not know TSORR Immortals are tracks that are considered too long for radio but that are classics and fully representative of what the band is capable of. The show ended fairly quietly by TSORR standards. the last 15 minutes is normally the heavier side of the show, for a change we were mellow with Bowie, Tom Petty, a rare Status Quo ballad, and The Killer's wonderful Miss Atomic Bomb. Hope you enjoy it, Artists featured: Poison, The Four Horsemen, Thunder, Thin Lizzy, U2, Texas Hippie Coalition, Stone Sour, Smith / Kotzen, Molly Hatchet, Adrenaline Mob, Phil Campbell, Ricky Warwick, Soundgarden, Five Finger Death Punch, Nashville Pussy, Green Day, Sum 41, Blink 182, Marvelous 3, Volbeat, Fourth Son South, Van Halen, Rainbow, BlackØwl, Doomsday Outlaw, Neil Young, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Pantera, Queensrÿche, Dave Hause, Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Status Quo, The Killers The Story of Rock and Roll. Episode 8 of Season 6 went out live at 7 pm on Rebel Rock Radio on 23 Feb 2023. 23 2 23 what a day, what a week what a 26-month journey. I am out of the game. Long live Rock and Roll. We kicked off this very unplanned show with Guns ‘n' Roses and ‘Anything Goes'. From there something brand new from Black Star Riders and something old from Badlands, an awesome track called ‘High Wire'. Mike Orlando from Adrenaline Mob gave us all guitar lessons on a track called 'Dearly Departed'. Grunge duty was fulfilled by Nirvana, Puddle of Mud, and Temple of the Dog. We checked out another track from Indian rockers Girish & the Chronicles and a track off their latest album Hail to the Heroes, featuring Lamb of God's drummer, the brilliant Chris Adler. There was an interesting little biographical bit all about 23 2 23 which has become a special day in the life of TSORR. I'll tell you about it if you want to know. We checked out ‘Lay Your Hands On Me' off Bon Jovi's New Jersey album, then Bowie with ‘Changes' and finally, U2 with ‘Beautiful Day' which it was. From there we checked out Metallica and all 7:50 of the Diamond Head classic ‘Am I Evil' which is this week's Immortal track. The Ultimate Challenge this week looked at 1973. The choices were Led Zeppelin – Houses of the Holy, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, The Rolling Stones – Goats Head Soup, and Black Sabbath's – Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. We hit the home stretch with some punk courtesy of Blink 182 and ‘Edging' then the Clash and The Stranglers and I couldn't resist Patti Smith and 'Rock ‘n' Roll Nigger',. We ended heavy with Death Angel and Slayer and said good night with ‘Langpad' by Cape Town legends The Uninvited. Artists featured: Guns ‘n' Roses, Black Star Riders, Badlands, Reef, Smith / Kotzen, Adrenaline Mob, Black Country Communion, Clutch, Moon Tooth, Nirvana, Puddle of Mudd, Temple of the Dog, Girish and the Chronicles, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Alice Cooper, KISS, Tesla, Rose Tattoo, Bon The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Blink 182, Jovi, David Bowie, U2, Metallica, ACDC, My Chemical Romance, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Blink 182, The Clash, The Stranglers, Patti Smith, Death Angel, Slayer, The Uninvited. We kicked episode 6 with a track called ‘Burning For You' a cover of a great track by Blue Öyster Cult, very well done here by Iced Earth. The show then got heavy with Killswitch Engage and Annihilator, with ‘Desperate Times' and 'Set the World On Fire' respectively. Both of these fall into the TSORR Songs that could be about South Africa category. Accept and Sinner gave us a taste of German metal and then we had Thundermother out of Sweden. There was a great little SA music segue early in the show where we checked out Jack Hammer Band with a pre-released track called 'As I Turn Away' and then a band out of Sekunda called Pilgrim South. Their new track 'Old Man Moonshine went down well. From there we were into familiar territory with Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Def Leppard. my love affair with Def Leppard's Mutt Lange produced Hi 'N' Dry album continues, we listened to 'Lady Strange'. Manic Street Preachers and a new-ish band I am not too familiar with called St. Aurora changed the pace a bit and then we started to delve into this week's Ultimate Challenge, 4 albums released in 1980 and you can only choose one. The albums selected were Judas Priest - British Steel, Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell, Motörhead - Ace of Spades, and ACDC - Back in Black. the votes came in but in the end, it was one-way traffic with the winner of this week's Ultimate Challenge going to Back In Black. The Immortal track was Gun ‘n' Roses with Estranged and we kept our punk confined to the USA with Iggy Pop, The Distillers, and Weezer. I had some problems with Brody Dalle squashed in the middle. This week I discovered Doomsday Outlaw, this track called ' Is This The End of Everything' features the kind of guitar tone and phrasing that I absolutely love. Talking guitar, a track off the new Winery Dogs with Richie Kotzen, Bily Sheehan, and Mike Portnoy hit the stop. Girish and the Chronicles are just simply blazing, what a band. We ended heavy with Ablaze My Sorrow off their new EP, and Phantom Days by Dark Tranquility. Oh, one last thing TSORR made No 12 on the list of top 35 Rock Podcasts on the planet, check it out right here:https://blog.feedspot.com/rock_and_roll_podcasts/?feedid=5328472Artists Featured: Iced Earth, Killswitch Engage, Annihilator, Bullets & Octane, Deaf Havana, Accept, Thundermother, Five Finger Death Punch, Sinner, Theory of a Deadman, The Cult, Alabama 3, Godsmack, Ozzy Osbourne, Jack Hammer Band, Pilgrim South, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Def Leppard, Adrenaline Mob, Manic Street Preachers, St. Aurora, Black Sabbath, Dan Patlansky, Hinder, Motörhead, Winery Dogs, Black Veil Brides, Guns ‘n' Roses, Iggy Pop, The Distillers, Weezer, Doomsday Cowboy, Girish & the Chronicles, ACDC, Ablaze My Sorrow, Dark TranquillityThe Story of Rock and Roll. Episode 34 of Season 5 kicked off on 25 August 2022 at 7 pm on Rebel Rock Radio. ACDC got us out the blocks with a track off Power Age called ‘Gone Shooting, We stayed in that style of rock and checked out The LA Maybe, a band out of the Carolinas, and an awesome track called 'Sucker Punch'. In recognition of the fact that the world is pretty fucked at the moment we took a listen to ex-Hanoi Rocks and glam icon Michael Monroe with a track called ‘Junk Planet'. Then we got heavy with Burn The Priest, the band that were Lamb of God before they became Lamb of God and a Melvins cover called 'Honey Bucket'. Then we followed on from last week with another track off Bring Me The Horizon's incredibly good album Sempiternal. One of the highlights of this show was an awesome track by SA band Fear of Falling, this was a new single they released called ‘All My Time'. SA music is world-class, always has been always will be. We took in some Metallica off Kill ‘Em All and then changed the tone with The Offspring and a track called 'Self Esteem'. Noodles on guitar got some love for his guitar sound. Ibanez and Pitbull Amps are apparently the secrets. 25 August is famous for being the birthday of two of the greatest rock stars the world has ever known, two guys who had a huge influence on me personally as a kid discovering this awesome music. I am talking about Gene Simmons and Rob Halford, to celebrate their birthdays, 73 and 71 respectively we took a listen to Gene with 'God of Thunder' off kiss Alive II and Rob with 'Victim of Changes' off Unleashed in the East. Those two albums got played to death when I was growing up and I used Kid Rocks' anthemic 'Still Something' off his latest album Bad Reputation to hammer home the point that in the 70s and 80s music rock music was special. From there it was Tom Petty followed by Bruce Springsteen with a lovely sentiment in his track “Further On (Up The Road) off The Rising. God remember that hey?, 9-11, seems like a lifetime ago and it took the Boss to put it all in perspective as only he can. The show went heavy again with a new band called The Halo Effect, made up of ex-members of In Flames and Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquility, it's well worth a listen, the album is called Days of the Lost. There was no way we were going anywhere without taking another track off the stupendous new Arch Enemy album, Deceivers, the track we heard was ‘Spreading Black Wings', from there is was My Chemical Romance and Oasis time and a bit of Billy idol thrown in for good measure. The end of the show was a bit self-indulgent and took us back to some good jols in Cape Town, the scene was set with Kobus!, The Uninvited with 'The Poultry Christ' and Fokofpolisiekar with some Neil Young thrown in. Kobus! with 'Die Volk Van Main' is a very special song, Theo Crous and Francois Blom got it right here. The only huge disappointment with all this was that after Neil Young I explained how we used to use Tom Waits to clear the Whammy Bar in Cape Town and then I said cheers and goodnight and I assume that I didn't hit the mic button so we have a 60 min silence and no Cheerio until Tom Waits takes us out with 'Mr Siegal. Sorry about that. Artists featured: ACDC, The L.A. Maybe, U.D.O., Michael Monroe, Warrant, Adrenaline Mob, Burn the Priest, Bring Me the Horizon, Fear of Falling, W.A.S.P., Metallica, The Offspring, Great White, Baton Rouge, Kiss, Judas Priest, Kid Rock, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, Jasper Dan, The Halo Effect, Texas Hippie Coalition, Arch Enemy, My Chemical Romance, Oasis, The Professionals, Billy Idol, Stiff Little Fingers, The Distillers, Kobus!, The Uninvited, Fokofpolisiekar, Neil Young, Tom Waits
This week we rejoin Night Demon for a three-show run in Germany on the European Attack tour in early June 2022. Our journey this week takes us from Weinheim to Oldenburg and finally to the vaunted Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen. You will hear about troublesome strobe lights in Oldenburg and why the guys were so eagerly anticipating the Rock Hard gig. Alas, vehicle troubles threatened to derail the entire enterprise, but Night Demon made it to the festival and delivered a blinder of a gig. Listen as the lads explain why it's one of the best shows they've ever done. But touring life is never easy, so the next day finds the band breaking down on the side of the road somewhere en route to Berlin, rationing Pringles potato chips and waiting for salvation.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. Episode 6 of season 5 aired on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 10 Feb 2022. It started off in an uncharacteristically chilled way with Cinderella and a track called 'One For Rock and Roll' off Heartbreak Station. From there it got a bit heavier and a lot more uptempo with Adrenaline Mob, featuring the phenomenal fretwork of Mike Orlando and then a track called 'Premonition' by Running Wild. The track was released in 2013 and makes a passing reference to the end of days and "unknown virus". Rocking Rolf probably feels pretty smug about that. From there we bounced around between poppy-type Night Ranger tracks and way more metallic stuff from Bewitcher off Cursed be thy Kingdom. I was told that it was once again time for the SONA, where the President takes a huge hit on the crack pipe and takes those who are interested on a fantastical journey of lies, fabrications, and pipe dreams. Once I became aware of this a theme of sarcastic chirps permeated the show. Cheap shots aplenty were taken when we listened to Keel - 'Die Fighting', The Clash - 'Police and Thieves, Stiff Little Finger - Fly the Flag, and We Are Augustines - Into the Abyss. Evanescence made their TSORR debut with 'Call Me When You're Sober and we added to that with some Halestorm and a track called 'I Am the Fire'. My favorite stretch of the show was Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden & Judas Priest. It went down well proving once again why the world's biggest bands are the world's biggest bands. We wound down with David Bowie, Iggy & the Stooges, and The Rolling Stones before we checked out with parkway Drive and Venom. I played Skid Row's 'This is Killing Me' just to mark the South African situation and express my feelings about it, the song is truly amazing and gets me every time. We closed out with Kobus! and 'Volk Van Main' dedicated to all of you amazing people who support TSORR, I am deeply grateful to you all. Artists featured: Cinderella, Adrenaline Mob, Running Wild, Night Ranger, Biters, Bewitcher, Keel, Gluecifer, Papa Roach, W.A.S.P., ACDC, Billy F. Gibbons, Exciter, Airbourne, Rory Gallagher, In Flames, Seether, Audioslave, Evanescence, Halestorm, The Clash, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, The Rolling Stones, Iggy & The Stooges, David Bowie, We Are Augustines, Parkway Drive, Venom, Skid Row, The Pretty Reckless, Kobus!
Episode 3 of Season 5 aired at 19h00 on 20 Jan 2022 on Rebel Rock Radio. We started with a nice little instrumental before diving into the strange waters of Legend of the Seagullmen and their song ' Rise of the Giant'. Following that we went back to 1989 and took a track off Badlands, a fantastic album released in 1987 by the band of the same name. That album was the first CD I ever bought, it is a seriously good album and belongs in every rock fans collection. This episode contained a higher percentage of the lesser-known bands than normal, I think it worked out pretty well. We took a heavy dose of what I would call Classic UK Punk; The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, and Sex Pistols. It is interesting to reflect on just how things have changed. In the sanitised world of 2022these songs are even more incendiary than they were in 1977. Or, am I just getting old? The early stuff was covered by Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull, The newer stuff by Ayron Jones and Me and That Man. The heavy came from Venom and Architects. We raised the issue of Valiant Swart's fundraiser and efforts to raise some cash so that his wife Lanelle can get treatment for a seriously debilitating condition that will need some support to sort out. TSORR wishes Valiant well in this effort and supports the initiative. As usual, we ran out of time just as we really got going and Neil Young closed the show with a track called 'Canerican' of his new album Barn. Artists featured: Bewitcher, Legend of the Seagullmen, Badlands, Devil's Train, Buckcherry, Alter Bridge, Glenn Hughes, Rhino Bucket, Seether, Nirvana, Volbeat, Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, Architects, Motörhead, Skid Row, Guns ‘n' Roses, W.A.S.P. Coheed & Cambria, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, Sex Pistols, John Mellencamp, Kid Rock, Adrenaline Mob, Five Finger Death Punch, Pirates of Radio, Drowning pool, Ayron Jones. Great White, ACDC, Queensrÿche, Valiant Swart, Me & That Man, Kadavar, Venom, Warrant, Neal Young & Crazy Horse

Episode 43 of Season 4 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio on 28 Oct 2021. It was politically charged, I had no choice. In the midst of load-shedding 4 times a day, labour unrest and trucks being burnt on the N3, South Africa is on its knees due to the disastrous ANC government. A rot started by Jacob Zum and perpetuated by Cyril Ramaposa is destroying the country. Municipal elections are taking place on 1 November, this show is inextricably linked to this point in time. We kicked off in party mode with My Chemical Romance and 'Vampire Money' off Danger Days. next up Massive Wagons off their 2020 release House of Noise. Then it was time for ACDC and it flowed from there. There were plenty of classic bands. We heard from the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Alice Cooper with 'Elected' (what else?). New stuff came from Joe Bonamassa off his new Time Clocks album, and from KK's Priest with 'Metal Through and Through'. Note that AA Milne is not in the band :-). As shows go it was pretty well balanced. We had Venom, the godfathers of today's metal, with a track called 'Don't Burn the Witch'. We had punk courtesy of The Stranglers and UK Subs, we had the blues with Joe Bonamassa and Rory Gallagher, we had amazing guitarists in Mr Big, Winery Dogs and with Gary Moore. Reference was made to the situation with the songs. For example, We had The Cruel Sea with 'Anybody But You', Adrenaline Mob with 'Judgement Day', 'Race to Extinction' from Accept, and, another track possibly written about the SA government titled 'Straight From Hell' by Helloween, In the end, we had some good positivity with Little Steven and 'Out of the Darkness' which I sincerely hope I will be able to report on favourably next week. We shall see. Artists featured: My Chemical Romance, Massive Wagons, ACDC, The Rolling Stones, The Cruel Sea, Seether, Accept, Helloween, Anthrax, Ratt, Bad Company, Billy Talent, Soundgarden, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, KK's Priest, Adrenaline Mob, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Great White, Venom, The Stranglers, UK Subs, Anti-Flag, The Donnas, The Cult, Rush, Killswitch Engage, Avenged Sevenfold, Joe Bonamassa, Rory Gallagher, Mr Big, The Winery Dogs, Gary Moore, Judas Priest, Metallica, Little Steven, Richard O'Brien, The Uninvited
Bryan and Chris discuss alienation and its role in bringing people into metal and also how metal can alienate metalheads from others. Why is metal so scary and off-putting to those who don't know and understand it? Why is there such a stigma for metalheads? Why do people think we are scary or unintelligent or dirty? The professors also talk about the role of the Satanic Panic and the oft-repeated notion that metal is dead. This time around, Bryan has been listening to Ozzy, and Chris has been listening to Adrenaline Mob and Thank You Scientist. S4E30 aired on 7 Oct 2021 on Rebel Rock Radio. We had the threat of load shedding once again but the power utility waited until the show was over before cutting us off. I am grateful for that but the fact that they haven't been able to turn it back on against is an extreme source of irritation. So, we started with 'Troublesome Times' by Texas Hippie Coalition and then went to Germany to catch Devils Train and a track called ' You and Me'. We went old school with Saxon and Michael Schenker and then all the way back to the '70s for some Deep Purple and Grand Funk Railroad. Dan Patlansky took care of the Blues with a track of his Perfection Kills album and then we checked out the KK's Priest album Sermon of a Sinner now that it is finally all released. It is fully cool and the guitar work between KK and A.J. Mills is spectacular. Then there was an update on the incredible story of Richie Faulkner having a heart attack on stage while playing the final track 'Painkiller'. Richie has become the most metal oke on earth after finishing the song. While his aorta ruptured filling his chest with blood, he faultlessly played all his solos and once the show was over was taken off to hospital and a ten and a half hour operation. He is OK and we wish him a speedy recoveryThe new Guns 'n' Roses was great, we checked the new track called 'Hard Skool' and then said happy 70th birthday to John Mellencamp, can you believe he is 70! We got our punk from The Stranglers and Stiff Little Fingers and then we checked out two tracks about the Orca, one from Legend of the Seagullmen and then a most poignant look at the plight of this most marvelous creature through the eyes of Johnathan Martin. The song is extremely touching if you allow yourself to really connect with what he is saying. We finished off with two very South African tracks that may be a bit of a mystery to non-SA listeners, trust me they are both very relevant, happy to explain them to anyone who needs it. We finished off with a little cheers to Van Halen legend who announced his retirement this week with the final words "Stay Frosty". Enjoy it Dave you have earned it and you gave us fun by the ton m/ respect.Artists featured: Texas Hippie Coalition, Devil's Train, Dropkick Murphys, Michael Schenker Group, Dee Snider, Five Finger Death Punch, Grand Funk Railroad, Deep Purple, Candlebox, Danko Jones, Dan Patlansky, Bush, Korn, Heaven& Hell, KK's Priest, Judas Priest, Jimmy Barnes, Powderfinger, Adrenaline Mob, Gary Clark Jr., Guns ‘n' Roses, Joe Satriani, Pop Evil, Kiss, John Mellencamp, The Doors, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, Johnathan Martin, Legend of the Seagullmen, Mark Morton, ACDC, The Temperance Movement, Koos Kombuis, The Cherry Faced Lurchers, Van Halen
Episode 39 of Season 4 aired at 19h00 on Rebel Rock Radio, incredible how the year is flying past! We kicked off with 'The Mob Rules' brilliantly covered by Adrenaline Mob. The track came off a tribute to Ronnie James Dio album called This is Your Life. It set the show off to a blistering start. It fell to Alice Cooper and Slash's Snakepit to pick up the pieces. Slash features on both tracks. From there we were into some Gospel music from Stryper and some not gospel music from Mötley Crüe. There was a bit of early '80s stuff then we went to Seattle to check out solo work from Stone Gossard and Jerry Cantrell of Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains respectively. One of the show highlights for me was a 3 song bit featuring SA bands spanning nearly 40 years. We went from a new band in Cape Town called Image&Nation with a track called 'Rivers and Dreams' back to the mid-'80s and a recording I have of The Diamond Dogs, to AKing out of Bellville featuring half of Fokofpolisiekar. We also checked out the power of Dean Smith, an ex-South African responsible for pioneering some serious SA Metal, and his new album released as Deangersmith. The album is called Lead Us to Your Taker (Disarm the Corrupt) and the track was called 'Buckle My Shoe'. In the last hour we got heavy with Hatebreed and Testament then commercial with Nickelback and Bon Jovi ( yes I said the N-word), and played out with some classic ACDC, Judas Priest, and show closer 'Gypsy Lee Rose' from Brody Dalle's outfit The Distillers. I Ran out of time as usual. I was so busy I totally forgot to play the new Guns 'n' Roses track, which tells you something about a few things. Artists featured: Adrenaline Mob, Alice Cooper, Slash's Snakepit, Stryper, Triumph, Texas Hippie Coalition, Black Star Riders, Sebastian Bach, Mötley Crüe, Stone Gossard, Jerry Cantrell, Biters, Kid Rock, Frank Marino, Rory Gallagher, Rival Sons, Black Stone Cherry, Dangerous Toys, My Chemical Romance, Seether, Image&Nation, The Diamond Dogs, AKing, Deangersmith, Testament, Hatebreed, Serj Tankian, The Stranglers, Queensrÿche, ACDC, The LA Maybe, Nickelback, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest, The Distillers.

Two weeks until the camp grounds open at Blue Ridge Rock Fest! I know you are excited, because I sure as hell am. So I hope you are ready! Today I bring you a band out of New Jersey playing day 3 of the festival. Ladies and Gentleman, Aurin! “Aurin is back with their new album “Serotonin” (released on 9/13/19 through TLG / INgrooves). “Serotonin” was produced by Grammy award nominated Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Thank you Scientist, Saliva). The album debuted at #1 on Amazon Hard Rock Best Sellers, #10 in overall Rock, and has since had over 220,000 streams on Spotify. The first two singles “Pause Rewind Repeat” and “Brother” have been featured in publications such as AP magazine, and Loudwire. After their critically acclaimed 2014 release of record label debut album “Catharsis” on Pavement Entertainment / RED, the band hit the road, and has since shared the stage with several national acts such as : Art of Dying, Otep, Nonpoint, Icon For Hire, Gemini Syndrome, Ill Nino, Adrenaline Mob, Fit for Rivals, Smile Empty Soul, Members of Breaking Benjamin, 40 Below Summer, Tantric, Spineshank, & more! Their latest single “Brother”, is about dealing with the emotions that come along when a loved one ends their own life. The raw, emotional track was written by guitarist Andrew Wayne, whose brother took his own life in 2012. Aurin detail a powerful, first-person account of suicide in this song and music video. “It took me over five years to muster up the courage to actually write about it” says Wayne. “The video is a dedication to him and the city that he loved (New York City), where he lived and died. He was a prodigal artist with an uncanny ability to portray beauty. We decided to feature his artwork, not just for the “Serotonin” album cover, but throughout the rest of the album as well. This song is dedicated to him. It is dedicated not only to his memory, but to all the people that have been lost to such tragedy. ” The first single from Serotonin “Pause Rewind Repeat” has a strong message behind it regarding the times we are living in. “Political divides are tearing nations and their people apart. So many of us are too busy placing the blame or turning a blind eye, that we have forgotten the importance of being humanitarian. The song is intended to show that we need to be stronger in order to push through all of the pain and suffering in this world. We need to lift each other up in order to break through the barriers that have been placed between us.” – Sarah Anderson Wayne https://www.aurinband.com/ https://www.facebook.com/aurinband https://www.instagram.com/aurinband/ This episode is proudly brought to you by: Betterhelp : https://www.betterhelp.com/sipod for 10% off Mack Weldon: https://www.mackweldon.com/suckit Promo Code "SUCKIT" for 20% off! Episode 18 of Season 4 aired on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 7 May 2021, it is hard to believe it is May already, the year is flying by. It was a smooth running rock 'n' rolling bit of perfection, starting with W.A.S.P's 'I'm Alive' off Inside The Electric Circus. Other heavyweights we listened to were ACDC with 'Sin City', one of their best with Bon Scott at his finest, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Motörhead, and Irom Maiden. The highlight of the show for me was Dan Patlansky with ' My Dear Boy' off his most recent album Perfection Kills. I pointed out that Dan is not only one of the best blues guitarists in the world, an incredible teacher and all-round decent human being but also has the best guitar tone around. The track demonstrated that as did the next song 'Couldn't Stand the Weather ' by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Punk was covered by the Sex Pistols and the UK Subs and the new stuff came from Thunder, Alice Cooper, and Great Van Fleet. The Thunder album was released this week and is called All The Right Noises, it is very strong. Other notable mentions were the Gojira track called 'Born For One Thing' off Fortitude. It is a monster of an album, the drumming is amazing, its going to be Best Metal Album of the year in all the Metal publications I reckon. More form that next week. Artists featured: W.A.S.P., Cinderella, The Black Crowes, Sheryl Crow, Rory Gallagher, Murderdolls, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa, Kris Barras Band, Thunder, ACDC, Rival Sons, Greta Van Fleet, Sex Pistols, UK Subs, Anti-Flag, Jerry Cantrell, Mammoth WVH, Alice Cooper, Gojira, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Red Dragon Cartel, Skid Row, , Richie Sambora, Dan Patlansky, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Metallica, Pink Floyd, The Horrible Crowes, Hellyeah, Motörhead, Adrenaline Mob, Zakk Wylde, Tool, Linkin Park, Bush
Episode 17 of season 4 was recorded while I was away on a Guitar Weekend in Clarans with Dan Patlansky. there are quite a few references to Dan and to the band I jam with, the amazing Bunk Girls Motorcycle Club as a result. There wasn't a lot of time for getting things to match up and flow so this show is pretty rough and ready. It does of course have the sort of tracks you would expect from TSORR. We started with Korn, which is something different, it just had the right energy. There was quite a bit of '80s metal, Tesla, slaughter, Y&T, Tokyo Blade, and even Stryper, remember them? To hell With The Devil was the top-selling Christian Metal album for about 15 years. We took a listen to the title track. We had the usual fare, ACDC, Gun 'n' Roses, Airbourne, Deep Purple, that sort of thing but we also checked out Anto-Nowhere League, The Wildhearts, and Paradox. Pantera and Parkway Drive took care of the heavy. SA stuff courtesy of Dan Patlansky, Government Car and 12th Avenue and new stuff courtesy of Greta Van Fleet, Alice Cooper and The Offspring. Artists featured: Korn, Y&T, The Cult, Bullets & Octane, Adrenaline Mob, The Lazys, Airbourne, Deep Purple, Guns 'n' Roses, ACDC, Crawl, Paradox, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, ZZ Top, Alice in Chains, My Chemical Romance, Coheed & Cambria, Yngwie Malmsteen, Greta Van Fleet, Alice Cooper, The Offspring, The Wildhearts, Anti-Nowhere League, Stryper, Tokyo Blade, Pop Evil, Kiss, 12th Avenue, Government Car, Pantera, Parkway Drive, Dave Hause, Tesla, Hanoi Rocks, Slaughter, Dan Patlansky, Dire Straits, Nickelback
Dale play! Más información: www.radioborder.com.ar
Episode 7 of Season 4 aired at 7 pm on 18 February 2021. It kicked off with Badlands and 'High Wire' off their stunning debut album released in 1989, Jake E. Lee on guitar, and what an amazing job he did. He should possibly rethink his Red Dragon Cartel and establish a solid blues-rock outfit like Badlands again. Just my view :-). We followed that with Whitesnake, Doug Aldrich, and Reb Beach on guitar and Doug Aldrich featured again later when we took a listen to the brand new Dead Daisies with Glenn Hughes on vocals. 2021 is kicking off with some good new releases, other than the Dead Daisies there is a new Michael Schenker Group and a new The Pretty Reckless. The MSG is getting excellent reviews from the rock press and The Pretty Reckless is getting rave reviews from me. The track played off the new Pretty Reckless was 'And So It Went' featuring Tom Morello. We stayed with Tom and caught 'Exploder' by Audioslave. Last week's dabble into prog continued with some more Porcupine Tree and Forty Six & 2 by Tool. You should find a lot to get your teeth into. Later in the show, I did alert listeners to the fact that I am on Day 3 of testing positive for Covid as it explained a few glaring balls-ups. I have left the show as it is in the interest of accuracy. There are one or two long pauses and memory lapses that can only be attributed to what I call Covid brain. If you have had it you will know. I found a few instances where the song ended and for a few seconds I couldn't remember how to play the next one. I am sure that next week's show will be a bit sharper. Artists featured: Badlands, Whitesnake, King Kobra, Extreme, Foghat, Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, Stiff Little Fingers, The Stranglers, W.A.S.P., Skid Row, Onslaught, U.D.O, The Temperance Movement, Porcupine Tree, Tool, The Pretty Reckless, Audioslave, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Motor Sister, Michael Schenker Group, Rainbow, dead Daisies, The Lazys, Asylum Kids, Sugar Drive Ruff MajikTom Petty & the Heartbreakers, John Mellencamp, Chickenfoot, Adrenaline Mob, Lita Ford, Kid Rock, Led Zeppelin, Rammstein, Joe Satriani.
This show was tough, it went out on 11 Feb 2021 at 7 pm and I had just returned from an overseas trip and was running on very little sleep. It was put together very quickly and started off fittingly with Thin Lizzy's 'The Boys Are Back In Town'. After that it was a few more from the 70's in the form of ACDC and Bad Company and we were off into the usual TSORR fare.A highlight for me was Porcupine Tree's Radioactive Toy, Steven Wilson at his best in my opinion. I also enjoyed the contrast of going from Mastodon to Neil Young. While overseas I saw a most interesting documentary about Suzi Quatro so we listened to her and also to Lita Ford as I have just finished her book Living Like a Runaway. There is some hectic stuff in that book. My view of Tony Iommi took a hit I have to say. I played a track off the new Foo Fighters and another off Too mean to Die, Accepts' latest album. All in all, it was a bit different to normal, no SA stuff at all which is a first and only one Aussie band. The Ghosts of Christmas Eve . Episode 2 of season 4 aired on 14 January 2021. I really enjoyed this show, it was a breeze, maybe because for the first time ever we didn't start with a bang. The chilled sounds of Cold Chisel's 'Way Down' off The Last wave of Summer was long a long pull of a cold beer after a hard day. After that, it was all guns blazing for a while. We checked out Texas Hippie Coalition, then some Thundermother, my current favorite all-girl rockers, and then it was off to the classics with deep purple and 'Highway Star'.It felt like a really good mix of lesser-known bands with the megastars, we had big names like Rammstein, Megadeth, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, and ZZ Top along with Newsted, Massive Wagons, Adrenaline Mob, Hatebreed, Phil Campbell, and The Hitchers. Highlights for me were the bit of reminiscence with Rose Tattoo and Guns 'n' Roses as well as celebrating my current love affair with Parkway drive. Check out Viva The Underdogs it is a spectacular documentary. For some reason it was a very Aussie heavy show, we hit 6 Aussie bands, Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets (that was fun, I played F.R.C. which I doubt gets a lot of radio play :-) ) The Lazys, Parkway Drive, and of course ACDC. SA was represented by The Diamond Dogs and the amazing Johnathan Martin off his The Infinite Highway album. All in all a great show. Artists Featured: Cold Chisel, Texas Hippie Coalition, Thundermother, Deep Purple, Mötley Crüe, Halford, Newsted, Massive wagons, Phil Campbell, Mötorhead, Rammstein, Alter Bridge, Badlands, The Hitchers, Sex Pistols, Rose Tattoo, Guns 'n' Roses, The Screaming Jets, the Lazys, Ramones, Hatebreed, Led Zeppelin, Joe Bonamassa, Dan Patlansky, The Diamond Dogs, Johnathan Martin, Parkway Drive, ACDC, ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, Adrenaline Mob, Saxon, Megadeth, Mercyful fate, Billy Squier, Chickenfoot & The Uninvited.
