This week, I sit down with my husband, Corey, to share the tender and vulnerable story of our ongoing journey with infertility. It's been a walk marked by deep longing, stretching, and heartbreak—and yet, through it all, God has proven Himself faithful. In this episode, we talk about:The ache of not knowing if your body is “good”The emotional and spiritual weight infertility places on a marriageLearning to stay with each other instead of fixing or fleeingThe deep impact of presence—being held instead of hurriedGratitude as a powerful tool to anchor us in truthHow God uses the waiting to prepare our hearts, not punish themSurrendering the dream of parenthood to Jesus and trusting Him to hold it tenderlyYou'll hear us reflect on Abraham's faith in Romans 4, when it says:“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”Even when the promise seemed impossible, he trusted the Promiser. And in the hidden places of waiting, Psalm 139 gives us peace:“The darkness is not dark to you… you knit me together in my mother's womb.”God sees every piece of our story—even the parts that feel lost in the dark. There's a line in this episode I whispered through tears:“If I can't give this to you, is my love enough?”And another Corey gently offered:“The desire of my heart is not to have children, but to hear the Father say, ‘I am well pleased.'”We hope this conversation reminds you that you are not alone in your wrestle. God isn't withholding from you—He is preparing you. He sees your ache, and He is near. You are held. You are loved. And even in this, you are not forsaken.—Scriptures to Reflect OnRomans 4:20-22 – “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God… being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”Psalm 139:11-13 – “Even the darkness will not be dark to you… For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.”_________________________________OUT NOW!! In this episode, we're reflecting on the incredible compassion of God. Compassion is more than just feeling sorry for someone—it's a deep, emotional response to their pain, a desire to ease their suffering. And here's the beautiful part: God doesn't just look at us from a distance; He meets us right in the middle of our pain. He understands our suffering because He's been there. John 3:16 reminds us that God loved the world so much that He sent His Son, and in doing so, He showed us the depth of His compassion. He didn't just feel sorry for us—He came to heal us.As we explore the difference between mercy and compassion, we see that while mercy is about forgiveness, compassion goes deeper. It's about feeling someone else's pain, connecting with them in their suffering, and acting to help. God, in His great mercy, doesn't hold our sins against us, but in His compassion, He walks alongside us in our hurt.We also reflect on how Jesus was fully God and fully man. He lived through the same emotions, the same struggles, and the same pains that we do. He wasn't just a divine figure, but someone who breathed, felt, and experienced the world as we do. He knows what it's like to be human, to feel helpless, and He used His life to show us what compassion looks like. He had a deep desire to alleviate our pain because He understood what it meant to be in need. When we think about being like sheep—running in circles, lying down, or jumping around in confusion—we realize that God sees us, even in our wandering. He understands the ways we seek, search, and long for Him. We don't have to have it all together to experience His compassion. He knows our hearts, and He responds with mercy and love, not judgment. There's a powerful lesson in surrendering control to Him. So often, we try to manage everything ourselves, thinking that if we hold the reins, we can avoid pain or failure. But in those moments, we're missing out on the deep compassion He has to offer. When we let go, trusting that He's in control, we start to experience the peace and healing that only He can provide. And really, what would we do without His compassion? I often think about that. God understands our suffering because He's experienced it Himself. His compassion isn't just a comforting idea—it's something that actively changes our lives. Without it, where would we be? How would we make it through the tough moments, the brokenness, and the pain of life?In this episode, we're reminded that God's compassion is the foundation of our hope. He sees us, He knows us, and He loves us deeply. His heart breaks with us in our pain, but it also holds us and guides us through it. And as we lean into His compassion, we begin to understand what it means to rest in His mercy and trust in His care for us.Scripture References:John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son..."Psalm 86:15: "But You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness..."Philippians 1:21: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."Reflection Questions:Can you think of a moment when you've felt God's compassion in your life? How can you allow God's compassion to shape the way you show love to others?Where in your life do you need to let go of control and trust God more fully?Stay Connected:Instagram: @indeepsoil | @upperroomcambridgeFlourishing Faith Starter Kit & Coaching Opportunities If this episode touched your heart, please consider subscribing, rating, and reviewing the podcast. He loved radically. He served when others wanted to be served. He was misunderstood, and if we follow Him, we will be too. But is it worth it? A few weeks ago, my husband Corey joined me on the podcast to discuss biblical marriage and what it truly means to put God at the center of our relationship.I want to start by being honest. Before Jesus truly took hold of my heart, I blamed my husband for every negative thing in my life—our struggles, our marriage, everything. But through God's grace, he encouraged me to take radical accountability for my actions, leading me through a powerful journey of sanctification.Just a few weeks ago, he said to me, “You are pure before me, but you are not healed.”I know God loves me and deeply cares about our healing. That's why we turn to scripture, like in 1 Thessalonians 4:3, which reminds us: "It is God's will that you be sanctified."God had plans for my process of sanctification—plans for my purity, my transformation.Sanctification: The process of becoming more like Christ, set apart for His purpose. It is God's will that I walk through this transformation, and if that's His will for me, it's His will for YOU, too.So, where are you in your own process of sanctification?(On a scale from "I don't know what that means" to "I'm in this process, but it's daunting and I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.")Know this: Jesus will draw you closer to Him, and our convictions will guide us in His Way. My prayer is that you embrace the process of sanctification as a road to your continued growth and that you see him in every single step. _____________________________________Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? Tessa joins us again with week with another episode from our TEEN TALKS series, where we interview teenagers to talk about their faith and the ways the Lord is growing them. Not only do we get to hear their perspective but we learn alongside of them. A few weeks back, we were having a conversation where she mentioned this idea to me about “kids parenting themselves” and I asked if we could discuss this in greater depth. I was anxious and curious to learn more about her perspective and this episode delivers. It was very insightful and if you have a teenager and/or are struggling with a child who is desiring for independence or is isolating, I would highly recommend this episode. Send it to a friend that you know might be struggling with this. Tessa did her research and offered us wonderful insight._______________________________________We asked, “Why can teens not be themselves around parents?”This is a very common characteristic for teens and she shares questions that sometimes come off as judgment like, “Why don't you want to talk to me?”“Why didn't you tell me about _________?”“I didn't know that about you….”These questions are often parents seeking emotional validation from their kids, “I need you to need me” and in that create an environment of pressure and the desires to be needed. Teens are feeling this as pressure and judgement.Tessa offers us a gentle reminder, “This is my mom/dads first time at life, too” which creates a lot of space for patience and understanding. She asked a few of her friends for their opinion and this one stopped us both,“Teens are in a phase of figuring out who we are and creating our own identity. Holding back from parents can be a means of setting boundaries and independence, it is not necessarily about not wanting anything to do with them but more about our own discovery.”Tessa encourages us to look at Exodus 20:12, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”If it is so valued by God that he would give a reward for it, it must be important to honor your parents. But, why?God trusts that parents will raise kids in a godly and biblical way, and the way that we honor our earthly parents often reflects how we will honor our heavenly father. TEENS: God made your parents exactly who you needed them to be….grace tells me that my mom and dad were both made in the image of God, I get to choose to see them in this same way. How are my actions, attitudes, and behaviors impacting my relationship with them?Tessa leaves us with this very hard, but thought provoking question, “How would your attitude and treatment of the Lord be, of our Heavenly Father, if it reflected how you treat your parents?”_______________________________________CONCEPTS: Sibling placement, maturing too quickly, wanting independence, self-isolation, quality time, the cell-phone safety net, awkwardness of teens, conflict resolution, big attitudes, a relational God, scripture as a training tool, when we lose our spark, lean into the little things, asking parents, “How did you handle ________?” _______________________________________Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? Adam and Eve andthe deceptive nature and blame game in the garden. Corey and Shauna jump in this week for another “US VS THAT” episode focused on the concept of biblical marriage and how it relates to each of them as individuals. We take a look at the relationships we see in Genesis 3 and how both Adam and Eve play a role in the fall, and how they've seen this impact their marriage and life. What does it mean to have a biblical marriage? Is it cut and dry? We discuss big questions and talk about how conflict in our marriage felt like an opportunity for connection, and that we were sometimes fighting just to feel. We share our unique feelings, wants, and needs, and how scripture has challenged us to try onAgape Love, sacrificial love, like Jesus does so plainly throughout his ministry. Like Nehemiah, we each have our own role on the wall and in our marriage. Our shared heart for unity and oneness brings greater power and clarity to our unique and individual parts, but our eyes remain locked on Jesus with each step. Biblical Marriage, the 50/50 rule, blame cycle, feeling misunderstood, going around the same mountain, porcupine mode, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and SO much more. This episode is jam-packed. ________________________________Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? A few weeks ago I had the privilege of sharing a sermon titled “Seeking The Lost” with our local congregation. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamt of being a pastor (or an usher), and was beyond blessed with this beautiful and humbling opportunity. The preparation period was very different from my typical Wednesday message both for the podcast and our youth program. This stretched me in many ways, and the Lord worked on my heart preparing me and loving me through it all. I was shocked to see most of our high school students show up to church and have many friends and family with us in person and online. I felt loved, cared for, and prepared to share what Jesus asked me. It was if the pain had prepared to share this exact message, and the weight of it still weighs heavy on me. Not only do I believe this is a message directly from God's heart, but because I grew up in the pews, this message speaks to an even greater need for the continual growth and reformation of the church as a corporate and spiritual body. My prayer is that this message is not directly addressed to my local congregation but that, on a global scale, we see a need to reach the lost where they are, not where we want them to be, and not with judgment but with “our hand stretched out still.” ________________________________ Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? A monthly series from the God Who Sees Me Podcast, “Teen Talks” inspired by the Gen-Z generation of young adults walking boldly and in great faith as the Holy Spirit moves in their hearts, minds, and spirits. Meet my friend Elizabeth, a college sophomore, who recently came home from a mission trip to Cuba, where she learned to evangelize and share the gospel with those thirsty for it. They came not only with the gift of salvation but used a water-filtration system to share the full truth of our sinful nature, desperate for purity with Jesus. During this week's podcast episode, we talked about how the Lord has been using her faith to lead and guide her into a deeper relationship with him and her family through their sibling bible study. Elizabeth tells us about the importance of prioritizing Christian fellowship in her first year at college and how she bravely shares her faith by keeping Jesus at the center of everything she does. We talked about age limits on baptism, her YOLO perspective on sharing the gospel, overcoming the need to be popular, and how selfish it is to keep Jesus away from those who need him. This was a wild adventure and we learned a lot! Even how a simple carnation to someone at Walmart can plant a seed that the Lord can use.My prayer for you is that this episode encourages you to see your faith through a new lens and that we continue to look to him as the central focus in our lives. __________________________________Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? Repentance, the big R-word, a not-so-popular topic of conversation, even amongst believers, but as sons and daughters, it is important that we talk about what it means to walk a life of true repentance and use conviction to draw us nearer to the Lord, instead of further away. We must learn to take radical accountability for our wrong-doing and see ourselves in the light that Christ has for us. In this week's episode, I challenge you to get really honest with yourself, and with God about the life that you are living and the choices you are making. We talk about breaking free from a victim mindset and what it might look like and sound like in your world. We look at the commandments given on Mount Sinai and seek greater truths about the character of God revealed throughout the scriptures. We are left with a poem in the book of Jonah that reminds us of the compassion the Lord has, as he continually relents and remembers his grace for us. My prayer is that this episode draws us nearer to Jesus, as we remember his heart for our growth. ________________________________ Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? US VS THAT: Be The Body My husband Corey joins us for season two in our monthly series, “US VS THAT” where we share two differing perspectives that have allowed us both to grow in big ways over the years. A conversation after studying the book of Ecclesiastes sparked this episode, where we discuss many things we are noticing in “the body” of the church. We share a variety of conversations we'd had with some of our young students (gen-z), a concern for the lack of millennials in the pews on Sunday, and the continued separation amongst the generations causing continual division and other walls (unintentionally). We address big emotions and feelings like inadequacy, shame, and belonging, and how we continue to hear things like, “I grew up in the church but….” Many have walked away and rejected God, but it is our belief that the church should be a place for people to find rest and belonging once again. Ecclesiastes 2:12 asks us a great question, “What more can the King's successor do than what has already been done?” Jesus has already made the way and opened the door for us to embrace his kingdom and purposes. We are in a spiritual battle and need to root out the lies before they are embedded so deeply that it is even more difficult to embrace change. The process of sanctification is difficult and messy. The war is here and it is spiritual, it is attacking our kids and everybody, whether you believe it or not. We are witnessing the way that Jesus is radically reaching the hearts of young people, as they are audibly hearing from him and are encountering the spirit in a way that is transforming them in deep ways. Our prayer is that this episode brings conviction and encouragement. That we remember that Jesus doesn't NEED US, but wants us to partner with him in bringing forth his Kingdom purposes.
A new monthly series, A Sermonette: A Short Sermon for Your Long Day. Do I believe that the Lord is good? Do I believe that He is for me? Do I believe the Lord is in me/with me? “Out of my distress, I called to the Lord and answered me,” Psalm 118:5 What about the parts of myself that do not align with these truths? If I am not aligned with the truths that God says about me, I am allowing my humanness and my sinful nature to get in the way of the Lord's full authority over my life. If I am not aligned with these truths then I am deceived and am not stepping into the true freedom found in Christ. We don't just memorize scripture to memorize it. When we know it intimately, we can call on it as a tool when we have a weak moment in our faith. His character and his word are found scattered amongst these holy pages. We will be held accountable at the gates and ignorance is not an excuse. This might seem harsh, and please hear my heart in this. His love is so much greater than we realize. His word is a tool in our armor and he asks us to use it to protect, to shield, to stand on in these moments. (Ephesians 6:10-20) Today's challenge to you is, “Am I being the ultimate authority over my life or is he?” ________________________________ Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? A new monthly series, A Sermonette: A Short Sermon for Your Long Day. What is the gospel? This is a word that is often thrown around but do we really know what it means? The gospel, which translates to “the good news” as told in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, are the stories of Jesus and his time here on earth. They share many of the stories and teachings of his ministry, “the Way.” Many of the people that Jesus met had very differing opinions and theology, he pushed and stretched the status quo and their ideas. Our question today is, where are we boxing God in? It is good news is that God already had a plan for reconciliation. He knew of our shortcomings before they even happened and he writes a better story! I pray this would leave you bold, and emboldened to spread the good news, to share the gospel, and tell people about a man named Jesus who was already predestined to die on a cross for the reconciliation and redemption of God's holy people. AMEN. ________________________________ Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? A new monthly series, A Sermonette: A Short Sermon for Your Long Day. Who is Jesus and why did he come? Maybe you've had deep questions that have always kept you wondering. We take a look at John 3:16-18, one of the most well-known verses in all of scripture. It reveals a greater story when we include verses 17-18 into the conversation. Jesus was a man who brought reconciliation back into a fallen world. Join us for part three and the final clip from my interview with Hannah James, a strong woman of the faith, with beautiful wisdom, insight, and revelations that will help us all find comfort and accountability in walking closely with the Lord. “The corporate church is a little ill and wounded right now, and we are praying for her to heal.” Doesn't the Lord promise that he will come back for a spotless bride? What exactly does this mean? In this final clip, we talk about how both of us in different seasons walked away as we believed that we were written off, “I was already worthless, so what was the point??” We don't always hear the toxic nature of beliefs and thoughts like this, that are so counterintuitive to who scriptures tell us that he is and the way that he loves us, so. “He loves us because he loves us” - Shauna recalls a pastor praying this over her. We can't do anything to not get it. We can't earn his love, he already gave it to us. His love for us never changes. We must learn to invite Jesus into our everyday moments, because he knows our exact heart in each of them, When we do, we have clearer and more consistent opportunities for obedience, not just in the big things but in the seemingly minuscule things. Like doom-scrolling, shopping, moments of double-mindedness, wrestling in the spirit and truth, honoring him in each moment, etc. He is the same, we are different and we change, but he doesn't so we can continue to trust him in each moment. We also discuss the power of healing that starts on the individual level, and if we continue to seek the gifting more than we seek him then our identity is found in what we can do for HIM, and not what he wants to do IN US. Our gifting is a responsibility to edify the church. If you think you have done things that have counted you completely out, “I'm not deserving, I am not worth it.” In the name of Jesus, our Savior and our Lord, who came in the flesh and resurrected us, we break that off of you NOW. We proclaim that we are the children of God that creation has been waiting for. _________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Take a listen to part 2 of my interview with my friend and sister in the faith, Hannah James. In this week's episode, we talked about how the Lord promises, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23 This episode was jam-packed with many different viewpoints and perspectives. We talked about the power of a name, the deep ways that Jesus loves us, the staying power of grace, and how the giftings are not always received by the world. We asked questions like, “Jesus, do you love me?” “When do we enter into resurrected life?” “How do we put our phone down?” “What will the fullness of love be like?” and laughed, talked about the challenges of social media, and continued to give glory, honor, and praise to our king! Starting from scratch with Hannah James My friend and sister in the faith, Hannah James, joins us for this week's episode (part 1 of 3). A beautiful woman of God, full of love, knowledge, and experience of walking with Jesus in various stages of her faith. She shares with us about her early stages and how he helped her start over from scratch. Through continued obedience, Jesus gave her a gift and she shares about the first time she used the gift at the capital here in Wisconsin. The Lord said to her, “You don't like your life right now,” She said, “You are right Lord, I don't.” He smiled, “You should give it to me.” Take a listen to part 1 of three, and stay tuned for more of this incredible story! _____________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. "Teen Talks" is a testament to the inspiring faith and courage of the Gen-Z generation. Guided and fueled by the Holy Spirit, these young adults are walking boldly and living out their faith with great conviction. Their hearts, minds, and spirits are moved by the Holy Spirit, empowering them to achieve amazing things without looking to the ways of the world. It's truly inspiring to witness their unwavering faith and steadfast commitment to living a life that glorifies God. “Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 Meet my friend Alyssa who has such a soft and gentle spirit, she challenged us with a few questions during this weeks episode that I believe are very useful for many of us, no matter where we are on our faith walk. She asks, “Is there a difference between your life getting easier and your life getting better?” As I interviewed Alyssa she talks about how walking with Jesus isn't necessarily easier, but its better because we have tools to cope with the fact that it is not easier. “The journey is not better than the destination.” Alyssa shares one of her favorite verses from John 15:18, “if the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you.” “The worlds hatred,” she says, “is about knowing that you do not live for the world, you live for God. You are just passing through to get to something eternal.” This is not just a podcast for teens, it's for adults who are wanting to better understand the hearts, minds, and challenges of today's youth. Oh, How He Loves Us So. A few days ago, the Lord told me while we journaled together that my “peace and joy are of the utmost importance to him.” He wanted me to experience these gifts and the fruits of his spirit. I felt so loved in that moment. It was important to him that I was able to experience both peace and joy in my life. On this week's episode, we take a look at a few verses from the message translation in Isaiah 44 and 45. There was a line that stopped me in my tracks. “Come back to me, come back. I've redeemed you.” Would we turn back from our ways? Would we learn to seek him? Would we be brave enough to stop going at it in our own way?? I see the Lord simply calling his children home to him. He doesn't need us but he wants us. His love for us is so deep, pure, life-changing and transformational. It is already yours, would you grab hold of it and seek him fully? _______________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. The Lord is inviting us all into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with him. Over the last few weeks, I have been asked to put things aside while I seek him in the secret place. This time together with him is sacred, as he shares his heart and heals deep seated wounds that were still gushing (unbeknown to me). The secret place is a place of complete surrender in the quiet of your heart, learning to hear his voice with clarity and distinction and putting down the things that keep getting in the way of that relationship. He is inviting you into something deeper, richer, and more fulfilling than this world will ever be, but it comes with a cost. Jesus warns us about being lukewarm for his kingdom. I don't want you to be lukewarm or cold, I want you to know the deep riches of the love of our Father who waits for us patiently with long-suffering. Are you willing to pay the cost to step into full redemption on the other side? If we do not devote ourselves to him then everything else is “meaningless, meaningless, meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 1), we must learn to seek him above ALL else. I hear many people ask questions like, “What is my purpose? What should I do? Where do I go?” You have a divine calling within you to love the Lord your God with ALL of your heart, all of your might, and all of your strength. Our purpose is to worship him and to seek him, to give him the glory in all that we do. I pray that this episode invite you into something that changes your heart for the Lord in a deeply transformative way. I know it will not come without difficulty and pain, but his tender love will heal even the deepest of wounds and it is worth it, HE is worth it. ____________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. In Christ, we are overcomers. As I sit on my bathroom floor to record this episode, a past version of myself would have found great sadness, and debilitating self-doubt in this circumstance. But with Jesus, we can find gratitude for even these small moments that do not define us, but refine us for his kingdom purposes. I cannot help but laugh at this moment in time. I have always been my own worst enemy, listening to the lies that have kept me debilitated by feelings of lack and self-deprication. It has been a long journey of learning that my thoughts do not always align with how God sees me. Someone said to once to me like this, “you might be wrong about you.” I have to look really hard sometimes to see the truth behind the lies of condemnation that i've believed about myself. Lies that believe I am not good enough, or that my body is broken, or that I don't belong. Condemnation is not our sentence. I can choose for the chains to hold me back, which I have done before, OR I can choose Him. I can choose Him, fully. I can move past the lie with the truth, that he loves me because he loves me because he loves me and that my circumstance do not define me, but only HE can. __________________ WEEKLY | Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Learning to trust that we are his, a hard lesson that I had to learn as an adult in my faith journey. Our God has been so gracious to me as I've navigated paths in my own life, seeking to find meaning and purpose, without Him. As a young person, there was a part of myself that would flourish during a week a way at camp. I would watch how my faith would be strengthened ten fold, until moments of being home and coming back to the “real world.” “Jesus freak,” they'd say. There was a part of myself that loved the Lord but I often left her at camp. I was neglecting that part of who I was, and it has impacted my heart for years since then. Working with young people is so heavy on my heart because I can speak to a moment in my own life that could have shifted drastically If I would have been reminded that… -I would never fit into the world. -Seeking after worldly things WOULD happen. -Following Jesus was a choice. -That the part of myself that loved Jesus was who I was, deep down. But, he is the God that writes perfect stories, and redemption is in his blood. We are made new in him, and with him. The part of myself that loves Jesus is the part of myself I get to live out now. Having waited many painful years, it was worth it to learn a hard but beautiful truth. It was my identity as his child I was seeking, and it was the identity of his child that was found. _______________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. A practice of quieting our mind and resting in the spirit is something that can take time, I felt strongely that the body of Christ was needing encouragement and some quiet time of reflection and connecting with the spirit. (I needed this, too)! The nervous system needs time to turn off, reset, and get restablished. We can use prayer as a means to connect deeply with the Holy Spirit in the secret place, to find refreshing for our soul, and allow our bodies (our temple) to enter into deep and healing rest. I want to invite you into that today. Are you feeling worn out, tired, weary, or in need of deep spiritual refreshing? Then find 20 minutes in the next few days to find a quiet spot, free from distractions, and allow yourself to sit and rest. Invite your spouse, family member, or a friend to join you and when you are done use these few reflection questions if you'd like to discuss: How was that for you? What was the most difficult part? What did the Holy Spirit reveal to you? When can you make time in your schedule to connect deeply like this? What would that look like? I pray this is a deep moment of refreshment for your soul, Jesus, we thank you for these moments to remember that are only called, “to be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) ______________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. A warning from Jesus in Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Even though our hearts and our spirits are willing to do this work, our flesh is weak and is in direct opposition to the spirit. We are constantly being tempted to be pulled back into the sinful nature and settle into the ways of this world. Our spiritual disciples are so important, and we must get comfortable with taking conscious inventory of our spiritual health, seeking to continue to grow in deeper and more intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven. Perhaps you are taking time to skim over the pages and check off that you read your Bible, but are you taking what you are reading and truly applying it to your life? Are the words sinking in? Do you actually understand what it is saying? Are you truly loving your neighbors as yourself? Do you know what it means to be loved? Do you love God in that same way? We must learn to mature in our faith and seek the deeper truths, as we do, we continue to grow and step further into the purposes that our Father has for us. Paul tells the church of Ephesus in Ephesians 4:14 , “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” It is through him that his eternal kingdom will emerge, as we seek to speak the truth in love and mature into who Christ intends for us to be for the equipping of the saints, and the maturing of the body. The thing about God is that he doesn't expect our perfection but our desperate need for his. When we try to be in control of everything and seek perfection in our life, we are not walking out faith and the full truth of the gospel. In Genesis 9, the Father establishes a new covenant and promised us that he would never flood the earth again, and although we have turned our back on him and chose to go our own way, he still had a plan for reconciliation from the very beginning. His plan for redemption and reconciliation was fulfilled through the life of Jesus, the Fathers will is perfect and yet, he offers us free will because he wants us to be in a relationship with him. Being in a relationship with him means freedom to choose and our God desires to be chosen. When the Father looks at you he sees the perfect spotless lamb of Jesus. He gives us new robes, he makes us clean, and when we don't acknowledge his promise, we miss out on his entire character that made room for you, me, and the new life promised to us through Jesus. This episode will leave you challenged to look at, “What is getting in the way?” in your own life and how God is drawing you nearer to himself. Today while I was on my run, I heard myself speaking encouragement over my spirit that sounded a lot like mantras from my days wrapped up in the new age and wellness space. The mantras I was using (back then) were a band-aid to the hurt but they weren't healing the wound because I wasn't aware of the wound. Today, the difference was that they carried a tangible weight to them because the words were prompted by the Holy Spirit. They weren't empty, they carried a medicine, a healing for my spirit and soul because they carried the truth of scripture and the truth of who God says that I am. I know what Jesus says about me. He calls me who I am. So after a long season of learning to deny the self while learning who HE was, I heard the truth of scripture in a way that truly brought healing balm to my wounding, something I was DESPERATE for. A familiar mantra might sound like, “I am strong” But when we pair that with the truth of scripture, “Where I am weak, he is strong” I don't need to be strong, I need to know who He is. The new age wants you to focus on yourself, God wants us to focus on Him. He fills in the gap. I pray that this episode bring you clarity on the lie and need that lives underneath the mantra. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thegodwhoseesme/support
“Why isn't my ‘good' good enough?” A question that has left me in long seasons of defeat and disappointment, as I've sought outside validation to feelings that were confusing. I hadn't realized that behind my “good” wasn't what God claimed to be good, but instead what the world claimed good to be. It took a lot of time seeking out the Lord and his character to truly understand why the standards I was holding were not in alignment with who he tells us that he is. The more time we spend in the word the clearer his character becomes. In this week's episode, we take a look at a verse in Micah and in the gospel of John that help us get a clearer vision of who the Lord and what he requires of us. His kindness and mercy help us to continue seeking his will day in and day out. My pastor always tells us that mercy sounds like this, “I know what I am, don't hold it against me.” Although we are not perfect humans, full of mistakes and errors, the God of the Bible made us good. Take a listen to this weeks episode and be reminded that he calls you good in the first few pages of the book. _________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Join Corey and I this week as we reflect on how both of us deeply resonate with being “the prodigal son” and how this story has revealed a depth to God's character that focuses on redemption. As we reflect on the last year, we can see clearly that God has been building a more solidified foundation for us to stand on. In our idenity, our marriage, our family, in community, in a local church, in our finances, in the way that we show up to the world, and he is so gracious and patient with us. The story of the prodigal son is such a testament to the Father's goodness. When the son returns, he is met with joy and open arms. The Father clothes him, puts on a feast, hosts a party, he sings and tells his community that his Son has returned! This is the way that God welcomes us back to the Kingdom! Paul writes to Titus about this in Titus 3:4, “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” There is nothing that we can do to earn it, he saved us because of his good mercy. We pray this episode be a reminder of the depth of which our Father will go to call his children home. ______________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. The Wound of Rejection When I asked God what to talk about on this week's podcast, this was his response. “They ‘love me' but hate who I created them to be, so they hate me in them.” Ouch. On this week's podcast, we talk about the wound of rejection and how it can seriously impact our relationship with God and the way that we talk out our faith in our everyday life. We take a look at a moment where Jesus was rejected by his disciple Peter and how his gracious love still covered him and still allowed for a new name. What happens when your obedience and your “yes” later brings a closed door? Often times, we allow our imagination and creativity to run rampant when God opens a door for us. With answered prayers of clarity, we start to see a projected timeline and a life that leaves us sure of this new life we are seeking, we neglect to leave room for God to do what only he can do. What happens when that door closes after we've done the thing that we are asked? We keep ourselves in patterns of looping when we put “all of our eggs in one basket” only to be let down when the grace lifts from a scenario. It is our obedience to the moment that we are called to. There is always a lesson for us to learn, sometimes the lesson will come with a door that was initially open that is now ready to shut. We must learn the lesson, without attaching to the outcome and the preceived safety net that comes with “clarity” in a situation. This is really hard to do and it can easily cause us to question and doubt our initial “yes.” Your inner dialogue might sound something like, “Did I hear him wrong?” “Was that my own selfish ambition?” “Did God really say??” ^ ALL of these sound a lot like Eve's conversation with the enemy in the garden, when he intentionally sowed seeds of doubt and caused her to question what she heard. God doesn't change, with your yes or your no, he still desires obedience, trust, and faith. You are the one that will change. What would happen if we were so willing to be obedient that we stopped seeking his favor, and started seeking his heart? It would require us to know him in a deeper and more meangingful way. I pray this episode bless you with God size shifts that allow you to see the lesson and surrender to both an open and closed door. If you are looking for a deeper and more intentional relationship with your father, than you are in the right place. Living in the alignment of God What does it mean to live in the alignment of God? This is an episode jam-packed with questions for you to ponder. When I was radically saved from the new age, I was living deeply in mixture, without realizing it. Because I *knew* there was one God and that he had sent his Son for me, I believed that these tools and techniques (crystals, tarot cards, praying to Hindu gods) were helping me to reach him, only to find out that the enemy used them to keep me far from God. This is an episode with the heart of helping you to draw nearer to him. That often means looking at the places of belief in our minds currently challenging these ideas. What lies do we believe about our journey? I would bet that these lies are not serving, and are extremely detrimental to your mental health. In this week's episode, we will dive into questions like, -Are your words and actions in alignment with the will of the Father? -What is the will of the Father? -Am I willing to learn? -Where am I still living in mixture? -What is his will for my life? -How am I showing up to my relationship with God? These questions will help to reveal the *hidden* truths in our broken hearts, and when we learn them, we can take Paul's teachings from his second letter to the Corinthians and put them into practice, taking the thoughts captive and making them obedient to Christ. Healing is available through the finishing work of the cross. We can't be wounded soldiers, we have to be strong, courageous, bold, humble, and submitted to the spirit. Perhaps we have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this. ____________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Corey joins us on this week's episode, as we share our experience of leading worship on the capital steps for a national event from “Her Voice Movement” intended to empower women (Esther's) to use their voice to stand in the gap for their children. It was an emotionally charged event, focused on reformation and repentance towards the church. It was a very difficult but beautiful day, besides the human spirit having an experience, on all sides, both Corey and Shauna share their experience of taking a very bold step of faith that would challenge their heart for unity amongst those who are called children of God. This is a spiritual battle, we are not fighting a person but a principality. Please hear our heart and if you'd like to discuss any parts of this further and find common ground, reconciliation through Christ is the work of the cross. _________________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. I just need to give Him the glory. There are some moments in your life that you just need to bask in his glory and goodness, and I am having one of those weeks this week. In the same week, I became a *published author* for the first time, and Corey and I led worship on the capital steps here in Wisconsin. I'll circle back about the capital next week, but this week we are going to focus on the writing aspect and just how good he is. It was last July when I started writing this article that would later be published in The Depth Issue of “The Truly Co” Magazine. I felt a need to follow through on a task and prove to myself (with the loving nudge of the Holy Spirit) to consider myself a Christian writer. I started writing this article, and much to my surprise, it was chosen to be published and I couldn't wait. In this week's episode, I read through the article shared about my journey of making it to this point and reflected on how God writes a bigger story than we could ever imagine. _________________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. "AMERICA IS NINEVAH" I heard the Lord say. It was 1:30 in the morning on 3/31/2024, I woke up to the sound of knocking in my spirit, “Nahum” I heard over and over again. A book of the prophets that I have read but couldn't recall. As I opened my book the story of Jonah grabbed my attention and Jonah's blatant disobedience to God's heart to save the 120,000 people of Nineveh. After finishing the book of Jonah I continued onto the prompt the spirit was leading. Nahum means “comfort” and is short for Nehemiah, meaning “Comfort of Yahweh.” After reading Nahum through, God showed me two verses that are relevant for today and for the prompting of the Word the Lord gave me below. Nahum 2:1 tells us, “An attacker advances against you, Ninevah. Guard the fortress, watch the road, brace yourselves, marshal all your strength.” Nahum 3:13 says, “Look at your troops— they are all women!” A word given from the Lord on 3.31.24 for America (this word is as is, spelling, spacing as it came) “AMERICA IS NINEVAH" "I am raising up a remnant of women who hear my voice and fear me and are willing to do whatever it is that I say to do, at the sound of my bell. I have heard their cries and will pour out my spirit on this thirsty generation desperate for mothers who are not a harlot, eager to do my will and unashamed of the message I have put on their hearts to minister to my many children. This great nation was founded on faith, liberty, prosperity, and the pursuit of happiness and the lack of joy in this nation is evident of the enemies hand that has continued to chain my people and kept them idolizing man-made objects and themselves in a way that must stop this day. For your cries have made it to my throne room and I am ready to make a judgment." Listen to this week's episode to hear the rest of this word, and how God has redemption planned for this great nation. ____________ Join us every Wednesday to be encouraged as you take steps in your faith, remembering that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. ABBA FATHER. We cry out to you. Can you hear us? Have you ever asked God this question before? “God, are you there?? It is getting pretty weird talking to myself over here.” ^ Welcome to my prayer life. LOL But walking with God can get messy, especially when we lack the depth of understanding that comes from knowing his true heart. God's character is scattered throughout the Bible, it acts as a treasure hunt of goodness waiting to be revealed. When you search him out, he reveals deeper truths. Often, we are not willing to look for the depth of him and we wonder where he is. Walking with God is a daily pursuit, meant to strengthen our faith with each new day. But what happens when we lose faith? When we experience hope-deffered? When our knees, hands, and feet grow weary? Provers 13:12 tells us, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” I have experienced this deep aching in my heart for a long time, when the Lord called me back, I was already in a pretty hopeless place. I had looked for the world to fulfill me for so long and found only faith the size of a mustard seed. I faced grief, shame, pain, and a giant taste of humility as I realized how I had made choices that had me turning my back on God. I had let the voices of the world tell me who to be, and what to do, and I want to challenge you today with this question. Whose voice are you listening to? I pray this episode gives you a glimpse into the power of HIS faithfulness when we grow weary, turn our back, and hurt his heart….his faithfulness is always there for us, because of his character. When we know this about him, it makes relying on the truth of scripture that much easier in moments of weak faith. He is a good, good father and he waits patiently for his children to come home. 1 Timothy 4:12 tells us, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” This has been a life verse for me and is a pillar to the Kingdom perspective God is building up in front of us. With each new day, it seems to get a little darker out there but a little brighter within the walk of following Jesus. How can that be? Perhaps this contrast is there to help us choose to walk in the ways of everlasting with each decision and choice that we make. His goodness is so tangible and it makes the desire for purity that much stronger. Instead of living in mixture, we must choose who we will serve this day. When I look at these young people, I often see the challenges I was facing as a young teen, afraid to navigate really difficult emotions while being vulnerable with people that I love. Witnessing suicide, divorce, sexual immorality, physical and mental abuse. It plagued my eyes and jaded my perspective of the world. God has been burdening me heavily with the hearts of young people, and the mental torment they are experiencing on all sides. With technology, being locked in our homes, and lacking human connection, it has become even louder out there, and more difficult for them to face. They witnessed the cracks in the foundation, while they experienced the chains that came with the name of religion. They are far from Jesus, without knowing it. The transformational love of Christ has been missing in the Church as a whole, and our younger generations are feeling that ache. What can we do? Don't overlook them. Don't throw stones about screen use, I would challenge you instead to take personal ownership and responsibility for the time spent on a screen. If you are afraid they are missing it, where are you “missing it?” (life, I mean). Pray! Get on your face and PRAY for them, for their eyes to be opened, to see his goodness, to be healed, to be radically changed, to call out the lies, and SPEAK LIFE OVER THEM. He is our answer, it is His presence we desperately seek. I am humbled at what God has done in terms of giving me a voice in the worship space. The girl who stopped singing was a part of myself that I missed greatly, and it wasn't until Jesus offered me a new heart that a new song and voice came with it. He truly brings us new life. I never imagined that Corey and I would be sharing in worshipping God in the ways in which we've seen him move in the last nine months, but you know what they say about God? We need only but a mustard seed. That seed, that was planted in deep trust, with eyes closed has blossomed and continues to emerge with each new day. The best part is that it has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with God. Having a heart for worship is about seeking him and him ONLY. Often times, our humanness and silly emotions, can stop us in our tracks and distract us from truly being with the Father. The amount of times that I would attend worship and be moved to tears, only to make it about myself. The heart of God teaches to humble ourselves and to give him the glory (easier said than done). During this episode, we talk about the heart behind worship and what it does (and doesn't) look like. I would encourage you to take a listen. _________________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Meet one of my favorite people, Kayley Baxter, a strong Christian woman with the spiritual gifts of knowledge and the prophetic. As we jump into a conversation, she shares her experience with learning to feed her spirit in the same way that she had to feed her body. As Kayley drew nearer to the Lord, he brought great healing to her heart and revealed many hidden truths that were blocking her relationship with Jesus. As she addressed these hard truths, the Holy Spirit brought opportunities for growth and gifts that she didn't expect. “There is nothing for me without your presence,” Kayley tells us about her relationship with the Father. She talks about being “spiritually dead” and “coming to the end of herself” and the signs that she was seeing in her life to push her into deeper trust. Perhaps these moments in Kayley's healing journey can be a light for you on your walk. This was an absolutely lovely conversation, and I pray that this deeply speaks to your heart. _______________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Corey Bauhs and Cathy Yerges, Owner of The Cambridge Market, join us this week to discuss an upcoming worship event planned for March 8th, at The Cambridge Market. Cathy shares the story of The Cambridge Market and its inception and how she saw God move (and provide) during the pandemic, leaving her with a lot of hope for continued community and economic development. She tells us about her experience with The Upper Room moving in upstairs and how our willingness to share the love of Christ with such openness has inspired her to be bold in her faith. “You push me outside of my comfort zone regularly,” Cathy says, as she shares the subtle shift from, “I own a business and I'm a Christian” “I'm a Christian business owner” “We are a Christian business” As we witness God continuing to push us to move with great boldness in the marketplace, our worship event is intended to create space for continuing belonging and healing for our community, while we ask the question, “What does it mean to be a Christian in this world, outside of the safety of those 4 walls? For the last 10 years, I have actively sought to understand the human psyche, people have always sparked curiosity within my spirit. This curiosity led me to study and graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where I studied Psychology in-depth. Questions of discontentment kept me looking, leading me to become a Certified Holistic Life Coach, where I spent the last 6 years learning to understand behavior, as it relates to emotional maturity and the challenges we face as Christians. Emotions are not something that we need to fear, but being aware of how they impact our life and journey is something to be mindful of. This journey of seeking healing became my own personal Babylon because I wasn't seeking God's heart in the matter, I was seeking my own. This is what the culture will do, it will ask you to find your identity in ALL of the wrong places, and that is exactly what happened to me. Although I was a Christian, I was allowing the question of “Who am I?” and the deceptive nature of the truth of my emotions to dictate the path and eventually lead me to a moment where God knocked me down in humility, where I have sat for the last 3 years, learning and growing through this lesson. Becoming aware of my personal feelings, desires, and wants wasn't necessarily what led me to my personal hell. It was the belief that my emotions were the truth of which I was seeking. They were a truth, for only a moment, but they were not the truth. This has brought great clarity to the teachings of Paul as we learn to take captive our thoughts and make them obedient to Christ. But before this awareness, I was seeking identity in all of the wrong places, because I was filled with hurt and trying desperately to find healing. I have since watched how God has redeemed this part of my story, not just for me, but as a reminder that he can redeem even the most broken of us. That hole in my heart that I sought to fill with everything that culture was selling, eventually led me right back to the healing arms of my savior… where I belonged the entire time. Let this be a warning to you of the deceptive nature of your emotions, and how they may be telling a completely different story. If you listened last week then maybe you'll remember, “You may be wrong about you.” I know I was. You don't have to do this alone though, Jesus is that healing balm and will love the sinful nature right out of you - if only we seek him and we seek him earnestly. __________________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. Learning to walk with God is not just about asking for what we want, but it is also about learning how to listen. For most of us, listening involves more than just preparing to talk again. We often have that little voice in our head that is already preparing for what we will say next. However, active listening requires us to stop that voice and be present in the current moment. This is a powerful practice that can be very helpful as we build our faith walk. Learning to ask questions and waiting for the answer is a spiritual discipline. It may not come immediately, but with time, dedication, and an earnest heart, we can trust that the Lord will reveal himself to us because "he rewards those who seek him earnestly." I want to challenge you with a question. As you ask it, prepare your heart for the answer. Most of the time, when I ask these questions, I am amazed and humbled by God's response. He always knows exactly what I need to hear when I need to hear it. Let this message be an encouragement to you to strengthen your relationship with God and get comfortable with listening to his responses. When we spend more time in scripture, we learn to know who God is and his character traits. If the voice you hear does not sound like it is from love, practice discernment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to you. __________________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. What was once a pit of deep darkness, became a refreshing overflowing well of the goodness of God. It took time and nurturing, but what was revealed was his power, glory, and the ability to heal even the deepest of wounds. I struggled with understanding that my identity did not need to be defined by this world, but that being a “child of God” became a foundational footing that could hold me up in the darkest of moments. The question of “Who am I?” led me to believe that I needed to box myself in and become something to share with the world, it brought me a lot of heartache, pain, and wondering that ended up taking me away from God. But his goodness brings us back. He is always pursing us, whether we know it or not. This well of his goodness continues to surprise me and help me navigate the challenges of this fallen world, but a strong place to land has become the building blocks to our relationship that changed everything. I pray that this episode helps you to solidify your God-given identity as a child of God, as you experience the deep well of God that is ready for you to witness, see, and feel. _____________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. "He Must Increase, I Must Decrease" The lies we listen to can be so detrimental to our faith walk. But what happens when we focus too much on ourselves and not enough on Him? In this week's episode, we shed light on a line from the book of John in the scriptures, where we learn that "He must increase, and I must decrease." I witnessed this concept happen in real-time this week and know that the Lord had a message for all of us. When we concentrate too much on ourselves, our past, our stories, our emotions, and the "things that happened to us," we quickly spiral into an emotional pit that becomes hard to get out of. The Bible teaches us instead to focus on Him. Let's take a look at this together and pray that the Lord helps you see where you are putting yourself ahead of Him and His will for your life. I pray that this message resonates with you. Don't forget how loved you are. ____________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. When people see me, I pray that they will first see Christ in me. I hate to admit it but I know that this isn't always what people see first. Sometimes I can be “too much” for the world, or I am way in my head, or I can be too harsh with someone. I've been a terrible witness and even worse disciple at times. Thank GOD for the gift of grace. As new Christians, we are so eager to share the gospel that we can forget that it's not about witnessing to others their salvation, but rather who Jesus is to us and what we pulled us FROM. I see many people who get caught in the religious dogma of what someone MUST BELIEVE to be saved, that we forget to talk with them about the most important part…. the love story that is knowing who Christ Jesus is and what He saved us from, the depths of our sinful nature. When we are “in the 99” we can easily forget that we were once “the one” - what did you need when you were on the outside? How did people in religious circles turn you off? Are you willing to ask if you are doing the same thing in your desire to witness? When we get this wrong, the person who once had one brick in front of their heart may leave with an entire brick wall that is nearly impenetrable… we've made it harder to reach them because we focused on the wrong thing. In this episode, we talk about how we can blow our witness. This wasn't an easy conversation. I pray the Lord uses this to bring light to your heart and a remembrance of the gift of grace. ______________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. We often can't even hear the lies that we believe, let alone speak over ourselves and our lives. In this week's episode, we dive into the practical lessons behind “taking every thought captive and making it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Our thoughts, emotions, trauma, and the like can be very subtle, even as Christians, we have unhealed trauma and beliefs that keep us in continual looping patterns and unintentionally believing the lies of the enemy, instead of speaking to the truth of who GOD tells us that we are. The sinful nature is the natural rhythm that we live in, we have to break the pattern, and drawing awareness to the stories we carry is crucial to this work. It is moment to moment, thought to thought, and Jesus helps us deeply by nurturing these wounds. Understanding the truth of scripture and learning to apply it practically to our lives is part of maturing as Paul speaks to us about. Take a listen to this week's episode and let me know what “thoughts” and “stories” you are listening to that are NOT from the Lord. _____________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. What is revival without reform? I have been pondering on the statement "What is revival without reform?" for some time now. It keeps popping in my mind, and I believe God is trying to teach me something through it. I recently stumbled upon an old note, and the words resonated with me deeply. We often do things, believe things, or want things in the name of holiness, assuming they are right, but when we examine them more closely and listen to God's heart, we may realize that we're still acting out of our human nature. As a church, we need to be ready for when revival and spiritual awakening come to our nation. To prepare ourselves, we need to ask some critical questions. What does reform in the church look like? Which areas of the church need reform? How will we handle an influx of people? How will we welcome and include new people, especially those who are new in their faith? How can we encourage the older generation to embrace people who may look or act differently from what they expect? How can the younger generation be open to learning from the older generation's experiences? Multi-generationally, we have much to mend, and we need to be careful not to be so eager for the move of God that we disregard His voice when it sounds different from what we expect. I pray this episode spark something within you that brings awareness to how God is desiring to move in this time. ___________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. This is a personal experience about how a good samaritan helped me to strengthen my faith and gain a deeper understanding of God's plan for us. During a recent trip, I faced unexpected challenges that reminded me of God's goodness and holiness. I learned that we can glorify Him in everything we do, even when things don't go as planned. In this week's podcast episode, I encourage you to remember that there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. Even if we have negative thoughts about ourselves, we need to take them captive and make them obedient to Christ. I remember the day when God revealed his true abundance to me. It was much simpler than what I had expected. After spending the whole day eating food grown from the land, I stepped into a wood-burning sauna and then dipped into a cold plunge. Despite having negative money in my bank account, God had provided in a way that changed my life and my perception of wealth and abundance. This experience of luxury was the true abundance of God, and it was unexpected and beautifully humbling. In this week's episode, I get really honest about some of the personal challenges I have been trying to overcome, including a "wellness practice" that was suffocating me with unrealistic expectations and ideas of "health, wellness, balance, and abundance." I pray, that in the year 2024, we can put aside our sinful nature and stop seeking balance. Instead, let us seek holiness and reflect on our behavior, actions, and beliefs that keep us in unhealthy and unhealed patterns. Let us think about why we do the things we do, and choose something differently. Let us strive to live a life that pleases Him so that when we reach the gates of heaven, we will hear His voice welcoming us in love. Not condemnation. Matthew 7:21-23 tells us, “On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'” ____________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too. To walk as Jesus walked, we must be willing to endure the struggles and moments of betrayal, burden, heartache, and grief that come with life. Although Jesus was fully divine, he was also fully human and experienced the same emotions and challenges that we face without falling into sinful nature. The year 2023 was a year of both growth and grief for many of us. His faithfulness and holy scripture guide us on how to endure and move forward. Trusting in Him and His timing helps us cultivate and strengthen our faith, and He uses everything we experience to bring us closer to Him and glorify Himself. It's easy to make things about ourselves, but we must remember that everything was made through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16-17 tells us, “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” God's perfect plan doesn't come without moments of growth, but Romans reminds us that we can find hope even while suffering. “And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:3-5) We can endure life's most difficult challenges because He who promises is faithful. ___________________ Join weekly for encouragement as we shed life on the words of our Father, as you remember that He is the God that Sees You, and He is the God that Sees Me, too.
