    Ivy Insights

The TX Forever podcast is an absolute gem for fans of Friday Night Lights and anyone looking for a fun and insightful podcast to listen to. From the very first episode, hosts Monica and Carley bring their unique humor and charm, making it much more than just "two funny girls watch a tv show and chitchat." They go beyond simply discussing the plot of the show and delve into various aspects such as music, cinematography, fashion, and even the Texas culture that is so prevalent in the series. This adds a whole new layer of appreciation for the show and allows listeners to pay attention to details they may have never noticed before.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is how Monica and Carley structure their segments. Each host has their own well-structured segment where they discuss different elements of the show or share personal anecdotes. This keeps things organized and allows for a balanced discussion that covers a wide range of topics. Furthermore, Carley's journey with cancer is incorporated into the podcast in a way that feels relevant and not forced. It brings depth to the conversation and offers valuable insight into dealing with tragedy, both personally and when supporting others going through difficult times.

On top of being informative, The TX Forever podcast is hilarious. The chemistry between Monica and Carley is palpable, making their banter incredibly enjoyable to listen to. Their witty commentary never fails to make me laugh out loud while still providing thoughtful analysis on each episode. It truly feels like listening to two close friends discussing their favorite show, which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that draws listeners in.

As with any podcast, there are bound to be some drawbacks. In this case, one criticism could be that some episodes feel too focused on personal anecdotes or tangents rather than on discussing specific elements of Friday Night Lights. While these moments can be entertaining, they may leave listeners craving more analysis or discussion about the show itself.

In conclusion, The TX Forever podcast is a must-listen for fans of Friday Night Lights and anyone looking for an entertaining and insightful podcast. Monica and Carley's vibrant personalities, deep friendship, and personal reflections make for a dynamic listening experience. Their analysis combined with their knowledge of film, music, football, and Texas adds depth to each episode, while their humor keeps things light-hearted and enjoyable. Whether you're rewatching the show or discovering it for the first time, The TX Forever podcast is sure to enhance your viewing experience and offer a fresh perspective on this beloved series.

This title was inspired by the last episode Carley and I recorded together: Love Letters with Lorraine. Earlier this year, I asked our guests and listeners to send in a “letter” to Carley in the form of a voice message. Took me a bit to finish this episode because sometimes these messages are too much, and sometimes they're so helpful and make me really happy ya know? It was really cathartic to listen to these - thanks so much for sending in your letters to all who did

Today, we share “The Interruptus.” I sat down at my mic (after weeping to the Season 4 finale of One Tree Hill) and verbally processed what losing Carley has been like. Carley's brother Grant, our audio engineer, also shares what this show has meant to him. You'll also hear my eulogy at the end. I decided to place the entirety of my friend Kevin Kelly's song “Soon” to open it, as it's meant so much to recently. I think it sounds like Carley talking right to me, talking to us. I'm learning loss doesn't get any easier — you don't get used it. It just becomes more a part of who you are. ***I definitely want to place trigger warning on this episode — it's raw and you might be want to be somewhere private when you listen. Love you Carley. I know I'll be seeing ya soon. -Monica ---- Link to full memorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK9znc6ZIAc&t=1s https://rutledgecancerfoundation.org/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/txforeverpod/support

This week we have our first return guest, the freshly vaccinated, L.A. based actor/writer and fan-fave, Royce Johnson (@RoyceLooksAtStuff)! Head down south with us while Tim and Lyla try to keep Jason from doing the Shark-Bait-Ooh-Ha-Ha procedure, and he responds by pulling a #FreeWilly. Monica, Carley, and Royce concur that Mexico’s smokiness is due to an overabundance of sizzling fajitas and that these high schoolers’ parents are wildly inattentive. However, this episode has some bright spots - some involve feeding two birds with one scone, some involve our beloved murder duo Tyra and Landry. We dive into Coach’s misogyny, drunk Tammy, the important distinction between bowler hats and fedoras, and a powerhouse music episode! After surviving the literal rough waters of this episode, we all agree that better times for Dillon lay just on the horizon! We are getting into the infamous weeeeds of Season 2 with S2E4: Backfire y’all. Actor and improv coach Tara Copeland (@tara_copeland) [Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000), GLOW (2017)] brings a lot of joy and hilarious exasperation at the plot pointlessness of this episode. We have a lot of late night laughs (aka 9pm which is late for us now) and we talk about the misfires in this ep, but also the reasons why the greatness of this show is still very much in there. Jason is getting serious about that shark blood in Mexico, Lyla’s white saviorness is on full blast, and Coach Daddy is home. Enjoy Tara’s unicorn headphones. Follow us all on IBDB. Oof. We loved this episode: Waverly talking honestly to Smash about her bipolar disorder, the bro hang on the field, and the just-cheesy-enough Tyra and Angela dance crash. FACT CHECK: This isn’t the last episode Waverly’s in (thank God).
