WRSP Radio presents the final episode of Weekend Sports Huddle from WRSP Radio with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. While the Chicago Cubs trounced rival St. Louis on Friday night, the Cubs lost their first series versus the Milwaukee Brewers this week and dropped into second place in the NL Central. Pollin will explain what happened in the two shutout losses for Chicago versus Milwaukee. Right after discussing the young hitter struggles for the Pittsburgh Pirates last week, manager Clint Hurdle dropped Gregory Polanco and Josh Bell in the batting order. Can a Pirates club with Corey Dickerson and Francisco Cervelli batting third and fourth, respectively, find ways to score enough runs to win games despite a struggling pitching staff? Our hosts will weigh in. In the second half of the show, our hosts will move over to the junior circuit to discuss the biggest storylines from the American League. And finally, each host will name his favorite moment from our time with WRSP Radio. It's all coming up on this edition of Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you apart of the show. WRSP Radio presents the 52nd episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. The Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates are meeting once again at Wrigley Field this weekend. While both teams have reasons to be optimistic about their future, the two rivals are headed in opposite directions at the moment. We'll take a look at the NL Central. Then in the second half of our show, our hosts will analyze the Washington Capitals first Stanley Cup victory. The Capitals ended their fans long suffering with a 5-game victory against the Vegas Golden Knights. While Vegas experienced a tremendous season, Washington is finally a champion. We'll cover that from every angle possible. It's all coming up on this edition of Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 51st episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. The Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates met this past week to play their record 2,500th game, and it didn't disappoint. Behind a comeback effort Tuesday, the Cubs took the series, but hardly anyone is talking about that. On Memorial Day, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo pulled off a controversial slide into home plate that began a league-wide discussion. Was it dirty? Our hosts will share their differenting opinions. Adding to the drama, Pirates pitcher Joe Musgrove slid hard into second base later in the series in an attempt to break up a double play. Was it any different than the Rizzo slide? We'll take a look. In the second half of our show, we'll glance into the Stanley Cup Finals. Holcomb has an explanation as to why the Golden Knights are in the finals and will argue this series could bring something that hasn't happened in hockey since 1987. It's all coming up on this edition of Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 50th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. While Dave is still out on vacation, Hunter returns this week to discuss the National League division races with Tom. Our hosts' preseason division winner picks -- the Nationals, Cubs and Dodgers -- all entered the weekend in fourth place of their respective divisions. Who is in the worst shape? Can all three climb out of their hole? We have your answers to start this Saturday. Then, we will preview the most improbable Stanley Cup Finals matchup in the history of the NHL. The Washington Capitals will go for their first championship against the darling Vegas Golden Knights, who are in their first season as an expansion team. And familiar faces will square off, as five former Penguins are on the Golden Knights roster. We'll dig deep into those storylines and chose a winner. It's all coming up on this edition of Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 49th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. Dave and Hunter are unable to appear on the show this week but Tom has Our Turf Football's Chicago Bears beat reporter Wanda Wiedman joining him this week as guest co-host. A majority of Chicago football fans can't seem, or even want to hide their excitement for the coming season. Tom will be asking Wanda what her take is on the Bears accomplishments this offseason and whether fans should come down off their pending playoffs highs and temper their expectations a bit. They'll also talk about news coming out of OTA drills this week then travel around the rest of the NFC North to start gauging the competition for the 2018 season. Our hosts have been teasing over the past couple of weeks that the show will address Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's comments about their third round selection of quarterback Mason Rudolph. Dave and Hunter, our resident Steelers experts may not be here but Wanda has opinions to air about the Pittsburgh quarterback's statements. Tom and Wanda will finish with a look at the Cubs and the rest of the NL Central. The Major League Baseball schedule has reached the quarter-pole and the Cubs are finding their run through the division every bit as challenging as last season. We want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 48th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. Hunter won't be on the show this week but Tom and Dave still have plenty of talk to entertain you on today's show. To open we'll give the post-mortem to the Pittsburgh Penguins season after their loss in six games to the Washington Capitals. We'll break down what went wrong in games five and six and talk about the fan reaction to the loss. We'll also compare the fan's reaction to how Blackhawks fans reacted in 2013 after losing the Western Conference finals in overtime to the Los Angeles Kings. Also, is the window still open for another Stanley Cup run or is it time to retool. After that we'll dive headfirst into baseball conversation. Andrew McCutchen received a standing ovation in his return to Pittsburgh last night. Those fans were rewarded with a double in five at-bats and an 11-2 victory by the Pirates. After that we'll move to Chicago where the Cubs are taking on the White Sox this weekend at Wrigley Field. The White Sox are attempting to take the same road to postseason success that the Cubs did, and finding that road just as bumpy. The Cubs dropped them by their own 11-2 score last night. They're also dealing with another Yu Darvish adventure that we'll discuss. We'll break it all down and we want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 47th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. Weekend Sports Huddle has another full show for you today. First, we break down the playoff series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals with the help of guest and NHL writer Sammi Silber. We'll have everything you need to know about the series before puck drop for Game 5 on Saturday night. In the second half of our show, our hosts will review the historic Friday night in baseball. In addition to the Los Angeles Dodgers throwing the first combined no-hitter in franchise history, Albert Pujols reached another milestone in his incredible career. Is it his most impressive yet? We want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 46th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. Weekend Sports Huddle has another full show for you today. First, our hosts will discuss the 2018 NFL Draft. While the Chicago Bears seemed to have landed smart selection with all their picks, the Pittsburgh Steelers left many experts puzzled. However, Hunter Hodies will provide reasons for why the Steelers made all the right choices. In the second half of our show, we head to the ice to discuss the Penguins comeback victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 1 of the second round on Thursday. It was vintage Penguins-Capitals as Washington blew a 2-0 victory, and Pittsburgh stole a victory against their rival. Will they also win Game 2? We'll break down Game 1 and look ahead to the next several games of the series. We want to make you apart of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 45th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodes and producer Dave Holcomb. After dominating victories in Philadelphia during Games 3 and 4, the Pittsburgh Penguins had a chance to eliminate their cross-state rival at home Friday night, but they were unable to close the deal. The Penguins were flat to start Game 5, and despite strong second and third periods, the Flyers prevailed, 4-2, to extend the series. Can the Flyers force a Game 7? Our hosts will debate that and the other remaining playoff series' in the NHL. And believe it or not, but the 2018 NFL Draft is just around the corner. Actually, the first round is next Thursday, where many experts are expecting as many as six quarterbacks to be drafted in the first round. Where will each land? Which has the best chance of success? Each host will all make a bold prediction in an extensive preview the draft. Of course, the draft isn't all about the quarterbacks. There's plenty of other stars at other positions. Out hosts will take a look at the other highly-regarded prospects and see who the Bears and Steelers might target in the first round. We want to make you part of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 44th episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodes and producer Dave Holcomb. The NHL playoffs have begun. The Pittsburgh Penguins got off to a blazing start in the battle of Pennsylvania, beating the Philadelphia Flyers, 7-0, in Game 1, but the Flyers responded with a resounding 5-1 victory in Game 2. The series shifts to the east side of the state for Game 3 on Sunday. Our hosts will review the first two games and then look ahead to how the next three games could shake out. The Pirates-Cubs played their first series of the season this past week, and the Buccos took two of three at Wrigley Field. But the first-place Pirates aren't really the story. Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle made some negative comments about Cubs second baseman Javier Baez on Wednesday night, asking where is his "respect for the game?" As expected, that wasn't received too well from Baez and Cubs manager Joe Madden. Was Hurdle comments unfair or warrented after Baez flipped his bat following a lazy pop up in the second game of the series. Our hosts will all weigh in We want to make you part of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 43rd episode of the second season of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodes and producer Dave Holcomb. The NHL takes center stage this week with the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Who will the Pittsburgh Penguins be skating against in the first round? We'll also break down the other possible match-ups in the Eastern and Western Conferences and give out predictions on what teams to watch out for. The Chicago Blackhawks announced last week the even though the team will be staying home for the playoffs for the first time since 2008, general manager Stan Bowman and head coach Joe Quennville will be back for next season. Is that the right move for the franchise? To finish the show we'll take a look at the Los Angeles Rams' moves this offseason. Have the Rams made their down-payment on the Super Bowl LII Lombardi Trophy? On paper they definitely look like the favorites. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in at 517-387-1417 or tweet us @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 42nd episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. The Final Four is here, and Loyola-Chicago is in the national semifinals for the first time since 1963? Will the Ramblers' magical run continue Saturday versus Michigain? We'll have that and a look at the Villanova-Kansas matchup at the top of the show. Next, our hosts will discuss a couple rule changes in the NFL and MLB. The NFL will begin using a new helmet-and-helmet rule that doesn't allow defenders to drop the crown of their helmet into opposing players. While the league has the right intentions in mind, there's still a lot of ambiguity in the rule at the moment. We're just two days into the baseball season, but all three hosts also have an early reaction to the new limited mound visits in the MLB. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 41st episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. March Madness has continued this weekend and so have the upsets. The darling of the tournament, Loyola-Chicago, is in the Elite Eight and will play Kansas State on Saturday. But while the left side of the bracket is chaos, the right side is filled with blue blood programs. Is this where the upsets stop? Our hosts will let you know what they think with their Final Four predictions. Believe it or not, baseball season is here. The MLB begins its season on Thursday. With Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole, the Houston Astros are arguably better than they were a year ago. Could baseball have its first repeated champion in 20 years or will we see a dynasty return to the Bronx. Of course, the National League will have something to say about that too. The Dodgers, Cubs and Nationals all enter the 2018 season with championship aspirations as well. Our hosts will break it all down and provide a World Series prediction. And finally, the Steelers have found a replacement for the recently released Mike Mitchell. We'll grade the team's latest signing of safety Morgan Burnett. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 40th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's March Madness - and with that comes cinderella stories and upsets. The NCAA Tournament opened with Loyola-Chicago hitting a shot at the buzzer to beat Miami on Thursday. That appeared as if it was going to be the biggest upset of the first round, but then No. 4 seed Arizona fell and top-seeded Virginia shockingly lost to UMBC on Friday night. While Tom will highlight the cinderella story that is Loyola-Chicago in our first segment, Hunter will explain why Virginia once again disappointed in the NCAA Tournament. Then it's on to NFL free agency. In the first week of the frenzy, the Chicago Bears had a huge week, adding several wide receivers to the roster. Tom will argue it's just what the doctored ordered for Matt Nagy and the new-look Bears. And we'll finish this week with hockey. The Penguins are pushing towards the playoffs, but in Chicago, rumors are circling about Joel Quenneville's job security. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 39th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. NFL free agency is about to begin, and because the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a contract extension, the Pittsburgh Steelers placed the franchise tag on Le'Veon Bell this past week. Bell has been very outspoken about the fact he wants to be paid handsomely. As important as he is, can the Steelers afford to give into his demands? Hodies and Holcomb will debate at length about this topic, which is surely one of the biggest heading into NFL free agency next week. Speaking of free agency, even though it hasn't officially begun yet, there was a slew of big moves made Friday between the Cleveland Browns making multiple trades, and the Seattle Seahawks releasing one of their best players. We'll recap all the latest important news during our show and weigh-in on the best early decisions. Next, Pitt basketball fired coach Kevin Stallings after just two seasons and will pay him more than $9 million in his buyout. Did the Panthers have any choice? We'll document Stallings' short tenure at Pitt, and then present updates from Chicago Cubs spring training. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 38th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. February and early March is known to be a little bit of a dead period in sports, but there is nothing dead about this Saturday's show. To start off, our hosts take a look at this weekend's NFL combine and the draft process. Over the last few years, it seems to have taken on a life of its own. The NFL draft has gotten so popular with content everywhere, there's thousands of mock drafts and hot takes coming from everywhere. With more information, somehow we know even less. Next up are the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are suddenly on a three-game losing streak. Goaltender Matt Murray is out with a concussion, and the Penguins allowed eight goals to the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Is it time to worry? Holcomb and Hodies will argue why they are concerned but not panicing. Finally, we'll cover a few top Chicago sports stories from the week, including Matt Forte officially retiring from the NFL. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 37th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. Believe it or not, the NHL trade deadline is upon us. It's finally time we make the NHL a priority on the show. Our hosts do exactly that with a full breakdown of the trade deadline. But first, Hodies and Holcomb will discuss and grade the ground-breaking trade the Penguins performed Friday night. The Penguins aren't the only Pittsburgh team to pulled off this week. The Pirates acquired outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Holcomb will explain why it's the best deal the Pirates have made this offseason. Our hosts will also discuss the big news in college basketball. Multiple teams were included in a Yahoo Sports report that says players illegally accepted money from agents. We'll dive into the probe and try to determine which programs may get hit the hardest. Oh and of course, we'll give a shout out to the gold medalists in women's hockey. What a tremendous victory for Team USA. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 36th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. Spring training has begun in baseball, and while the Chicago Cubs made a splash signing this past week by signing Yu Darvish, plenty of stars remain unsigned. Our hosts will begin this week's show discussing the significance of the Darvish signing but also explore why so many stars are still free agents. Next, the Olympics are on! But are you watching? Do you care? One of our hosts does but the another doesn't. We explain why and why not while ripping the lack of NHL players in the hockey tournament. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 35th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's officially the offseason in the NFL. But before we head there, our hosts will recap the exciting Super Bowl LII. In a game that saw the most yards ever in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles defense came up with a big play to edge Tom Brady for the franchise's first championship since 1960. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was outstanding and earned the game's MVP award. After our recap, we'll take a look ahead to the offseason, sharing our thoughts on the big trade between the Chiefs and Redskins from a few weeks ago. And finally, we'll end the show with some hockey. Hunter will share what he thinks the Penguins' biggest needs are before the trade deadline, and Tom wonders whether this is the end of the Blackhawks dynasty. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 34th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Super Bowl weekend and our hosts will be breaking down everything you need to know to have fun watching the game. Hunter will be presenting the case for how the Eagles win Sunday night while Tom will counter with his arguments for why the Patriots will win their sixth Super Bowl with Tom Brady at quarterback and Bill Belichick as head coach. Our second segment will kick off with the final Nostrathomas Predicts of the 2018 season. The point spread opened at the Patriots -6 and is now -4.5 with 30 hours to go until kickoff. Hunter will give his pick for the game then Nostrathomas will let you know where you should lay your money. Tom and Hunter will also look at some of the prop bets that have been established for the game. The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2018 will be announced later this afternoon and our hosts will argue which five of the 15 finalists will be selected and whether linebacker Robert Brazile, Guard Jerry Kramer and general manager Bobby Beathard should join them. The guys will wrap-up this week's show talking about the first quarterback domino that fell before the offseason officially begun. Alex Smith will play in Washington while Kirk Cousins prepares to take his turn as the highest paid player in the NFL. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 33rd episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's the final Sunday of January, and while the NFL season is winding down, our hosts will start this episode with baseball. Special guest and longtime Pittsburgh sports reporter John Perrotto will join the show to break down the 2018 MLB Hall of Fame voting results. Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Vladimir Guerrero and Trevor Hoffman were elected into the Hall this past week, but Perrotto left one of them off his list. He will explain why, what qualifications he uses in his election process and all of our questions in regards to the future candidacy of players such as Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, Curt Schilling and others. In the second half of our show, our hosts will begin to look ahead to Super Bowl LII. The New England Patriots will be playing in an unprecedented 10th Super Bowl and hope to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most championships since during the Super Bowl era. But Holcomb will explain why now isn't the time to be jealous, as the legacy of the Steelers 1970's dynasty is secure. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 32nd episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Championship Sunday in the NFL. But before we get to that, we must have a post-moderm for the Steelers 2017 season. Pittsburgh lost at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 45-42, last week to abruptly end the season. Our hosts will react to the loss and the fallout from this past week. Then it's on to Championship Sunday with Nostrathomas Predicts. Tom and Hunter take one more stab at beating the spread and recommend their best picks to our listeners. They might even have a prob bet or two this week. We'll end today's show with news from the diamond. The Pittsburgh Pirates are entering full re-build mode, as they traded both Andrew McCutchen and Gerrit Cole last week. Dave will explain how these latest moves are the worst yet from a terrible organization. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 31st episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Division Weekend in the NFL. The best eight teams remain and will battle for a chance to play on Championship Sunday next weekend. To begin, we break down the Steelers-Jaguars matchup coming Sunday. During the regular season, Jacksonville routed Pittsburgh at Heinz Field, 30-9. Can the Jaguars surprise the Steelers again? Then, it's another special playoff edition of Nostrathomas Predicts. Tom has all the best picks against the spread for the weekend, and you won't want to miss it. For the teams not involved in the playoffs, there were plenty of coaching hires this past week. We'll go our favorites and explain how Bill Belichick could still end up in New York during our Real Deal or Overreaction segment. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to make you part of the show. Call in a 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 30th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Wild Card Weekend in the NFL, but the biggest story in the league heading into the weekend was the bombshelling on the New England Patriots coming from ESPN. Could Tom Brady and Bill Belichick really be heading for divorce? Our hosts weigh-in on the report and what they expect could happen in Foxboro at the beginning of 2018. College football's national championship is Monday, but before the game even happens, there will be a championship parade in Orlando, Fla. How can that be??? Well, UCF is claiming a share in the 2017 national championship and will be hosting a parade to celebrate, ironically, the same day as the actually title matchup, and our hosts will have plenty to say about that. And as always, this episode will include a playoff themed Nostrathomas Predicts and the Real Deal or Overreation segment. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 29th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Week 17 in the NFL. That means that along with the 2017 year, the 2017 regular season will be coming to an end on Sunday. But before it does, Weekend Sports Huddle will take a look at a last-minute playoff picture. Seven of the eight divisions are wrapped up, but there are still three wild card spots up for grabs and plenty of seeding implications on the line this Sunday. But as become the norm in the NFL this month, the biggest noise in the league this week once again came from the Pittsburgh-New England rivalry. After his release last week, long-time Steelers linebacker James Harrison signed with the Patriots, setting off a firestorm of opinions both from the media and fans alike on what happened to lead to this ugly divorce. And what timing it could be. Have the Patriots found their missing piece defensively? Our hosts will weigh-in on Harrison joining New England. However, that's hardly the only hot-button topic in the Steel City. The Penguins continue to struggle, and the front office is searching for answers. Are the Penguins' problems fixable? Our hosts will also discuss the Chicago Blackhawks, who are also currently out of playoff positioning. And as always, this episode will include Nostrathomas Predicts and a special "Black Monday" themed Real Deal or Overreation segment. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 28th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Week 16 in the NFL, but before diving into that, our hosts will review what happened at the end of the Steelers-Patriots game last week. Pittsburgh appeared to have finally slayed the dragon, but then a controversial ruling and a costly interception gave New England another important victory at Heinz Field. What ramifications will come of the win? Our hosts will cover it all. Next, we look ahead at Week 16. The Bears have a very winnable game against the Cleveland Browns, but is this finally the week Cleveland wins a game? The Browns won one game a year ago, and interesting, it was on Christmas Eve in Week 16 - just the same as this matchup. Talk about deja vu? The Steelers will once again play on Christmas this year - this time the Houston Texans. Without Antonio Brown and with Pittsburgh's history of playing down to competition, our hosts will weigh-in on whether this is a dangerous one for the Steelers? And as always, this episode will include Nostrathomas Predicts and Real Deal or Overreation. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to hear your opinions! call into the show at 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 27th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. It's Week 15 in the NFL! That means the Steelers-Patriots matchup is upon us. We will preview that great showdown and the others of the weekend in the NFL. Of course, that will include Nostrathomas Predicts and Real Deal or Overreaction. December is also a great time to reopen the neverending baseball Hall of Fame induction discussion. Alan Trammell and Jack Morris were both inducted this past week, so our hosts will debate their candidancy. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to hear your opinions! call into the show at 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 26th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. We have breaking news this Saturday. The Miami Marlins have dealth reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton to the New York Yankees. This deal turns the Yankees back into the evil empire and makes them the odds-on favorite to represent the American League in the World Series next October. Our hosts will also update Ryan Shazier's status and discuss that violent Monday night affair between the Steelers and Bengals. Pittsburgh may very well have another very physical game this weekend with the Baltimore Ravens coming to town. The Chicago Bears will try to rebound against those beat up Cincinnati Bengals. Plus, Tom & Hunter have their picks for Notrasthomas Predicts and then the Real Deal or Overreaction segment. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to hear your opinions! call into the show at 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 25th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, our hosts return to the College Football Playoffs. If there are no upsets on Saturday, then the committee will not have many tough choices, but if there's just one surprise, there could be chaos in the College Football Playoffs. Our hosts run through all the possible scenarios to begin the show. Staying in college football, there was a huge story from Rocky Top in Tennessee this week. The Volunteers hired Greg Schiano to be their next head coach, but then after a social media mob, Tennessee couldn't sign Schiano to an official contract. Hunter, Tom and Dave debate the ramifications of the latest going on in Knockville. Next is Week 13 in the NFL. Can the Chicago Bears pick up a much needed victory versus the San Francisco 49ers? Our hosts honor Halladay's memorable, reflecting on his remarkable career. Next is Week 10 in the NFL. Coming off their bye weeks, the Steelers and Bears are ready for the second half of the season. Pittsburgh plays AFC South opponents twice in a five-game span, and while they could dominant both foes, Holcomb argues there are things to worry about with each matchup. However, Hodies will explain why he strongly disagrees. As for the Bears, Pollin will explain why its time for the Bears to open things up offensively with rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Our hosts will also get to a strange story invovling tight end Martellus Bennett, who is back with the New England Patriots after the Green Bay Packers released him this week. WRSP Radio presents the 21st episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, our hosts begin once more with the exciting 2017 World Series. The Houston Astros rebounded from a Game 6 loss to beat the Dodgers on the road and capture their first World Series title. We'll congratulate the Astros and explain how they dethroned the mighty Dodgers while also taking a look back to see what went wrong with LA. Next, the Steelers and Bears are both on bye weeks this Sunday, but there are plenty of story lines still surrounding those teams. Pittsburgh allowed Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford to throw for more than 400 yards last week, but the Steelers still held the Lions to just 15 points. We'll take a look at how Pittsburgh has brought its defense back to a championship level. In Chicago, everyone is still talking about the Zach Miller no-catch. On a play where Miller suffered a gruesome injury, the tight end hauled in what appeared to be a touchdown, but upon review, the official ruled he didn't complete the process of the catch. Our hosts will argue how ridiculous the legislature of the rules have gotten in the NFL. This episode will also include Nostrathomas Predicts and the top storylines from the NFL in Real Deal or Overreaction. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. We want to hear your opinions! call into the show at 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.
WRSP Radio presents the 20th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, our hosts start with the 2017 World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers were six outs away from going up two games against the Houston Astros, but Houston rallied for an exciting extra-inning Game 2 victory Wednesday night. Now with their victory Friday, the Astros find themselves ahead in the series 2-1. How will the Dodgers respond? Can they get the series back to Los Angeles? Our hosts weigh-in on what the rest of the series could hold for baseball fans. Next, the Pittsburgh Steelers revisit the site of their Super Bowl XL victory as the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but the Steelers don't visit the Motor City this time without quite a bit of drama. Pittsburgh suspended wide receive Martavis Bryant for this Sunday's game after his Instagram post complaining about his playing time. While Hunter will defend the beleaguered wideout, Dave will argue the Steelers had no choice but to send him home. In Chicago, the Bears have won two straight games for the first time in nearly two years. The Windy City is extremely excited about its rookie signal caller, but actually, it's the defense carrying the Bears at the moment. This episode will also include Nostrathomas Predicts and the top storylines from the NFL in Real Deal or Overreaction. It's all coming up on Weekend Sports Huddle. WRSP Radio presents the 18th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, our hosts start with the MLB playoffs. The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals just finished a classic divisional series with the defending champions coming out on top. After their Game 5 victory, the Cubs will advance to their third straight championship series. But it came at the expense of the Nationals, who still haven't won a playoff series in their franchise history. Tom & Hunter will break down the ramifications of each series and then look ahead to predict the odds of Chicago beating the Los Angeles Dodgers and getting back to the World Series. While the Astros took a 2-0 lead against the Red Sox on Friday afternoon, the Yankees tied their series with the Indians. In the second half of our show, we will cover Week 5 in the 2017 NFL season. Finally, the Chicago Bears will start Mitch Trubisky, but that is one of many story lines for this Sunday. Will the Rams prove they are for real against the Seahawks? WRSP Radio presents the 16th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. This will likely be a very memorable episode of Weekend Sports Huddle. That's partially because last Sunday was a momument Sunday for the NFL. In response to President Donald Trump's speech in Alabama last Friday night, where he called players who kneel for the national anthem "sons of bitches", upwards of 180 players around the league joined the protest, taking a stance for social equality. Also on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced they would visit Trump in the White House next month to celebrate their Stanley Cup championship. That announcement came the same weekend where the Golden State Warriors were debating not attending. In the first half hour, our hosts will react to the growing national anthem protest and the Penguins decision. In the second half hour, we hope we can return to debating things from the field. The Steelers visit rival Baltimore this Sunday in what will decide the first-place leading in the AFC North at the quarter mark of the season. Both teams are coming off tough defeats, and the lose of this one will fall to 2-2. While the Chicago Bears upset the Steelers last Sunday, they fell flat to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Are we any closer to seeing Mitch Trubisky behind center? Our hosts will weigh in on that. Finally, this episode will also include Nostrathomas Predicts and the new popular Real Deal or Overreation segments. If there's time, we will also get to the scandal emerging in college basketball. We want to hear your opinions! call into the show at 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.

WRSP Radio presents the 15th episode of the second year of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin, Hunter Hodies and producer Dave Holcomb. The Chicago Cubs are in Milwaukee for a pivotal series against the Brewers, but with two wins to open the series, the Cubs are inching closer to a second division title. Tom shares what the Cubs must do in order to lock down the NL Central next week. It's also Week 3 on the NFL season. The Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers will meet for the first time since 2013. The Bears have won the last two meetings between these old NFL foes, but do they stand a chance against the Super Bowl contending Steelers? It's hard to argue they do with Mike Glennon still at quarterback. Glennon turned the ball over three times in Week 2 against the Buccaneers. How much longer will it be until we see Mitch Trubinsky? The Steelers are 2-0, but they aren't exactly free of controversy either. For the first time in his career, veteran James Harrison didn't play a single snap against the Vikings last Sunday. Afterwards, Harrison reportedly left the locker room early. Dave and Hunter weigh-in on the seemingly unhappy linebacker. This episode will also include Nostrathomas Predicts and the new popular Big Deal or Overreation segments. We want to hear your opinions! call into the show at 516-387-1417 or tweet @wkdsportshuddle.

The Indians have written their names into the record books, but does this Cleveland team own the all-time winning streak record? Our hosts will debate at the top of the show. Then, our three hosts will dive completely into the start of the NFL season. While one rookie back had an impressive debut for the Chicago Bears, All-Pro Le'Veon Bell had a slow start out of the gate for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last week, we previewed the AFC, so it's now the NFC's turn. It's Labor Day Weekend, which brings about one question - are you ready for some football? This week's episode will be full of football topics for both college and pro. But first, we begin our show with the Chicago Cubs, who appear to be on their way to a second straight NL Central title. Could they be a dark horse in the National League playoffs to make a push also a second straight World Series championship? As the Cubs have surged, though, the Pirates ship has sunk. With Pittsburgh 10 games back, they are officially out of the race, and all eyes have now turned to the team's ownership, who continues to display actions of cheap petiness. Our hosts will explore that and where the Pirates are headed in 2018. Then, it's football time. This week, Tom, Hunter and Dave will discuss the biggest storylines of the AFC and the likelihood Lamar Jackson can repeat as the Heisman Trophy winner.
