The numbers jump right off the screen, when it comes to looking up his stats. Even in an era where power reigned supreme. His 612 home runs rank eighth on the MLB all-time rank and his 1,747 walks rank seventh. Only six player have totaled 1,700 Walks and 1,699 RBI in the history of the game; Babe Ruth, Mel Ott, Carl Yastrzmeski, Ted Williams, Barry Bonds and Thome. A former Cleveland Guardians power hitter is taking over as a manager in Chicago. No, not Jim Thome, it's Richie Sexson. He is taking over for the Windy City Thunderbolts. We talk about the Thome rumors. We talk a little Sexson then take some time to appreciate Hank Peters. While Sexson was a John Hart selection it was during the Peters era that the majority of the great 90s team was built. We get a little nostalgic and talk about some of the other trades from that era. Next, we spend time on the Gold Glove finalists. The Guardians have five of them and should end up with a few winners. We get into some of the statements that were made today that were just odd. We talk about who should win and why. If you missed the announcement the following players were named as finalists Andres Gimenez, Jose Ramirez, Shane Bieber, Steven Kwan, and Myles Straw. Last we talked about the catching position, and why it is going to be a much harder position in a year. There are a pair of rules that will lead to more stress on defense at the position. We focus on what the Guardians have, and why it still makes a lot of sense for them to pursue Sean Murphy this offseason. We get into what makes Sean Murphy so special and why we still think he could be a massive improvement. We also get into how they might be able to utilize Sean Murphy and Bo Naylor at the same time by using a player who is currently tearing up the Arizona Fall League. Eloy Jiménez debuted for the Chicago White Sox in 2019 but because of injuries, Sox fans haven't seen what he can truly do as a hitter. In 2022, Jiménez played in only 84 games but 65 of those games came after the All-Star break. In the second half, Eloy put up big numbers and stayed relatively heathy as he was primarily the designated hitter. Despite his desire to play leftfield, Jiménez should lean in to the role of designated hitter especially after the numbers he put up post mid-season break in 2022. The White Sox desperately need to get better defensively and Eloy is a liability in the outfield. As the off-season takes shape, the Sox should be considering Eloy Jiménez as their primary DH in 2023. Also, the White Sox managerial search continues as former Sox slugger, Jim Thome, is mentioned as a possibility.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
