As David is remembering God's salvation for His people, Israel, he is also praising God as the One whose power and glory are over all authorities. How can we learn from verses we may not easily understand? Today, Join the Journey staff member Lauren Atkinson considers the context while studying Psalm 73. The author, Asaph, was a righteous man who was despondent as he saw the prosperity of the wicked. How can we balance petitioning God for help while placing our confidence in Him? Today, Emma Dotter is joined by Join The Journey staff member Lauren Atkinson to talk through Psalm 71. David appeals to God's righteousness and asks for God's refuge while recounting God's faithfulness in the past, present and future. This psalm provides a model for how we can pray as we praise God for His character and ask Him to act according to who He is. What is the importance of waiting in silence before the Lord? In Psalm 62, David is placing his trust in God while facing hardship and problems in his life. Who are we trying to promote in our lives, us or God? Can God take the Holy Spirit away from us? Today, Emma Dotter unpacks Psalm 49, where David is begging God to not remove the Holy Spirit from him after he committed a grievous sin. Thankfully, as believers, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit when we are saved and cannot have Him removed from us. What happens when we trust in money? In Psalm 49, the psalmists lay out how wealth gives us a false sense of security because temporal solutions cannot solve eternal problems. Why are we called to confess to the Lord if he already knows our thoughts? In today's episode, faithful Watermark member T.J. Job is asking the exact questions that we may be feeling as we read. Emma Dotter interviews Ben Krejci, a Watermark member and consistent friend of the podcast. Ben articulates two common problems believers can have when trials come: we have a hesitancy to ask God questions, and we have a hesitancy to be frustrated.
