Discipleship The Way of Life... ACTIVE Participant?

In DTWOL... ACTIVE Participant? We'll dive into what it truly means to be an ACTIVE Participant in the only true God's redemptive plan for fallen humanity. Through the gospel, the ministry of God the Holy Spirit, and the transforming power of God's living and active Word, we discover that discipleship is far more than attendance, observation, or agreement—it is active participation in the workmanship of God. From the pilot's door to the driver's door, from the home to the workplace, every disciple has been specifically made, deliberately purposed, and lovingly placed to proclaim Him where ABBA has planted you. Most people may not understand all the theology, but they can surely see the evidence of God's supernatural disciple-making workmanship as His fruit becomes visible in the lives of His disciples. The question is not whether we are participating in something—but whether we are actively participating with the only true God in His eternal purpose.Key verses: 1 Corinthians 9:23-25, Romans 1:16-17, Romans 10:14-15, Philippians 2:13, Galatians 5:22-23. In DTWOL... What ABBA Does! We'll be diving into how many people unknowingly measure the only true God through the lens of broken earthly relationships, wounds, disappointments, and painful experiences that could distort their understanding of who ABBA truly is. In this dive, we examine what Scripture reveals about the faithful workmanship of ABBA—how He sees, remembers, rescues, adopts, disciplines, transforms, forgives, restores, and continually works within the lives of His disciples. Through biblical truth, personal testimony, and practical discipleship, we discover that ABBA is not unjust so as to forget the labor of love demonstrated toward His name but remains faithful to complete the workmanship He began. Join us as we explore remembering not only what ABBA has done throughout Scripture, but also what He continues to do today in the lives of those who love and trust Him. God's Word: Key verses: Hebrews 6:10; Romans 8:15; Philippians 1:6; Psalm 77:11; Hebrews 13:8. DTWOL… Parents! is a heartfelt and sobering dive into the eternal responsibility of discipleship within the home. Through Scripture, personal testimony, and practical truth lived in motion, this Godcast challenges parents to awaken to the spiritual influence shaping the hearts and minds of their children every single day. From correction and consistency… to marriage, spiritual leadership, repentance, grace, and generational stewardship… listeners are reminded that children are watching footprints long before they understand theology. And while no parent walks perfectly, the only true God is able to transform hearts, homes, and future generations through faithful discipleship rooted in Jesus Christ. Because parenting is more than raising children for today… it is participating in the future workmanship of disciples yet to come. God's Word: Key passages: Deuteronomy 6:6–7, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4, Joshua 24:15, and Galatians 6:9. In this message from Matthew 14, Pastor Karl explores two seemingly separate events — the beheading of John the Baptist and the feeding of the five thousand — and reveals how they are deeply connected as a portrait of two contrasting kingdoms.Drawing on the parallel between Herod's banquet and Jesus's meal in the wilderness, Pastor Karl shows what sets the kingdom of the world apart from the kingdom of God: one ends in death, self-service, and corruption; the other in life, compassion, and abundance. Through the stories of Elijah, Elisha, and Moses, he demonstrates that the disciples had all the history they needed to trust Jesus in the moment — and yet, like us, they forgot. At the heart of this teaching is a simple but powerful truth: you are insufficient, but you are not useless. The kingdom of God doesn't have a supply problem — it has a distribution problem. God has never asked how much you have. He only asks what you have — and what you place in his hands, he multiplies.Discipleship, Pastor Karl argues, always involves cost, courage, compassion, commands, and cooperation. The good news is that the Good Shepherd is more than sufficient for all his sheep.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

But what if the condition of our relationships is revealing something deeper?Through personal testimony and the truth of God's Word, this episode uncovers the difference between knowing about Jesus… and having a relationship with Him. Because while many claim knowledge, Scripture reminds us that knowledge alone is not enough—love is the evidence. As we explore how sin can fracture relationships and how love restores them, we are brought back to the source of it all. The only true God has not only created us for relationship—but commands us to love one another in and through our relationships.“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” — John 13:35 (NASB1995)So, the question is…Do you have a relationship with Jesus… or just knowledge?God's Word: Matthew 22:37–38; 1 John 4:8; John 13:35; Romans 5:5; Romans 13:10;Additional Scripture references are woven throughout the Godcast and can be gleaned from the full transcript. In DTWOL... Story Part 2 is a continuation through Luke 15. We'll uncover the often-overlooked heart of the older brother—one who stayed near the Father's house; yet remained distant from the Father's joy. This episode reveals that being close in proximity to the things of God does not guarantee alignment with the heart of God, exposing how comparison, self-righteousness, and performance can quietly replace compassion, grace, and a true understanding of the Father's heart. Through Scripture and real-life reflection, you will be challenged to examine whether your relationship with God is rooted in works or in true surrender. The Father's response reminds us that His invitation is always open—not just to the wandering, but also to the one standing outside the door. Whether far from God or near without understanding, the call is the same: come in and share in the joy of what only He can restore. God's Word: Key verses: Luke 15: 25; 28-29; 31-32; Matthew 20:15; Ephesians 2:8-9. Send us a textWhat if the most spiritual thing you do this week is build something that lasts? We dive straight into a gutsy thesis: God is glorified not only by private devotion but by public fruitfulness—by redeemed people building enduring work, institutions, and cultures under the lordship of Christ. Anchored in Luke 19's parable of the minas, we examine stewardship that multiplies, the danger of burying potential, and why faithful risk is a sign of faith in God's character. From there we get practical. We unpack calling through two levers—ownership and opportunity—and make the case that motion beats overthinking. We talk about the inner life that fuels outer fruit: prayer that asks bigger, self-talk that aligns with Scripture, and habits that carry us when feelings fade. Competence matters, and so does confidence, defined as keeping promises to yourself. We touch on structured discipline like 75 Hard, the value of paying to learn so you actually pay attention, and a simple ethic of excellence every day and every way. Then we widen the frame to scaling and legacy. You haven't truly built until the work can live without you. Teaching what you know creates capacity and multiplies impact. We explore money as a magnifier and reproducer, pushing past guilt toward generous stewardship that creates jobs, lifts communities, and funds mission. The heart check is plain: are people blessed because you are building? We close with continuity and courage. Valleys shape endurance; mountaintops clarify direction. Lone-wolf Christianity fails, so we lean into community to go far. Don't kill ambition—aim it. Trailblazers take arrows, but scars become currency in God's kingdom. If faithfulness turns to fruitfulness, and fruitfulness to expansion, the outcome is inheritance that outlives us.If this resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend who's building, and leave a review with one bold, God-sized goal you're committing to this year. Let's shine where we work and give our Father glory.Support the show

Send us a textWhat if the kingdom of God becomes visible not in our theories but in our steps? Dietrich Bonhoeffer's theology reframes discipleship as embodied obedience—showing up in prisons, sharing real mutuality, and trading religious privilege for humble responsibility. In this episode, Bishop Wright has a conversation with The Rev. Dr. Jenny M. McBride, Associate Rector of All Saints' Atlanta and president of the International Bonhoeffer Society. Jenny shares how reading Bonhoeffer at an urban house of hospitality opened a door from evangelical ideas to lived formation. That path led her into prison classrooms where fashion small talk mingled with raw theological questions, and where “helping” gave way to being helped. They discuss Luke 10's sentness, why belief grows when we go where Jesus intends to go, and how visiting the incarcerated unmasks our craving for superiority. Responsibility becomes the antidote to Christian nationalism's power hunger, and repentance becomes a daily practice that forms courage and tenderness. Listen in for the full conversation. The Rev. Dr. Jennifer M. McBride (Ph.D. University of Virginia) is Associate Rector at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Atlanta. Previously she served as an Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Theology and Ethics at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and held the Board of Regents Endowed Chair in Ethics at Wartburg College in Iowa. After a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Religious Practices and Practical Theology at Emory University, McBride directed a theology certificate program for incarcerated women through Emory's Candler School of Theology.McBride is author of You Shall Not Condemn: A Story of Faith and Advocacy on Death Row (Cascade, 2022), Radical Discipleship: A Liturgical Politics of the Gospel (Fortress, 2017), The Church for the World: A Theology of Public Witness (Oxford University Press, 2011), and is co-editor of Bonhoeffer and King: Their Legacies and Import for Christian Social Thought. In addition to book chapters and scholarly articles, her work has appeared in popular publications like The Christian Century and CNN.com and has been featured in the New York Times.McBride is the recent past president of the International Bonhoeffer Society – English Language Section, an organization made up of scholars, religious leaders, and readers of German pastor-theologian and Nazi-resister, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. She serves as co-editor of the T&T Clark book series, New Studies in Bonhoeffer's Theology and Ethics. She is married to Dr. Thomas Fabisiak, who is the co-executive director of the Georgia Coalition for Higher Ed in Prison and Associate Dean at Life University, where he runs a college degree program for women in Georgia prisons. Support the show Follow us on IG and FB at Bishop Rob Wright.

A Dallas, Texas intersection turned into my holy ground! It was the Light cutting through fog, life breaking into death. In this episode, I share how a near-collision at Midway & Alpha became the moment God moved me from religion to relationship—and how your testimony can do the same in someone else's life. This Godcast moves from story to Scripture to Savior, showing testimony isn't self-spotlight, but God speaking through redeemed lives. Grace doesn't quiet us... it sends us. Not with tales of our Egypt, but with Exodus steps. Not eloquence, but “Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” Not culture's noise and confusion... but with the living Word, sharp and tender. Now, GO! GOD MOVES FIRST! And no one, not one, will be able to deny it!Before breath, before belief, before obedience — His love initiates, His Spirit awakens, and His workmanship forms a disciple who doesn't just learn truth but lives it. In every season — wilderness, joy, trial, abundance — His movement produces our motion: worship translated into action, fruit becoming seed, testimony turning into disciple-making. This isn't self-powered striving but Spirit-led transformation — the Vine's life flowing through branches that bear divine eternal fruit. And when His disciples “GO,” they don't go alone; they ride the current of the same divine love that parted seas, causes deliverance, and walked out of that tomb.
