Join Rev. Nicole Unice as we delve into the heart of living a Christ-centered life. Nicole brings to life her message "The Answer is Always Jesus," drawing from the book "Surprise the World." She challenges us to live 'questionable lives' - lives that noticeably differ due to our following of Jesus in our relationships, cultural engagement, and daily actions. Nicole navigates the complexities of sharing faith authentically, addressing common struggles and misconceptions. She insightfully explores how different generations approach spiritual questions, from 'What is true?' to 'What is beautiful?', offering a fresh perspective on evangelism across generational gaps. With practical advice and heartfelt stories, Nicole encourages us to see evangelism not as a burden, but as a natural outflow of our love for Jesus. She emphasizes the power of God's grace in our lives, and our calling to witness through our stories, inspiring us to embrace our role in God's grand narrative. Join us in discovering how to effectively and joyfully share our faith in everyday life.

"Our hearts were drawn to the call of a prophet this April 2023 conference weekend. He reminded us that the easiest way to identify a follower of Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people. He told us that charity is the principal characteristic of a true follower of Christ, how charity defines a peacemaker. He promised us that if we would follow his counsel, we would arise as a spiritually strong woman of Christ. And then he told us the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others. The prophet invited us to examine our discipleship, to make adjustments so that our behavior would be representative of a true follower of Jesus Christ. To live and interact with others in a higher, holier way. “I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.” For the next six months, we plan to accept this invitation. In April and May, we will learn to UNDERSTAND HIS LOVE as we study the life and attributes of the PEACE GIVER. In June and July, we will study how to FEEL HIS LOVE as we find ways to experience PERSONAL PEACE. In August and September, we will discover how to SHARE HIS LOVE as we learn how to become PEACEMAKERS.Love gives second chances. Love asks, How can I help? Love is the welcoming in. Love doesn't stand higher, but meets people where they are. Love is never too good for someone. Love is full of grace. Love does not call attention to self. Love has an understanding heart. Love assumes the best. Love will not stand for injustice, helps carry the burden, creates trust, has high hopes and expectations. Love doesn't leave when things get tough.Love never fails. We look forward to spending the next six months with you!"

Today's Reading: Acts 9:1-22Daily Lectionary: Zechariah 1:1-21; Romans 14:1-23"Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine." (Acts 9:15a)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The Lord has a funny way of choosing, doesn't He? He finds an unbeliever, His harshest critic, His biggest enemy, an infamous persecutor. And says, "Here's my guy!" On what basis does God choose us? Certainly not on the basis of the Law and its works. No, God does not choose you because you love or believe in Jesus, any more than He chose Paul that way. Yes, you do love and believe in Jesus. But as with Paul, that doesn't come first. Jesus comes first. Jesus always comes first. And second. And third. And last.Don't look at it as though you are saved because you love Jesus. You love Jesus because you are saved. It's the same with believing. You're not saved because you believe. You believe because you are saved. You don't come first. Or second. Or third. Or at all in the matter of salvation. Only Jesus does.Think Jesus, then. Think the Cross. Think Baptism. Think the preaching of the Gospel. Think the Holy Supper. Leave you, the sinner, out of it, because it is not at all on the basis of the law and its righteousness that God chooses for you. It's all by His grace (Romans 3:23-24), by His love (1 John 4:10, 19), by His choosing (John 15:16).When Paul was baptized, "Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes" (Acts 9:18). Smile at that. For while it is debatable whether Paul ever regained his physical eyesight (Galatians 4:15), he now had the converted and clear eyes of faith. God chooses us, chooses Paul, chooses you, chooses me, chooses sinners now, because of Jesus. And only because of Jesus. "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost" (1 Timothy 1:15). Those are Paul's words to Timothy and to us. They remind us that it's all Jesus. Always Jesus. Only Jesus. That there is no surer ground for us, no surer confidence before God, than Jesus. Only Jesus. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Almighty God, You turned the heart of him who persecuted the Church and by his preaching caused the light of the Gospel to shine throughout the world. Grant us ever to rejoice in the saving light of Your Gospel and, following the example of the apostle Paul, to spread it to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Collect for the Conversion of St. Paul) -Rev. Bradley Drew is pastor of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Metairie, LA.Audio Reflections Speaker: Pastor Duane BamschPastor-psychiatrist duo Rev. Happy Easter! Today Pastor Dustin Clegg walks us through Mark 16: 1-8 as we talk about the Resurrection Story. Dustin points out that (1) the resurrection of Jesus always changes the assignment of those pursuing Him; and (2) if you have gone too far, Jesus conquered death specifically for you. How do we apply this to our daily lives? ALWAYS JESUS. ONLY JESUS.

Only Always Jesus Pastor Jonathan Thornton July 14, 2019
Sermon for The Holy Trinity, June 16, 2019, by Rev. Matthew D. Ruesch
There is a good that God has in store for his people. It begins when we decide to follow Jesus and allow him to call the shots in our life. As we follow him, he changes our character to be more like his. And as he changes us, we begin to understand and undertake the good works that he has prepared for us to do. But if we want to be a part of God's overcoming evil with good, we must allow him to change us for the good. Check out Part Twelve of Alpine's series, "Always Jesus" and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd shares about how God works in us to be more like Jesus and through us to do good in a world that desperately needs it.
At the core of the HOPE Jesus offers is the idea of "eternal life". It's the kind of life that finds its power and purpose in what God is doing in the world. It overflows from an identity the world can't give us and results in a responsibility that we can't ignore. It's the kind of life that begins with a decision to follow Jesus and moves us to celebrate and share his good news with the world around us. And it's something we need to fight for. Check out Part Eleven of "Always Jesus" and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd shares how the HOPE of Jesus makes us strangers and aliens in this world (and why that's a good thing!). Only when we embrace our alien identity can we live out the kingdom responsibility that God has called us to.
WHY IS OUR FAVORITE STORY ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS starring Mary and Baby Jesus and Joseph and Angels only in 2 of the 4 Gospels? (Arguably 3 Gospels, but not at all in the Book of Mark?) EPISODE 12 is a party! Hear why we think we can make an album of animal sounds. Answer: Jesus. Always Jesus. We can do all things through Christ. J And we answer an Audience Question of the Day out of Texas: “Am I a lousy Christian?” And today we discover (again) that sometimes the legitimate answer to, “How’s your morning?” is “Pass.” But there is also this encouragement: Don’t let other people distract you from what you KNOW God has spoken to you. Nobody else is gonna hear it like you. So also, forgive other people for not seeing the new thing God is doing in you. It wasn’t for them. He gave it you.
Some relationships are worth fighting to keep. Others are worth fighting to break. When it comes to the flesh (the sin nature that still lives in us), the only option for a follower of Jesus is to fight for the breakup. But when the whole world seems set up to keep us in a relationship with our flesh, where can we turn to make the break? Check out Part Ten of Alpine Chapel's series, "Always Jesus", and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd shares about the good, the bad, and the better when it comes to our relationship with our flesh and the hope that Jesus offers.
Some people get uncomfortable when he's brought up in conversation. He has a mixed reputation among followers of Jesus. But if there was ever a time when we needed to get over our awkwardness when it comes to the Holy Spirit, though, it's now. If we're going to know the hope of Jesus in our own lives and share that hope with others, we need to know when the Holy Spirit is speaking and what we need to do about it. Join Alpine Chapel for Part Nine of Alpine's series, "Always Jesus", and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd helps us understand what it means to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit among the many voices that try to steal our attention.
There's a lot that can be said about the Bible. One thing that needs to be said, though, is that our relationship with it is complicated. That's because too often we treat it as an object to be understood rather than an opportunity to be taken. What would change in our relationship with the Bible if we started seeing it through our relationship with Jesus? Check out Part Eight of Alpine Chapel's series, "Always Jesus" and listen as Staff Pastor Alex Gowler calls us to clear the air in our relationship with the Bible and start reading it through the lens of our relationship with Jesus.
You heart is on a journey. Where is it headed? Few of us have ever taken the time to ask that question. We can get so wrapped up in the details of our lives that we lose sight of the direction our lives are headed. When it comes to receiving the HOPE that Jesus offers for our personal lives, though, we can't afford to miss what God wants to do with our hearts. Are you willing to go on the journey? Join Alpine Chapel for Part Seven of "Always Jesus" and take part in a conversation about what God wants to do with our hearts and how we can cooperate with what he wants to do.
Everyone needs it. Everyone wants it. And yet few people actually seem to have it. What is it? Rest. When it comes to our occupational lives, rest has an incredibly important role to play. The problem is that most people think rest is something that they have to earn or deserve. But what if rest is actually a gift from God? What would change about the way we rest if we had a better understanding of where our rest comes from? Check out Part Six of "Always Jesus" and listen as Staff Pastor Alex Gowler rounds out the conversation about HOPE in our occupational lives with this question: when it comes to work, what if the proof of our hope is the measure of our rest?
What if you didn't have to worry about the future of your work? What if, whatever happened, you knew that your work was in the hands of God? What would you do differently? What would you be able to say "no" to? And what blessing could you bring to others since your work wouldn't have to be about you? Join Alpine Chapel for Part Five of our series, "Always Jesus" and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd shares the story of Joseph, a man who went from favorite son to slave to prisoner to ruler of a nation, and what we can learn about our work from God's work in his life.
What does God think about your work? Have you ever stopped to consider that? Whatever it is that occupies your time, whether it's at home or at the office; paid or unpaid; what does God think about it? If you're not sure, you're not alone. That's why Alpine is starting a conversation about what happens when Jesus enters into our occupational lives. Check out Part Four of "Always Jesus" and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd helps us understand what God thinks about our work. And where we begin is by acknowledging that HOW we work is infinitely more important than WHAT our work might be.
When God designed the family, he designed something beautiful. Our home lives were meant to be examples of God's love for us, expressed through our love for one another. Many times, though, this design sounds more like a daydream. But if we know anything about God, it's that he is able to make all things good again if we're willing to embrace his design and desires over our own. Check out Part Three of Alpine's series, "Always Jesus" and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd addresses the HOPE the Jesus brings to our home lives. By looking at the story of Abraham's family, we discover God's plan for all families: to be blessed by God so that we can be a blessing to others.
Do you believe that God has a plan for your family? Better yet, do you believe that God's plan for your family is better than the plans everyone else has (including you)? Our response to that question will determine whether or not we'll experience God's best in the relationships that matter to us the most. Join Alpine Chapel for Part Two of "Always Jesus". Listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd continues the conversation about the difference Jesus makes in our home lives. The key is figuring out whether we will allow our family relationships to revolve around God or try to force God to revolve around our families.
Followers of Jesus are men and women who have recognized an important truth: we cannot be what God created us to be without Jesus. We may try to get the best out of our lives by pouring ourselves into our families or jobs or dreams, but ultimately these things take way more than they give. The life that Jesus offers is "life to the full", but it only comes when we make the decision to put Jesus first in our lives. Check out Part One of Alpine's new series, "Jesus Always", and listen as Lead Pastor Dave Mudd shares what it means to put Jesus first in our lives. It's more than making Jesus our number one priority. It's making him our only priority and watching the rest of our lives fall into place.
Always all the time in all things GOD JESUS is one.
