Are we born essentially good? Is sin just a learned/mimicked behavior or are we born sinners? Join Kristen and Shanna as they delve into and discuss the doctrine of sin. Stay tuned to the very end to hear two super cute guests!Doctrine of Sin - Humanity, by nature and apart from Christ, is broken by sin, declared unrighteous, separated from God, under the judgment of God against sin, and destined for hell. Sin has fractured all things, leaving the world in desperate need of salvation.Scripture mentioned:- Romans 5:12- Romans 5:14- Romans 5:18- I Cor. 15: 22- I Kings 8:46- Romans 3:23- John 8:34- Ephesians 2:3- Romans 3:10-12- Jeremiah 17:9- Ephesians 2:5

When Religious People Get Saved! Acts 19:1-10 One of my favorite things to do is help people get the rest of the _________________ about Jesus and about how they can become born again believers! Paul's ________________ to minister in Asia Minor is finally realized! V. 1 Paul waited three years for God's timing on the matter. In these days of people having to have instant gratification, it is neat to see how Paul modeled for us how good it can be we obey God's instructions and ____________________ on the Lord! Paul's teaching helps religious people get saved! V. 2-5 Many have pointed out that their answer shows they were lost. But Paul's question shows that the apostles understood true believers ___________________ the Holy Spirit the moment they believe! See John 7:37-39 Romans 8:9 Ephesians 1:13 Twelve new Gospel Warriors are _______ apart! V. 6-7 Narrative literature must be understood in light of clear doctrinal teaching. Narrative literature reveals the record of what happened; Doctrinal literature reveals what the Triune God ______________ us to believe and act on. Paul's faithfulness leads to ___________________! V. 8-10 Key Teachings about Speaking in Tongues from I Cor. 12-14 Read I Corinthians 12:7-13 and 27-31. Here Paul says that speaking in tongues is a gift that some but not all believers get. Therefore anyone who says that speaking in tongues is the evidence of salvation or being baptized by the Holy Spirit are simply wrong. ALL true believers receive the Spirit – SOME believers may have the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues (known languages). The more excellent way that Paul refers to is love, which he speaks of in I Cor. 13. Then in chapter 14 he comes back and bears down on speaking in tongues… 14:19 -Paul would rather 5 spoken words be understood than 10,000 that can't! 14:27 –No more than 2 or 3 should speak in tongues. 14:27 – They should speak one at a time. 14:27-28 – There must be an interpreter present. If not, keep silent. 14:29 – What is said is to be evaluated (by scripture). 14:40 – Everything must be done decently and in order. Now I have been around speaking in tongues about 30 times. Only once did I see any effort made to incorporate that clear and binding teaching on the proceedings.
Genesis 3:11-19; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7; Romans 12:10, Galatians 6:10 Sermon Notes:1) Our past and present separate us from God and others, Gen 3:11-19 2) Our Savior has comforted us so that we might comfort and connect to others, 2 Cor 1 3) Our Savior has left us examples of comfort and connection, Acts 4:34- 37; I Cor. 10:6 4) Our Savior has left us commands of comfort and connection, Rom 12:10 5) Our Savior has not left us without comfort, 2 Corinthians Reflection Questions:1. How does our sin nature keep us from connecting with God and others? Do we ever forget how much remaining sin we still have even after God saves us? See Romans 7:7-25. 2. Can you think of a time when the God of all comfort comforted you in a way that allowed you to comfort others? See 2 Cor. 1:3-7. 3. Barnabas (Acts 4:36) was a nickname that meant “son of encouragement.” Can you think of someone you know who is a Barnabas? How might you become more of a Barnabas? Also, Titus was apparently a Barnabas, too. See 2 Cor. 7:5-13. 4. Have you prayed that God would give you more opportunities to do good (Gal. 6:10), or that you could recognize the opportunities that you already have? Have you prayed that God would help you to outdo (Rom 12:10) your neighbors in showing honor to others? 5. Do you ever worry that God will let you overdo it in caring for others? Consider this prayer from St. Augustine: “Lord, command what you will, but then grant what you command.”

In this episode, Pastor Cindy talks about the importance of understanding the full access we, as children of God, are given to the things of Heaven. We are privileged to be able to receive everything He wants to give us. And because He is so good, He has made a way for us to have it all through faith. Everything He has is ours. Join Steve and Sarah for Behold Part 3, as they dive into the Behold Passages surrounding the shepherds and Simeon. The shepherds show us that God will use the poorest of the poor, the despised and frowned upon— regular old folks to do miraculous, God size things! The scripture is clear that every time we disqualify ourselves, we are qualifying ourselves for the work of God, because WE are the kinds of weak people He intends to use. He wants to use you! Simeon shows us how to wait patiently for Jesus. He waited patiently for the first coming of Christ. We must wait patiently for the second coming of Christ. The Holy Spirit also rested on him. Why? Because He was a devout and righteous man. The Holy Spirit is given to those who are devout and seeking the righteousness of God! _____Verses: Luke 2:9-10 I Cor. 1:26-29Luke 2:25 ---------SUBSCRIBE ▶️ Receive our latest videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/PastorSteve...ABOUTPastor, author and speaker Steve Berger is known for his straight talk in dealing with various hot-topic cultural issues that many pastors avoid.

Last week Jon spoke on loving the poor and this week Morgan spoke on multi ethnic churches. He kicked us off with a joke centered around how divisive the church is today. There are so many divisions among Christians, denominations, etc. We live in a divisive world and the church shares it's own version of division. We have to be carful because as the world secularizes, it will lean towards politics. Politics is no longer a way to lead and solve problems. Politics is now a way to divide and it's thick within the church. We cannot be discipled by political talking points instead of being discipled by Jesus. Christians in the early church were heavily persecuted. Why would anyone want to be a part of the most persecuted group? These 5 characteristics are what stood out among the early Christians: Showed love and hope to the poor Importance of multi-ethnic groups and diversity Committed to the sanctity of life View of sex was counter-cultural to the mainstream Committed to non-violence. If you look at these 5 things and consider politics, the first two are in line with democrats, the next two are in line with Republicans, and neither really align with the 5th. Redeemer needs to follow Jesus and not a political party. The gospel offends both parties. Morgan stated that the next few weeks we will tackle tough topics and we each need to pay attention to the tension these topics main bring. Press in and dig deeper. Let God meet you. Our scripture was Acts 15: 1-35. The scripture shows conflict. Acts 15 is a watershed moment in the Bible. This is the first major dispute over how fast multi-ethnic churches were growing outside Jerusalem. This moment challenged what it meant to be Jewish vs what it meant to follow Jesus. They were planting Multi-Ethnic churches! We read I Cor 9: 19-23 together. Paul explained how he has become all things so that he might save some. Paul had cultural discernment. He went from one side of town to the other for the sake of the gospel. "I have become...." Paul mastered this. We find that the only place Jews and Gentiles sat at the same table was the table of Jesus. Morgan provided information from studies looking at multi-ethnic churches. If you are a member of a homo-ethnic church, this can promote racism. When we are only around those who look like us, act like us, think like us, that becomes your norm. Then you start to project that onto others. A diverse community makes us aware of our blind spots. Morgan gave the example of Dietrich Bonhoeffer who experienced the "Jim Crow South" with his black pastor from Harlem. If he would have not experienced this, he would not have been the anti-Nazi force later in his life. Please remember that proximity breeds empathy and distance breeds suspicion. Spend time with those different than you. Be a good listener and try and see things from other points of view. Jesus is the ultimate "I have become...." Looking more at the text from Acts, Peter tells them "You know God wanted us preaching the gospel to the Gentiles." Some were surprised that "Even the Gentiles were filled with the Holy Spirit." Peter comes back to Jerusalem with criticism from the Jews. Morgan reminded us that who we eat with communicates our theology more than we know. Peter was experiencing this. This all led to the letter basically telling the Gentiles they did not have to assimilate. We should not be putting road blocks up for anyone seeking Christ. How do we engage culture with the gospel? How do we steer away from colonialism which tries to force assimilation? What message are we sending as a church? Are we crating a space for differences? Are we creating a pathway for ALL to become leaders in our church? Morgan encouraged us to do the following... Listen and learn. Stop talking and really listen to those with different life experiences than you have. The church has done a poor job in the past of not lamenting our lack of diversity or our encouragement of separation. What does this look like for us as a church? Create a habit of self examination. We all have work to do. https://redeemerwichita.church/

The act of giving thanks—whispered at each common meal, or once a year at family dinners on big holidays—is an early, hopeful flag that grace has come to live with us. For a moment—for one long, exhaling moment—we acknowledge the truth of what the apostle wrote 2000 years ago: “You are not your own: you have been bought with a price” (I Cor 6:19-20). For an instant, the guard is down, the drawbridge open, and we admit that we aren't self-made or even self-sustained. The castle of our lives has always had a Guardian, a Protector. All that we are, and all we have, and every structure that secures us has been given, not deserved. Even what we say we've “earned” is undeniably built on gifts too numerous to count. When I say “thanks,” I confess that there is something—Someone—wider, bigger, and more gracious than any defense I muster or every good I do. So we learn grace through gratitude. And even as we teach our children to “Say thank-you,” the Spirit prompts us each to murmur private “Hallelujahs.” Throw wide the gates, and cross the moat. Release yourself. And stay in grace. -

Delight Your Marriage | Relationship Advice, Christianity, & Sexual Intimacy
Often preparing for Thanksgiving is the real STRESS. So -- guess what!? Make love now, so you have a connected, peaceful, and truly enjoyable Thanksgiving next week. ... Duty sex…this is such a huge challenge for SO many couples - on both sides of the aisle! Husbands and wives, how does our personal approach to sexual intimacy affect our spouse? Does sexual intimacy within our marriage lead us toward one another or away from one another? And if it often or sometimes leads us away from each other, is that our Creator's intention? How do we fix this? Can it be fixed? The fact of the matter is, the answers to these questions can be hard to come by! There just isn't a lot of guidance out there for couples who want a God-honoring sexual relationship in their marriage! If sexual intimacy is a gift from our Creator - and we know that ALL of His gifts are good - then why is this area of our lives so often filled with hurt and pain? Does it really matter whose fault it is? Playing the blame game doesn't fix the problem, does it. Can one spouse change the dynamics in our marriages? YES - a thousand times, YES!! We've seen it! We've experienced it! Here at Delight Your Marriage, God has blessed Belah with a lot of really good advice and encouragement for couples in this specific arena. Yes! There are principles that we can learn and apply to help us grow in our relationships - not just in the area of sexual intimacy, but in the overall connection within our marriage. This is what Delight Your Marriage is all about! Okay, now this is THE bonus piece of information here that we hope you don't miss because it can be cliche or common to our ears: THE key of loving others well is to be filled up with Jesus' love and to lean into loving Him well! He IS love! As we grow in His love, the fruit of the Spirit becomes more abundant in OUR lives! I Cor. 14:1 “Pursue love…” Would you pause right there and snatch that and think on it for a bit? I'm dead serious! You know, we're similar to a tree. Have you seen a branch on a tree that is partly broken off? What does the branch generally look like? A lot of times the leaves are shriveling up, right? The health of the branch is directly correlated to how well the branch is connected to the trunk of the tree. Are we feeling shriveled up? Are we feeling unfruitful? Are we struggling to experience the abundant life that Jesus has offered to us? …That's a good gauge that we need to check our attachment to The Vine. Do you need some guidance, accountability, and encouragement to grow in these areas? We want to help you! ... We are not currently offering a free men's course, as this is a repost of this episode, but we do invite you to schedule a free Clarity Call with our course advisor. This is an opportunity for you to be heard...to share your story, to evaluate where you are in your marriage and life journey, and whether or not our courses may be the right fit for you or not. We love you and wish you a peaceful and grateful-filled Thanksgiving!! On behalf of Belah and the rest of our team, Darcy Office Manager PS From a Masculinity Reclaimed graduate: "Today my wife and I celebrate our … Anniversary, and thanks be to God our marriage is better than it has ever been. As I sat this morning writing my daily gratitude's and LTP's (going strong), I am overcome with gratitude for how helpful your ministry has been. Going through the program last fall was truly one of the most transformational hinge times in my life - first drawing myself closer to the Lord, and only from that coming first did we experience some unbelievable changes in our marriage. By Gods grace, we've always had a "good" marriage - free from major issues or troubles, but since have learned how wonderful God really intends for this union to be. Ups and downs persist, they always will, but DYM has helped show me the tools & knowledge to navigate them and have a thriving and God honoring marriage. I am forever thankful for DYM. Thank you for following your calling and your dedication. Have a wonderful weekend and God bless!!!" We share these testimonies because God is SO good and He wants good in your marriage, too! We want to inspire hope and faith in you! Nothing is too difficult for Him!

If you find yourself too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired (better known as HALT) you are likely to give into your weakness. But GOD will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can handle. Let the comfort you find in this help you overcome any temptations you may encounter today. I Cor 10:13
(I Cor. 2:14). (I Cor. 2:15). El hombre “Así que yo, hermanos, no pude hablaros como a espirituales, sino como a carnales, como a niños en Cristo.” (I Cor. 3.1)
"E, tendo dado graças, o partiu e disse: Tomai, comei; isto é o Meu Corpo que é partido por vós; fazei isto em memória de Mim. Semelhantemente também, depois de cear, tomou o cálice, dizendo: Este cálice é o Novo Testamento no Meu Sangue; fazei isto, todas as vezes que beberdes, em memória de Mim. Porque todas as vezes que comerdes este pão e beberdes este cálice anunciais a morte do Senhor, até que venha." ICoríntios 11:24-26
Teen Innovator's New AI Tool Helps Create Affordable Drugs The U.S. has some of the highest prescription drug prices in the world, which can push patients into bankruptcy over medications they cannot afford. More than three in four American adults think the prices of prescription drugs are unaffordable, prompting the Senate to recently pass a bill intended to help lower prescription drug costs for seniors. One young innovator set out to find his own solution. 17 year-old Rishab Jain developed ICOR, a tool to improve the rapid production of drugs like COVID-19 vaccines. Ira talks with Jain from Portland, Oregon, about his innovation and vision for the future. When Trapping Invasive Bugs Is Science Homework The spotted lanternfly, an invasive species, was first introduced to the U.S. in Pennsylvania, around 2014. Since then, it has spread aggressively, and has now been spotted in 11 states. The bug is pretty—adult spotted lanternflies are about an inch long, and feature striking spotted forewings and a flashy red patch on the hindwings. But they are also very hungry, and pose a significant threat to agricultural crops, including grapevines. Many control efforts have focused on either stomping the insects on sight, or on spotting and destroying the egg masses that the lanternflies lay in the fall. However, researchers have been developing trapping techniques for the bugs as well. One, involving a sticky band looped around a tree, is effective—but can also snare other insects and even birds. Experts at the Penn State Extension have come up with a new style of circle trap for lanternflies, based upon an existing trap for pecan weevils. Now, STEM educators at Rutgers University are using that design as the starting point for an engineering design challenge, asking K-12 teachers and students to come up with improvements to the design. There's a big difference between this school year and last: All children are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. This means the risk of disease will likely be way down, compared to the past two autumns, according to vaccine researcher and pediatrician Paul Offit. But for kids who have already been infected by COVID-19, will the vaccine add meaningful immunity? “My answer to that question is yes,” Dr. Offit tells Ira. “Then you can be sure that they will then develop the kind of immunity that will likely lead to fairly long-lived protection against serious illness.” Ira and Dr. Offit also discuss the risk of monkeypox and polio spreading in schools, and how to best keep our kids safe against infectious disease this fall. The Countdown Begins For Humanity's Return To The Moon NASA's largest and most powerful rocket ever began inching its way to Launch Pad 39B at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Tuesday night. Over twelve years in the making, the long-delayed, over-budget Space Launch System rocket is finally nearing its first chance for liftoff at the end of this month. The August 29th targeted launch will mark the beginning of the Artemis program—NASA's series of missions designed to send humans to the Moon and, eventually, Mars. The multi-billion dollar orange rocket now stands taller than the Statue of Liberty, resembling a colossal upside-down carrot. Its maiden uncrewed flight will carry a trio of mannequins equipped with radiation sensor vests in preparation for crewed flights slated for 2024. These future missions will be the first to return people to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. Read the rest at sciencefriday.com.
