Whoa look out, we have a six film review, comin right at you. As always these are 70's movies we watch and report back to you. We have at least 150 more movies that we will do full watch and review episodes on, but we still watch many many more. If you like or know these films, here's a chance for more talk, yay. And if you don't, then we can recommend or warn. First we have love story 1970 This was a blockbuster hit, let's find out why. We don't. Next we have Claudine 1974 a wise film with 2 people from Star Wars movies. Then there's this shit, Chosen survivors 1974. I just found out that Barbara Babcock and Jackie cooper both spoke out after this about the inhumane treatment of animals in film, too little too late for the bats in this but I'm grateful someone finally said something. (Swarzenegger punches camel in protest) Next is Obsession 1976 Brian Depalma's weird film that I thought had Donald Sutherland in it, it doesn't. But hey 1979's a man a woman and a bank does, it's also got on of my most favorite directors acting for some reason, that's cool and we'll tell ya all about it. Finally we review the island 1980 and this film is packed with guns, explosions, pirates, and the great master control from tron. We do hope you enjoy.
A Taste of Armageddon was the twenty-third episode of Star Trek's debut season to air, with a civilisation locked in perpetual war against its neighbour. In this episode Gerry and Iain discuss the merits of self-disintegration. When the Enterprise is refused permission to approach the planet Eminiar VII, visiting Ambassador Robert Fox (Gene Lyons) overrules Kirk's instinct to comply and a deadly chain of events is set in motion. Greeted on Eminiar's surface by Mea 3 (Barbara Babcock), Kirk and Spock are initially confused by reports of devastation and deaths incurred in an invisible war, before learning from the planet's leader Anan 7 (David Opatoshu) that the war is simulated, with casualties required to report for disintegration. Worse, the Enterprise has been considered destroyed, like a previous visiting starship, and all aboard are called on to surrender their lives. A Taste of Armageddon was directed by Joseph Pevney, one of his record-tying fourteen Star Trek episodes. The writer was Robert Hamner with producer Gene Coon also working on the script. In this episode Gerry and Iain considered whether war has any benefits. You can listen to the show here on the website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Pocket Casts, TuneIn, Stitcher, Google or wherever you find your podcasts. A Taste of Armageddon was released in 1967. It is 50 minutes long and originally aired on the NBC network. It can be viewed on CBS All Access in the United states, Netflix in the UK and is available on DVD and Blu Ray in other countries, including a comprehensive remastered set of all three seasons released by Paramount Home Entertainment.
The Squire of Gothos was the seventeenth episode of Star Trek's debut season to air, with an impetuous adversary testing Kirk's skills to the limit. In this episode Gerry and Iain discuss planets that chase you, however hard you try to escape. On their way to deliver vital supplies to a colony, the Enterprise and her crew are waylaid by an impossible planet, previously uncharted. When Kirk and Sulu are kidnapped by Trelane (William Campbell), the enigmatic Squire of Gothos, Spock must lead a rescue mission. Spock's landing party includes crew members Jaeger (Richard Carlyle) and Lasalle (Michael Barrier), whose European ancestry is of particular interest to their temporary host until his 'parents' (Barbara Babcock and Bart La Rue) appear. The Squire of Gothos was directed by Don McDougall, his only Star Trek episode. The writer was Paul Schneider, who also penned Balance of Terror. In this episode Gerry and Iain considered the consequences of getting entangled with more powerful life forms, however irritating they may be. In 1962, Professor Fred Rodell of Yale Law School, the "bad boy of American legal academia," asked his students to write scripts describing important Supreme Court cases for the "Second Series" of his "Supreme Court Cases" recordings. The scripts were directed by S.P. Puner, performed by John Randolph, Jack Curtis, and Martin Wolfson, and released on LP by Educational Audio Visual, Inc. in January 1963.According to the record sleeve:The arguments of the lawyers in each of these cases are paraphrased from the language used in the original briefs of the contending parties. However, in all cases when the Court speaks, we have quoted the exact language of the judge delivering the opinion, taken from the official report of the case. The opinion, of course, has been condensed and necessary connective words or phrases have been added. The script for each cases was prepared by Yale Law School students in Professor Fred Rodell's Course in Law and Public Opinion. The script for Chisholm v. Georgia (1793) was written by Barbara Babcock, who became a professor at Stanford Law School. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
