Karstee believes in radical vulnerability because depth, support and healing have had a profound impact on revealing all of her dynamic layers. She shares with beautiful candor about her journey learning to embrace a felt sense of femininity and how she has learned to fall compassionately in love with herself and share that with other people. Dr. Eric Maisel is a bestselling author, psychotherapist, and creativity coach. He's the author of 40 books on a wide variety of subjects, from the challenges of living the creative life to natural psychology, the new psychology of meaning; those books including Fearless Creating, The Van Gogh Blues, and Coaching the Artist Within. A licensed psychotherapist, he reaches thousands through his Psychology Today and Fine Art America blogs, his print column in Professional Artist magazine, and workshops in the United States and abroad. He's an advocate for a changed and revitalized view of mental health services, one that does away with our current mental disorder naming system. He's also an advocate for a global paradigm shift from seeking meaning to making meaning, a very crucial distinction that we'll talk about today. His latest book, LIFE PURPOSE BOOT CAMP, recently released on New World Library, talks about that very shift, as he helps readers who are seeking meaning in their lives understand how, by adopting certain ideas and engaging in specific practices, they can effectively meet their pressing life purpose challenges.  To do that, he suggests that readers do three things, which he explains in great detail in the book: get clear on what their unique life is all about, upgrade their personalities, and manage their circumstances as mindfully as they can. We talk all about that, along with his life journey, and how he lives his own life "on purpose". For more information on Eric, visit: http://ericmaisel.com.

This week, with very special guest Jennifer Lee.. Mind Grapes: Alli enjoyed some end of summer live entertainment with Bard on the Beach's production of The Tempest. Jen gets an advanced look at If I Stay. Sam remains inspired by the Book Camp authors and reads The End of East by Jen Sookfong Lee. Class Z(ed): Jen and Sam were the leads for Vancouver Public Library's Teen Writing and Book Camp this year. They talk about pulling off a week-long event for over 100 tweens and teens, the challenges of large-scale planning, and the rewards that come with creating a unique, safe, and creative space for a group of talented and enthusicastic young writers. Mind Grapes: Sam's been reading Susin Nielsen's absorbing, overlapping tales of Vancouver teens after catching the YA bug at Book Camp; Constance is all about Oscar Wilde right now, including big works and small, and reminds us of the nuance lost in some modern adaptations; Alli - in fact, all of us - LOVED Guardians of the Galaxy, but can see where it could have been even better. Where Do We Put This?: Constance is here to tell us about bringing steampunk into the library. She's developed a toolkit for creating library displays, programs, reading lists, and even educational content for kids and adults related to the genre, aesthetic, and attitude of steampunk. Visit the Steampunk Library, email or tweet at Constance, or check out some of the steampunk works she suggests, including Soulless by Gail Carriger, Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld, The Gentlemen of Steampunk by Evan Butterfield, and the Steamposium convention, where she'll be appearing next month!
