In this episode, we continue our series drawing from our training with Roy Moran and Aila Tasse. In this conversation, Roy shares the importance of focusing on the generators in disciple-making movements and reflects on several key shifts in his thinking and practice. He begins by telling parts of his own story and how he became involved in movements around the world. Key Shifts in Roy's Thinking & Practice Conversion vs. Discovery & Disciple-MakingRoy highlights the difference between aiming for a moment of conversion versus facilitating discovery through disciple-making. He notes that the “line of faith” concept has shaped much of Western thinking, yet it's not something we actually see in the Gospels. Discovery Bible Studies—often led by those who aren't yet followers of Jesus—play a crucial role here. Faith in Function, Not FormInstead of focusing on structures or models, Roy urges us to trust the function of disciple-making. When we start with making disciples, ekklesia—church as Jesus intended—naturally emerges. Groups Over IndividualsMovements multiply through groups, not isolated individuals. Catalysts fuel multiplication, while what Roy calls “accidental diminishers” slow it down. Marketers vs. Terrorists (Revolutionaries)Roy draws a striking analogy: marketers are loud and central, while revolutionaries are subtle, quiet, and operate at the edges, identifying people who are already open to change. They are also needs-focused. He warns that our well-intended spirituality can sometimes get in the way of our humanness—and that curiosity, especially in the West, has become a lost art. Learning Designers vs. Content ProvidersRoy re-examines what we mean by the biblical gift of teaching. Is it merely telling? Research shows that questions, not statements, facilitate genuine learning. Movements thrive when we design ways for people to discover rather than receive information passively. Leading People Toward vs. Leading AwayCatalytic leaders create processes where “it can't happen without me, but it can't depend on me.” This becomes a litmus test for our methods:Can people do this themselves, and can they pass it on? Focus on the Generators, Not the Generations Roy emphasizes that one of our common mistakes is focusing on generations (how many steps down the line) instead of generators—the multipliers who spark ongoing reproduction. When we cultivate generators, the generations take care of themselves. He illustrates this with the pandemic's “R number,” which showed how quickly a virus could spread. Christianity, he suggests, can sometimes inoculate people from the very thing it's meant to spread—we become addicted to visible success and move on when things don't seem to be working. But movements don't emerge from quick wins.They are formed through long periods of small, consistent acts of obedience, which eventually become visible. Roy calls us back to staying faithful to the basics of disciple-making—and to keeping our eyes on the generators.

What if the exhaustion you feel isn’t a personal failing, but simply your body fighting against a system it was never designed for? What if the burnout, the people-pleasing, and the relentless grind aren’t character flaws, but signs you’re running the wrong energetic blueprint? Human design expert Emma Dunwoody reveals a revolutionary truth: we aren’t all designed to work, rest, or succeed the same way. Understanding your unique energy type is the key to finally stopping the burnout cycle and stepping into your authentic power. The Woman Who Refused Her Diagnosis At 28, Emma Dunwoody sat in a psychologist’s office, deeply suicidal, and received a devastating diagnosis: depression, anxiety, and panic disorder that she would never heal from, only learn to live with. Walking across the car park that day, Emma faced two options: end it all, or work out how she got there and find a way out. She chose the second path, embarking on a profound healing journey that eventually led her across 800 kilometres of Spain on the Camino pilgrimage, searching for her true purpose. Within 48 hours of returning home, human design appeared everywhere in her life. It was the exact missing piece she’d been seeking. Now at 50, Emma is a master coach, author of “Human Design Made Simple,” and host of The Human Design Podcast, on a mission to take this transformative system mainstream. The Science of Differentiation Human design is what Emma calls “the science of differentiation,” a system that presupposes we are all completely unique, and that this individuality itself is valuable and important. It reveals five distinct energy types, each designed to work, rest, and create success differently. Manifestors are the initiators who start the flame. Generators are the builders of sustainable energy for what lights them up. Manifesting Generators are the hybrids who demonstrate human potential, moving fast and multi-passionately. Projectors are the guides who see deeply into systems and improve efficiency. Reflectors are the truth tellers who mirror back collective reality. The problem? We’ve all been conditioned to operate the same way, following systems designed for one type while forcing everyone else to adapt. The result is epidemic burnout. Two Types of Burnout You Need to Know Emma distinguishes between two fundamentally different burnout experiences. Non-sacral types (manifestors, projectors, reflectors) experience complete shutdown. They literally cannot continue and end up on the couch or in the doctor’s office. Sacral types (generators and manifesting generators) experience what Emma calls “functional burnout.” They keep going and going, but disconnect from their passion and life force. They’re exhausted but can’t stop. Life becomes Groundhog Day without joy or meaning. Understanding which type you are changes everything about how you prevent and recover from burnout. Stop Treating Others Like You Emma challenges the golden rule we’ve all been taught: treat others as you would like to be treated. Human design says the opposite: treat others as they are designed to be treated. This shift removes projection and honors each person’s unique blueprint. In parenting, it means understanding that generator children need three sports a week to discharge energy, while projector children need quiet rest after absorbing everyone’s energy at school all day. In business, it means building teams and systems around people’s actual energy, not forcing everyone into the same mold. Your Superpowers Have Shadows Every aspect of our design has both a superpower and a shadow side. For manifesting generators like Emma and host Catherine Plano, the superpower of high energy and multi-passionate capability becomes a shadow of overworking, lack of boundaries, and people-pleasing. Deconditioning means becoming aware of these patterns and consciously choosing differently. Once you understand your shadows, you can reclaim your superpowers and use them intentionally rather than unconsciously. Building Business by Your Design Emma teaches entrepreneurs to stop following someone else’s seven-figure launch formula and instead build businesses aligned with their unique design. Her own seven-figure business thrives with three manifesting generators on the core team, defying traditional advice about needing different types. The key is understanding each person’s energetic blueprint and creating systems that support rather than drain their energy. Success comes from alignment, not force. The Experiment That Changes Everything Emma emphasises that human design isn’t dogma but an experiment. Everything You Seek Already Lives Within You The magic, the power, the answers all exist inside you right now. Human design helps you access what’s already there, revealing the brilliant being you were designed to be. Never Give Up on Your Heart’s Knowing If your heart tells you something is for you, even when you don’t know why or how, never give up. Trust that you’re on the path, becoming the person who can receive what you’re calling in. Be patient and persistent. This milestone underscores the company's pivotal role in supporting the maritime industry's transition to cleaner, more efficient shipping. "Reaching 500 orders is a milestone not just for The Switch, but for the shipping industry as a whole," said Jussi Puranen, Product Line Director for Electric Machines. "Every shaft generator we deliver directly reduces CO? emissions, helping shipowners cut fuel consumption and comply with tightening environmental regulations. This number reflects both our customers' commitment to sustainability and our team's dedication to cost-effective, tailor-made engineering. Considering that we delivered our first shaft generator only ten years ago, it also shows how fast the green transition in shipping is taking place." Reducing CO2 emissions with permanent magnet shaft generators Shaft generators harness the main engine's power to produce electricity for a vessel's onboard systems, significantly reducing reliance on auxiliary diesel generators that run with lower fuel efficiency. Permanent magnet shaft generators improve fuel efficiency and cut greenhouse gas emissions, making them a key technology toward meeting the International Maritime Organization's (IMO's) target of achieving net-zero emissions by around 2050. Permanent magnet shaft generators are estimated to cut carbon emissions compared to conventional shaft generators with electric excitation by over 100,000 metric tons per year - equivalent to the emissions of over 22,000 passenger cars with internal combustion engines. The savings are even greater compared to conventional genset-based systems - over 600,000 metric tons of CO2 annually, equal to the carbon emissions of about 140,000 passenger cars. Over 300 The Switch permanent magnet shaft generators are already fully operational, serving a diverse fleet of container ships, gas carriers, bulk carriers, tankers and car carriers. These have accumulated more than 5 million operating hours with no vessel downtime due to failures. The Switch invests in ongoing research and development to further improve the efficiency and reliability of its solutions so that shipowners stay ahead of evolving environmental standards. "Field-proven technologies like permanent magnet shaft generators are vital stepping stones as the industry navigates toward a net-zero future," added Miika Reinikka, CEO of The Switch.
