What if everything you believe about nutrition is actually making eating harder than it needs to be? In this refreshingly honest conversation with dietitian Jesse (The Redhead RD), we explore how overcomplicating food choices leads to anxiety, restriction, and broken relationships with eating.Jesse breaks down why her counseling approach rarely involves complex nutrition science and instead focuses on helping people overcome their fear of food. She explains how many clients come to her not with questions about nutrients or "chemicals," but with deep psychological barriers around permission to eat. Through practical examples and personal stories, we unpack how diet culture has created impossible standards that leave people feeling perpetually inadequate. The conversation takes a powerful turn when discussing children's relationships with food. Jesse challenges common parenting approaches like labeling certain items as "sometimes foods" or restricting treats, revealing how these well-intentioned strategies often backfire. "Kids are smart—adults make them dumb," she explains, advocating instead for balanced options without judgment or shame. Her approach focuses on teaching children to trust their bodies rather than external rules. We also tackle the world of nutrition influencers, examining how social media rewards oversimplification and absolutism while punishing the nuanced "it depends" answers that actual experts provide. From mushroom supplements to seed oil panic, we dissect why simple, often fear-based messages spread faster than balanced nutrition advice.Whether you're struggling with your own food choices or raising children in a world of conflicting nutrition information, this episode offers a refreshing permission slip to make eating simpler. Sometimes, as Jesse reminds us, "good enough" is genuinely good enough. Support the showYou can find us on social media here:Rob TiktokRob InstagramLiam TiktokLiam Instagram

"I don't like the phrase 'meet people where they are.' If you only do that, it's too easy for everyone to settle. Instead, I try to meet them a half-step ahead—and take them on a field trip to what's possible."In this episode, Jim and Sander talk about the pursuit of mastery, how to inspire growth, and why being too comfortable can kill progress. From Van Gogh's late start to corporate energy vampires, this conversation is part therapy, part stand-up, and -as usual- fully human. In this heartfelt and candid episode, Sander and Jim meet up at the Xebia studio for a conversation that blends humor, vulnerability, and inspiration. They unpack what it means to pursue mastery, how creativity emerges in unlikely places, and why many of us wrestle with the pressure of "starting too late." The dynamic duo reflects on Jim's experiences from the Van Gogh Museum, shares personal goals like writing a book and dives deep into what success truly means—especially when you feel like time is slipping away. They also tackle workplace dynamics, including how to deal with energy vampires on teams, giving and receiving feedback effectively, and staying authentic even when the work gets tough.Check out our sponsor:www.xebia.comwww.scrummatch.comwww.wiserbees.comwww.masteringagility.orgHosted by Ausha. Welcome to the second episode in a series called “The Failures of Old Earth Creationism.” Many Christians attempt to fit old earth ideology into their beliefs, adopting uniformitarian or evolutionary pieces into their worldview. While this is often done in an effort to appeal to science, it can cause major logical, scientific, and theological issues. The conversation surrounding human origins has always been an intriguing one. One of the most debated subjects is the nature of the beings labeled ‘hominids,’ particularly Neanderthals. Biblical Creationists firmly place Neanderthals in the ‘human’ category—descendants of Adam and Eve, thus bearing God’s image. Most evolutionary biologists today also agree with Neanderthals being mostly human, leaving their genetic mark on our DNA through interbreeding. Some old earth creationists suggest something quite different. They claim that Neanderthals were nothing more than animals—truly bipedal animals that are able to make and use tools, paint, and bury their dead—but animals nonetheless. Is there any truth to this idea? Were they just animals? Or were they fully human, bearing the image of God? In today’s episode, we’ll dig into “The Mystery of the Soulless Hominids,” ex... More...
What does it take to transform real estate development into something more than just bricks and mortar—into places with soul, story, and unforgettable experiences? Today's guest, Zach Rapaport, is on a mission to answer that question. As the founder of Meerkat Development, he's redefining what it means to build hospitality and lifestyle-driven spaces from the ground up. His journey started in construction — literally digging foundations — and evolved into leading development projects for some of the most compelling hospitality brands today, including Joe & The Juice, Selina, and Lifehouse. From scaling global F&B concepts to crafting boutique hotels that blend place and purpose, Zach has been at the forefront of experience-first hospitality development. In this episode, Zach pulls back the curtain on: Why most developments feel soulless — and how he's changing that. What it takes to design hospitality concepts that aren't just trendy, but timeless The 75/25 rule of brand consistency — how much a space should adapt to its location vs. maintain its DNA The untapped opportunity in storytelling-driven development (and why it's a competitive advantage) Lessons from scaling Joe & The Juice across the U.S., building lifestyle hotels at Selina, and leading development for Lifehouse If you've ever wondered what it takes to build experiences, not just properties — or how the future of hospitality is being shaped by people who think like creatives but execute like developers — this one's for you.
Lets talk about it
What do The Brutalist, Emilia Pérez, Dune Part II, and A Complete Unknown have in common? Yes, they’re all films nominated for Oscars at this Sunday’s ceremony. But they share something else – all of these films used Artificial Intelligence tools in some form during production. For the Brutalist and Emilia Pérez, AI was employed to alter actor’s voices while singing, or speaking Hungarian. For Dune and A Complete Unknown, AI tools changed actor or stunt double’s appearances. AI usage in film has been controversial for years. In 2023, both the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, the screen actors guild, went on strike – picketing in part over concerns regarding AI. But now, the red carpet will be full of directors and producers who relied on AI in small ways in their journey to the Oscars. So what does this say about the state of the film industry? Will this lead, as some have warned before, to the death of the movies? Guest: Brett Halperin is a University of Washington doctoral student in human centered design and engineering, and cinema and media studies. Today we open with another report from southern Lebanon, showing just how close Israel came to having an even worse Oct 7 massacre than they already had. The construction of the terror tunnels and planning for the attack were years in the making. I am waiting for Israel to show the world just how much the UN has been involved in supporting these terrorist regimes. Bombshell news from the J6 Investigative Committee chaired by Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) revealing how former representative and co-Chair Liz Cheney was exchanging secret text messages with one of their “star” witnesses, Cassidy Hutchinson. This is obviously even more bad news for the J6 Reality TV Show that took place in 2022. A crime spree of 50 burglaries in NYC was carried out by 20 members of the same Venezuelan gang that took over “only” and handful of apartment complexes. A NYPD spokesperson told a local affiliate that they are all back on the streets of New York City. An activist judge in Georgia has decided that election officials in Georgia voting precincts have no choice but to certify their election numbers, even if they have evidence of fraud or error. Plus, he said he was suspending the rule of providing a hand count of the ballots to make sure they match the electronic number submitted. The FBI just now discovered they had misreported violent crime stats. Remember when ABC's David Muir “fact-checked” Trump during the debate with Harris? Looks like Trump was right once again! The Left, their paid shills and most of Hollywood is trying to convince you that Donald Trump had some episode where he froze for 30 minutes and played music. We all know, and ABC News confirmed it, that two people in the audience had a medical issue and Trump suspended the Town Hall to let the paramedics do their jobs. Anyone who lies and tries to tell you the opposite is a soulless parasite. So, of course, that's exactly what Gov. Elmer Fudd, aka Tim Walz (D-MN) did. The Bill Clinton moment I brought up yesterday while he was here in Georgia became the headline of the NY Post today. It's great to see when the truth accidentally finds it's way to the mouth of Leftists. We close with two sound bites from the Trump rally in Atlanta, GA yesterday. The first comes from Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) about masculinity. The second comes from Michaelah Montgomery whom Trump first met at a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta several months ago. Hi Friend, thank you for downloading this episode and hanging out with us today! If you hear some snoring, that's just my english bulldog Ted. I didn't have the heart to kick him out so he's hanging out with us too. Today's question is: Can you get sober for someone else? There is a lot of debate around the idea of getting sober for someone else. In this episode, I have a conversation with Paul Summers Jr, who is a returning guest. He is the author of “Hide and Seek: A Dad's Journey from Soulless addiction to sole custody”. In this episode Paul shares his story of drug addiction, how he got sober for his daughter, and the fight to save her from an addict mother. Before we jump in, I wanted to share an idea that has really helped a lot of my clients as they work towards breaking old behavior patterns and achieving really big goals, and that is the Law of 51%. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by changes that you want to make or goals you want to achieve. That feeling of overwhelm can keep you from taking action, which keeps you feeling stuck. Think of a balance scale and what it takes to tip the balance. It's just a little more on one side than the other! So the law of 51% states that all you need to tip the scale, is just a little more progress in the direction you're headed in. The big take away here is that you are closer to your goal than you think! With some tools, support and a little practice, you can reach that goal you have been struggling with. This is just one of the lessons from my 6 week class called “Reinvent Yourself”. Listen, we all know what to do, but we just don't do it. Why? The answer is resistance. The magic is that we do the exercises together in class to break through that resistance and help you build momentum. Class starts Oct 3 at 6pm PST. I only teach this class 3 times per year and space is very limited, so don't miss out! As a little incentive, if you sign up by Friday, you can bring a friend for free! Mark interviews Gail Carriger about her writing life, her journey through publishing, analytics, the careful curation of her author brand, being a hybrid author and so much more. Prior to the interview, Mark shares comments from recent episodes, a personal update, and a word from this episode's sponsor. Learn more about this self-publishing/WIDE-publishing focused cruise. In the interview Mark and Gail talk about:- How honored Mark is to learn that Gail listens to the Stark Reflections Podcast Gail's branding phrase of "Gail Carriger writes books that are hugs" and the various experiments she's done with that over the years Always being a person who wrote, or had a passion for writing Reading The Lord of the Rings as a child and deciding to craft her OWN ending for the story Growing up in a "commune" environment with a bunch of poets Gail's career as an academic when her first traditionally published book (Soulless) came out and took off The challenge/dare to herself of wanting to write a genre-blending/cross-genre tale of something that she would enjoy as a reader Negotiations taking a long time because Gail dug in her heels on specific contract clauses Her agent investigating a back-door deal with another publisher who offered her 3X the deal the first was looking at and was willing to adjust the right of first refusal clause The vision that the publishers had that Soulless was the beginning of a series (despite Gail believing, when she first wrote it, that it was a stand-alone) Having a two-book contract and then writing a cliffhanger at the end of the 2nd book in order to grease the wheels of a contract for other books Gail's love-affair with spreadsheets and the fact she reads all 56 pages of her royalty reports One of the main reasons she became an indie author was her ability to have direct access to data about her sales and her readers Gail's cautionary note to authors that with a "right of first refusal" a publisher is allowed to take their time with that offer, which can significantly delay an author's forward-movement plans The possible "rights grab" that a publisher might do even if it's not something within their regular publishing plans How growing up Gen-X and being a non-native to computers and the internet has resulted in an abundance of caution about digital, computers, the world wide web, how she is presented on the internet, etc. Gail's recommendation to test the waters in self-publishing with short stories first Nerding out with Mark about the "old days" of self-publishing and podcasting Being a social scientist by training and loving analytics and spreadsheets Pinging her rabid fan base and testing things all the time Gail's A/B testing on whether it's better to put a newsletter signup link at the front of a book or the end of the book, or both Ensuring that her author brand is not diluted with author business stuff that she's known for from other authors and industry insiders Talking to her readers constantly to continue to stay in the loop on insights The importance, when communicating to your readers to use the same language that they're used to Learning that her readers tend to not have a distinction between libraries and bookstores - that many of them see them under the same umbrella of a place they go to see what books are on display Confirming the reports that "word of mouth" is, by a landslide, the way that most readers find out about new books and new authors to read The value of a recommendation from another author in a newsletter or on social media The challenges of book blurbs A podcast that Gail recommends: Reading Glasses - and that authors should subscribe and listen to it in order to understand the language that readers use The deliberate curation and creation of the Gail Carriger persona, including her love of wearing retro outfits The side benefit of being able to be a fan at conventions, etc when "out of uniform" and how she's rarely recognized when not sporting that specific "look" A little bit about Gail's book THE HEROINE'S JOURNEY The next book for writers that Gail is working on called GOING HYBRID, structured to help established and existing traditionally published authors to learn the indie publishing landscape And more . . . After the interview Mark reflects on several different topics that came up in the conversation, including contract clauses, being incognito, and Gails's suggesting for testing the self-publishing waters. Today on the Matt Walsh Show, major media outlets are now replacing their "journalists" with AI. We can all agree that most journalists are expendable, but what happens when AI starts taking real jobs? We'll discuss. Also, the Daily Wire unveils the trailer for a first feature length comedy. It's already getting a huge reaction. Plus, Derek Chauvin was stabbed and almost killed in prison. And in our Daily Cancelation, the leftist mob comes after a random child for wearing a costume to a football game.
