It's said that there's two certainties in life: death and taxes. But you could add another to that list: suffering. At multiple times in life we will suffer. It may be a small or slight inconvenience, a life-changing event, or anywhere it between. But as sure as night follows day no one goes through life without periods of suffering. While it is inevitable, it's how we choose to experience that suffering that ultimately defines us - not only through our own eyes and those of others, but also defines the quality - or difficulty - of our limited and fragile existence on planet Earth. So what's the key to finding lifelong peace and happiness? You need to learn to "suffer beautifully". That's the mantra of Brian Alsruhe, a strongman, strength coach and founder of online coaching and consultancy website Neversate.com.Watch our exclusive video with Brian Alsruhe to discover how you can stop suffering ugly and learn to life the richer, happier and stress-free life you want. For the full video visit https://unfilteredonline.com/brian-alsruhe-do-hard-things-often-then-suffer-your-struggles-beautifully/For exclusive access to all Unfiltered's video interviews, features and documentaries visit https://unfilteredonline.com/Get in touch in the comments below or talk to us on:Email: editorial@unfilteredonline.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGSV7XVaBYUYq5YidLI12owInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/unfiltered.extraTwitter: https://twitter.com/UnfilteredExtra

In the words of our inspiring guest today… “We were made for greatness but we continue to settle behind half-truths and useless excuses, building walls and masks, hoping that no one will see who we truly are underneath. It is time for a change. We can be that change.” ~Brian Alsruhe Today's episode dives DEEP into the human spirit and what it looks like to overcome the many challenges that life throws at us. We believe 100% that You Are Strong By Design and in order to fix this broken world, we must stand strong, seek truth in all things, be grateful for our many blessings and never give up on ourselves or those we care about. Leave it all on the field and die empty friends. “When you start talking to people, especially when you get past the standard conversation, it's amazing how many people have these tragic things in their life, and how many people can relate to it in so many different ways… We're all just going through stuff. We should be nice to each other.” - Brian Alsruhe Time Stamps 1:18 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design' podcast 3:57 - Meet today's special guest, Brian Alsruhe 9:09 - How did he get started with power training 16:07 - How his brain tumor diagnosis led him to open up his gym and YouTube channel 17:17 - Brian talks about having a deadly parasite that almost cost him his life 22:55 - Discover how the disease changed his brain 27:34 - 'NEVERsate Athletics:' Brian on helping others achieve their health and fitness goals 35:46 - Brian shares his brain tumor journey 39: 20 - Why you should always choose kindness 46:56 - How Brian's recovery from the parasites is coming along 1:03:42 - Brian answers rapid fire questions 1:12:31 - 'Suffer Beautifully:' Where you can go to connect with Brian Alsruhe and watch the powerful video Resources: NEVERsate.com Connect w/ Brian: YouTube Facebook Instagram Connect w/ CriticalBench: Youtube Facebook Instagram CriticalBench.com StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Today we're talking to strongman athlete Brian Alsruhe, who actually joins the BarBend Podcast for a second time. Recently, Brian has been focusing most of his time on building a homestead in the woods, completely by hand and without the use of power tools. We discuss what it means to use strength in a real-world environment, along with how building a log cabin mirrors strongman-style training. This podcast also touches on the human connection with nature, feats of endurance long before electricity, and we even touch on Bigfoot and other topics in cryptozoology. Don’t miss it.

Brian discusses his experiences with illness and injury, including thoughts regarding self-harm. If you or anyone you know are struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-8255 as well as online.
Brian Alsruhe is the Strongest Man titleholder in the state of Maryland. He's also the owner of NEVERsate Athletics, a strongman, powerlifting, and sports conditioning gym. Before opening NEVERsate, Brian was recruited by the U.S. government for a special military operation involving counterterrorism measures. So basically, he's the Jason Bourne of the fitness industry.

PowerCast episode originally published Mar 14, 2017. The aggressively squared-jawed strongman competitor, Brian Alsruhe and local strongman competitor/gym owner (and tall garden gnome), Alan Thrall, bring their bromance to the show. Brian has his own gym, NEVERSate Athletics in Westminster, Maryland, and is working hard toward his lightweight strongman pro card. Coming from a martial arts background, Brian was drawn to strongman after the death of his friend and World’s Strongest Man competitor, Mike Jenkins. We kick the show off talking about how internet forums shaped the strength world way back in the late 90s and early 2000’s.
