Jessie is the professor of Horn and Music History at University of Tennessee, Martin and earned her degrees at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam (BM), The Ohio State University (MM, MA) and Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music (DM). Jessie is a regular performer with professional orchestras around the country and has shared the stage with artist such as Jeff Nelsen, Andre Watts, Leonard Slatkin, Michel Camilo, Sylvia McNair, Eric Ruske, Maureen McGovern and Byron Stripling. Jessie is also the cofounder of the Mirari Brass Quintet (www.miraribrass.com) which maintains a busy performing and touring schedule presenting master classes and recitals in public schools, colleges, universities, and performance halls all over the United States. Jessie and I first met when she gave me a horn lesson shortly after completing her doctorate with Jeff Nelsen at IU. She suggested I look into studying with him at some point… so I did! Dave Tull - Drums, Vocals When not leading his own trio, Dave is one of the busiest drummers on the scene. In 2016 Dave became the drummer for Barbra Streisand and has played five tours with Streisand including Madison Square Garden in July 2019, and on Barbra's GRAMMY NOMINATED live Netflix concert video, “Barbra – “The Music..The Mem'ries..The Magic!”. Dave toured from 2000-2010 as drummer and lead vocalist for Chuck Mangione. Since his Carnegie Hall debut with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops, Trumpeter and Conductor Byron Stripling has become a Pops orchestra favorite, soloing with Boston Pops, National Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Cincinnati Pops, Seattle Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Dallas Symphony, to name a few. He has been a featured soloist at the Hollywood Bowl and on the PBS television special, "Evening at Pops," with conductors John Williams and Keith Lockhart. Currently, he serves as artistic director and conductor of the highly acclaimed Columbus Jazz Orchestra. On Saturday afternoon, July 17 at 2:30 p.m. he will be conducting the Tanglewood Family Concert - "American Melodies" - with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. It is a family-friendly journey through the early songs that defined America, from folk songs to spirituals, gospel to jazz.

Rich Thompson is an Associate Professor of jazz studies and contemporary media at the Eastman School of Music and is a member of the Eastman Jazz Trio and Quartet with Harold Danko, Clay Jenkins and Jeff Campbell. He has toured and recorded with  the Count Basie Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic and many major orchestras throughout the United States and Canada. Rich has given concerts and masterclasses and concerts all over the world. He sat for this interview on a road date with the Byron Stripling quartet featuring renowned trumpeter Doc Severinsen.
