Primrose Sturrock, 38, hails from Drillham, QLD, and grew up on a 25,000-acre, fourth-generation mixed grazing and farming operation between St. George and Dirranbandi. The youngest of three sisters, she attended St. George State School and later, Clayfield College in Brisbane for her secondary education. Despite achieving a high OP score, Primrose eschewed university in favour of hands-on experience. She spent her gap year breaking horses in western QLD before working with top trainers in Texas and California, eventually finding herself training horses in Hawaii. Upon returning to Australia, she worked under renowned trainer Ian Francis before starting her own horse-breaking business in Central QLD. Her adventurous spirit led her to diverse roles, from painting barns in Norway to living off-grid in Bulgaria, and working on motor yachts in Florida. Now, Primrose is married to Riley Sturrock, with whom she has three children—Jock (10), Arabella (8), and Hughie (6). They manage a 12,000-acre beef cattle operation, a 5,000-head feedlot, and an earthmoving business. Primrose also runs a holistic interior design business from home. Her journey has been marked by significant moments, from the upheaval of moving from her childhood farm to the challenges of motherhood and balancing work in a male-dominated industry. Through it all, she has remained committed to her family, her businesses, and her community, embodying resilience and adaptability.Follow Primrise on Instagram and follow her Instagram picks or social suggestions:@primroseinteriorsEnjoyed the episode? Todays guest is a captivating story teller, her journey has been anything but straight forward. I first met Jane at Beef Australia, she was part of the advancing beef leaders program and shared a piece she had written in front of the audience, speaking about the importance of representation she used 'The Hat' as a symbol that represents our industry, good bad or indifferent the people wearing that hat are symbolic of who we are as people. You can find it on our Instagram or facebook. From a young age, Jane Weir had seen through her parents what it was like to be a trailblazer. Daring to have a greater impact they left their relatively accomplished farming operation near Roma in Central Qld and headed north where they took on the next challenge at Amelia Downs, not too far from Charters Towers. In Part One you will hear about Jane's early life, from a kid working the land alongside he parents to trying to get as far away from agriculture as she could, ultimately pursuing a dream of riding horses internationally. Taking a few short cuts, Jane returned home in 2013, where she was training a young horse when the horse fell onto her, beginning the journey that would be three operations, a bone marrow transplant and years of recovery. For three years now, Australia has been fascinated with the fate of the Murrugappan family.  The family of four had been living quietly in Biloela, Central QLD, when they were taken into detention in Melbourne, then on to Christmas Island.  When the baby of the family, Tharni, had to be flown to Perth from Christmas Island ill, the whole of Australia has held its breath to see what's next.  Minister Alex Hawke has allowed the family to stay in Perth community detention, but they're still at risk of being deported back to Sri Lanka.  Why doesn't the government want to let this family return to Biloela? What issues would such a move cause?  CREDITS  Host/Producer: Claire Murphy Acting Executive Producer: Melanie Tait  Audio Producer: Ian Camilleri Guests: Richard Denniss, Chief Economist, The Australia Institute  CONTACT US Got a topic you'd like us to cover? Claiming Your Confidence

So most of us have heard the story of Mao's Last Dancer, Li Cunxin, but I doubt as many of you have heard of his beautiful wife Mary Li.   Mary grew up as Mary McKendry, one of eight kids, in Rocky in Central Qld. Her story of wanting to be a prima ballerina as a little girl, then dancing on stage in London and all over the world, even training with the legendary Rudolf Nureyev; is actually the stuff of fairytales. And so is the love story of how she met her future husband, both of them principal dancers.  But it's actually the story of their little girl Sophie, who was born profoundly deaf, that led Mary to sit down and write a book. And this is what we chat about today. The confidence of stepping on stage in front of Royalty. The confidence of raising a child with a huge challenge ahead of her, in an era where medical advancements aren't what they are today. And in the ultimate act of love, to give up her own glittering career to be a champion for her.  I'm so excited to announce that after 29 years away from the stage, Mary is making her dancing comeback. If you are lucky enough to be close to Brisbane, Australia, you can see her onstage at the Lyric Theatre on the 8th, 10th and 15th of June.  So here's the fabulous Mary Li on Claiming Her Confidence.  Thanks as always to Marc from Term Six Productions for audio on this episode.
