Monday 24th March 2025 -Over the past week, communities across South West Queensland have been dealt a devastating blow. Places like Stonehenge, Windorah, Adavale, Quilpie, Eromanga, Jundah and across the Channel Country have been swallowed by floodwaters. Homes inundated. Yards washed out. Millions of hectares under water. If you've had your head in the sand, now is the time to tune in. What's happening out here is unfathomable. And behind every flood warning is a family. A farm. A future now uncertain.I'm incredibly grateful to be joined today by two women who are living through this — Louise Hoch,Wendy Sheehan and Charmain Batt. They bring us a raw and real recap of what's unfolding on the ground, and how they're coping with the emotional and physical toll of this natural disaster. As the flood water start to go down it will be only then we will be able to assess the damage. @on.the.fenceline@dandlhoch@bulldust_and_mulgaFarmHER Hands UPF50+ sun protection gloves our mission to safeguard the hands of rural and remote women as they work, live, and play. After years of longing for a rural lifestyle change, extensive searching, and enduring numerous disappointments with unsuccessful offers, fate finally guided Natalie Hackl and her husband to discover a hidden gem in Blue Knob, NSW. Tucked away in the shadow of the majestic Border Ranges, the farm had languished in neglect for a decade, its inherent beauty masked by overgrown fields and a rundown shack. Yet, beneath acres of overgrowth, a grove of struggling finger limes awaited rediscovery. As they delved deeper into the property, wading through towering swaths of grass, they were rewarded with awe-inspiring views of Blue Knob, Lillian Rock, Mount Warning, and The Border Ranges—a moment of true love at first sight.Five years later, despite often flushed faces and bodies drenched in sweat, Natalie and her husband Matt have unearthed the true worth of resilience, perseverance, and patience. Bush Harvest Co stands as a testament to the stunning and bountiful land they are privileged to call home.Although both hailed from backgrounds in primary school teaching and equine nutrition, they possessed minimal farming experience. Navigating the challenges of farming—through drought, bushfire, pandemic, and floods—has proven to be a remarkable journey. Anyone familiar with finger limes understands Natalie's description of them as a "prick" of a plant to work with (long leather pruning gloves are a must!).Nonetheless, their passion for hard work, rural living, and native Australian botanicals has fortified their determination to create something extraordinary with Bush Harvest Co for their customers. They sincerely hope you'll cherish their products as much as they do!Anyone who has worked with finger limes knows what Natalie means when she describes them as a "prick" of a plant to work with (long leather pruning gloves are essential!).Follow Natalie on Instagram and follow her Instagram picks or social suggestions:@bushharvestcoLike Minded B+tches Drinking Wine@thelazyceo@goodtimesgreatbrands@hackyourownprSHE-CommThe Middle Finger ProjectEnjoyed the episode- producing these podcast are a blast and take time, I would love it if you could show me some love and support, by liking, rating and sharing this episode or you can do so by - Buying me a coffee Please make sure you leave a review or rate this episode. @married_tothe_landICPA is the educational voice for rural and remote families and their students.
