Swedish power metal stalwarts The Storyteller have emerged from a period of dormancy with a resounding declaration of their enduring vitality in their seventh full-length album, "The Final Stand". This eagerly anticipated release, set to hit shelves on April 25, 2025, via The Circle Music, marks a pivotal moment in the band's storied career. The album is the culmination of a dynamic collaboration between vocalist L-G Persson and Cedrick Forsberg of Blazon Stone, a partnership that has reignited the band's creative spark. "The Final Stand" is a masterful blend of power metal and medieval melodies, woven together with fantasy-driven lyrics that transport listeners to epic realms. The album's first single, "They Will Fear Our Battlecry", sets the tone for an album that is both a testament to the band's legacy and a bold step forward. This anthemic track paints a vivid picture of a final, desperate battle, with a clan leader rallying his troops against the forces of darkness. The song is a powerful declaration of defiance, showcasing the band's ability to craft music that is both deeply personal and universally relatable. Learn more about your ad choices. Another stellar guest mix comes our way with this excellent set from longtime listener, Daniel Hawkins. He reached with an idea for a mix and once I heard the theme I was all in. Daniel curated a playlist of tracks & I put them together to create this new mix. Here's what Daniel has to say about Metallic Memories: "So I've loved world music since before that term existed, and always had an inordinate fondness for the metallophones - gamelan, vibraphone, glockenspiel, Tibetan bowls - should we include tubular bells? Of course! I don't know if the kalimba and marimba are technically in the category, but they are in my mind. Wind chimes, tingshas, koshis, steel drum, handpan, gongs, avant-garde stuff done with trash cans and pipes - it's all good. This playlist leaves out a ton of music that Dave has covered over the years that is near and dear to me - but I wanted to do what he does so well - bring new artists to everyone's attention and still make a killer playlist. I'd thought for a looooong time about putting something together for Low Light Mixes and was so pleased with Dave's gracious response." Thanks, Daniel, for this excellent collection of metallophone music! Links to all the music used in this mix: Tom Green - Music for Tai Chi T. Here we are now - entertain you! The Veil of Sound Xmas-Interview-Marathon 2022 is upon you. We will give you one interview with an amazing artist or band every day. Some will be podcast-only, some text-, several video-based interviews. And of course we want to give you some of the finest and most popular artists around - need proof for that? Well, how about we kick this off with Jarboe! Yes, the one! The lady who certainly changed Michael Gira's life and Swans' sound. Who released an awesome collab with Neurosis and so much more! There is also a very up-to-date-reason for this interview - the re-release of one of her seminal solo-releases: Sacrificial Cake which originally was released nearly 30 years ago. At a time, when it was considered to be a twin-record to Gira's Drainland (there were even some promo CDs sent out with tracks from both records). The record is mindblowingly different and diverse and doesn't shy away from tracks that at first glance don't fit in with the tracks before or after. Nevertheless, there is one thing that connects them all - Jarboe's voice and musical quality. We talked with her in detail about the record, its songwriting and production, the influence of New York City and much much more! We are very proud to kickstart our hearty VoS-Xmas-Interview-Marathon with this nearly one-hour long interview which you can listen to here straight away or on the streaming platform of your choice: You can also grab your copy of the re-release of Sacrificial Cake via The Circle Music! Casting a circle is something every witch should know how to do - but it can seem daunting, complicated, and impossible. Especially if you've never done it before. This episode, I tried to sort of de-mystify a very mystical act by breaking it down for you and hopefully making it seem a lot more doable if you've got your reservations about casting your first circle. Or even your 100th, if you're one of those witches who hates casting circles because it can be so cumbersome. It doesn't have to be. "In the House of Mama Dragon" by S.J. Tucker used with permission. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he had the chance to live the open minded music revolution of these golden times and so he savored to the fullest. At this time he was inspired by synthesizer sounds of the 80´s & 90´s, which smooth the way forwards electronic music. “Groove, melody, fat basslines, atmospherically sounds and unexpected stories” from house to techno: this is how we could sum-up the musical style of Mirco, influenced by a wide selection of producers and labels, including Âme, Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, Robosonic, DJ Koze and labels like Poker Flat, Sonar Kollektiv, Perlon, Noir and Suara, among others. With accurate mixes, full of power and good vibes, his sessions will lead you to dance till the end! Mirco has already released a whole bunch of ep´s and remixes for Metanoia, Circle Music, Whatiplay, Sunset Handjob, Off Recordings, Kindisch and more. He recently launched a brand new side project in collaboration with his fellow partner Beatamines, producing together under the moniker of Ektschn!, with two vinyl ep´s, signed on Super Flu’s label Sunset Handjob. So we can look forward to new projects and stuff, because boredom is a loanword for Mirco!

Throughout his youth, Tomy DeClerque witnessed at first hand the development of Slovenia's electronic dance scene. As techno artists such as Umek and Valentino Kanzyani found global recognition and the country's club scene thrived, it presented the perfect opportunity for a young DeClerque to ride the wave. His first foray into the world of production came alongside his long- time friend Zox. Together they had early successes with "My Desire" and "Music Makes Me Happy". The latter being licensed to a number of compilations, was also selected by Pete Tong as the Essential New Tune on his BBC radio show. DeClerque was to take a break from the hectic DJ and producer lifestyle. On his return, it was time to head out solo. His early work for Circle Music, Sprout and Jesus Loved You, brought him much attention and, over the past two years, he has rapidly built a strong following with his work for labels including Intec Digital, BluFin, 1605, Terminal M, Toolroom, Cr2 and more... As a young player, Tomy DeClerque has accomplished a lot. But he is determined to accomplish even more. "You'll hear a lot about me in the future" he promises. After years spent paying his dues in Milan’s historic clubs, from Old Fashion to Trattoria Toscana, in unauthorized centri sociali or ‘squat clubs’, fashion shows and radio work, he turned his attention to production. He explored a variety of genres, from trip hop to swing, passing through jungle, West London and Detroit house, to deep house, while never abandoning jazz – the wildest and most impeccable of all - progressively building a digital project. Out of this came the concept of Jazzy, the ability to make jazz and electronic music communicate. This passion is also manifest in the Oneboy project - musical instruments played live to a DJ set. Giuseppe put this project together with writer Tatiana Carelli under the name Taji bpm. Oneboy performed at the 2007 Salone Del Mobile furniture show, at various national festivals and events and on an Italian tour in 2008. Also with Taji he created the Discokit® project, a kind of “sensory stimulation kit” – the dance club becomes ‘takeaway’ and enters the world of art with more than 60 events held over two years. The discography is varied and rich in international collaborations, starting with releases for Multivitamins, then for the PRO-TEZ, Circle Music, Dabit, Piston Recordings and Vibe Me Records. In 2009, Giuseppe creates Apparel Music - a ‘kitchen’ of artists from all over the planet. Among the many partnerships are long-established collaborations in Russia with the duo SCSI-9 and in Germany with major artists like Lopazz, Elon, Chris Wood, Tom Clark, Ekkohaus as well as Delano Smith, Moodymanc, Domu, Tuccillo, Ali Kuru, Yapacc, Casio Casino, Sarp Yilmaz, Huxley, Lula Circus, Roy Gilles, Fog, Gavin Herlihy and the list goes on. The last years Kisk has perfomed in special parties like Privat, Doc Show, Maximal, EDIT Fesival and legendary clubs like Fabric, Tresor, Amnesia, Fluid, Peter Pan, Bitte, Pergola Tribe, Link and many less known but equally important parties. Kisk has played with artists like Mount Kimbie, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Alex Under, Dave Clarke, Shinedoe, Cedric Maison, Chymera, The Hacker, Delano Smith, Anton Kubikov, Scan7, Monica Kruse, Luke Slater aka Planetary Assault Systems, Seiji, The Advent, Mathematics, Yapacc, Daniel Wang, Noze, Silicone Soul, Ekkohaus, System Of Survival, Tim Xavier, Red Robin, Format:B, Marek Hemmann, Lopazz, Valentino Kanziani, Tobi Neumann, Kaiserdisco, Smash Tv, Alex Picone, Sasha Funke, Lula Circus, Korablove, Sarp Yilmaz, Paco Osuna, Peter Pixel, Huxley, Moodymanc, Ben Klock, Rico Casazza, Magda, Louie Austen, St. Vincent, Oliver Deutschmann, Ed Davenport... There are those who become stars du jour overnight, who enjoy their time in the limelight, before just as easily slipping back into obscurity. Then there are those who gradually ascend through the echelons of electronic music, tirelessly honing their craft and taste-making skills to perfection, until arriving onto the public consciousness to stay. Hermanez aspires to the latter, which becomes clear as the forthcoming months begin to unfold. Michael Coninx AKA Hermanez is perhaps mostly associated with his grooving, and tribal-flecked tech-house productions, which keeps finding favours with the great and good including Luciano, Loco Dice and Reboot to name a few. However, a closer look at the Belgium-born producer’s back catalogue unveils an all-encompassing production savviness confidently moving through the different realms of techno. From the melodic and highly atmospheric collaboration with Alex Flatner ‘When The Sun Goes Down’, which came out of Noir Music earlier this autumn, via driving techno on Memoria Recordings, and deep erring house on Get Physical’s off-shoot label Kindisch, Hermanez showcases an innate musicality at his fingertips. With releases on aforementioned labels, he adds to a discography including Rawthentic, Circle Music and Suara, with a much-talked about release on New York based Inmotion Music earlier this spring, not to mention putting out records on his own Aella imprint which he runs together with long-time friend and fellow Belgian Ramon Tapia. Gigwise, apart from his monthly residency at Antwerp’s Cafe D’Anvers in his native Belgium, Hermanez has been zigzagging the planet delivering a perfect fusion of house and techno, incorporating minimal undercurrents and rhythmic building blocks, to clued-up revelers at off-Sonar in Barcelona, Spartacus in Aix en Provence, Footwork in Toronto, Module in Tokyo, Club Air and the ADE Festival in Amsterdam. Now looking into the crystal ball, Hermanez continues to gain momentum with a selection of carefully placed releases on noted labels that are due to see the light of day in the beginning of next year, right at the cusp of consolidating his place in the top tiers of house and techno.
