In this New Year episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, Mitchell is joined once again by Jason Goe from Final Stand for a wide-ranging conversation that blends late-season deer hunting tactics with honest reflection on priorities, pressure, and purpose. The discussion moves through practical topics like late-season scouting, mobile setups comparing climbers and saddles, managing hunting pressure, and how Jason balances hunting across Pennsylvania and Maryland. Along the way, they unpack how gear choices, access, food sources, and pressure shape late-season success—and why adapting your approach matters as seasons, landscapes, and life circumstances change. As the conversation deepens, the focus shifts beyond tactics to mindset. Mitchell and Jason openly wrestle with comparison, social media pressure, goal-setting, and the challenge of staying present in the woods—especially as fathers introducing their kids to hunting. From sharing campfires and deer drives to slowing down hunts so young hunters can enjoy them, the episode highlights the importance of fellowship, mentorship, and keeping hunting fun. It's an honest reminder that success isn't always measured in filled tags, but in shared moments, growth, and learning to “run your own race” in the woods and in life. In a deeply personal and raw final hour, Brandon Tierney delivers his ultimate sign-off from the legendary WFAN. The segment kicks off with a surprise call from BT's biggest fan and toughest critic—his father—who takes listeners on a 25-year trip through BT's career: from packing up for Allentown to the drive-time battles in San Francisco, and finally, his "dream fulfilled" return to New York. BT reflects on the "unrelenting drive" that defined his run, acknowledging that while his time in the midday slot is ending due to station shifts (the return of Craig Carton), he leaves with his head high and his competitive fire unquenched. He shares his pride in sharing studios with titans like Stephen A. Smith, calling Knicks games at the Garden, and building the "Unkillable" brand with co-host Sal Licata. It's a tear-filled, high-energy goodbye to the city he loves, ending not with a whimper, but with a promise that the next chapter will be his biggest yet.
"America's financial illusion is collapsing right before our eyes," warns Peter Grandich in one of his most urgent interviews yet. With $38 trillion in debt, exploding deficits, and markets hanging on the last fumes of a dying system, millions of Americans are on the brink of financial devastation. Seniors have doubled their stock exposure, half the population owns nothing, and the top 10% controls 86% of the wealth. "This is a house of cards built on debt and denial—and the fall will be brutal." Grandich exposes a looming generational fracture—a coming "war among the ages" as younger Americans refuse to pay for the soaring costs of an aging nation. Fiat currencies are teetering on collapse, while gold and silver are positioned for historic revaluation. But the danger isn't just financial: America is facing a spiritual reckoning, with political chaos, moral decline, and collapsing trust shaking the nation to its core. _ Sign up for my free weekly newsletter. _ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter Medium YouTube Instagram Website LinkedIn _ Guest: Peter Grandich Website Twitter YouTube
Buckle up America, because THIS. IS. IT!!! The final race of the 2025 Formula 1 season and we've got an ALL-OUT STREET FIGHT for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. Three drivers. One crown. Max Verstappen hunting for his 5th straight title, a run that would tie Michael freakin' Schumacher… VS. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the McLaren duo coming in HOT, hungry, and absolutely ready to rip the throne out of Max's hands. This is the heavyweight bout we've been waiting for all season.
Send us a textTechnical difficulties plague the squad from the get go, leading to some rather mid-quality sound from Nolan, but they power through. At least, sort of. That non-beard growing Indiana potato decides he has to make in the middle of the podcast. This only infuriates the Beaveman and Nolan more. They still have a fun chat with each segment with the poor Beaveman covering his segment, plus Swan's and JD's. He gives it his best, but he is no substitute. It's extraterrestrial time, the Lizard man of South Carolina, deciding where you want to make your final stand, exhibitionistic disorder, the traffic report and dumb jokes with the Beaveman. On this week's episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, Mitch is joined by Tim Schlappich, a Pennsylvania native and member of the Final Stand crew who found his passion for hunting later in life. Tim shares his journey from being an avid angler and traveler in the military to diving headfirst into the world of whitetails, first in Nebraska's river bottoms and now across the big woods and marshes of the East Coast. Through trial, patience, and curiosity, he's learned to balance the challenges of new terrain, the lure of technology, and the importance of keeping the adventure alive.Throughout their conversation, Mitch and Tim reflect on the tension between trophy hunting and personal fulfillment—how the fun, the people, and the places matter more than antlers on the wall. From Sika deer on Maryland's Eastern Shore to DIY filming and mentoring new hunters, Tim's story captures the spirit of curiosity and humility that makes hunting special. It's an episode about growth, grit, and remembering why we step into the woods in the first place. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this powerful episode of America's Founding Series, Professor Nick Giordano brings to life the extraordinary and often-overlooked stories of Jordan Freeman and Lambert Latham, two Black patriots who fought and died at the Battle of Groton Heights in 1781. As British forces stormed Fort Griswold, Freeman and Latham stood their ground in defense of a nation still grappling with its founding ideals. Through gripping storytelling, Giordano explores their heroism, sacrifice, and the brutal betrayal that followed the surrender. Their legacy challenges modern narratives and reminds us that America's founding was not just shaped by generals and statesmen, but by ordinary men who believed liberty was worth dying for. Episode Highlights: Jordan Freeman's heroic defense and the killing of British Major Montgomery with a spear Lambert Latham's defiant stand and symbolic act of raising the American flag amid massacre The brutal betrayal at Fort Griswold and the forgotten legacy of patriots in the American Revolution

Most men wake up in chaos and go to bed in silence—but not in prayer. In this final installment of our “Daily Grind” series, I give you the strategy every Catholic man needs to end his day with clarity, discipline, and purpose. If you're not examining your day with God every night, then you are drifting—and drift is deadly in spiritual combat. This episode is your call to war. Not against the world—but against your own mediocrity. We walk through the 3 essentials of a nighttime routine that isn't about comfort—it's about conversion:Review your day under the gaze of God.Repent of your failures with humility.Resolve to rise and fight again tomorrow. This isn't fluff. This is about forming the habit of holiness through repetition. This is about reclaiming your night from the Enemy and entrusting it to Christ. This is about ending your day like a saint-in-training—not a slave to screens or laziness.I issue a clear challenge: You have no excuse not to do this. Stop wasting your nights. Stop lying to yourself that you're too tired. You are a man of God—act like it.You want to be a priest of your home? Then end your day as a priest, offering the sacrifice of your failures and victories to the Lord.
This week on Challenge Accepted, Frank and Thomas break down The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 2—one of the most devastating and talked-about episodes of the series to date. From Joel's brutal fate to Abby's introduction and the fallout across Jackson, they explore how the show mirrors and diverges from the game, what it means for Ellie's arc, and how the showrunners are reshaping fan expectations. The discussion dives into the emotional weight of the storytelling, the controversy around Abby, and why this episode might define the season. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00 Intro and Spoiler Warning 00:24 Holding in the spoiler for years 01:28 Comparing Joel's moment to the Red Wedding 02:01 That golf club scene 03:04 Game vs show differences in Joel's death 04:05 Impact of Dina and Tommy being present 05:15 Ellie's choice to keep going 06:10 Joel's mindset and Ellie's last words 07:14 The emotional weight and realism 08:00 Reactions from non-gamers 09:00 The gamer/non-gamer divide 10:00 HBO's strategy with Abby and fan backlash 10:52 Ellie's new motivation and mirroring Abby's pain 11:37 Why Kaitlyn Dever works as Abby 13:04 What Abby's story sets up going forward 14:15 Fan reaction to playing Abby in the game 15:04 When media earns your emotions 15:50 The game's final song wrecks fans again 16:44 Jackson's development and vulnerability 17:27 Zombies evolving, Walking Dead comparisons 18:22 Cordyceps hive mind and thematic depth 19:25 Real-world fungus behavior influences the show 20:36 Evolution and future zombie threats 21:11 The bloater and missing loot 22:07 Dogs join the battle 22:57 Game of Thrones-style visuals 23:44 Did the infected reach the basements? 24:05 Tommy's potential trauma 25:02 Abby's future arc and cult elements 25:43 More Pedro Pascal via flashbacks 26:22 Seattle and the Wolves setting up 27:02 Frank's thoughts on The Last of Us viewership 27:50 Pedro Pascal fan reactions 28:38 Comparing Ellie and Abby to Maggie and Negan 29:25 Final thoughts on the episode's impact 30:00 Movie of the year chat and Coogler shout-out 31:00 Zombie dogs incoming, wrap-up Key Takeaways: Joel's death was both faithful and emotionally intense, echoing the game and Red Wedding alike. HBO softened Abby's introduction, aiming to create a deeper emotional understanding of her motivations. Ellie's journey is now fully personal, mirroring Abby's loss and fueling the show's core conflict. The show cleverly evolves the infected into a constant threat, avoiding the pitfalls of The Walking Dead. Kaitlyn Dever's performance brought layered complexity to Abby, winning over some skeptical fans. Jackson's siege was visually epic, with medieval tactics meeting modern warfare. The Last of Us continues to blend brutal storytelling with rich worldbuilding and deep character arcs. Quotes: “They earned your emotions. Now you have to follow that through.” – Frank “It just adds this heart-wrenching moment, but it makes it more real.” – Thomas “This is our Glenn moment. We don't know if the show survives it.” – Frank “The hatred Abby feels is now the same thing fueling Ellie—and us.” – Frank “Ellie keeps saying we'll figure it out. Swedish power metal stalwarts The Storyteller have emerged from a period of dormancy with a resounding declaration of their enduring vitality in their seventh full-length album, "The Final Stand". This eagerly anticipated release, set to hit shelves on April 25, 2025, via The Circle Music, marks a pivotal moment in the band's storied career. Oysters are a nutrient-rich powerhouse for the body--excellent for cognitive function, the immune system and even boosting mood. Why does liver get all the hype and press?! We learn the brief, yet remarkable biography of prophet Mormon. As he recounts his life experiences, we witness the early signs of his greatness when he was just a boy. Chosen by the Nephite historian Ammaron, Mormon is given charge of the sacred records. Amidst a backdrop of wars, political upheaval, and spiritual corruption, we follow Mormon's journey from a young observer to the commander of the Nephite armies. As the Nephites face relentless battles against the Lamanites, Mormon continues to plead with the Nephites to repent and look to God for their hope and for their success. Despite moments of victory, the pervasive wickedness among the Nephites leads to devastating consequences as the entire Nephite nation is destroyed.

John Wesley Hardin killed his first man at the age of 15, and for the next decade, he would continue to kill. The exact number of victims is unknown, but it's estimated that anywhere from twenty to forty men fell before Hardin's guns, making him one of the deadliest shootists of the Old West. Then, at the age of 25, Hardin went to prison. After numerous attempts at escape and several lashings, Wes finally settled down and became a model inmate. And, upon his eventual release, Hardin truly seemed to be a changed man. Believe it or not, he would even receive a license to practice law and begin working as an attorney. But how long would this last? Would Hardin continue to walk the straight and narrow in the rowdy border town of El Paso, or would he return to his old vices? And what about those rumors of indiscretions in prison? Also discussed are John Selman Sr., Jeff Milton, Deputy George Scarborough, Deacon Jim Miller, and Reconstruction Texas.
