The Pipeman interviews Devin from Anubis. An element he enjoys bringing into his music is the black metal sound. Introducing the death metal element will keep his audience guessing. The hybrid metal band is releasing their latest furious EP Eternal Youth, Eternal Night on April 15th. The EP is mixed and mastered by Alex Crescioni at Stygian Sound, who says of the EP, “Eternal Youth, Eternal Night is a major step up in performance, songwriting, melodies, and technicalities from the previous masterpiece Hurricane Of Hate. From intricately esoteric & tasteful drumming, elaborate bass tapping, combative guitar riffage, soaring leads, and a wide range of vocal octaves, Anubis has done it yet again with a melodic power-metal triumph of a release.”The EP features 3 new unrestrained and dominating songs from the depths of power and thrash metal: “I, Anachronism” written by Eleazar Llerenas and Devin Reiche; “Symbiotic Serenity,” by Justin Escamilla and Devin Reiche; and “Eternal Youth, Eternal Night,” by Devin Reiche and Dagan VanDemark. What's good world, we back from the crypt with some more of that hood philosophy shit, and on this episode of the podcast, I'm reaching into the past to help ground our roots in the future world we can potentially build. I'm talking Nahuatl philosophy, overcoming the problem of nihilism, learning to find and make strong our hearts and faces, and all the ways this contrasts with the zenith point of western Christian philosophy. Imagining Sisyphus as happy for simply learning to accept the fact that rolling the boulder is his destiny is one thing, but learning what our boulder is and discovering why we're even rolling it in the first place is a whole other story - stay woke fam...

THE DOOMED & STONED SHOW Season 5, Episode 13 The George Lucas film Star Wars holds a very special place in my memory. It's one of the earliest things I can recall: holding Dad's hand as we waited in a long line that twisted around the two-screen movie theater and around the block in our small Seattle suburb. When screen time arrived, I was absolutely transfixed, perhaps most by the desert scenes on Tatooine. Fast forward to 2019 and I come up with this crazy idea: why not do a doom metal and stoner rock tribute to the film? I think the story works quite nicely without the tidy resolution of the final act, so I'll leave you hanging around the destruction of Alderaan and see how that suits your fancy pants. One more thing: the working title for the film was, 'Adventures Of The Starkiller - Episode I' and the thumbnail is from a portfolio of concept art by Ralph McQuarrie, who painted 21 such portraits in all (including my favorite rendition of Darth Vader). From a vampire bloodbath rave to the sword-centric showdown at the Temple of Eternal Night, the Corpse Club team celebrates 20 years of the Blade film franchise by revisiting the 1998 action horror movie that paved the path to the big screen for other Marvel superheroes. Co-hosts Heather Wixson, Scott Drebit, Derek Anderson, and Jonathan James gather around the microphones to discuss the movie’s eponymous half-vampire/half-human character played by Wesley Snipes, whose background in martial arts enhanced the film’s expertly choreographed fight scenes. The co-hosts also discuss the Blade franchise as a whole, including the character’s comic book origin, Guillermo del Toro's infectiously fun filmmaking style in Blade II, the fantastic performance by Parker Posey in Blade: Trinity (which also featured a lovable Pomeranian vampire), the talented supporting casts in all three films, and what they'd like to see from the franchise moving forward. So, instead of trying to ice skate uphill, kick back, relax, and listen to a new episode of Daily Dead's official podcast... just make sure you have a silver stake within reach!
