Catjazz EP it's the first digital release on Apparel Music and Eddie Zarook and @Lopazz are a pair incredible. The EP contains three essays of deep music, from ONEONE that takes us toward the low-speed memory. Vinyl cut and symphony light make this track he banner of-concept Zarook Lopazz. In TWOTWO we see a very funky ride pressing, we seems to know the song for a long time. THREETHREE it's a bomb! After years spent paying his dues in Milan’s historic clubs, from Old Fashion to Trattoria Toscana, in unauthorized centri sociali or ‘squat clubs’, fashion shows and radio work, he turned his attention to production. He explored a variety of genres, from trip hop to swing, passing through jungle, West London and Detroit house, to deep house, while never abandoning jazz – the wildest and most impeccable of all - progressively building a digital project. Out of this came the concept of Jazzy, the ability to make jazz and electronic music communicate. This passion is also manifest in the Oneboy project - musical instruments played live to a DJ set. Giuseppe put this project together with writer Tatiana Carelli under the name Taji bpm. The first bars are reminiscent of a film score: a lonesome whistle like in an Italian western, sparingly placed tones like in a film noir. A high-pitched child’s voice calls out to us, “Clap Your Hands.” Lasting not even 50 seconds, ‘Mikado’ is the scene-setting first track from Double Fantasy, a foreword for an artist album of a truly special nature. Although its protagonists have been an integral part of the international electronic scene for over fifteen years, this is – somewhat unbelievably – their first album. Friends since boyhood, Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung – better known as M.A.N.D.Y. – first formed at the Monza Club in Frankfurt. Originally an energetic DJ-collective with house music at their core, it wasn’t long before they started making music, with a 2001 remix for French Formation Galleon standing as their debut. Dozens of other records followed, not last their celebrated ‘Body Language’, arguably the definitive club record of 2005 and one you’ll still hear frequently to this day. Bodmer and Jung are hard party-workers. They love to travel and entertain. With their studio buddies Booka Shade and DJ T., they founded their own label Get Physical, still viewed as one of the world’s most influential. Here, their understanding of sound — beyond their own work— found a solid home. Just like their parties, M.A.N.D.Y. stands for continuous commitment and free thought. Out of their exhilarating soundscapes, avant-garde cathedrals rise. A tried and tested team both behind the decks and in the studio, M.A.N.D.Y.’s roots are in the old school sounds of early electronic music, hip-hop and electro, influences they return to once again on Double Fantasy. “Of course we had the idea to make an official M.A.N.D.Y. album a long time ago” says Jung. “But we did not want a stapled-together snapshot. After all, we were and are on the road worldwide pretty much constantly. So the endeavour took a little bit longer than expected”. Bodmer adds, “In a career, it’s expected to release a long-format as soon as possible. For us, it was not the most important thing in the universe!” It was from a pool of around 50 compositions that M.A.N.D.Y. chose twelve songs for Double Fantasy. And yes, their classic ‘Body Language’ is also back, of course, in a newly reworked version for 2016. The production was supported and accompanied by their long-time companion Stefan Eichinger (aka Lopazz) who as an accomplished mixmaster and engineer took care of the polished studio-cut. The selection of international guest-artists highlights M.A.N.D.Y.’s broad array of styles. During the ghostly track ‘Whisper’, Bam from the New York hip-hop crew Jungle Brothers raps, his vocoder-inflected vocals impressively conjuring the long-held associations between house and hip-hop. Elsewhere the South African song-genius Nonku Phiri accompanies a polyphone-splatter by the classically schooled Francesco Tristano. Further guest appearances from Jimmy Vallance from Canadian act Bob Moses (‘Tomorrow Is Another Night’), Brett Johnson (‘Rhythm & Soul’), and LD Nero (‘Rabbit Mountain’) complete the impressive list of studio partners. M.A.N.D.Y. consciously set out to make a more thoughtful album than your average club record: an elegant body of work that would stand the test of time. This carefully curated debut shows the grand masters of organic house sounds in iridescent form: relaxed, inspired and breaking conventions with every turn. What do you think is typical for “House” in 2016? A: I think real house music has not really changed, but I think the affiliation has increased. For me a typical house track nowadays is all about a funky groove and a funky bassline, an open hihat and maybe some chords or piano loops. Q: You created “Beans & Bacon” as your own music label. What ́s the secret behind the name and what ́s the message you want to spread? A: It´s seriously just a name and one of my favourite german food called „Bohnen im Speckmantel“ (bacon-wrapped beans). There is no real story behind the name. As I decided to found a new label "Beans & Bacon" was my first idea. We are an electronic music label based in Mannheim, Germany. Our focus is to release high-quality house and techno music and everything in between. The message is „tasty – home cooked – music“, which means that we are always looking for homemade electronic music without following trends. For example, when we receive demos and realize that half of the production are purchased loops we´re not interested in. We are always looking for the small but fine difference in our music, to create something new and special. We have our own idea of good music and this is what we release. For me the label isn´t only a side project, it has the same prioritiy as my artist alias Adam Stacks. In the past 2 years, we got some nice support from artists such as Hermanez, Agent!, Thomas Schumacher, Marc DePulse, Lopazz, Riva Starr, Andreas Henneberg, Mia Dora, Johnny D, Beatamines, Oscar L, Franz Alice Stern, Robert Owens, Reelow, Jesus Soblechero and many more. So it looks like we are doing something right. Let's see what happens in 2016. Q: Which Adam Stacks releases are coming up this year? A: There will be a release togehter with my friend, rapper and singer Luis Baltes called „Be Like Us“. Then there will be another project with my friend LO. This time together with the female singer NOVAA. These two projects will be released on Beans & Bacon. Then I´m doing another EP on the friendly label Nightcolours Recordings together with remixes from Beatamines and Neferiel. I also finished a lot of tracks I hope to release later this year.

Kirill Pavlyashik aka Polar Lights was born and raised in the most western city of Russia, Kaliningrad, also known as Koenigsberg. For the first time he was introduced to music when he witnessed a Nutcracker performance in the kindergarten, which have had a huge impact on him in becoming a musician. Back then, he never knew that he’ll get his self involved into music that far. The music presence was everywhere in his childhood. Kirill describes the Russian enclave as foggy with lots of greyness and not too sunny at all. Nevertheless, it has so many different cultures and people from the post Soviet Union that all together make up such a versatile community for sharing and exchanging ideas. A bit later on, he got more into electronic music once he heard a weekly radio show hosted by Anton Kubikov. At that time, Kubikov was well-known as one-half of SCSI-9 and for his cutting edge production that he used to describe as “hypno house”. At some point, Kirill have decided that this is definitely something he wants to deal with in the future. After getting his hands on various sound applications and experimenting with samples, it was just a question of time until the potential and creativity of the young talent was about to make things happen. It’s been a while since Kirill started to produce tracks under his moniker. After years spent paying his dues in Milan’s historic clubs, from Old Fashion to Trattoria Toscana, in unauthorized centri sociali or ‘squat clubs’, fashion shows and radio work, he turned his attention to production. He explored a variety of genres, from trip hop to swing, passing through jungle, West London and Detroit house, to deep house, while never abandoning jazz – the wildest and most impeccable of all - progressively building a digital project. Out of this came the concept of Jazzy, the ability to make jazz and electronic music communicate. This passion is also manifest in the Oneboy project - musical instruments played live to a DJ set. Giuseppe put this project together with writer Tatiana Carelli under the name Taji bpm. Oneboy performed at the 2007 Salone Del Mobile furniture show, at various national festivals and events and on an Italian tour in 2008. Also with Taji he created the Discokit® project, a kind of “sensory stimulation kit” – the dance club becomes ‘takeaway’ and enters the world of art with more than 60 events held over two years. The discography is varied and rich in international collaborations, starting with releases for Multivitamins, then for the PRO-TEZ, Circle Music, Dabit, Piston Recordings and Vibe Me Records. In 2009, Giuseppe creates Apparel Music - a ‘kitchen’ of artists from all over the planet. Among the many partnerships are long-established collaborations in Russia with the duo SCSI-9 and in Germany with major artists like Lopazz, Elon, Chris Wood, Tom Clark, Ekkohaus as well as Delano Smith, Moodymanc, Domu, Tuccillo, Ali Kuru, Yapacc, Casio Casino, Sarp Yilmaz, Huxley, Lula Circus, Roy Gilles, Fog, Gavin Herlihy and the list goes on.
