WIAC Analyst Shane Kennelly joins the show and we start off with some small talk and then recognize the seventeen Wisconsin girls that are currently ranked nationally! For the remainder of the show, we recognize the Wisconsin graduates that are currently wrestling in college, and what a list it is! We start with the in-state guys and girls, then move out-of-state and go by division. Along the way, there's definitely some nostalgic moments as we covered most of these wrestlers when they were in high school and Shane and Steve also provide a lot of knowledge on the wrestlers and colleges they're wrestling for.Support the show

Eric, the former Dean of Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania, and Jacques Steinberg, an award-winning education journalist, share their expert advice on how your teen should be applying to college from start to finish, and how you can engage and offer support. The first question on the ballot this November asks voters to either approve or reject a tax on income above $1 million that will then be dedicated revenue used for education and transportation purposes in the state. Charles Chippeo, Senior Fellow at the Pioneer Institute, representing a NO vote and Liz Speakman, Regional Organizing Director for Fair Share Massachusetts, representing a YES vote joined Dan LIVE in person at Regis College for an open discussion with the audience about Que. 1.
Businesses and various workforces in Massachusetts are experiencing a labor shortage. There are many reasons for the shortages, the Covid pandemic being one of them. One of the most popular professors at Boston College is a woman named Biz Bracher. She teaches a course that wonders about ethics, society and the individual. She asks her students to think hard about their potential as citizens and contributors. She drills down on the biggest questions we face: What am I good at? Who am I called to become? This is a conversation that serves all of us, whether we're kids inching toward adulthood or adults craving some productive introspection. Enjoy and share.
Disclaimer: This episode features tears from both Charleen and Ellie, but it's not to do with the theme - that theme is starting and going back to college. The girls talk about their own experiences of their courses, dropping out, restarting a new course, balancing work and life in education and everything in between. And we hear about Charleen's confrontation with one of her teachers in Germany. As always, your dilemmas are answered, including what to do if your boyfriend has sent and received from another girl when you were fighting with each other, and how should you deal with your boyfriend breaking up with you the day before a family member's wedding?
This is Part 2 of my talk with students where I get to talk with college students on their faith walk in the midst of all the freedoms college brings!Their wisdom warmed my heart and will definitely encourage you!Support the show

Payroll has been a sensitive topic when it comes to the Guardians. Today all players settled and signed, giving the Guardians their first official payroll for 2022. It is just short of 50 million for the second year in a row which has not happened since 04 and 05. We look at avenues to improve the team including extensions, free agency and also taking back a one-year bad contract like we often see in other sports We pivot to our college baseball coverage. We begin by talking about the Xavier and Indiana matchup which we highlighted last week. While the players I focused on didn't have a big weekend it was a huge offensive weekend. We then focus on Jonathan Cannon who fits the Guardians profile currently has the second-best strikeout to walk ratio in the country. We also talk about 5th ranked Hunter Barco, as well as another lefty in 17th, ranked Nate Savino. Savino is a player I mocked to the Guardians out of high school. While Virginia has a checkered history of success, Savino has to be one of the biggest risers in the college group this spring. Adam Mazur of Iowa is the top prospect in the Big Ten. He had a rough weekend against Brandon Birdsell and Texas Tech but is another pitcher on the rise in the 2022 MLB draft. We end with a focus on Ben Metzinger who has likely been the biggest winner in terms of rising value in 2022. It is a super deep catcher crop, the best I have ever seen, and Metzinger of Louisville is currently arguably the top-performing catcher in the class. We're back! And then we'll be on another break until April. It's a short and sweet episode today, and our last FAFSA conversation. Quick reminder, the state of Michigan extended their priority FAFSA deadline to May 1st! So get filing!Today, we're talking about the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRSDRT)! Very exciting! Kind of. We're going to talk about why it's great, and more secure, and helps with verification. We're also going to talk about verification, because that's a tricksy process to deal with. We'll go through what it is, how to handle it, and why I am rolling my eyes about it. In fact, I reference an amazing Brookings article to enhance my eye roll power. Here's the link to that article: https://www.brookings.edu/blog/brown-center-chalkboard/2021/06/07/fafsa-verification-an-undue-burden-for-students-and-public-colleges/As always, send me your questions at podcastcollegetalk@gmail.comRemember to subscribe, like, comment, and/or rate! Good talk about mainly college and high school experiences, with a little bit of talk on fruits. Enjoy!
This episode is a bit more personal than the last one because I am playing one of my best roles ever, "Thee Big Cousin". I had one of my babies come join me at my virtual table down in my studio. (hehe). We touched on different topics regarding leaving high school and transitioning into college. It sucks because like most students, my cousin is home and is not getting that full experience just yet but she is making the best of her time home and I am here to give her some tips on what she's supposed to do and don't do while on her college campus. I also gave her the floor to ask me anything. Tune in to hear what we both had to say. I love y'all so much for listening.
Vibe control coming through and this time around we discussed an variety of things. From the way people stay in relationships because they are convenient, cheating, a little bit of college talk from past experiences, and a bit of the Ahmaud Arbery situation. From there we touched on the way people support each other and black businesses and towards the end we had to talk about Lil Boosie and him admitting to having his 12 year old son receive oral from a grown woman. Some people don't see anything wrong with it and that is ridiculous. Hopefully all of you enjoy this weeks episode as we enjoy giving this content. Background music is a reproduction of Moo by Doja Cat. The producer is "Mizzy Mauri The Producer" on youtube.
