Si les dynamiques de nos français restent différentes, les challenges n'en seront que plus nombreux. Pour eux, c'est « Do Or Die » Dans sa 2e saison NBA, le français Sékou Doumbouya, drafté 11e en 2019, par les Detroit Pistons, successivement arrivé aux nets, puis au Lakers de Lebron James, ou il n'a pu qu'obtenir un « Two Way Contract », le français sera sous pression. l'enjeu, pour lui sera de profiter de l'opportunité d'intégrer le roster des Lakers au cours des 50 matchs potentiels qu'offre ce type de contrat. Pour Frank Ntilikina, médaillé d'argent aux jeux de Tokyo, drafté en 8e position par les Knicks et signé à l'automne par les Mavericks de Dallas, le challenge reste le même s'imposer au sein de la franchise Mark Cuban et en NBA. Adoubé par Kriptas Porzingis et Michael Finley, le français devrait avoir sa carte dans au sein d'une franchise structurée et ambitieuse. En effet le français a paraphé, cet été, un nouveau contrat de 208 millions de dollars sur 5 ans, faisant de lui le Jazz le mieux payé de l'histoire. Si les objectifs individuels sont cochés, année après année, Rudy aura à cœur, cette saison d'atteindre ses objectifs collectifs, à savoir atteindre les finales NBA et pourquoi remporter un titre dès cette année. Et en G-League ? Il ne faut pas oublier les Français de la G-League, sans « two-way contract ». Pour Axel Toupane, ce sera les Warriors, une franchise qu'il connaît bien, et la G-League lui a souvent porté chance. Ce sera le cas aussi de Jaylen Hoard et Olivier Sarr, a priori au Blue d'OKC, et d'Adam Mokoka, toujours aux Bulls. Pour espérer jouer en NBA cette saison, ces quatre-là devront réaliser de grosses saisons, et espérer signer des contrats de 10 jours dans la deuxième partie de saison. Two-way contract : Conçu pour créer une nouvelle passerelle entre la NBA et la G-League, ce type de contrat permet à chaque équipe de s'attacher les services d'un ou deux joueurs supplémentaires, pour les faire évoluer principalement dans leur franchise de ligue de développement affiliée mais aussi jusqu'à 45 jours en NBA. Cette année, cette limite est transformée en 50 apparitions sur la feuille de match.
